Speaker 2 (03:38):
Gil.

Speaker 1 (03:38):
We're gonna jump right into it. The Lakers hold off
the Pelicans in the play in tournament. They win one
ten to one O six. They beat them pretty beat
them by sixteen, I think on Sunday. With that win,
the Lakers now to face the defending champ. The Lakers
are the seventh seed. They face the two seed Nuggets
in the first rounds of playoffs, which start Saturday. The
Pelicans will play the Sacramento Kings an elimination game for

(04:01):
an opportunity to host to our excuse me, not the host,
but to play the OKC thunder who are the number
one seed. Lebron James had a team hired twenty three
points to go along with.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
Nine to six nine rebounds.

Speaker 1 (04:12):
D Lo had it going pretty good tonight, twenty one
points seven assis on five to eleven from three eighty
put up twenty points notch the game Hog fifteen rebounds,
Zion Williamson forty points, but walked to the locker room
late in the ball game with what Willy Green WILLI
Green later described as left leg soreness. For you to

(04:33):
leave a game of that magnitude, I think it's a
little bit more than soreness.

Speaker 2 (04:39):
We'll talk about that as we go, Gil, But what
did you okay? Shams? Where is it at? Uh huh?

Speaker 1 (04:47):
Well, y'all got shams on speed Dollar Summer. Shawm's is
reporting against a left hamstring injury. Left hamstring injury. Like
I said, Gail, you're not leaving a game of this
magnitude with so much on the line with a little soreness.
You're gonna play through that because guess what, you win

(05:10):
that ball game, you get Wednesday off, you get Thursday off,
you get Friday off, and you have an opportunity to
play Saturday. If you lose this game, guess what, you
gotta flip it around and play Thursday, and then you
have to probably play again on Saturday if you were
to win that game. So we knew something was seriously
going on with Gail with that situation. Excuse me with okay,

(05:32):
Sean says it's believed that he'd suffered the left hamstring
injury to night tests coming Wednesday. Zion and Brandon Ingram
combined for eight total minutes in the fourth quarter. It
seems like b I was on a minutes restriction because Gail,
you remember he missed the previous twelve games with that
left knee contusion. He played Sunday on the minutes restriction,

(05:53):
played tonight on the minutes restriction. But what you saw
tonight the Lakers, they pull it out, got jump out
to a big lead, big lead, got a little reckless,
got a little careless, ended up closing the ball game
out late. What did you like about what you saw
from the Lakers besides the win? And what did you dislike?

(06:14):
You know, Delo came out playing very well, right, Uh
he jump started you know that first that first half, right,
you know, he hit some big, big threes, you know,
to get the game going, and then from there we
played pretty solid. You know, I'm not gonna lie. There
was a couple of times where we do a lot

(06:36):
of standing around, but a bunch of plays that just
doesn't make sense logistically, right. I remember a d bring
the ball Lebron is right next to him, right, Instead
of giving Lebron the ball to do a pick and roll,
he brings it up. They do some phantom stuff to
give Lebron the ball to do the same pick and roll. Yeah,

(06:57):
while we out here wasting energy like this. From there,
I did like Gabe, he deserve it after right, I don't.
I'm not sure how he picks up girls being the
NBA player because he's little, so I know that gets
a little confusing sometimes and I'm pretty sure he has

(07:17):
to prove he has to pull out some id on
that one.

Speaker 2 (07:20):
But for the most part, I think we played eight turnovers.
You can live.

Speaker 1 (07:27):
You can live with that, Gil, And we got seven blocks,
you had eight steals. You only had eight turnovers. Your
fourth twelve turnovers. Uh, so you could live with that.
I just thought, Lady the shot clock, Lebron led him
up the hook, bro Why you holding the ball? You
drive the ball for twelve cent if you hold it
and then you throw up a shot with like three

(07:48):
two or three two one brot. Especially because the outfits
had grown stagnant. So now let's get some type of
action that we get somebody moving instead of just standing
around Lebron go to the pick and roll, he gets
the switch, he throws the hand up, They throw it
to him, and now he's at the top of the key.
Everybody's standing around. What you're gonna do, Lebron. You're gonna

(08:09):
make a move, you gonna drive, you go drive a kick?
What are you looking for? I just thought there was
a lot of that, especially with the last five minutes
of the ball game.

Speaker 2 (08:17):
Gil. I thought there was too much of that going on.

Speaker 1 (08:22):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's it's It seemed like we were
just trying to get the game away.

Speaker 2 (08:28):
You know.

Speaker 1 (08:29):
It became a basket for basket at the end. There
was too much hope, you know, the last two minutes
we made We just made more plays, you know, at
the end. But you know, my thing with a team
like Pelicans, why would you have a player on minute restriction?

(08:53):
Either you play him or you don't, right, because if
you lose this game, you have another game, right, So
don't put minute restrictions.

Speaker 2 (09:04):
Lose this didn't minute restriction the next game too, you
know what I mean?

Speaker 1 (09:07):
So either you should have went all out to win
this game or see your Thursday. Anyway, I just don't
like the whole idea of minute restrictions because that means
you're not following the game in real time.

Speaker 2 (09:19):
That means you're clock watching.

Speaker 1 (09:21):
And if you're clockwatching, if he's playing, well, you're gonna
take him out at the wrong time, right, which always
usually happens.

Speaker 2 (09:28):
Right.

Speaker 1 (09:28):
So I didn't like that idea, and hopefully Denver does
that in the first round.

Speaker 2 (09:36):
You know, Murphy's on minute restriction. I need you, I
need drinking a Murray is five.

Speaker 1 (09:44):
But if we get Yo playing somewhere round of twenty
five to thirty minutes a night, I'll be okay with that.
Uh yeah, I agree, I thought, but lebron semed tired
tonight because I saw it missed like three or four
layoff Gill. I'm telling that point blank. I'm telling me
I could have made though, but it seemed.

Speaker 2 (10:00):
Like his legs. You know, he played.

Speaker 1 (10:02):
He played a lot of minutes the other night, and
then the comeback he played forty one minutes to night.
Is nice because at one point Gilt he was five
or nine. He ended up six to twenty. I think
he missed like nine shots in a row. He no, yeah,
he did miss some easy, easy, easy around the rim buckets.

(10:23):
You know it happens, right, you know, especially especially with
someone like him. He gets to the gym one two
o'clock and he's preparing for the game, so he really
on his feet and doing a lot of active work.
When when he's when he's energized, looks great. When he's

(10:46):
normally looks great. But those days where he looks for tigue,
he's really fatigue. One time he kind of got he
was going a little bit too fast. He's made a
great move and then he was traveling too fast. He
missed a couple of point blank Zaion got him from behind.

Speaker 2 (11:00):
He did it. He been doing that goddamn career.

Speaker 1 (11:08):
He don't.

Speaker 2 (11:10):
He wants to me. Was he get going? Was he
yet going? It's hard.

Speaker 1 (11:13):
It's hard to stop a dump truck going forty miles
an hour because if you're not paying attention, you slamming
in the back of somebody.

Speaker 2 (11:21):
But they were able to pull it out. Like I said, Zion, unbelievable.
You came.

Speaker 1 (11:25):
He came out tonight. He was extremely aggressive. He wasn't
going to make you make him settle for jump shots.
He was dipping that shoulder, got a couple of charges.
But I'm going to the basket now stop me. Uh
forty points, eleven rebounds, five assists, a steal, a block
in thirty six minutes, seventeen of twenty seven from the field,

(11:45):
uh six to nine from the free throw line.

Speaker 2 (11:47):
I thought Zion played unbelievable.

Speaker 1 (11:50):
Herb Jones hit a big three, he walked into a three,
kind of got their rhythm going Alvarado, you know, grand
theft Alvarado. You know he came in there doing what
he kN m he does, taking people's pocket.

Speaker 2 (12:02):
Uh. But it's gonna be a very interesting matchup.

Speaker 1 (12:05):
Well, look, I'm not giving them much of a chance
if Zion doesn't play, If Zion doesn't play, I'm not
picking them to beat Sacramento. I'm sorry. And that's what
you know. I don't want to. I don't want to.
I don't want to like minimize someone. But Zion the
way he was playing tonight, and he's a central piece
and b I is probably gonna be on another minute

(12:28):
restriction and CJ, CJ. You know, he came back down
there because for the last ten games been off the charts,
especially like last seven games.

