Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Black Fat Fem Podcast is a production of iHeartRadio
and Doctor John Paul LLC.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
Hey, everyone, welcome to an extra special episode of the
Black Fat fan Podcast where all the intersections of a
DND are celebrated. I'm one of your hosts, John also
known as Doctor John Paul, and I've got a question
for you, Queen Jojo or I mean Queen Diva. My
name is Detective Fears. You're not in trouble boots. We're
just trying to get the tea in this situation, and
(00:28):
I want to know is the bus still running?
Speaker 1 (00:35):
That shit was so funny.
Speaker 3 (00:37):
I was like, what is?
Speaker 1 (00:38):
Sometimes I hate it in that, but sometimes I love it,
and I'm like, y'all are funny as hell. Yeah, I
live fam. Is your girl Jojo or Jordan f Nasty.
It is most pleasing to me that we're back back
back again the studio girl for in Creble Show Show
Today Today, I'm trying to get a grip. Good God,
I'm trying to get a grip because I can we
(01:00):
have with us John just today.
Speaker 2 (01:03):
I'm just gonna hand jump in and say it, so,
I mean, the secret is out. Y'all already know your
eyes are not playing any games. They have not deceived you.
We are loud and live and in color with one
of my favorite all time queens LaTrece motherfucking Royale Gez
no introduction other than five gee's please and what are they?
Speaker 1 (01:23):
You asked? Good God, girl, get a grip is real?
Thank you for being here, my pleasure. We're so happy
you're here.
Speaker 3 (01:34):
We're so excited.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
We're so excited, and so we're gonna jump off and
start our show off. Like we always do, we ask
a question basically kind of to kick off the show.
In the spirit of Tsha Campbell and being still here,
we are always talking about resilience at the beginning of
our show. And so this week I found myself back
to listening to Renaissance and Cozy came on, and for
(01:56):
some reason, like Cozy hit me a little different this time,
and I wanted to ask you while I was listening
to the album literally more than a million times. Y'all
know that it is one of my favorite albums of
all time. I just I do want to say the
show does hit a little different, especially living in the
world that we're currently living in.
Speaker 3 (02:12):
We know the times are.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
Tough, and so when Beesus Christ said, ben up, ben down,
ben broke, broke down, bounce back. That made me want
to ask, y'all, what does it mean to be cozy
for you in the moment?
Speaker 3 (02:27):
How have you continued to bounce back every day?
Speaker 2 (02:29):
And so I'll start, I'll throw it to you latrese,
and then I'll go a hand throw it over to you, joho.
I know for me, I have made some notes and
I had said, you know, these last few months have
been hard because of the way folks have been trying
to make me and others who do DEI who do
this type of work, who's trying to celebrate the intersections
of all that we are, feel like our work and
our voice doesn't matter. But then you know, I think
(02:51):
about the book that we got to collaborate on and
we're going to talk about that in a minute, yaw.
The feeling of knowing folks are intentionally looking over you
and your message because it's not sexy to talk about
anti blackness, anti fadness or anti corness. And so tbh,
the first week I actually this like, this was the
first week that I actually really cried since November six
because it just really kind of hit me where we
(03:13):
are and what we're all kind of going through. And
then I kind of thought about my voice and the
platform that I'm helping to build, you know, with us collaborative, collaboratively,
and really just thinking about how my dreams, as much
as the shit is still here, my dreams are still
coming true. And so that, for me is what Cozy
meant for me. It's like I wrote a whole fucking
(03:34):
book and someone I look up to wrote my forward.
That's a dream come true. And so that for me
is what Cozy meant for me in this moment. So
what about you, love, I.
Speaker 4 (03:44):
Mean, this is a very timely question because, like you know,
we all go through things and I am nothing more
than human. And I'll be honest, Like around my birthday,
which was February twelve, I thank you. I had the
darkest birthday ever, dark dark dark, dark, dark dark. And
(04:09):
you know, when you get into that dark space, you
start telling yourself lies and things and you kind of
believe them. But you know, I'm back kind of bitch
that I beat those voices to have for the baseball bat.
It might take me a couple of, you know, a
few hours to do it, but I had to remind
(04:29):
myself who I was in the power of me, and
so like, that's part of the reason what brought me
here to La is that I needed to be around
my people. I needed to be around my sisters, my fans,
my my my loved ones. Like to get re energized,
because it gets lonely on the road, you know, all
(04:52):
that kind of stuff when you're doing one queen shows.
There's only just you, you know. But I within, like
when I started snapping out of it and reminding myself
who I really am and then showing myself who I
am and that I am that bitch, I was like, oh,
(05:15):
don't believe that. Those those voices don't believe that. Like
and for me, it was a reawakening and and and
and I had to remember, real in real time and
real fast that you know you are that bitch and
you are powerful. And so remember the power of your words.
And I bounced right back and here I am and
(05:36):
I'm playing the game and having a good time.
Speaker 3 (05:40):
Yeah, yeah, what about you, joho.
Speaker 1 (05:43):
So first I would say, a fresh cut always helps
you bounce back. Now you see one screaming that you
know she got she got her little dowbrag on, but
she got a fresh brains in this bitch attle like
(06:04):
she is. I mean she you know, she like four
like four five days fresh, but she looks like she
feel good. And my brains are too tight for me
to give up by anything else right now to bounce
back this tightness because I'm like, but really, I think
I really, really I appreciate this question, John. I think
my bounce back really has just been more in creation.
Like I feel I am creating more right now than
(06:25):
I ever have before. It's because I am it's close
to crashing out like like okay, like like J. I mean,
I'm not J, but I am Jack at the same
time because there's just so much bs around me that
I'm choosing to create in spite of it rather than
desist from creating and fear of it. To me, like
I like, I give my balance back by saying I'm
(06:46):
gonna make something special, incredible and make something that feels
aligned with who I am in my purpose. And that
to me is like the open from a bounce back,
right is that I'm trying to not like live in brokenness.
I'm trying to I'm trying to get those pieces that
have been broken and make gold out of it. You
know that that that that little uh, the little thing
that folks doing and then they put gold in a
pot and they feel gold. They put cracks and feeling
(07:07):
and ship. You know, that's a little practice. It's like
it's like kusnagi or something. I'm telling you what Christmas wrong.
Weep the name by the thing. It's called kusai and
it is. It is a Japanese practice.
Speaker 4 (07:18):
Where you've seen it.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
Okay, thank you, Okay. I was like, it's a real thing.
Speaker 4 (07:22):
It's really cute.
Speaker 1 (07:22):
My point is my pot has cracked me of gold,
So hey, I.
Speaker 3 (07:26):
Know that's right.
Speaker 2 (07:28):
And we just right, and we just came off of
leper Conde too, right, came off.
Speaker 1 (07:35):
So I'm living okay, all right, y'all.
Speaker 2 (07:38):
Well, with that being said, we have to pay some
bills and we've got more love to share this episode,
So sit tight and we will be back with more show.
Speaker 3 (07:47):
Grab a snack and come on back.
Speaker 1 (07:57):
We are back family, and this week category is we're
talking to one of the leagens of drag and I
guess must for the segment, but making sure that you
get your flowers for all that you've done, trees, all
you've done, and that you continue to do so cash
you before we get to the book later. For those
who don't know your story, I want people to like
know you. What made you want to do drag and
(08:18):
why is drag so so important now to you?
Speaker 4 (08:21):
I didn't want to do draft. I never saw myself
getting no draft, honey. I was like, too broad back, honey, maybe.
(08:43):
And so it was a Dare Halloween and so I
dressed up as Wanda from a Living Color. Yeah Jamie
Fox shout out, But yeah, that's all I did. And
I thought it was gonna be the end of it.
