Speaker 2 (00:16):
We call a woman whose dream is to be able
to roll out of her bed every morning, stay in
her pjs, and work from the comfort of her home
full time.

Speaker 3 (00:27):
What is it like?

Speaker 4 (00:28):
I know? Text it?

Speaker 2 (00:29):
We will never know at this job. Her company does
not make it easy. Hardly anybody gets approved. But she's
filled all of her paperwork out, completed the steps, and
she sees the finish line. Now we just need to
rip it away from her. She is approved for remote work.
We just have a different understanding of what remote means.

(00:52):
In your phone, tap right.

Speaker 5 (00:53):
Now another.

Speaker 3 (00:58):
Hello?

Speaker 6 (01:00):
Hi? Is this Diana?

Speaker 3 (01:03):
Yes, that's good morning.

Speaker 6 (01:05):
This is Jim Gymnasium. I'm an administrative assistant here at
corporate HR Oh.

Speaker 3 (01:10):
Hi, Hi, sorry, how are you?

Speaker 6 (01:12):
I'm doing well? Thanks for asking. I'm calling because and
I know this has been a very long process for
you with feeling on applications and all the hours and requests.
But I hear you've been wanting to start working remotely. Yes,
you know how hard it is for that to get
approved of this company.

Speaker 3 (01:31):
Yes, I do. Yes, I've been trying for a year now.

Speaker 6 (01:35):
Wow, over a year. It's been that long. Well, I
feel even better than what I'm about to tell you.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
What is it.

Speaker 6 (01:42):
You have officially been approved for remote work?

Speaker 3 (01:46):
Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh wow, thank you.

Speaker 6 (01:50):
You're welcome. Yeah, so, starting next month, you'll begin working
from our remote offices in Antarctica.

Speaker 3 (01:56):
Just exciting Antarctica.

Speaker 6 (02:00):
You've heard of it. What an opportunity. It's a beautiful there,
I've heard. Okay and quiet, a lot of time to
think when you're working.

Speaker 3 (02:08):
Jim, Jim, I do appreciate you calling let me know
that I've been approved. I've been applying to work remote
from home.

Speaker 6 (02:16):
That's what working remote from our company means. In this company,
you will be very remote. It's hard to get there.

Speaker 3 (02:23):
Definitely feels like I'm misundersting because I understand what you're
talking about in terms of remote work. But I assure you,
at least half of the applications that I've been filling
out over the years, says work from home remote.

Speaker 6 (02:36):
Okay, No, I understand it sounds like you may want
to speak to maybe a supervisor or somebody about it.

Speaker 3 (02:41):
I would absolutely yeah, if you have a supervisor, I
would love to just get some clarity on this.

Speaker 6 (02:46):
Well before I transfer you over. Just think in your head.
Antarctica right, I've never been, but I hear it's beautiful,
like polar bears and seals and glaciers.

Speaker 3 (03:00):
Jim, could you just cancer me?

Speaker 5 (03:01):
Yes, my apologies, Diana, Yes, Hi, am I seeking this.

Speaker 7 (03:15):
This is Marcy Whitehead. I'm Marcy. Yeah. My assistant told
me you're having some issues with remote work.

Speaker 3 (03:22):
Yes. I was just on the phone with your associate, Jim,
I believe, and he wanted to let me know that
I've been approved for remote work and then said that
the remote work would be taking place in your remote
office in Antarctica.

Speaker 6 (03:39):
A little.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
Actually, it's a lot different from what I thought I
was applying for.

Speaker 7 (03:44):
I'm going to interrupt you right there.

Speaker 4 (03:46):
I'm going to interrupt you right there because I see
the misunderstanding here.

Speaker 7 (03:50):
You know what, We're going to get this resolved.

Speaker 3 (03:52):
Okay, fantastic, Yeah, because I've been applying for work from home.

Speaker 7 (03:55):
And can you stop talking so a lot of words? Okay,
let me look here.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
I think that was rude.

Speaker 7 (04:03):
Okay, I think you've been approved for remote work, so
i'd probably watch how you speak to your superiors.

Speaker 3 (04:09):
Okay, I'm see.

Speaker 7 (04:11):
We can send you. I see the issue. We can
actually send you to our office in Siberia. That actually
would work better. I don't know, I'm really really all
right approved.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
No, No, you're not understanding. I don't want to work
anywhere but from home.

Speaker 7 (04:29):
It's already been put through this system. So I want
to give you a.

Speaker 3 (04:33):
Couple of it's already been put through the system. Yeah. No,
I'm sorry. What part of remote work means sending someone
off to Siberia. I've been following the guidelines and applying
for a year to be able to work from home.

Speaker 4 (04:44):
I have so much Okay, and again the yapping just
on and off with that mouth of yours. So these
are some important items you may want to write down.

Speaker 3 (04:52):
I need to talk about this. Yeah, but I don't
one part of your company doesn't understand what work remote means.

Speaker 4 (05:00):
You haven't obviously looked at the employee handbook it clearly
states that remote means as far away from the office
as possible.

Speaker 3 (05:06):
That is ridiculous. I am not getting shifted off to Antarctica.

Speaker 4 (05:10):
Okay, no, not Antarctica. Remember we moved you to Siberia.

Speaker 3 (05:14):
Whatever the point is, I'm not going there different.

Speaker 7 (05:17):
Have you looked at a globe before listen?

Speaker 3 (05:20):
I thought this was a done deal. I'm very frustrated.
I either need you to escalate the situation to someone
who actually knows what's going on, and.

Speaker 4 (05:26):
Yeah, all escalate it, Escalate it really quickly, and send
you right over to your roommate, Michelle.

Speaker 3 (05:31):
My roommate Michelle. What does Michelle have to do with this, Well.

Speaker 4 (05:34):
She has everything to do with it, because she's the
one that set you up for this prank phone call,
are you Yeah, this is actually Brooke and jose Hey,
Brook and Jeffrey in the morning.

Speaker 7 (05:46):
We're doing a phone tap on you.

Speaker 3 (05:48):
Oh my gosh, my heart in my throat, my stomach,
it in my heart.

Speaker 7 (05:53):
We don't know, we don't know if you've got to
prove for remote work or not. But maybe this will
make you feel better about going into the office. Oh
my god, yes, perspective, it changes everything. Wake up every