Speaker 2 (12:38):
I think you would have your like thirty shooting fifty
from the three. He came every obity.

Speaker 1 (12:48):
Zion, Zion, whatever money that he lost slash year, he
earned it. He earned it back the three years that
wasn't guarante. See, he earned that money back, right. You know,
he played seventy something games.

Speaker 2 (13:07):
He came. He came towards the end. He was playing
great basketball.

Speaker 1 (13:11):
So I know they're hopeful going into the summer going
into next year. So you know, them getting to the
playoffs are not It is really not important to them
right now. The fact that you finally have a healthy
Zion going into the summer. You know, I don't know
how this hamstring is. Hopefully it's not too serious where

(13:33):
he's not missing big chunks of time in the summer.
So I'm very very proud of the guy, and you know,
I can't wait to see what he does next year.
But for them as a group, I mean, they can
just let it go. So because they won this ball game.
The Lakers are the seventh seed, I mean the seventh seed.

(13:54):
They played the two seed, which is the defending champs,
the Denver Nugget. Last year against the Nugget against the Lakers,
Nicole yo Gets averaged twenty eight points fourteen and a
half rebounds, twelve of sis on fifty one percent shooting
from the floor forty seven percent from the three hens
sweet sweep.

Speaker 2 (14:16):
What does the Lakers have to do?

Speaker 1 (14:19):
Because the Lakers are the best team in the clutch
last five minutes game within five points, pulled another one
out tonight. Them and the Mavericks had the best records
in the NBA, So we know the Lakers know how
to win close ball games, although you couldn't probably tell
from last year because they had a couple of situations
where the Nuggets just out executed him, put them in
the pick and roll drive a drive handoff where Yok

(14:41):
and Murray, and Murray took the game over. If he
didn't take it over, Yolk took it over. So what
do the Lakers need to do, Cause you're not gonna
stop it, but you gotta slow him down. You can't
let him have twenty eight to fifteen and twelve, not
last year. But you know, yes, the confidence is on

(15:03):
Denver side.

Speaker 2 (15:04):
Of course we are a great.

Speaker 1 (15:10):
We are a great last five minute teams against everybody
but den.

Speaker 2 (15:19):
But the Nuggets.

Speaker 1 (15:20):
Right the way they play the game, we know between
the two stars, they are making every single play right
herby's making a play for himself for others, or your
Kisch is making a play for himself for others. So
in the last it's those two guys are generating everything
that's going on. If it's a close game, we have

(15:45):
to the Lakers have to understand that there's two guys,
two guys only. They're going to play the two man game,
and we have to figure out how to control it.
And on offense, we don't need no defense inside the game,
right and know, Torean Prince, I'm sorry, not right now,

(16:08):
right not right now? Put ruly in put reeves in
have de we if we gonna play two man games,
we need all shooting threats on the on the court.
We don't need nobody trying to play defense because the
guy you're gonna be guarding is sitting in there.

Speaker 2 (16:24):
You're gonna be guarding KCP. He ain't going nowhere.

Speaker 1 (16:27):
He gonna be in the corner somewhere, all right, We
don't need your expert, you know, defense in a corner.

Speaker 2 (16:34):
So therefore you don't need to be on the court
right now.

Speaker 1 (16:37):
So hopefully we don't have one of those defensive lineups
in the game at the wrong time.

Speaker 2 (16:43):
Other than that COVID. We're gonna need COVID twenty twenty four.
Add Ad.

Speaker 1 (16:50):
He's gonna need to play like he played when they
were in the bubble and he went up against Jokic.
He's gonna have to probably give you slightly more than
what he average. He's probably gonna have to be somewhere
around he ate and fifteen a game, because you're gonna
have to look if you say your two stars, if
you say Lebron and AD neutralized. So whatever they give

(17:11):
you offensively, a D and Lebron, whatever Yo can Murray
give you offensively? Lebron and AD give you offensively, Now
you make it a series. Michael Porter Junior, Aaron Gordon
and KCP against Ruy d Low and Austin Reeves. Who

(17:31):
we can win that see listen, listen, listen. If we
get oh, yeah, the d Low. If we get I'm
about to cut your ass d Low. If we get
him good, they good. Hey, Hey, this should be telling hey, hey,
were about to ship your ass to not the falls.

Speaker 2 (17:51):
You better get in here and get the buckets.

Speaker 1 (17:53):
If we get Dlo playing out, Delo has been playing
and not that Dlo we had last year in the
playoff at what in that round, we should be fine
because he he has to match Murray point for point
if he can back. If Murray's averaging twenty and Dido's
averaging about fifteen, we went in that.

Speaker 2 (18:14):
Do that or no he can he can't. He can't
do that.

Speaker 1 (18:17):
All you know, they come off the bench, Reggie Jackson,
so I bench. It's gonna have to Reggie. But and
bron Those those are your energy guys. Those are guys
you know when you're at home, the crowd get behind you.
He's gonna get a couple of rebounds. Hes gonna get
a lob Reggie. You know, Reggie Jackson, man, hey man,
he plays good and big games.

Speaker 2 (18:39):
Gil he does.

Speaker 1 (18:44):
You know what I'm gonna just say, listen, we just
got to put some Detroit Piston Detroit Piston signs out
there because for some reason, just lit just put the
Detroit Piston signs out there. Hopefully he revers back. But
this is like my last week of roote for my Lakers. Unfortunately,
I got I got hit with uh what is that called?

Speaker 2 (19:08):
We had to do full teams out of the hat.

Speaker 1 (19:12):
I think it's I think it was rig because they
gave me the two teams that I don't like, right,
I got I got you done, You done the first
in Milwaukee, so I got them, yeah, and then I
have the Clippers, So I got a root for the Clippers.

Speaker 2 (19:33):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (19:35):
Hey, hopefully we hopefully I lose both so I can
start voting from the Lakers. But I got a straight
ship for the Bucks and the Clippers without Yander. In
the playoffs, the Bucks were struggling with Indiana with Johannis
because that that's a good matchup, and then looking to
push the pace Brook Lopez ain't keeping up, Porters not

(19:58):
keeping up, and so oh that's not a good matchup
for them. We have a poll up right now, Gail.
Do the Lakers have a chance against the Nuggets? Lakers
in seven forty six percent, Gentlemen sweep thirty one percent,
Sweet thirteen percent, Nuggets in seven ten percent. So we
got a lot of Laker fans in here because they
say the Lakers are gonna take it in seven.

Speaker 2 (20:27):
All right, I got it.

Speaker 1 (20:28):
I got a couple more days because once the playoffs start,
I'm a Flipper fan, more new pole, more delusional fans.
Laker fans are cowboys, cowboys running away with this three
to what, three to what?

Speaker 2 (20:41):
Cowboys? For sure? The Kings beat the Warriors to night
one to eighteen ninety four.

Speaker 1 (20:52):
Keegan Murray had thirty two points nine rebounds on eight
to thirteen. Shooting from a three point line, he had
more points and threes then the Splash Brothers combined. Golden
State spent three hundred and eighty two point five million
dollars on their roster this season, two hundred and five
million dollars, two hundred and six million dollars in salary
and one hundred and seventy seven million and the tax

(21:15):
pillder luxury tax? Was this the last time we see
the Big Three as we know it? Because Steph Clay
really really struggled tonight. If I'm not mistaken, he was
zero for ten from the floor, and I think he
was like zero for six from the three point line.
So do you believe Gil this was the last time

(21:38):
that we see the Big Three as we know it?

Speaker 2 (21:45):
You know, a drug?

Speaker 1 (21:47):
I have no idea, to be honest, because you know,
if Clay's gonna take a pay cut, then then yes,
I'm pretty sure he's signed back. I know, making the case.
This is where you know Clay is really really having
a hard time not being signed. The fact that you've

(22:08):
already had a horrible season, right, the one game you
can get to get your value back up, you put
out a zero, which is the first time he was
scoreless in about one hundred and fifty nine playoff games.