And then I wound up doing the amateur drag show
at the COPA and Fort Lauderdale. Horrible, horrible bitch. I
(09:05):
didn't have no there was no Amazon Prime, so I
didn't have a side sixteen pump, you know, I didn't
have a week. We got creative, but it was not cute.
And I went out there and did a lyrical dance
at the drag show and they were like, oh, baby, drink, ma'am.
So I got two drink tickets. Were participating in the
(09:27):
fashion citation there.
Speaker 1 (09:28):
I don't ever wear that fashion citations. They said, you
even stupid fashion.
Speaker 4 (09:40):
C I just want to let you know I'm having
DejaVu at this moment, so we're in the right place
at the right time, you know.
Speaker 1 (09:47):
Okay. I love that you said that. Thank you for
saying that, because when I have I constantly am like,
this is the affirmation that I'm in the raplace, right time.
Speaker 3 (09:53):
Okay, thank you.
Speaker 4 (09:55):
I had to put that out to name it.
Speaker 1 (09:57):
Okay, I'm a good hear one because I because I'm
having dreams about most of this and so here you
say that is really amazing.
Speaker 4 (10:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (10:07):
Okay, so you said you did. You did your drag.
Speaker 1 (10:12):
It's okay, quick drag, That's.
Speaker 4 (10:15):
What Yeah, we did. And then okay, so then the
following week, I like, I know I could win this contest, right, Yeah,
so you said I take these like youth, but my
(10:35):
roommates believed it. Me and my like color guard people are,
we support each other. So that's what it was. And
so they were like, my roommate found me some shoes
and a wigs, and then I made my own dress
from Joanne Fabrics.
Speaker 1 (10:51):
Shout out to Joe and.
Speaker 4 (10:55):
She came to she came through the pension. I went
and got me some tis the patterned honey, around about
my side added some inches to it, hot mont, but
I went and I wanted the content.
Speaker 1 (11:09):
Listen.
Speaker 4 (11:11):
So that was the beginning of the never ending story
because then I found like there is something there and
I love I'm a ham honey. If you're gonna scream,
I'm like, oh you like that, do some more? And
so here we are thirty two the years later. Yeah, yeah,
it's wild.
Speaker 3 (11:29):
Yeah, that's really really cool. Thirty three is a.
Speaker 4 (11:33):
Wow, that's a good number. Those are good numbers though,
Three three, honey, I'm all about that.
Speaker 3 (11:37):
The Angel number.
Speaker 1 (11:38):
Oh yes, it is coming on now just as just
as a quick full up.
Speaker 3 (11:42):
If that's ok, go ahead, go ahead.
Speaker 1 (11:43):
I'm so here's as you like, because I you know,
because I do like you know, like why do you
think we dragon's important today? But also I'm curious like
that moment where like with that light inside you turned on,
like how how how else do you hold on to that?
And like in this moment right now too.
Speaker 4 (11:59):
Oh, it's why I'm still here. It's why I'm here
like currently right now during this tour is literally you
have to go back to your roots. You have to
go what made you the happiest and you know what
you need that fuels you. And this is what drag
is to me. And it's so important now because not
(12:21):
only is a rebellion, it's a celebration and it's an
art and it has evolved and taken off to places
that I never saw imaginable. And so the fact that
we are not just here, but we are thriving and
we're inspiring people of all different races and generations and
(12:46):
ages and shapes and sizes is to be their best
and authentic self. That is what drag is about. And
it's just like saying, baby, hey, you can be whatever
your fantasy is and it's gonna be valid. And that's
how you fee you. We're gonna you too. But if
you look at.
Speaker 5 (13:07):
Yes, I don't have to tell you your ugly, but
we don't have to.
Speaker 4 (13:18):
Tell you now.
Speaker 1 (13:20):
You may want to choose a different look next time.
Speaker 2 (13:22):
Yes, yes, yes, yes, Mona Lisa, but yes, but right,
but we're gonna, we're gonna take care of We're gonna
get you the where you need to go. I love this,
So I love that question, jo hoo, because I think
I don't think people really know or understand the importance
of and and I say this not to you know,
say it to be you know, just flipping. I really
(13:44):
think you know Dragon, So we're gonna talk about I
always say you learned this about me. He probably saw
us in the book. I always say all roads lead
back to RuPaul's Dragon the so and so I want
to say this because I think the time RuPaul's Drag Race.
So like, right now, everyone celebrates RuPaul Drag Race. And
I know there's multiple feels and multiple different opinions and
(14:08):
thoughts that people have on the franchise, but I think
specifically your season, like I want to go back to
your season, but not necessarily just your season. But the time,
we weren't talking about queerness the way that we talk
about it now. We were not talking about queer culture.
We were not talking about black queer culture. And so
I intentionally put this question in here because I wanted
(14:31):
to kind of go back to that moment. Right you've
been doing drag locally. You have all of these people
who kind of know LaTrece Royal, but we don't know
LaTrece Royale. Then you get on this show and then
all of a sudden, it kind of takes off.
Speaker 3 (14:42):
Latrice is everywhere.
Speaker 2 (14:44):
I saw you at Riverside, I saw you in La
I saw you in San Diego. Like You're now in
all of my hometowns, and I'm thinking to myself, I
would love to ask you, like, can you talk to
me a bit about the journey and how it impacted
you and your work now, looking kind of at that
historical moment of what RuPaul drag Race was, it was
twenty twelve, ye, there was yeah, so yeah around that time.
Speaker 4 (15:06):
Yeah, you know, I, like you said, I was local
and just doing my thing and then got on the
show and I had no clue at the time the
magnitude in which I was impacting people. I did not know.
I was clearly clueless and green. I was just going
with the flow and just saying, oh well. And I
(15:28):
always felt awkward when people would have reactions toward me,
like they would come up and start crying, and I'm
just like, what is this?
Speaker 1 (15:35):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (15:35):
What did I do?
Speaker 1 (15:37):
You know what I mean?
Speaker 4 (15:39):
Yeah, Like I really it was also new to me,
and then like things started changing, you know, I started
having more of a purpose because now I have a
platform and I was fighting for marriage equality. Yeah, and
that was the thing, Ben, you know, what I mean.
And so even though I never saw myself be married,
(16:00):
and that was a whole tobacco, people don't understand what
I'm meant, But it was one of those moments where
I felt like, oh, maybe I do have a voice,
and maybe I can make an impact and maybe I
can make change happen. So I leaned into that, and
then a friend of mine asked me to officiate his wedding.
(16:23):
So then I became ordained and then started doing weddings.
And as I was starting to travel and doing my
shows and sets, I would always include at least one
gospel song We're going to go to church, whether it's
Theresa or Donald Lawrence or whoever, We're gonna go to church.
(16:47):
And it would move people like to like Frenzy, like Frenzy,
and I realized that this is my ministry. Drag is
my ministry. I realized that this is how I am
reaching my people and really really being able to like
see them and meet them where Jesus would meet them.
(17:08):
You know what I mean, Whoever your higher power is,
and you know it doesn't look like church, but you
feel church because Church is inside you. You know what
I mean, that is not you don't have to go
to a building and congregate to have church, and so
I don't care where it's at. We're going to celebrate
because I know I wouldn't be where I am if
(17:30):
it hadn't been for my higher power getting me through it.
So that's why dragon has become my ministry more than anything.
And so it's an important work and that's and I'm
leaning into that, and that's how that all came to be.