(22:28):
His worst playoff performance is the last thing we're gonna
remember when he's going into free agency. So if i'm him,
I don't know if he signs a one year deal,
if he wants a four year deal, it's gonna be
four year thirty. It ain't gonna be what he is.

(22:50):
Real value is. So whoever gets them, they stealing them, right,
So I don't see him going anywhere else. I do
see Warriors getting him for a very cheap price. It
seems like he only shoots really good against the Lakers.
Think about every time he comes to the crib, how

(23:11):
he shoots the ball. Gill the last two times he
showed up, Yeah, shot the Lakers out of the building.

Speaker 2 (23:18):
Steve kurr Fait after the loss.

Speaker 1 (23:20):
Me Clay back. He still has good years left. We
desperately want him back. Chris Paul nineteen seasons, zero championships
only Vince Carter twenty two seasons. Jamal Crawford twenty season
have played more seasons without winning a raging ring.

Speaker 2 (23:35):
It is Chris Paul back.

Speaker 1 (23:40):
Oh nah, he ain't back. Oh this is oh, this
is oh, this way. This is Chris Paul's first this
is the first time he missed the playoffs in about
fourteen years. Woo. I know he's talteam because he's a competitor,
right well, you know he's a competitor. So right now
he can competing against father tad. He ain't competing against nobody,

(24:03):
nobody on the court. It's father tied and he and
father time with it.

Speaker 2 (24:11):
You know what I mean.

Speaker 1 (24:11):
I feel sorry for those guys right the the Chris Paul's,
the Steve Nash, the John Stockton's, because of this, the
idea of who they are, right, They are there to
get you better, to make it look better than you

(24:34):
really are. So there's guys Chris Paul made look good
that got a check off of his passing ability. And
the fact that these guys are not being rewarded with
the ring.

Speaker 2 (24:51):
It's like, why do you do it? Right? You got
guys out here scoring thirty forty winning rings.

Speaker 1 (24:57):
You got guys having in four five points starting and
a guy who's who's delivering contracts. That's what he out there,
delivering contracts, and then he goes and he can't complete
his career. But I look at it like this, Him
winning the ring doesn't put him above.

Speaker 2 (25:18):
He's not. And you know what I mean.

Speaker 1 (25:20):
If he's not in front of John Stockton, you win
a ring at the end of your career, you playing
minimal minutes, that doesn't do it for me. Like you
win in the ring. Being the guy lets me know
where you are. So if you're in front of John
Starking or not in front of John Stockton, that's where
you are.

Speaker 2 (25:38):
With or without.

Speaker 1 (25:40):
He don't get You don't get in front of him
because you win a ring coming off the bench, averaging
for free. That's not how it works. So what so
what what of the war? You hear Steve Kirk what
he supposed to say?

Speaker 2 (25:51):
I think he said all the things that a head coach's.

Speaker 1 (25:54):
Supposed to say in that situation. We won't step, we
won't clay back. We believe clay uh has years left.
But you don't get to be as wealthy as is
Joe Lakam and Peter grub By spending one hundred and
seventy seven million dollars in missing the playoffs because guess what,
you could slash payroll considerably and miss the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (26:19):
Mm hmm.

Speaker 1 (26:21):
Yeah. But but they're they're in this real life. I'm
pretty sure they're gonna offload Wiggins. Right, they're gonna offload Wiggins.

Speaker 2 (26:32):
Right.

Speaker 1 (26:33):
The first thing is gonna see what they can get
Clay four. Right, if you can get what they are
two years, four year forty yeah, right, two year thirty,
two year thirty five, he takes it, I'll I'll take

(26:54):
Clay back for that price, right, two year thirty five,
two year thirty, Yeah, I'm taking that he got He's
not gonna get that money anywhere else. So I'm pretty
sure they're gonna off Wiggins, give kaminga.

Speaker 2 (27:10):
Well, you're gonna give Kaminga that spot.

Speaker 1 (27:13):
This is what I don't mind. Three for Andrew Wiggins.
You can have my Commodore albums? What about BT Express?
Would you like to have CAO? Hold on? Hold on?
You don't Ohio players? You still got lot I got

(27:42):
l T Hello, I got l T Yah Yeah, l
TV Stranger, I got Atlantic Star, Telemates, other Universe.

Speaker 2 (27:55):
I heard of Earth Wind, the Fire, the arcade.

Speaker 1 (28:00):
No, now you can't have all these. Now, I'm gonna
give you about five. I got Big Lady Williams because
I love you. Hein't open eyes, another earth winding Fire,
I got TV, the Grass and last but not heard
of Teddy. So I'll give you four of those hands.

Speaker 2 (28:23):
That's all I got. I ain't got no playoffs.

Speaker 1 (28:28):
I'm I'm just gonna say they're gonna reject that because
I don't even think they got a machine that can
play that. Hey, and I throw a penny and to
hold it down so it don't skip on you.

Speaker 2 (28:38):
So you take that pity down? You are you throwing
that wheaties? Our health? Everybody signed? No, na.

Speaker 1 (28:52):
I throw the wheaties boxing Now I'm getting swimbled now
that ain't no even swamp. Yes, it's hard to say
because for the luck, because the Golden State.

Speaker 2 (29:06):
Can you still be the Warriors with no Clay?

Speaker 4 (29:13):
No?

Speaker 1 (29:15):
Because the reason I say that is, look, yeah, just
won a championship a few years ago with this team.
I think once Clay gets his this this is just
one of those years.

Speaker 2 (29:33):
All the elements that life hit hit now.

Speaker 1 (29:39):
I mean, you know, thinking about that money want that
money and it probably it got to them all season.
He probably need to get on that boat. You know,
shed this season it happens. You've been You've been grateful
a long time, right, you know you the battles you need.
Nobody thought you was gonna be the same. You want
a championship. People talking about it like it happens.

Speaker 2 (30:02):
Right, you know you got you just gotta. You can't
just this is one.

Speaker 1 (30:07):
Of the be be grateful of the career you had
reflect on, right.

Speaker 2 (30:13):
What do you've accomplished so you know where you're going next? Right?
I think sometimes.

Speaker 1 (30:20):
We were not living in real time, right, so we
feel depressed not realizing this legacy we actually don't accomplished.

Speaker 2 (30:31):
And I think he needs to sit back and look
at the trail. He don't laid the foundation. He don't
lay lay.

Speaker 1 (30:37):
It for his kids, his family himself, right, And I
think once you see what he has done and sat back,
jumped out of his body and said, ship, Oh no,
I really I was really that dude.

Speaker 2 (30:51):
Coming into next season, the pressure's gone. You.

Speaker 1 (30:54):
You think the Warriors regret getting real real pool and
maybe try they moved on from Wiggins.

Speaker 2 (31:02):
I think they regret a lot of things.

Speaker 1 (31:06):
Bull going there obviously they thought he was going to
be the replacement of Steph, and he showed in Washington
that he just can't handle the pressure.

Speaker 2 (31:16):
That's why he did there because he didn't have to
be the doud you know he got.

Speaker 1 (31:22):
Yeah true, but but but but what happens is when
playing Curry Lee's he.

Speaker 2 (31:28):
Used to be.

Speaker 1 (31:29):
He's supposed to be the guy to step up, you know,
a tweeting type of guy.

Speaker 2 (31:34):
Uh, you know, it was it was a rough one.
He's that tweener.

Speaker 1 (31:37):
He's like, he's like, uh Deontay Murray, the one that
first trading right yeah, yeah, yeah, he's that.

Speaker 2 (31:51):
He's that, he's that tweener right now. I like him.
He's more stable. Well wise wise woman might might have been.
That was there. That was there.

Speaker 1 (32:02):
That was their mess up going after a big man,
knowing you don't use big men. You don't have offense
for that guy, right, you know that that's the year
you should have picked LaMelo ball.

Speaker 2 (32:18):
You had LaMelo and so you to ha LaMelo and
what's the name and food? Yeah, now that's the hell
of the future backcourt.