Speaker 1 (17:42):
I love that so very much because I am so
who definitely believes that you can find the divine anywhere
you go, and I have oftentimes found the spirit at
a drag show. I've also found a spirit with my friends.
I find a spirit dancing in the club. So here
you stay. Your ministry is really really special because I
think like church and like is that is? That's so amazing?
(18:05):
I really I really appreciate you John Naming, Like, like
how long? How long about that you were on you
were on drag Race because twenty twelve, right twenty twelve,
I was just rutching in high school. We I greup
group in the Bay Area where the prop was a
really huge thing there and like you know, like exprecting
that as as as as as a kid myself and
then growing up into it, right and then like like
I I saw drag Race in probably twenty probably probably
(18:27):
into like twenty thirteen. I started watching on season four
and the and then that we're watching back from there,
but like it's you know, that time, your point was
such a such a different time now, right, right, Like
the access to queer history was not the same, access
to technology is not the same. Access to people knowing
who who we are is not the same. You know,
drag race. Drag Race was like set like everyone everyone's
(18:50):
just drug race now, but people it was like drag
race was like secret language at that point, right, it
was vernacular that you that that you had that inspired
so much today. But like like like like you knew
someone was cool when when when they watched your oh
you watched race through girl, like like we're cool, We're
runder ground, and so I'm curious to ask you. Right,
Like from that to a show like We're Here, which
is which is so different in the context of how
(19:13):
it exists, right, but it's also going to place it
like in the mainstream in big cities, drag Race became
a mainstay of s marning people but then you know,
we're here, which is still reaching people small towns, which
is not population that people are realizing now that like
they haven't been reached deal. And so I'm curious, Like,
I mean, that show to me when it first came
out was so amazing. And another show is any Now
and you were on you were on the last two seasons,
(19:35):
just last those last season, and so I'm curious, asked
like a two bare question, what was the experienced like
being on that show? But also how was it for you,
like knowing that you started at such a different time
and then you're in this show, you know, more than
a decade later.
Speaker 4 (19:51):
Well, the show itself, you know, I knew that I
was there to do important work, and so I went
in with that mindset that I know that I'm going
to be called names, I'm going to be meeting opposition.
I know that I'm going to be uncomfortable, and this
(20:14):
is nothing new to me. I am not a stranger
to fighting city hall for my rights, so I have
done it. Like prior to drag Race, you know, I
was working at the Palace in South Beach and there
was ordinance and we were getting trying to they were
trying to shut us down. So we're in city Hall
and full drag fighting for our rights to perform on
(20:35):
the sidewalk. And we won. We won, you know, ultimately.
But I'm not scared of anything or anyone, and so
I'm forward to the right and I wanted to go
make an impact. I didn't want to go and just
make a ruckus and leave. That was important to me.
I told production that, I said, I don't want to
(20:56):
come in here just ruffle up everything and then leave
and be like except y'all figure it out, you know
what I mean. That's not what that should be.
Speaker 2 (21:05):
You know.
Speaker 4 (21:05):
There should be some kind of resolve, There should be
some kind of update. There should be some kind of
follow up, you know, follow through. And I think we
did that. We managed to do that. I still talk
to my drag daughter Randy there. But we're here. Was exceptional.
(21:27):
It was a very important show, and I'm sad that
it's gone. I never expected that that's what where I
would be, you know what I mean, Like, yeah, coming
from drag Race, it's a different animal, like yeah, yeah,
like just from the competitive standpoint versus like you're actually
(21:50):
doing things that matter, like you know, like looking cute
on the runway and acting the food and a challenge.
Speaker 1 (21:58):
So like directly being someone's life change and help.
Speaker 4 (22:01):
Them change the life and their surroundings. You know, it
was hard, and like I didn't mind though, I was
going to get up in your face and say like, hey,
do you want to have a conversation where you're just
gonna yell insult insult, and and that's how they wanted
to do.
Speaker 1 (22:15):
Yeah, I feel like you you embody, like the saying
we're here. And in Judaism, there's a Hebrew phrase called
hanani that is like here I am or I've arrived.
It's decoration of oneself and like hearing you speak and
like seeing you have you're seeing you right now in persons,
having seen you on my screen so many ways, Like
you embody what that means, because like when someone when
(22:36):
someone says hanani, I've arrived, it's not just saying like
oh hey girl, I'm here, It's like my presence is here.
And so I like I just want I wouldn't say,
like you embody that so much everything that you do
in it, So it feels so special to being in
your presence right now and to be able to hear
you speak in this way because it really like you
have profiily changed in my lives, like whether you have
touched them in your like yourself or not, you haven't
(22:57):
had to sew so simy lives and so it's really
like it's yeah, just think you think you think.
Speaker 4 (23:02):
You thank you.
Speaker 1 (23:04):
I want to get a little bit into the book
because you know, like like John John has a book
come out where you bro the forward and I'm curious,
ask you, like, so John hits you up and it's
like hey, like and you and and you said yes, left.
Speaker 2 (23:34):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (23:35):
So so I just asked you, like, what what led you?
What led you to to saying yes when someone asked
you a question and ask you what you know a
thing like that? What what goes through your head?
Speaker 4 (23:46):
Fear? First of all, because I have I've never written
like formally, you know, and that was intimidating for me.
And it was a new territory and I didn't want
to get it wrong, you know, And so I had
(24:07):
to take a long pause. I had to talk over
to my husband and rattle some things off. And he
was like, babe, like you you're you're you're golden, you know,
like you know what you're doing, you know. And then
I started writing, and before I knew it, I was like,
I had thoughts and things and so backs when it
wasn't until I knew that I could do it, I
(24:29):
said yes, and so like you know, I was able
to get my thoughts together. They were out of order,
and then I had to rearrange things and get it all.
But it was the process, and I really found out
a lot about myself through the process. You know, I
tell my story through my One Queens show all the time,
(24:50):
but this had just this spark some things that I
don't touch on in my show because they're so deep
and personal. These are the things that cuts that only
you know, you know what I mean, because you know
how it is, Yes, I do. You know. We didn't
call it abuse at the time or bullying at the
(25:10):
time because that's just how your family was, right, and
it really ultimately was your biggest bullies were inside the house,
and it was wild to like have to realize that
and we'll be like, yeah, this is what we dealt with.
Speaker 2 (25:25):
Yeah, And you know, I want to say to that,
I you know, I appreciate so I appreciated you not
over committing and saying yes and not really feeling like
like I actually when you said let me take a
moment to sit with this and then I'll get back
to you, I appreciated it so much, and we're going
to talk more about about again the impetus of the
(25:46):
book in a second. But I was going to say,
like I just wanted to say from me to you,
you know, I haven't really gotten a chance to thank
you for the intentionality that you put into your forward,
because you know, as I was doing the audiobook and
I was reading it, I was like, wow, this is
so thoughtful, Like I can tell like you really took
your time to really think about what stories and what
(26:07):
highlights you were going to share. And as I'm sitting
here fighting, there's there's two emotions that are running. There's
the emotion of a fangirl, right because obviously I'm like
your biggest fan. But also there's the other part of
me that's like looking at like I said, a long
lost cousin, mother, auntie, like all of those things that
I'm sitting with here, I now have that legacy in
(26:28):
my legacy, and it just it makes me like I
feel every time I look at the boo because people
keep asking.
Speaker 3 (26:33):
Me, how do you feel to have a book? How
do you how do you feel to have a book?
Speaker 2 (26:36):
I'm like, yeah, the book is cool, but I think
for me, it's like knowing that you're connected to this
from me, it's like I feel so fucking special, Like
I feel so special every time I wake up and
I look at that book, I go wow, like that
there's something there that's so special knowing that you're connected
to it. So I'm just I'm I can't say it enough.