Speaker 1 (32:32):
Oh well, they got some they got some decisions now,
watching the Olympics. Watching the Paris Olympics. Wiggas go out
there and try to get the USA by faulting, you know,
everybody try to get try to get it too, the Red, White, Blue,
what they get get to the Olympics. If he goes
to the Olympics, and if he goes to the Olympics

(32:53):
and score twenty, they should whoop his ass when he
gets back to go. It's time for our first segment
of the night Gale, and it's called a NewsCap. I
guess Gail I said something today. I went viral for

(33:16):
saying that ok See is the weakest number one overall
seed we've seen recently. For the UH for the Win
wrote an article that Ash couldn't wait to bring to
my attention. They wrote, if you had to guess how
many how many Oklahoma City thunder games do you think
Shannon Sharpers watched more?

Speaker 2 (33:32):
Do you think?

Speaker 1 (33:33):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (33:33):
If I'm being completely honest, I'm setting the over under
at five.

Speaker 1 (33:38):
Considering that you're writing this, that's another hearing to there,
and that feels like it's I'm being a little generous
because there's just absolutely no way sharp has tapped into
that many thunder games. This year, and with all that
he has has to do. HM, let's see what Shannon
Sharp jobs requires.

Speaker 2 (33:55):
Him to do watch games?

Speaker 1 (33:57):
Dum dump. I guess it's presumptual of me to think
that Harpe had to watch many Thunder games this year.
But honestly, the only way I can imagine someone coming
up with a hot take he pulled out on first
take today.

Speaker 2 (34:09):
Guys.

Speaker 1 (34:10):
Sometimes when guys have an opinion, it's just not a
hot take. That's just my opinion. I don't think any
I don't think anybody was like, oh my god, please
let us aboard the Thunder like they used to do. Okay,
like they used to like they did the Warriors like
they like. Ain't nobody really try to get up to
play the Nuggets or you know, obviously you know, the
Kobe Lakers and things of that nature. Oh, when Lebron

(34:33):
was in the East, wasn't nobody trying to see Lebron?
But that ain't no hot take, Brom. Just I'm looking
at your team. Yeah, your team won fifty seven games,
you're the number one seed, but you're young, you're not
battle tested. So teams that are battle tested looking at y'all, like, okay, yeah,
we want y'all.

Speaker 2 (34:50):
I know the.

Speaker 1 (34:50):
Lakers, the Lakers would have given anything to play Okay,
see in the first round.

Speaker 2 (35:00):
That's facts.

Speaker 1 (35:01):
But did he have facts to back up his statement
that they're not the worst number one team in history? No,
or not in history, but in the last years. Yeah,
the only team that I can think of that would
be worse.

Speaker 2 (35:21):
But they were. They were a star studyed, No, that
was a star. He was a star.

Speaker 1 (35:25):
But he didn't play that much that year after the lockout.

Speaker 2 (35:29):
The Bulls, the Derek Rules Bulls.

Speaker 1 (35:34):
It was a fifty and sixteen that in sixteen team
well there missed twenty three games that year, right, and
that team they were starting shit, Carlos Boozer, Lou All Dain, CJ. Watson,

(35:55):
I think came off the bench, No, Joe Kim, Noah,
nobody averaged. That team didn't even average more than fifteen points.
Like they lost, and they end up losing in the
first round. But because Derek Rose missed so many games,
I would say they would have been the worst number

(36:18):
one because of because he missed games due to you know,
just the ankle injury there. Okay, see they're young, of course, right,
not experienced the difference is they played those The main
starting five all plays seventy plus right, very young, play together,

(36:42):
play smart, hungry right.

Speaker 2 (36:46):
With young teams, egos are in check.

Speaker 1 (36:51):
Right, they have a problem coming up later on, but
as of right now, everyone knows their They have played
in two total playoffs serlds and twenty nineteen with the
Clippers in twenty twenty with a thunder. He's owing two
in those series. They're a young team. I like the
Williams kid. He's turning himself into a star. He can strow, get,

(37:13):
put the ball the floor, get to the rim.

Speaker 2 (37:15):
I like him. They got to they got some young
talented player.

Speaker 1 (37:18):
I like chat Chat's gonna challenge stuff at the rim,
stretch five and shoot the three.

Speaker 2 (37:23):
Hey, he's gonna protect the plane.

Speaker 1 (37:25):
He's coming, So you're constantly on high alert knowing that
he's lurking back there to probably throw your shot out,
throw your shot in the stands.

Speaker 2 (37:33):
But I didn't think. I didn't think I was saying,
was that outlandish? You know it was? It wasn't It
is not.

Speaker 1 (37:42):
I mean, come on, they know they're twenty two. Like
that's but that's the reason that Shay should be considered
the MVP. Because this is the youngest sit No one
expected them to be here. This is a college age team,
No one battle tested, no one is even all NBA anything.
Most of these guys barely made the rookie sophomore game.

Speaker 2 (38:06):
Right, So these guys have no experience in they're here.

Speaker 1 (38:10):
They get flowers, right because as much as we're looking
at this team for the future, this is it.

Speaker 2 (38:19):
They can't afford.

Speaker 1 (38:20):
Jaylen Williams, Chet, Josh Diddy, they can't afford this team, right.
These guys are playing to a point where they're all
gonna be a Max or super Max player, and the
fact that they signed Dork to that money kind of
messes up the next person that's coming, which would be
Jalen right, because you gotta stay funny for Chet, so

(38:42):
that means Josh you out of their son Acolade. All
our time leaves Gore has not earned in his lustrious
career is short, but he revealed them the shot. There
is one particular that blogs him. Let's take a listen
to what God James had to say about the war
that gets not alls at it.

Speaker 2 (39:00):
Is there an award you haven't won that still stings? Yeah,
Defensive Player of the Year Defensive Year.

Speaker 1 (39:08):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (39:09):
I mean that's the only award that I don't have
my house. That kind of stings. I talked about this before,
like it don't make it, don't make sense. It's almost
like what JAJ said about b How can she have
the most Grammys? Yeah, but never one album of the year.
So the year I finished second and Defensive Player of
the Year award, the guy who won Defensive Player of
the Year didn't even make first team on defense?

Speaker 2 (39:31):
Does it makes sense? Not even possible. I said it
at the time that it happened.

Speaker 1 (39:36):
How do you have a how do you have a
let's just say, how do you have an MVP of
a sport and he's not first Team All Pro or
he's not Mark Gasol is your Defensive Player of the
Year and he's not first Team All Defense. That makes
tell me a scenario that m VP that doesn't make

(40:01):
the m v P, that he's not an All Pro,
or an MVP that doesn't make the All I'm like, come on, bro,
what y'all doing here? At what did they ever release
the voting chart to see how those votes were, because
it looks like he got a whole bunch of he

(40:25):
got a whole bunch of votes for first place and
probably damn there last right, there was no in the middle.
I don't think that's ever happened in history where there
was a Defensive Player of the.

Speaker 2 (40:39):
Year award and it's made second team. How do you justify?

Speaker 1 (40:44):
How can somebody just the league MVP is second team
all in all NBA, because that's what you had. You
had a Defensive Player of the Year that was second
team All Defense.

Speaker 2 (40:57):
Yeah, you know, I'm gonna just play Devil's advocate here.

Speaker 1 (41:05):
If I'm Margot Sool, I'll say the same thing Lebron
is saying.

Speaker 2 (41:09):
I was Rob I want Defensive Player of the Year
and they put me on section team. But you know,
back then, that's when Lebron could sit in the chair.
It didn't matter.

Speaker 1 (41:21):
He could take your best, your best player, and late
in the ball games they would put him at the
five and he'd have to guard Tim Duncan.

Speaker 2 (41:30):
And he he could do that.

Speaker 1 (41:31):
Now now for the entirety of the game, say in
the last three to four minutes, they're like, hey, we
got to go this is what we're gonna do, And
he could do that. You put him in the picking roll,
he could go Hey, y'all remember d Rose when he
was MVP and Lebron locked him up. Legitimately he could
guard one. When did martin Sole ever become a defensive

(41:58):
play I mean, Tony Allen was the d defensive player.
It was the It was a gridd and grind team.
But I mean, that just shouldn't happen. Thirteen twenty thirteen, Yeah, thirteen. Yeah,
But also you have to remember this too, and this

(42:18):
is why we need to go to just the AI voting.
This would have been the Michael Jordanson area they want
to get MVP. Yeah, one final, he'd have been finals, MVP,
Defensive Player of the Year, Pete, he would have had finals,
MVP Champions, He would have had the same It would

(42:39):
have been the same run.

Speaker 2 (42:40):
And they took it from him.

Speaker 1 (42:42):
Right that that's you can't preserve history. You can't do it.
It's wrong. Like some of the things that they do
is just wrong for sports. You're you're you're taking accolades
from people and then you're using what you did against him.
You are cheating these people and then you say, well

(43:03):
you're not good enough because you don't have this. Well,
I don't have it because of your funky ass. And
that's the unfair part about it, Like even the final,
even that finals MVP where he averaged damn near thirty
nine thirteen and nine.

Speaker 2 (43:18):
Come on, doll, just stop. You even know who the
best player was in the finals. Just give the man
this goddamn trophy and keep it moving. No, there was
a reason that was an out rule. Oh my, how
he win?

Speaker 1 (43:34):
You don't supposed to have that awards when people's second game.
If you gave it to Lebron, you know, one says nothing,
but SI don't look that year Lebron the first team
All Defense, Like you said, that was when he was
he was fried. He was in his absolute prime. He
could sit in the chair for as long as you
need him. He could play forty minutes, guard your best

(43:54):
one through four and you you laid the ball game.
If you had a big and you needed to go small,
he could guard the fire. And they robbed him of
that oppert They robbed him. They they ain't nowhere around it.
Ain't nobody gonna look at him and say Mark Gasol
had a better defensive year than Lebron James. There's no
there's no way you could say it, because if he
had a you should have put him on the first

(44:17):
How do the how do the voters vote the man's
second team? But you vote that, Yeah, you should win
the Defensive Player of the Year and that's and that's
that's that's as wild and like this should be this
should yeah, like the too many report, you know, have
the referee have too many reports? They should have a

(44:37):
report after they finished voting, they see what they were thinking,
because this is you know, how they tell athletes, we.

Speaker 2 (44:44):
Don't want.

Speaker 1 (44:47):
Don't be politicians. We don't want to hear political stances
from you. Right, shut up and dribble. Those one hundred
and fifty voters, some of them were probably saying the
same thing to some of them. We know, just looking
at where they're from and where it's from. They don't
watch basketball. How the hell leget a vote? Some of

(45:09):
these people have a vote. In Royals, Mark noon't received
thirty place vote to win the award. Lebron had eighteen. Joke,
Kim Nor was the center that made first team and
he had thirteen first place votes. Yeah, they just found
a way not to give it, and they was messing

(45:31):
with the votes. Hey you know what, like, hey, you
know we still got to have something to hang over
Lebron's head because you know he got it. That's his
fourth MVP. You got four MVPs, you got two finals MVPs. Man, Hey,
defensive player of the Year. Now what he messed around

(45:53):
and go win another you know, oh what, hey, let's
just because now you turn around and guess what. Yannis
did it and it's not like it. I mean, it's
not what you call him the defensive Player of the Year.
I don't know if it was the same season. Was
it the same season? I think I think Elijah won
oki No. Ninety three three ninety three, that was the

(46:17):
championship ninety three because financial.

Speaker 2 (46:20):
He won the Player of the Year and final and
uh and he was an.

Speaker 1 (46:24):
M v P.

Speaker 2 (46:26):
Yeah. I don't know the defense.

Speaker 1 (46:27):
I don't know if the defense because I never paid
attention to defense, didn't pay well.

Speaker 2 (46:33):
Offense pace well on this side? What what? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (46:39):
He went back and back ninety three ninety four and
he won, he and he won the title. He won
the titles in ninety five, and he was the m
v P and he was the MVP year.

Speaker 2 (46:52):
Ninety three, ninety three.

Speaker 1 (46:56):
Yeah, Saturday ninety four, that was the he put that
work on David Robinson because David Robinson got the n VP.

Speaker 2 (47:03):
Remember David Robinson got the MVP and people thought a
key should have got it. He said, Okay, don't worry
about they got some don't you worry about it.

Speaker 1 (47:11):
I believe though, will you leave these this series, you're
gonna know who should have been the MVP of the league.

Speaker 2 (47:16):
And he did a demolition job with David Robinson, but
he did a demolition job on everybody.

Speaker 1 (47:33):
Jill Kawhi Leonard got the Final Tour and that got
the twelfth and final roster spot on Team USA for
the twenty twenty four Olympics. The eleven players are Lebron James,
Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, Joel Embiid, Anthony Davis, Devin Booker,
Anthony Edwards, Jason Tatum, True Holiday Bam out of Bio,
Tyreese Halliburton. Steve Kerr was serving coach for Team USA.

(47:54):
Kawhi's averaging twenty four point six rebounds for the Clippers,
but missed the final eight games of the regular season
with ME implement Nation and it's surgically replaired, repaired ME
training camp and that's exhibition games. H start happening in Vegas.
Our scheduled for July might be. But anyway, uh uh

(48:14):
do you think Team USA win gold? But yeah, they
gonna win gold. Yeah, they gonna win. They have enough,
they have enough talent on it. I just don't like.
I just don't like the guard player. It's it's it's
two week. We we gotta set an example, and you're
coming out there with Holiday and Halliburton right now when

(48:38):
it should be Kyrie yes and Brunson right.

Speaker 2 (48:43):
And this is this is how I look at it.

Speaker 1 (48:45):
I'm from I don't know what they've done after ninety six,
but whatever it's been on, it's been on some friendship
bracelet type of picking.

Speaker 2 (48:55):
Because ninety two.

Speaker 1 (49:00):
Twelve players, nine of the players were all NBA players.

Speaker 2 (49:04):
The only the weakest.

Speaker 1 (49:06):
The weakest players were Magic he didn't play that year, Bird, the.

Speaker 2 (49:09):
Humanity, and then and then we had.

Speaker 1 (49:12):
Christian right, those were the three weakest league everybody else
all NBA players. Ninety sixteen, All twelve players made the
All NBA that year.

Speaker 2 (49:24):
That means they were top fifteen in the NBA. They
took the best of the best.

Speaker 1 (49:29):
The team was so good that two players on the
team came off the bench, they were averaging twenty seven
and eleven. That was Hakeem and Shaquille O'Neal. They both
came off the bench on the ninety six team and
he averaged twenty seven and eleven that seasons. That's what

(49:50):
we had coming off the bench in ninety six. And
you're telling me you trying to rock with Hallan Burton.
And I like Halle because he's in the numbers even
but I don't mean god, I don't mean no. The
defensive players who you out there stopping many Europeans, man,

(50:10):
they be putt us in the pick and roll. They
be back, they're cutting us. We gotta have somebody that
can defend. Yeah, can't defend. Can't defend it, won't put
the ball in the back. Give me Kyrie, you know
you don't put him in the mixture to Gil, is
that what gave think about it? Because they got what
they got fourth at the World Cup. Biggs gave him
a problem. Now the question is is Joel Embiid how

(50:34):
health is he gonna be? I like Anthony Davis as
the big I like Bam. I think we got deep,
we got Steph can shoot the ball. KD book and
man j T. We got a solid team. I probably
agree with you. I probably would have taken if you
take Kyrie and you take Jalen Bronson.

Speaker 2 (50:54):
I don't think anybody mad at you. He can't be.
And they're gonna be all NBA players this year.

Speaker 1 (51:00):
So I'm going off the metrics that ninety six and
ninety our original teams there, they took the best players
in the NBA Holiday Listen. I love what he does,
but you're the fourth best player on your team right now.
I don't need you right now now right not right now. Listen,

(51:23):
next year, next summer. Right if we got a game,
you know all all all NBA and the fever China.
We need someone to go represent the America.

Speaker 2 (51:34):
We can send you.

Speaker 1 (51:35):
This is the goal, baby, this is my parents is
looking at this right.

Speaker 2 (51:40):
We don't need you. We don't need you.

Speaker 5 (51:43):
Out tim right now, all right, exhibition to get you
can't go.

Speaker 1 (51:51):
He can't get on the bus, he can't get them
to play. Go out there the place and deep and
everybody rest.