I am so forever grateful that you said yes. So
(26:58):
I did want to ask you the one thing I
have been wanting to ask both. Now, well, there's two
things I want to ask real quick before we get
into this book. I've always wanted to ask you what
was going on in your mind when you was performing
Aretha Franklin and King.
Speaker 3 (27:11):
You was dancing around.
Speaker 1 (27:16):
Somewhere and somewhere in the wist right now, who was like,
I'm sitting on this question fifteen years waiting your mind,
sitting there, hold on your stomach.
Speaker 4 (27:28):
Okay, I'm gonna tell you.
Speaker 1 (27:29):
Performing the house down again, you was swirlling around.
Speaker 4 (27:32):
You go ahead, reference in a moment, because there is
actually a visual queue that I can give you there
at the moment that you'll see me kind of tilt
my head down and go like this.
Speaker 1 (27:45):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (27:46):
That's when I was going, poor baby, no shaking. I
want to be in my head. I was going, poor baby.
Yeah yeah, and that's what I was thinking. She did
not get it. I was almost she.
Speaker 1 (28:00):
Don't understand what because this song of all songs.
Speaker 4 (28:03):
Like baby, you nine months pregnant and you are.
Speaker 2 (28:09):
I'm not doing.
Speaker 1 (28:11):
You sh.
Speaker 3 (28:15):
Lily.
Speaker 1 (28:16):
That's how you know I'm a true fact. I've just
sitting on that question for almost fourteen years. I've been
sitting on that question, like what is going on?
Speaker 4 (28:24):
Baby?
Speaker 2 (28:25):
So I wanted to ask you that because I know
some of our listeners are probably asking the guy that.
Speaker 1 (28:30):
You remember it. You're like, I know it's in your
mind as much as in our minds.
Speaker 3 (28:36):
Poor baby, poor baby, my head tail, get somebody else
to do it. I live.
Speaker 2 (28:46):
So I did want to ask you, you know, I've
been wanting to ask you know now that we both
have the book in our hands, and for those of
you who are listening, the book does drop today. So
if you have not if you have not gotten your copy,
you can't go get your copy because it is out today.
I did want to ask you kind of touched on
this in your last you know, your last response. You know,
(29:06):
I actually said, you know, what has the full you
were talking about like the abuse that you didn't know
was abuse. But I was wondering, like with you having
to revisit anything, there's millions of things I can talk
about about what this book did for me. I wanted
to know with writing or being asked to write the Ford,
what what was your process like, Like was there things
that you had tucked away and you were like, you
(29:26):
know what, I'm gonna go ahead. All pun intended. Were
the things that you had tucked away that you had
just said I'm not gonna touch or'm a leave alone,
or were there things where you like, finally I can
actually like I can sit with this and I'm okay
to talk about it now.
Speaker 4 (29:39):
Well, yeah, both of those things happened. I think I
feel like, you know, I had some things touched away
that I hadn't touched on, and after reading and seeing
what you had shared, I was like, you know, we
are living parallel literally literally really live parallel lives, and
(30:01):
so like I felt inclined and inspired actually to join you.
I felt like you kind of opened the door for
that and there was a safe space for me to
just go ahead and put it out there. You know,
I'm an open book, you know, and I don't I
don't have anything to hide, per se. If you ask me,
(30:24):
I will tell you. And whether it's your business or not,
I will also let you know. But like for the
most part, you know, if there's something that I feel
like can help someone, if my testimony can help someone,
then why not shire, Yeah, that's how the healing begins.
Speaker 3 (30:41):
Yes, that's so real. That's so real.
Speaker 2 (30:44):
And I think this is a great you know, talking
about testimonies and talking about the stories we have to share.
This is a great way to kind of put a
cute boat because again it's just a bow or just
a comma on on the conversation. I would you know again,
please And I'm not even saying this because I'm the
one who will the book. I just think I think
the book really speaks to the time that we are
in and really speaks to this idea of finding what
(31:06):
I've been saying, finding your audacity, right you every day
you put on your say, I put on address, and
I go out on the stage.
Speaker 1 (31:13):
No, that's there's more than that. That's audacity.
Speaker 2 (31:16):
You're taking up space that genuinely is not meant for
big black girls to be on a stage. Right to
say I'm going to be on a television show, to
say I'm going to use my full voice, that's audacity.
And so I would love to ask you kind of
to that point, what closing advice can you give us
regarding the importance of staying true to yourself in a
time where everyone is trying to silence or get rid
(31:38):
of you.
Speaker 4 (31:38):
It's so important that you embrace everything, every aspect about yourself,
the good, the bad, the ugly. Take the power away
from the haters. And they say it what you speak
has power. And so when you put that out there
in the universe, it is so. And so if you're
putting out that you are the baddest big bitch in
(32:01):
this world, then it is so. And I said that
first episode, and it is so you understand what I'm
saying to you. So like, never ever gym your life.
For any woman who's insecure about their own what was.
Speaker 1 (32:17):
He talking about on the way here, talking about that
in the car, but go off, It's.
Speaker 4 (32:23):
Just It's just it's like, I'm not here to make
you comfortable.
Speaker 3 (32:26):
Amen, I'm not here.
Speaker 4 (32:27):
My existence is not here for you to be comfortable.
Like so if you if if if my light is
too bright, get some shades, fit to sleep, take it back,
but not going to happen. Yeah, this is about to
bust loose. Amen. Amen.
Speaker 2 (32:49):
Can I ask so just random off topic question, what
is your favorite song to do in your set? If
you had to look and you said, I'm gonna do
this song tonight because it's my favorite to do well.
Speaker 4 (33:02):
My rhythm mix, my rhythm is my go to, like
I know, without a doubt, is going to shut the
building down. So no matter what, that's my staple, that's
my legacy, that's my that's my ship.
Speaker 3 (33:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (33:17):
Yeah. But here lately, like I'm seeing so many videos
being shared of the way I lip sync and because
it's becoming a lost art. Yes, and I didn't like
it's more evident than ever now because there's a difference
between moving your mouth around to other people's music and
(33:40):
embodying the song and so that's what's been missing. And
I didn't realize that that's what people are craving. So
I'm I'm doing what I'm doing because I love to
do it, but it's also timely and people are needing
it and it refers. It refills me, and I'm glad
they it refills them as well.
Speaker 1 (34:00):
I think you're saying that because everyone it's focused on
being the most beautiful girl girl and you know, dancing
around and I'm like, give me great girl, Like I
want to see performance and you've been bob around the
corner is not doing it for me? Like I need
I need to know, let you know the words that
you feel, the way I see every episode, I'm like,
(34:22):
this is not this is not the same. So when
people say I really miss the previous seasons, they mean
I know they.
Speaker 3 (34:30):
Mean mean, so yes, they don't.
Speaker 1 (34:34):
They don't make them like y'all know more period. That
is a five.
Speaker 2 (34:37):
Well, it's like Vogue, right, So there's the old way
and there's the new way of Vogue, right, and the
new way of old is cute. A couple of you know,
a couple of you know drops and a couple of
you know, Kiki incipents are cute, right, But when you
really know, and again I'm I'm not professing myself to
be you know, some scholar and drag or anything.
Speaker 3 (34:53):
I know people who are, but I'm just are not
in drag. I mean in ballroom. What I'm saying is,
I think there's just the sense of like there there's
this urgency of it being a.
Speaker 1 (35:04):
Craft that is lost. And I think kind of the
same thing with podcasting.
Speaker 3 (35:10):
There's a difference. It is a craft, not a gig.