Speaker 2 (51:55):
Just you don't get the jersey.

Speaker 1 (51:58):
You can be all Tilippers picked up the tab up
on the concession during their final regular season game at
the crypt arena. Damn had I known that man I
was winning there on a Hello nachos, burgers, friese gil.

Speaker 2 (52:10):
We should have went to the game.

Speaker 1 (52:15):
Not going to the Clipper game. But how much how
much people alcohol? You know how much alcohol costs?

Speaker 2 (52:25):
Wait?

Speaker 1 (52:25):
Wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait you mean
we hold on? Do you mean he picked it up before?
So that means when people got up there, it was
like free.

Speaker 2 (52:37):
That's what he reported. Noticed.

Speaker 1 (52:39):
I mean that that was that was the least he
could do. The man working, he said to be. I
don't know what I'm saying. Did any any fans come
out and say every day was street today?

Speaker 2 (52:53):
ABC seven reported it. Yeah, I'm not. I'm not worrying
about them. That's not gimme. I'm talking about. Did any
fence on their phone like, oh hey, come down to
the Clipper game? Everything free? I got thirty beers, nothing, nothing,
none of that.

Speaker 1 (53:09):
Look like, you know, cause you know you gotta how
you gotta do people kill two beers or one? But
you know you can't cat. You can't tell he I's free,
cause everybody go cot there. Let me get s let
me get twelve beers, sixteen hot dogs and two bars
and uh two buds of popcorn. So we got to
put limits on it. One beer, popcorn, hot dog, eat

(53:34):
that break gass back. This ain't even you, Arena, I'm
telling me how much I need to eat?

Speaker 2 (53:44):
Eat is free.

Speaker 1 (53:48):
I got a family to feed down there, Clipper tickets,
they getting the ghetto.

Speaker 2 (53:53):
Got a family to feed down. Just what I got
my beer? Got about dog d You know, I've seen people.

Speaker 1 (54:10):
I've seen people come to the movies, get movie popcorn
and go home.

Speaker 2 (54:21):
Just give Blake Griffith Reges.

Speaker 1 (54:24):
Yeah, six time All five time All NBA two thy
ten eleven Rookie of the Year, All Rookie Team twenty
ten eleven Rookie of the Year. He also won the
Dunk Contest by jumping over a park card. How will
you remember Blake Griffin? I remember I remember him as

(54:44):
a Clipper and the Clippers is considered the city girls
of Los Angeles. I mean, he tworked his way on
to a nice little season, That's what he did.

Speaker 2 (54:57):
But it's the only he's thirty three? What what.

Speaker 1 (55:05):
Two that he came in two thousand he wait, well,
remember he needs time. That's two thousand and nine. Because
of the needs, Remember he didn't play that year. He
thirty five, he's on it. But listen, he's on like
John Wall he's thirty five. But yeah, but the needs
look his driver license says he's thirty five. Thirty five.

(55:33):
You know, Love City, Twurk City. You know he'll be
remembered shaking his little.

Speaker 2 (55:37):
Tail in the head. Right, that's it, Hey, listen, they're
the Clippers. Man.

Speaker 1 (55:43):
We don't give the numbers at thirteen teams including the
new base Area franchise, and they wanted to be sixteen
in the next few years.

Speaker 2 (55:52):
Where should the w n b A expand to.

Speaker 1 (55:59):
W an me a family friendly and it shows Midwest
type of probably need a team in Tampada, they said,
South Florida, maybe Miami. Because here's what the Let me
give you the cities. Let me give you the cities
that they can contemplate. Philadelphia, Toronto, Denver, Portka, Nashville, South Florida, Nashville, Louisville.

Speaker 6 (56:35):
Louis Did you have a team in Kentucky Louisville. Yeah,
you're right, Louisville, Right, Louisville like this, they should have
a team out there because they already have an arena
out there. They already have an arena that was meant
for WNBA team. So they have an arena that already
seats nineteen thousand, right, and the women's team, I think

(57:00):
they do around ten to twelve, which that can translate
for the w anyway. So they already have the support
system for girls basketball or for women's now South Florida Nah, yeah,
I mean.

Speaker 1 (57:17):
You know, they don't even want to go to the
India Games popping.

Speaker 2 (57:22):
So I would put that joint up in Tampa somewhere.

Speaker 1 (57:28):
Philly, maybe I'll do Tampa, Kentucky, Kentucky, Philly. Man, they
had a team since the ABA, the Colonels.

Speaker 2 (57:44):
That Kentucky, Louisville. That's that that whole area, right.

Speaker 1 (57:50):
You mentioned that, Hey all, I said Louisville, I said,
I said, they got.

Speaker 2 (57:57):
The I told you they already have a w NBA
arena over there. I don't know about that, y'all don't
know about Louisville. No, what funny they built they built
the arena.

Speaker 1 (58:08):
You're thinking they were gonna get a the w n
B a arena the NBA team where they have an
NBA presence, So Philadelphia makes sense, Denver, That's how they.

Speaker 2 (58:18):
Did with it.

Speaker 1 (58:19):
That's how they did with the w Okay, what city big?
Why do you think they ain't get no love?

Speaker 2 (58:27):
Now? Why you think they ain't getting no love? Now?
If Aces is in the city, there ain't no NBA
team out there. Love.

Speaker 1 (58:34):
They are the fun you want to be with women.
You don't want no other sport. You just want them.

Speaker 2 (58:39):
So they can survive. That's how they can survive. Yeah.
So now now you're you're fourth.

Speaker 1 (58:46):
That's why I said that Louisville, there's the girls run
that city. So putting the w n B A team
out there, they might coming. You know, the biggest fans support.

Speaker 2 (58:58):
Houston. We're at them. What was it?

Speaker 1 (59:08):
I mean, it's it's it's all about the It's all
about where you felt like. You got to put it
in cities where they're big enough to support the team
and there's really nothing else there so they can focus.
You got to treat it like college, right, those big
college programs.

Speaker 2 (59:25):
It's really you.

Speaker 1 (59:25):
Can put one in that that North Carolina Duke that
area because you got three you got three schools that's
right there, so you can put one in in the
middle of those three state right, you got n C State. Yeah,
you put it right. You put one right there, Durham
and Chapel Hill. Yeah, that's why I said I put one,

(59:50):
I put one right there. Get get those, get those three.
Well you actually, it's gonna be a great place put
an NBA team in Vegas. You know that that, and
they probably want to do it sooner than later because
I know Lebron. Lebron wants to be in that mix.

(01:00:10):
Shaq has said that he wants to be.

Speaker 2 (01:00:13):
The gonna be here unless he wants to be under Lebron,
ain't no chance.

Speaker 1 (01:00:26):
All right, Gil, It's time for our last segment of
the night, and it's a Q and a gold standard.
How many game sellings did Michael Jordan have in his finals?

Speaker 2 (01:00:46):
None? Never lost in the finals, Jordan? Is the goal?
Not true? Not true?

Speaker 1 (01:00:54):
None, they're doing that. How many How many games is
that he played Hill the Lakers off the bench? Yes
or no? Also, how hungry and motivated are the Nuggets
after winning the championship last year?

Speaker 2 (01:01:10):
Much love, gentlemen, uh listening?

Speaker 1 (01:01:19):
The Lakers will play probably take a shot shot for him,
and I'm pretty sure he'll start with the Lakers.

Speaker 2 (01:01:24):
Because that's the type of player Lebron loves. Yep, right, guys,
flood out shoot it. I don't think.

Speaker 1 (01:01:30):
I don't think Play would leave everything he knows or
come back home because technically this is not his home anymore.
This is where he grew up, but it's not his home.
The Bay Area is his home. The Nuggets of the Nuggets,
how motivated are there winning? If they won last year?

Speaker 2 (01:01:50):
I can tell you this, and this is the only
reason I don't give Jokic. I didn't vote. I wouldn't
vote Yoki MVP.