Speaker 2 (35:13):
And I think a lot of the girls are just
doing it because they think of it as quick funds.
But I'm also looking at it and I'm going, when
you look at you, when you look at Mayhem, when
you look at Morgan McMichael's, when you look at you know,
all all of the girls that have come out now,
not even just drag Race. There are still some local
queens that I look at and I go, you don't
need drag race because you are drag. The art you
have is enough. You don't need that to profess that.
(35:36):
So I can go on a so box for days.
Speaker 1 (35:37):
There's a reason they still say your name right, okay,
And you're sitting in a chair and not everyone and
like like and like no shade, but not everyone has that,
and like there's a reason why because you give everything
everything to all of us. So, okay, what a moment
besides listeners, while you and Tuck and Interi allusions left,
(36:04):
we'll discuss our favorite problematic gospel singer.
Speaker 3 (36:07):
Yes, more than just to say we are back and black.
Speaker 2 (36:19):
So with that being said, so sometimes on this show
we talk a lot about food, amen, and this this
moment is no different. This week we're jumping into what's
on our plates and we would be remiss if we
did not bring our good sister the conversation. So this week,
Miss Royal, what I'm going to ask is this. I
wanted to ask because while we have talked about hometown's
(36:41):
on the show, we talked about our hometown in the book,
we have not talked about our favorite hometown meal spot
on this show, we have not, and so I wanted
to ask. You're close to your hometown being here right,
Compton is only a couple of minutes away your team.
Speaker 1 (36:59):
So I'm I want to put us put us in
a scene. Right, So when did you go to Florida?
If I mind, you at.
Speaker 4 (37:04):
Why I moved to Florid? Okay, and how were but
I moved away in ninety one?
Speaker 2 (37:10):
Okay, So so let's go ahead and put ourselves back
in our our fourteen fifteen year old bodies, and we
are teenagers and we're hungry. The house down boots. Where
are we going to eat at? That is the question
that I would like to add. Where we're going to
eat at? For me, I'll go ahead and take it
and then I throw it to you. Or if you
need more time, you could you could let me.
Speaker 1 (37:32):
Okay, you got it.
Speaker 2 (37:34):
Read so for me, I'm in San Bernardino. I got
a little bit of change in my pocket. I'm gonna
go to Little Dragon. It was this really dope uh
Chinese Asian fusion situation. I didn't know it was fusion
at the time because I was poor, but I just
knew it was good. I didn't know what it was,
but it was good. Then there was h sal are
(37:55):
you familiar with They Saw It's a fish spot, No
age salce. Nobody knows okay, Saw, I was off of waterman.
Speaker 3 (38:00):
We speak your name?
Speaker 2 (38:02):
Ama Pola is a Mexican food spot, or we have
the Taco bender. Now, if I'm on a budget and
I'm broke, I'm going to del Taco or Bakers.
Speaker 4 (38:09):
Now.
Speaker 2 (38:09):
People don't know that Dell Taco is a Inland Empire staple.
If you are from the I okay, you're you're You're
a Dell Taco girl. Same with Bakers. Bakers is very much.
You're gonna get yourself a budget meal. And the fries,
my god, the fries. I just I love a good
Crenkle fry because I mean, obviously I'm chubby.
Speaker 1 (38:28):
And a good do you do you? Yes? Do you
love fry?
Speaker 4 (38:34):
I do love?
Speaker 1 (38:36):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (38:36):
I'm just wondering because some people and sizes wiffle yes.
Speaker 1 (39:07):
This is why I love this show so much. I
am screaming.
Speaker 2 (39:13):
Okay, So I would say this that I'm a pass it,
I'm probably and then and then if I'm if I'm broke,
I'm gonna go to In and Out because I know
it's cheap. However, In and Out is not that girl.
People people give in and Out a lot, but she
ain't that girl. You want to know who is that girl?
Is Guss and Gus Junior. If you ever get into
(39:33):
the I e. Asking one about Gus.
Speaker 1 (39:36):
We passed way we did, and I was like, we
did all the way out we can.
Speaker 3 (39:41):
But Gus and Gus Jr.
Speaker 2 (39:43):
They are those girls and their burgers in my opinion
are if you if you think I don't know where
you like your burgers from, people are like, oh, five
guys is the best burger? Brother, No, gus is they
got the best burgers.
Speaker 1 (39:54):
That's for me.
Speaker 3 (39:54):
So what about you the treat?
Speaker 4 (39:55):
Okay, I'm just gonna have to go piggyback real quick
and just say this about in and out. I don't
trust no, but no place they don't got bacon, bacon.
Speaker 3 (40:06):
I don't want to.
Speaker 4 (40:09):
But okay, I don't remember whether they the name of
it was like a little grocery store, little market. It
was either Johnson's or Robertson's or something like that, and Compton.
It was like this little storefront peek in the you know,
in the hood, little market. My mother would take me
there and in the back they had like a deli,
(40:32):
but they had burger. They make burger. That's when I
tell you this was the best, greasiest seasons beef like burger.
My mother particularly there. We would get bacon, cheeseburgers there
and fries, and I tell you it was the best.
But I haven't had a burger that good. Like I
(40:52):
don't know what, but they seasoned the meat like he
got me at season and then so that was that
was like one of our spots in the other spot
because we always ate, like because it's Sunday and in
between church services in church all day right right all day,
the messed all day.
Speaker 1 (41:14):
How long a.
Speaker 4 (41:16):
Baby? We got there at ten o'clock that morning and
we are still at church at Olock that night.
Speaker 3 (41:22):
Can I go home?
Speaker 4 (41:23):
Baby, I'm tired, Jesus. But we would rest. She would
take me. It was TAM's or Tom Thommas Tommy's.
Speaker 3 (41:38):
Yes, Tom's still good.
Speaker 4 (41:40):
Okay, but no, it's not because I'm gonna tell you,
I was trying. Because we would go to get the
French dep for Stormy and baby the way they used
to they would soak the bun and then they would
get older good form and they would stuff and I
mean packet, get the mustard and pickleing there. I mean
(42:01):
it was the best pistrami and like with the little
butcher paper and everything's just greasy and running down your aunt.
That was a sandwich. I have been I've been longing
for that ever since, and I've been coming to California.
I'm like, I gotta find me, I gotta find yeah,
And I think I found one that's close to it,
but it was still.
Speaker 3 (42:25):
Okay, Yeah, I have not.
Speaker 2 (42:30):
I was gonna say, there's a place near me and
I could see the logo, but it's it's yellow, and
I can't say the name of it, but there is
a good place with their chili fries and their pastamis
are really good. And when I figure out what the
name is, I'm gonna say you so.
Speaker 4 (42:42):
Please, I love out love a good pastami.
Speaker 3 (42:46):
I want to live.
Speaker 1 (42:47):
Yeah, okay, let me see the scene for y'all real quick.
I'm thirteen years old. Inter sections of my town, Dakota
and Avon Niles. I'm gonna give y'all a square mile
experience of a full day of eats. You begin the day,
go into Baldy's Cafe, which is next to next to
seven eleven, So it's a little liquorstole, a little like
(43:08):
strip mall thing, my cafe, hol in the wall place institution.
Being here long I've been alive, so I said, let me,
let's put chick it out. You get yourself a little
Western omelet, and honestly am about let me let me
a little little Western omelet with a thick cut piece
of French toast. That French toast, I don't know what
they put in that, in that bread or that butter
or that syrup. Oh, they'll hold you down all day.
(43:30):
If you're not a hungry bitch. You a hungry bitch.
You gonna have lunch as well too. But the French
toes fire. Then traverse yourself down a little bit of
Niles to Rose Garden for a Chinese chicken salad. God
may get you one disease. What's that a chicken salad garden?
Because that sh it was fine. When I tell you
people in the Chin chicken salad, I I don't know
(43:51):
if it's authentic or not. But the way they made it,
the way they made it, Oh, they had little crispies
on there. The sauce was something that they get a
little plum sauce for the dressing. That said, the chicken
was right, my.
Speaker 3 (44:05):
God, so good.
Speaker 6 (44:11):
Tragically tragically that I'm they have, yes, unfortunately, but that
family ran place girl fucking every day. Then when you
have when the artist hits, but you said, I have
a little sweetness of the day.
Speaker 1 (44:30):
You then go to the O G Spot Tapic Express
that was before all these bubble bitches. Okay, this was
the o G spot. You have chare tea, dan t
blean tea, all these The tap Express was that girl
and the only girl that was in that place. And
she was open day and not you'd be there at
eleven pm. I was out here doing donuts and there's
sports cards and ship for this place. This was the spot.
(44:51):
You get you a little a little tar milt tea, okay,
a little bit bubble tea moment, and then you get
a little snack and snack. I've been a bubble boy
since I've been five years old.
Speaker 3 (45:01):
This ship is, it's so are you a Buba girl?
Speaker 4 (45:03):
Do you do bubble things? Now I'll be choking that.
I'm trying to third.
Speaker 1 (45:15):
Balls and mystay. Now Now for dinner, okay, now.
Speaker 3 (45:27):
For dinner. Now it's gonna be quick and good.
Speaker 1 (45:29):
You can go down to mister Kebab where they have
the best Turkish Turkish man training and meats where you
lost You know how I feel. I know, I know
you do, but.
Speaker 3 (45:40):
I'm not eating it. I'm sorry, I don't like it.
Speaker 1 (45:43):
We can go escale for me. Are you also on
the trauma because the trauma is fine, and and and
and the BAA got you.
Speaker 4 (45:55):
It's so good.
Speaker 1 (45:57):
But if you want at the other expanid you let
the sushi. Now this time you do. You have to
get into the car. But you said, tell me sushi
in Fremont. That place rolls innovative, flavor on experience amazing.
Get yourself a nice dragon roll and for dessert green
tea tempora. Now if you get a little to borrow
ice cream. Oh but green tea same my day, my name,
(46:22):
you will not you will not be displeased. Now, if
if I'm on a budget, you have two Options'll talk
to me on the corner, which is also delicious. Do
you give yourself? Or Taco Bell, which is this is
the bitch I grew up with. That's my ship. But
that that that's a whole day in my hood.
Speaker 3 (46:40):
Are you a Taco Bell girl? I am okay?
Speaker 1 (46:43):
And also the show Taco Bell to day.
Speaker 4 (46:46):
My husband more than me, Like when we were first
dating and I would talk to him and he was
in Tennessee. I was here, but every time I talked
to him, he was in the Taco Bell even coming
from church or what ever. Because he was Chris Y.
Speaker 3 (47:02):
We love that.
Speaker 1 (47:03):
If we go out somewhere and we're driving back home.
Is there is there a TV on the way back?
Speaker 4 (47:07):
And there is not?
Speaker 1 (47:08):
I want That's all I want. I be Brito and
a little a little some the chips and the little
chips and case Chelopa girl. I mean listening against now
the Chiloopa Gordida.
Speaker 4 (47:20):
Supreme Crunch.
Speaker 3 (47:24):
Now they're gone.
Speaker 1 (47:25):
They changed their home menu after the pay they did,
they did, they did. And I will say there the girl,
the girl chees bridos. That's my ship off anytime, any day.
Speaker 4 (47:34):
So good.
Speaker 3 (47:35):
Yeah, I just it is a question.
Speaker 2 (47:38):
So coming from Compton, were you or do did you
remember Pioneer's Chicken? Did you ever do Pioneer's chicken?
Speaker 4 (47:45):
Pioneer and golden berry, golden bird?
Speaker 1 (47:47):
Okay that my mom was a.
Speaker 4 (47:48):
Golden golden bird. I don't know how they got that
crust that it was. It was really like is that
gold Yes, it was, it was golden. It was greasy as.
Speaker 3 (48:08):
Pioneer and golden berg.
Speaker 1 (48:11):
Lot.
Speaker 3 (48:12):
I'm a true Compton girly too.
Speaker 2 (48:14):
You notice, right, I grew up half of my life
in Compton, and so very much my family was like
we're going to Goldenburg or we're going to pioneer.
Speaker 3 (48:21):
We don't.
Speaker 1 (48:21):
We don't mess with Who was the other one? I
could churches churches meet funny? Yeah, what kind of.
Speaker 3 (48:31):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (48:35):
Yes, yes, it was very much you didn't you churches
was churches is using a rush? It was very much
giving better.
Speaker 4 (48:43):
Now they've turned it around around.
Speaker 3 (48:47):
Around all these references dreaming.
Speaker 4 (48:53):
I love it.
Speaker 1 (48:54):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (48:54):
With that being said, now that y'all have a whole
entire California food tour list, we have to pay on
scam and when we get back, it'll be time for
y'all's favorite segment, Yes ma'am and no Man Pam will.
Speaker 3 (49:05):
Be back in a second.
Speaker 1 (49:14):
All right, y'all.
Speaker 2 (49:15):
So with that being said, we're gonna get into y'all's
favorite segment, which is yes ma'am, No Man, Pam. This
is where we either celebrate something that we love or
that we're looking that we're looking forward to, or that
we see out there in the world that we just
want to celebrate, or we ultimately throw with no man,
we throw flowers at it and we basically let people know, yes,
(49:36):
the ones that are rotting rotting.
Speaker 4 (49:40):
Yes.
Speaker 2 (49:41):
So that being said, my yes ma'am, this week, I
wanted to note William Keating, who stood up for Senator
Sarah McBride. Now, I don't give White straight Man too
many flowers on this show, but I definitely do want
to say that I appreciate, like I hear this a
lot in my day to day as I'm working, people
like how do I mirror allies?
Speaker 3 (50:00):
How do I mirror how to be an accomplice?
Speaker 2 (50:02):
Watch that video that is a great example of how
you mirror being an accomplished to somebody who is LGBTQ
and is being attacked. They made it very simple. They said,
what do you mean you're gonna get it correct? If
you don't get it correct, then I'm leaving and we won't.
We want shut this shit down. And that's exactly what
William Keinny did. He shut that whole meeting down because
(50:23):
because Sarah McBride was being misgender and so that for
me is a quick two minute lesson in how you
be a true accomplice in this work. And so I
just want to give some flowers to him for that
and anyone else who's out there standing up for LGBTQ
people in moments where they know that lgbt people are
being attacked. So that's my slam this week.
Speaker 1 (50:43):
Now, my no man, Pam.
Speaker 2 (50:44):
I was initially gonna talk about this last week, but
it's a twofold one and it's also twofold because they're
one of the same. So I wanted to say Southwest
I got words I don't, but I also don't want
to come off as as elitist. So what I will
say is, you are Southwest companies that are doing these
(51:09):
things to get more money out of people. You are
screwing over a lot of people who need who I mean,
people go to Southwest because it's affordable, and so to
think now that you're now charging extra for like for baggage,
you know, I always remember.
Speaker 1 (51:25):
Yeah, especial because I see it was like, we'll probably
never do that, and then did it the next year.
Speaker 4 (51:31):
Right.