Speaker 1 (01:01:57):
Every championship team that came back the following year dominated,
They dominated, Bulls, Golden State, Lakers sentence. They they were
on the mission the following year. Nuggets wasn't on the
mission this year. Right, There's there's nothing really this year
for a long period of time where we're like, Nuggets

(01:02:19):
is killing, right. They never went on the killing spree. Right, Yeah,
we know they're the most dangerous team because of Yo Kic,
but they didn't this year. They didn't seem like they
put any real fear in anybody. It just seemed like
they were just there, just like, oh yeah, Nuggets, you know,

(01:02:39):
they won again, they won again.

Speaker 2 (01:02:41):
They never really put foot that.

Speaker 1 (01:02:42):
The very motivated because you know, there are a lot
of teams that won one in a row. You want
to be special, you got to double it up, and
you want to be really really special, you know you
three p They haven't. They haven't been very many of those. Obviously.
The Celtics won those eighth straight in the eighties. Uh,
and then you had Shack. I mean you had Shack

(01:03:03):
in the early two thousands, and you had Jordan do
two three peats in the nineties. So, but it doesn't
happen very often. The Lakers never threepeatd Hell, the Celtics,
the great Celtics, they never went back to back. People
don't realize as great as they were, they never went
back to back. They won eighty they won eighty one,
eighty four, but they never they never went back to back.

(01:03:25):
So going back to back, obviously, three peats put you
in rarefied there. Hey, no, I don't believe in my lifetime. Hell,
I wouldn't a lie when when the Celtics there were
only eighteens when they won their eight in a row.
I don't believe somebody. I don't believe somebody win three
four in today's because injuries, I mean the free now
Golden State had Kevin Durant and I gotten hurt.

Speaker 2 (01:03:50):
They were gonna win that one. That one. Yeah, but yeah, I.

Speaker 1 (01:03:55):
Mean it could it could happened because these these players
now want to win. They know, they know their legacy
is built on winning. Uh So it could happen where
someone like a Paul George tas his talent in to
Denver and just say I want to win. And if
they win this year, now you're added Paul George instead

(01:04:17):
of uh.

Speaker 2 (01:04:19):
Casey p changes your teeth. So so those are.

Speaker 1 (01:04:24):
That's the type of stuff that can happen in the
last in today's game, in the last what in the
last decade, what I mean you got to go back
to what in the last twenty years, you probably only
had three Let's see who went back to back. Bron
went back to back with Miami, Kobe went back to back,
and and and Steph went back to back.

Speaker 2 (01:04:48):
And there's three back to backs.

Speaker 1 (01:04:55):
Yeah, there they I mean, because like the Lakers went
what's the urgent two thousand, let's see ninety nine, two thousand,
two thousand and one, Yeah, Lakers three Peter Lakers, the Celtics.
The Celtics one and eight straight. And then you got
Jordans two three pizza in the in the nineties. And

(01:05:17):
then the Lakers what did they do not what was
it two thousand and one, two or ninety nine, two
thousand nine, ninety two thousand, two thousand and one and
two thousand and two. Yeah, yeah, because the cob the
Spurs one in two, Spurs one in ninety nine, Yes,
Spurs ninety nine. That was the strike year, that was

(01:05:39):
the stright year. And then then the Lakers. Yeah, yeah,
Lakers are two thousands, thousand two. So if the Nuggets
went back to back, we're gonna look at them different, Gil,
You just do because it doesn't happen that often. And
when you look at some of that, you look at
the Great seventy sixteen. They didn't repeat, the Great Celtics,

(01:06:03):
they didn't they didn't repeat. So you start talking, I
mean in n b A, repeats are rare.

Speaker 2 (01:06:15):
Yeah, repiece are rare. But we ain't got to worry
about that because Lakers about to beat them in with
about six.

Speaker 1 (01:06:21):
So we got Lakers is six, Lakers is six, and
you know, so funny and this is how this is
how the world works. And Lakers do upset Denver. Nobody's
gonna make it a big deal. No one's gonna say,

(01:06:44):
oh my god, we're this this upset. They're gonna be like, well,
oh yeah, Lebron, they got the team to do it.
No one's gonna be surprised if it happens. No, but
you know what they gonna say. Michael jordanoudn't even been
in the playing tournament. Well, hey, hold on, the Lakers

(01:07:07):
wasn't in the play in tournament either. That was legitate,
sedon Thomas Tray, You anybody off the grid except John
and Bay for those albums. All right, give us, give
us Jared Jackson and g G. Jackson and that you

(01:07:28):
got a deal. Ju you said, what's up?

Speaker 2 (01:07:34):
Gil?

Speaker 1 (01:07:34):
My question is what is the advice? What is the
best advice you've gotten for a coach or given to
a teammate. Uh, don't let Stevie they talk about your
suit game. What's the best advice? What's the best advice?
The best? The best advice I ever got was from

(01:07:56):
Chris Mullen. And I remember I was I was training
and he asked me, he said, uh, you know, what's
your goal? And I told him my goal was to
be an NBA. He's like Okay, you're here. Now what's
your next goal? And I said, what do you mean?

(01:08:18):
He's like, if your goal as a child was to
be in the NBA, you're in the NBA. Are you
going to give up you to move to star status?
You need another goal? Now you made it here, don't
be an NBA player. That's the worst thing you can

(01:08:39):
be as an NBA in the NBA. NBA player that
the NBA players they want to party, drink, enjoy the life.
Like you sacrifice to get here. You have to sacrifice
while you're here to become what your next dream is.
So he so I basically said, well, I never thought

(01:09:00):
about it. Can I get some time, went home, thought
about it, came back the next day and then from
there I understood how to train. That's when I get
to WNBA. Your journey was to get to the w NBA.
Now new journey starts that once you're here. The best
advice I got Mike Shennahead gave me, and he told
me to say, you never accept anything in a win.

Speaker 2 (01:09:19):
You wouldn't have a lost A lot of times.

Speaker 1 (01:09:24):
You accept things in a win because we won, and
you says, well, winning masks everything.

Speaker 2 (01:09:32):
But had you lost that game, would you be okay
with it?

Speaker 1 (01:09:35):
And it really never donned on me like that because
one of my greatest games is he called me into
his office, you know, feeling good.

Speaker 2 (01:09:43):
I had.

Speaker 1 (01:09:43):
I had ten for a buck eighty opening day. At
the time, it was one of the top five opening
day receiving games. I'm a tight end in NFL history.
Steve Anchinopolis on the trainer say, Mike, want to see you.
I had just won Offensive Player. I just won Offensive
Player the Week. The first time we had that award,
I got the little gold the little crystal crystal football.

(01:10:04):
So I thinged like that man, you know, because he
had been on me. I had surgery off season on
my ankle. I really didn't participate in no ota, really
limited in training camp. So come out there the first game,
drop ten for a buck eighty on him. Buffalo. I
get up there to the office and Mike sitting down,
he said, sit down eighty four. And uh, he got

(01:10:26):
the TV because I'm sitting like right here. He's sitting
in a chair like this and I'm sitting right there
and he cuts the TV on.

Speaker 2 (01:10:33):
And it's me.

Speaker 1 (01:10:36):
Bull jibing missed the block, not running you know, not
running full speed. So he showed me about four or
five plays and he says, I'll never accept anything in
a win. I wouldn't ever lost. Had we lost this game,
this effort would have been unacceptable. We won it, it's

(01:10:57):
still unacceptable. The best advice I give people is that
the same thing my grandfather told my brother and I
never mistake habit for hard work. People think because they
do something over and over the working hard gilt. That's
a habit. People go to the gym every day at
nine o'clock. People go to the gym every day at
six o'clock and body ain't changed since they was a kid.

(01:11:20):
They went from adolescent to adulthood. And I ain't had
nothing to do in the ways. I want a hard worker.
That's someone who works hard.

Speaker 2 (01:11:31):
That's what.

Speaker 1 (01:11:32):
So I never forget that things that like people tell
me that really resonate with me.

Speaker 2 (01:11:43):
And I.

Speaker 1 (01:11:43):
You know, certain things that I hear that I've heard
all those years, Like my grandfather died in nineteen seventy seven,
we're coming up on them in fifty years. And everything
that he ever told my brother now, everything that he
ever spoke in my presence, I can recite at verbado everything,
not one thing he's ever said in my presence that

(01:12:03):
I can't. I can tell you where I was, I
can tell you what he said. I can tell you
the context and what he's in which he said it. So,
oh did I He wasn't a I mean, you know,
eight years old. Hell, everybody's gargantuate, but he wasn't a
light Papa probably was about five eight, probably way two

(01:12:26):
fifty five wide, you know, I come, you know, my
uncle's wide.