Speaker 2 (51:31):
It's just like capitalism knows no bound. But I will
always remember the hearing a story of a woman who
I was I was on a Southwest flight, was going
to Las Vegas. She was explaining to I think her
seat mate why she was taking the flight and how
she was so happy she could get on Southwest because
she could afford it, and you know, and it was
just it was a really interesting story to hear, and
I'm like, wow, there's a lot of people who you
(51:51):
Southwest because that's literally what they can afford. And I
know their spirit and I know these all these other places,
but it just it really sucks to see companies really
like hunkered down on capitalism. And I just really wanted
to say fuck you Southwest for that. So you're like, ooh,
these brand deals going out the window. The other one
what I want to talk about is I want to say,
(52:12):
hotels that charge you a lot of money, but the
WiFi is shitty?
Speaker 1 (52:20):
Why am I paying three forty nine at night and
I can't watch my good shows? I am missing amazing,
especially if I'm paying for if I'm paying for the
Wi Fi as well.
Speaker 2 (52:31):
Sorry, sorry, I just wanted to put my hands out,
especially if I'm paying for the Wi fi too, Like
I'm missing amazing race at this moment, because your internet
is trash and Southwest your internet.
Speaker 1 (52:43):
Is also trashed. Also, don't think you're out of the
that you're out of it?
Speaker 4 (52:47):
Are they get Wait? Because Southwest also was very fat girlfriend.
Speaker 1 (52:56):
Yeah, I said, fuck are you five bitches?
Speaker 4 (52:58):
Fuck are you? Bra you?
Speaker 1 (53:00):
Media and ship but.
Speaker 4 (53:02):
It's real big and here.
Speaker 2 (53:12):
Big, you have to pay for both of these, but yeah,
twenty twenty six, girls, there will be there no more
two seats, so southwest and your shitty, your shitty air
fair prices, the bags, the wi fi, anybody would just
shitty WiFi in general. Please like and this in a,
I just I can't I know, I.
Speaker 1 (53:33):
Will say, because so I don't know that they have
us out here, but Sunday Ago you can do your
parking meters on app online.
Speaker 3 (53:40):
And so I'm like, clearly the media's got wi fi?
Speaker 1 (53:44):
Why do not? Why do not have Wi Fi on
the hotel? This Like, clearly the meeting can track my
payment from her from from three miles away, right, but
you can't give you the Wi fi from upstairs? Yeah, girl, girl,
And I want to call. I want to call.
Speaker 2 (53:57):
I'm not calling them out. I want to call them
in Lakenta. I just had to stay with you for
a training.
Speaker 3 (54:04):
We can talk. Your WiFi needs a little bit of help, Lakina.
I want to talk.
Speaker 2 (54:10):
Well, Courtyard, I didn't pay for it, very clear that
I was there for a retreat, didn't pay for But Lakinga,
I'm gonna need you to step it up. But anyway,
all that to be said, that's my my No ma'ams,
(54:30):
what about.
Speaker 1 (54:31):
You, joho, I'm it's the name. I was like, damnfaces
are good.
Speaker 2 (54:40):
Well listen, bitch, let me also talk about this. So
I'm gonna also put you on games. So did I
tell y'all that a lot of these restaurants are now
charging you a surcharge.
Speaker 3 (54:51):
For fucking eggs?
Speaker 1 (54:52):
Did I say that on?
Speaker 2 (54:56):
It?
Speaker 1 (54:56):
Never get in my life?
Speaker 2 (54:57):
Okay, So believe this, Chris, because I actually liked this
place charged me a dollar surcharge for eggs? Where else
did I go recently? And the nigga was like, here's
an edition.
Speaker 4 (55:11):
Else?
Speaker 2 (55:13):
But yeah, so this this brings me to my point.
So then again, go to this company retreat. Lakinta is
the place where we're staying.
Speaker 3 (55:21):
No shade.
Speaker 1 (55:22):
I understand budgets, right, everybody's on the budget. I get it.
Speaker 2 (55:25):
When we're checking in one of the guys that one
of the I'm gonna say, guys, one of the people
that I was with, had said, oh, you know we
have breakfast. We have They're like, yeah, but just f
y I We're not doing eggs with breakfast anymore. We're
doing bacon. Because of the whole eggs. So I'm like, ba,
who wants bacon and sausage with the waffle? I want
eggs with my wifle.
Speaker 1 (55:46):
So they substitute said the.
Speaker 3 (55:51):
Bacon.
Speaker 1 (55:51):
Yes, because that is that is that.
Speaker 3 (55:59):
Happened, That really happened.
Speaker 2 (56:01):
So I just want to put that out there that
you are being so charged for eggs and you are
being uh yeah, we're just we're living in the egg
less we let's.
Speaker 1 (56:08):
Also say like so just this is this will be
honest because I actually I'm out out of this because one,
there are several egg procketies can usually just egg which
is actually delicious, and you can use this beacon, not
that say that that's a great turative, but like you
could use that and also like you use totally there's
nothing you can do with four eggs besides like just baking.
Like they're just like like you're like designers make it work.
(56:28):
So I'm gonna make people who charge for egg whites
let me just because you have me. Now you have
me hot because my biggest but the bam existence why
go to a restaurant ask for egg whites? They charge
you like four dollars charge for less egg? Yeah, girl,
because you're not getting the.
Speaker 3 (56:42):
Yolks and it's not what.
Speaker 4 (56:46):
I mean.
Speaker 3 (56:47):
I mean, but am I paying for wais disposal?
Speaker 1 (56:49):
Girl? Go pick com be in the holidays? Good day?
Speaker 4 (56:53):
Right?
Speaker 1 (56:53):
Don't even charge me for the for the yo disposal girl?
Well that diamond?
Speaker 3 (56:59):
I am so mad?
Speaker 4 (57:01):
Okay?
Speaker 1 (57:01):
Anyway, So who you got me hot about this? So
my yes, ma'am? So I yes. Man. My first yes,
ma'am is to be Teresa's phone screensaver because it is
of herself and I just want to know. I just
want to name I. Also my mine is also myself
on my phone? People and the like who has some
(57:22):
culves on their phone? I'm like, because most of the
man's the girls there there there, there's the cats, the dogs.
A fucking picture of a skyline. I got me, okay.
I love myself. That's all I need. Also gets me
into that.
Speaker 4 (57:38):
So I was.
Speaker 1 (57:41):
She got herself?
Speaker 4 (57:41):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (57:42):
That My second guest, ma'am is to Mariah Carey theah
the one good you Deserve was it was the the
the the Icon Award. But I just lived for her
facial expressions because she.
Speaker 3 (57:58):
Wasn't feeling toy or she didn't like any of them.
Speaker 1 (58:02):
Like and like like they like it's like she smiled
on cute but then like it quickly faded and and
she was like and like they they didn't realize that
they were filming for too long. I'm like, yeah, but
and but Torri wasn't really fantastic, like I thought she
ate that one. But Tory was amazing.
Speaker 2 (58:19):
So have you ever seen that that gift of or
say clip of Prince when they were doing the tribute
to Prince and he was throwing them shady looks. That
was very much she was and real.
Speaker 1 (58:30):
Time their belt belting their hearts out.
Speaker 3 (58:33):
She's like mm hmm. She wasn't having it. She wasn't
having it.
Speaker 1 (58:38):
Yeah, it was. I was living and I was like, man,
Mariah is taking me out of my No. Man, Pam
is okay did you hear about the gold card?
Speaker 2 (58:47):
That?
Speaker 1 (58:47):
Okay? So oh wait, yes, I did. The immigration card?
Speaker 4 (58:52):
Yep?
Speaker 1 (58:54):
Why this hell, I just cannot do it.
Speaker 3 (58:55):
You don't know about that, okay?
Speaker 4 (58:57):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (58:58):
Basically, so, the administration had announced none of us sure
or not, but at the State of the Union address,
if he was to go, they had announced that addition
to a Green card, one could buy a Gold card
to get into the country. Yes, but like the millionaire
say this, they'll just come in and pay taxes essentially,
but they can buy their citizenship. And I'm just like,
that is disgusting. That is so ros You want here
(59:20):
to nine people for citizenship for every the reason. But
you said, if you can spend a million US to
buy your way in, then you're good to go.
Speaker 3 (59:26):
Yep, girl, what.
Speaker 2 (59:28):
But what did I say earlier today? There is no
more like I don't want to get on a soapox
just I was just saying that we there is no
moral compass to evil. Listen like, there is no moral
So while I'm surprised, while I'm shocked, I'm not surprised.
Speaker 1 (59:46):
Also one more more, Yes, ma'am, I watched Paradise. I've
been It's good eight down.
Speaker 3 (59:52):
I don't know though.
Speaker 1 (59:53):
The acting fantastic, the storyline fantastic. Still in Krown's booty fantastic, fantastic.
I know his wife, so I got to be careful
about what I say about listen to me and her
and no, listen, girl, I love you and you did
that you love that man down Listen she If I
was I'd be like, I know, I know my man's
(01:00:15):
assess and I know that that people like it, and.
Speaker 3 (01:00:17):
That's good, Like that's hers right there. But I also
know their kids too, so oh Jacob Chris.
Speaker 1 (01:00:23):
But because I also because because you know I love Ryan,
you can keep it because I love Ryan and now
I would want her to be my friends lover as
much since First Watch Club. So Ryan, if you hear this,
know that it's you, like I say in appreciation. You
know of what you've done. Yes, you know that, that's all.
And if you hate it, it's okay. My name is
not Jordan. My name is actually Jacob. You can you
(01:00:46):
can see this is Jacob. Jacob.
Speaker 3 (01:00:50):
You're yes, ma'am saying you're no man's.
Speaker 4 (01:00:52):
Okay, So I can yes, ma'am like a word.
Speaker 3 (01:00:56):
Yeah, you can be anything you want.
Speaker 4 (01:01:00):
So let's I'm gonna yes, ma'am. Inspiration and because partly
because you have inspired me, whether you know it or not.
So I want you to know that. And I say
that because I am a procrastinator by nature. You know
(01:01:20):
this is what I do. I'm trying to get it
around to and I'm so busy. But then I found
myself sitting at home and I was taking a little
break before I came out here and realizing that I
have been talking about doing things and developing a new
show for myself, like a television show. Wow, So me
(01:01:41):
and my husband sat down and wrote the treatment for it.
Speaker 3 (01:01:43):
Oh my goodness, Yes, progress, I love that.
Speaker 4 (01:01:47):
You know what I stand what I'm saying. So be
on the lookout because I am going to be shopping
this man. I'm going to try to get this all going.
But I have been inspired and also to start working
with my book. I have three ideas for books now,
all of a sudden, and so where as I had nine,
I am suddenly like floodgates opened and I have a
(01:02:08):
lot to say. So there here's the inspiration. Yes, ma'am
to that? Yes, okay, so I had to do that
and my no, ma'am bitch. Okay, let's get to a
CV motherfucking ass Okay there all please, Okay. I went
to the CBS the other day ago. Okay, I've made
a post about this because I was hot the trot.
I went in there and I got gathered items that
(01:02:30):
I could carry with my two hands, now baby able
six items. I got a bag of popcorn, some baby
lashes that I would normally not even wear, but it
was I was like, oh, I'm gonna be on camera,
let me get the little little lash baby. Okay, so
(01:02:51):
I got the last two packages of makeup white and
something else. What else did I get? Aqua four?
Speaker 1 (01:03:01):
Yes?
Speaker 4 (01:03:02):
And yeah, seventy five? Nothing?
Speaker 1 (01:03:09):
Because I saw your possy You said.
Speaker 3 (01:03:11):
How much this.
Speaker 4 (01:03:14):
Screamy seventy five?
Speaker 3 (01:03:16):
Hold on? I saw that.
Speaker 2 (01:03:18):
What you know and is when you be traveling, there's
a part of you that's like, bitch, this is so
much money.
Speaker 1 (01:03:27):
But then the other part of you was like, you
need it, you.
Speaker 3 (01:03:30):
Need have it, like, but you got it.
Speaker 4 (01:03:33):
I went in there because I needed to do things
that I'm not gonna even get in. I didn't need to.
I didn't need to, but I wanted to put you back.
Speaker 1 (01:03:44):
Yeah, that one, it's the only way to do it.
Speaker 4 (01:03:48):
I didn't need to pop one. But still that wasn't
That wasn't the bank breaker, bitch. It was everything.
Speaker 3 (01:03:57):
Dollars. That's what took.
Speaker 1 (01:04:01):
God want some tension, like I.
Speaker 4 (01:04:09):
Take like vitamins, baby, I get ahead of the pain,
you know, I know that's.
Speaker 1 (01:04:14):
Right, Yeah, yeah, that is. CBS will get you. Some
pharmacy is out here. Pharmacy in the worst way yeah, yeah,
you'd be literally choked every time. Okay, my god, but yes.
Speaker 3 (01:04:36):
So we we don't speak your names. We don't speak
your name, all right.
Speaker 2 (01:04:42):
So with that being said, I know we have to
wrap up, and this has been Honestly, I'll say this
before I jump into the all of the stuff we
say before we wrap up the show. This has been
so reviving in the best way. Thank you LaTrece for
making the time. Thank you the trees for all that
you do. Thank you for the trees, for all that
you are. I don't know if enough people hear this
(01:05:02):
or know this, or I don't know if you hear
this enough about yourself, but you know, I again, I've
always followed you, I've always been watching you, and it
is such an honor to know you.
Speaker 3 (01:05:12):
It is truly.
Speaker 1 (01:05:13):
From the day that we met, it has been just
such an honor to know. In the back of my mind,
I always think, if LaTrece can do it, I can
do it. And I just really really want you to
know that. And so I'm just grateful is not even
the word. I'm just so grateful to know you, and
I'm just so thankful that you could be with us
today for having me you are a blueprint, truly, like
(01:05:34):
you are a blueprint for so many of us. Yeah,
and the dolls.
Speaker 2 (01:05:37):
And I'll say this too, the dolls who are quick
and I'm sure they probably don't listen to the show,
but there are girls out there who are quick to
talk about anybody and everybody in drag. Sit down and
learn something, Amen, sit down and learn something.
Speaker 3 (01:05:50):
I think we can.
Speaker 2 (01:05:51):
And this is this is where my practice has been
in my mind. Instead of me being so quick to
critique people, I try to sit down and go, what
can I learn from them? What can I And so
that for me is instead of me looking at my
sister and trying to critique them for what they do
and don't do, I look at my sister and I go,
what can I learn from the trees? And what I
have learned from you beyond the word of resilience. I
(01:06:12):
have learned the importance of taking your craft seriously. I
have learned the importance of saying like you said, speaking
speak words, having power like this is all of this
this is manifested. You know, all of this was manifested.
And so I, like I said, really take before you
critique someone, take a moment learn from somebody and go
(01:06:34):
back to season four and watch and and and.
Speaker 1 (01:06:36):
Get your life.
Speaker 2 (01:06:38):
If ya, if you are not in the season one
through five of Drag Race, you're not a true Drag
Race girl. Oh you are not a true Dry Race fan.