Speaker 2 (01:12:29):
They were farmers, manual labor. So they were they were
they were they were weren't.

Speaker 1 (01:12:33):
Tall men, but they were wide men, and so, uh,
whole up? Who are your top five actors of all time?
Who your top five? Gil? Man?

Speaker 2 (01:12:47):
It's hard to get a top five?

Speaker 1 (01:12:49):
Do y'all really the top That's that's harder than saying,
who is your top five NBA players?

Speaker 2 (01:12:54):
Who is your top five NFL players? Who you top five? Man?
That's hard.

Speaker 1 (01:13:02):
I got Denzel, will Smith, Leonardo DiCaprio, Uh, Jack Nichols,
lay Jack, I like, uh is it?

Speaker 2 (01:13:19):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (01:13:21):
That's really a nice list. I would definitely have Denzel.
I mean, that's hard to have a list where you
don't have Tom Hanks on It Love Jack Nichols, Jack Nicholson,
that's three. A guy that doesn't get nearly nearly the
credit that he deserves. Who had incredible range was Robin

(01:13:44):
Williams Man and what's old boy name? Uh?

Speaker 2 (01:13:56):
He was in There Will Be Blood, he was in Lincoln.
What's the guy? Daniel day Lewis. Daniel day Lewis.

Speaker 1 (01:14:05):
I go back and forth between Daniel day Lewis and
Anthony Hopkins. But every time I think of Anthony Hopkins,
I think about Silence of the Lambs, and that might
that might be one of the greatest roles.

Speaker 2 (01:14:18):
That awful Jack Crawford and Clyde Dallins. Did you come
down here before you included off the case?

Speaker 1 (01:14:29):
Like you know Eddie Murphy, Eddie Murphy. You know what
I like about Eddie Murphy and Will Smith? Oh yeah, yeah, yeah,
they are well rounded. Yeah, they play all kinds of roles.
Eddie in there, but uh, Jamie, but Eddie, Uh, I mean,
we didn't we didn't mean, we didn't mention Apacino j

(01:14:50):
we didn't mention Cleene's Wood, we didn't mention Robert de Niro.
And then when you start going back, you start getting
Brandon I mean I start getting yule brand and you start,
Yeah Morgan, mor you know there's some great ones out there.

Speaker 2 (01:15:08):
We only got five spots, but we only got five
spot bots. Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:15:12):
Jay Rain said, hello nightcap fam making a sacrifice spending
money on super check. You gotta get my car to
the tow yard. I've been moving all night. Back down upstairs,
get my car. We're gone with all.

Speaker 2 (01:15:23):
My playing Come home, bro, how you brob First of.

Speaker 1 (01:15:29):
All, you know you oh and you parked out there
and broad day like you know they looking for they
they got the hits ready for you.

Speaker 2 (01:15:36):
Dude probably was out there, polity, they hit you up.

Speaker 1 (01:15:42):
Come on, you don't know, man, you gotta take your
license late off man every time you all night came
back downstairs, and my car will gone with all my belongings.
Damn well, I mean, I don't know how much money
he's in, but he's a couple more dollars show man.

Speaker 2 (01:16:01):
He didn't even let you get your stuff out.

Speaker 1 (01:16:08):
Damn bro, we shouldn't be like well, we wouldn't know
nobody had he not told it you, We and Louisville
would would be would forever be greatful for a w
NB A team yeah, because they only have how you know,

(01:16:32):
the basketball team down there and they got to Derby,
Kentucky Derby. You have been to the Derby. You gotta go,
you gotta go. Once an experience, it's unbelievable. My guy, Once,
my guy get back real status. So my guy, Bob,
if you're out there watching, I'm gonna go check it
out because I met him.

Speaker 2 (01:16:52):
I met him when I went down there. I met him.
Uh d Wayne Lucas uh Uh? Who else did I need?
I met somebody else? Another one.

Speaker 1 (01:17:01):
I forget his name, but once he like, once he
gets redstated, I go back down there. He trained American
Pharaoh and justify the last two Triple Crown winners before
after that, the means people thought that the triple crown
was easy because you had Seattle Salut winning in seventy seven,
and you had a firm winning eighty and seventy eight

(01:17:23):
and it held spectacular, bed came up the last, so
you almost had three triple crowns. And then you had
Secretary in seventy three on with Ron Turcotte and she
was out of the Penny Chennery stable the chestnut Coat.

Speaker 2 (01:17:36):
But it's an instant experience guil.

Speaker 1 (01:17:37):
You got you got to go for the pageantry, and
you got to have a hat.

Speaker 2 (01:17:42):
Gill.

Speaker 1 (01:17:42):
It's all about the hat you got out there. I
mean you see women, women be bare footed, women have
their heels in the hand, but they have the flyers lead.
They have the flyers hat out there. Horse racing is
that horses?

Speaker 2 (01:17:59):
Horse? Hey, party knife too. You gotta try one of
the more men. Julius.

Speaker 1 (01:18:03):
I ain't really big into it, but hey, you gotta
say I I got it.

Speaker 2 (01:18:07):
I gotta say I had it.

Speaker 1 (01:18:08):
But uh uh uh, I hope they got a strip
club that they kN tuck you dirty, because that's all
I'm going.

Speaker 2 (01:18:18):
They be dying in that yill, They'll be dying. Yeah,
they be down there.

Speaker 1 (01:18:24):
I wouldn't I wouldn't look at you. I was, I was,
you know, I was with somebody. But who oh no,
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:18:38):
I look. I don't care who I went.

Speaker 1 (01:18:41):
I'm gonna look, Yeah, because if I don't.

Speaker 2 (01:18:46):
Look, then you notice I noticed it.

Speaker 1 (01:18:49):
And then now I'm purposely not looking on something I
already looked at because obviously I know it's there.

Speaker 2 (01:18:54):
Yeah. See that psychology you.

Speaker 1 (01:18:57):
Said, girl like well can't wear Hell yeah, I thought
I thought, wait for you when you alert me?

Speaker 2 (01:19:05):
Yeah, so damn right. My fmighty sisters started tingling, fine
girl alert, Fine girl alert? Well wow, so you know
you play it off? Where Lord? Yes? She is.

Speaker 1 (01:19:22):
All I do is sit and watch, uh seeking sister wise,
I just be sitting there, like, Yo, how do y'all
pulling this off?

Speaker 2 (01:19:35):
Man? This is I watch everything on Netflix and I
don't really Uh, Gil, who was the bigger king Jackson eleven? Ass? Gil?
Who was the bigger minute to your their teammates? You
are shack bo see, I don't. I've heard stories about Shaq.

(01:20:07):
I was.

Speaker 1 (01:20:07):
I was a big prankster. I'm not even gonna lie like, uh,
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:20:13):
I don't know. I really don't. I can't.

Speaker 1 (01:20:14):
I don't know what he's done on us. This is
the funny story, though, Like this is why like people
like Shaq is needed. We're in All Star Week in
Vegas and All Star Week in Vegas and John Amichi
just came out and the NBA set us down in

(01:20:35):
the locker room and said, hey, John Amichi, boom boom boom,
please do not respond to it.

Speaker 2 (01:20:42):
Right, they're giving us the whole speech.

Speaker 1 (01:20:44):
Do not respond because I guess Tim hardaway when banana
is over it.

Speaker 2 (01:20:48):
Right.

Speaker 1 (01:20:51):
As soon as the media came in, Shaq put on
a silver throng like the ox trapped thong and said, Johnny,
meet you, y'all.

Speaker 2 (01:21:03):
I'm john to meet you, and everyone.

Speaker 1 (01:21:08):
Everyone just starting dying laugh because it was the funniest
thing ever.

Speaker 5 (01:21:12):
Just Johnny, how you doing. I just tell y'all not
to say anything about this. Yeah, the first thing they do.
As soon as he come in, there uh go a.

Speaker 2 (01:21:27):
Silver thong and.
