Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hey, it's Delilah. Thank you for stopping by. I have
put together some of my favorite radio moments here to
share with you on our daily podcast. If you are
a parent with young children that are driving you absolutely insane,

(00:24):
here is a reminder. Write these facts now. Okay, Seventy
five percent of the time you will ever get to
spend with your kids is over by the time they
turn twelve. Seventy five percent of the hours, of the
minutes of the day that you will ever spend with

(00:46):
your littles is over from twelve on. That's twenty five
percent for the rest of their lives. Ninety percent of
your time with them is gone by the time they
turn eighteen. Slow down, go for walks, go to the park,

(01:07):
go play, go have a water fight. Teach them how
to cook, Let them make a mess in the kitchen
with you, mixing up pancakes or cupcakes or any kind
of cake or something healthy.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
I don't care.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
Just spend whatever time you can with them, because in
the blink of an eye, it's gone. Hi, Amber, how
can I help you tonight?

Speaker 3 (01:37):
Well, I have been listening to your show since I
was about ten years old, and I am twenty seven now.
I lost touch with you, say about twenty fourteen, and
then I was putting a song on my Little Boys
radio and you came on and it just looked up

(01:59):
my day.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
No sweeter love in the world, No sweeter love in
the world, Mama, than the love we.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
Share with our babies. Is there.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
There's nothing like it, and there's no way to describe
it or put it into words.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
You know.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
There's all these romantic love songs written, and very few
about the love we feel for our kids.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
I think that's backwards.

Speaker 1 (02:24):
I think there should be a lot more songs written
about the way kids transform us.

Speaker 3 (02:31):
Yes, ma'am, I agree to patly.

Speaker 2 (02:34):
How old your baby boy it'll be two in August?
And what's his name? Amber?

Speaker 3 (02:39):
Robert?

Speaker 2 (02:40):
Robert aka love of your Life?

Speaker 3 (02:43):
My little man?

Speaker 2 (02:45):
And what do you want to tell me about Robert?
And what can I play for you?

Speaker 3 (02:49):
I'll let you pick the perfect song from our little
boy that means the entire world and more to me.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
All right, I will find the perfect song for you.

Speaker 4 (03:00):
Thank you so much.

Speaker 2 (03:01):

Speaker 2 (03:19):
What do you want to tell me about your son?

Speaker 5 (03:22):
I came down with breast cancer in twenty twelve in
head the most horrible ten years of fighting the breast
cancer and you know, the whole nine yards, and he
stood next to me the whole time and encouraged me.
I'm sorry, he encouraged me. And I'm in remission and

(03:45):
I'm on my way. You know, I'm making wonderful progress.
I'm cancer free. And this guy, he was my hero.
I had problems with the rest of my family that
basically weren't there for me, and he's still his ground
and walked me through all of that the whole time,

(04:05):
never missed a day. And he's just very wonderful soul.
I kind of feel like God gifted me with him,
and I'm just grateful to him and to God.

Speaker 2 (04:19):
I will find a good song for you.

Speaker 5 (04:21):
Thank you so much.

Speaker 2 (04:33):

Watch wanted you to play a special song for my husband.
We've been together three years now and we are about
to have our first child together that we prayed for
every single day.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
Congratulasha, boy or girl.

Speaker 6 (05:02):
I don't know, and I honestly don't want to know.
I'm so excited.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
You are the only person that I have talked to
in years who didn't.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
Want to know. I don't want to know.

Speaker 1 (05:14):
I didn't find out with I had three bio kids.
I have a lot of adopted so obviously I knew
what they were. I know, but I didn't find out
with any of my three bio And everybody's like, why
don't you want to know?

Speaker 2 (05:25):
I said, I want to be surprised. I like surprises.
I love surprises.

Speaker 6 (05:32):
As long as it's healthy. That's all that matters to me.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
Yeah, And they're like, but you could buy the clothes
ahead of time. What are they going to wear? The
first six months? All they wear is a onesie? So
what difference does it make?

Speaker 6 (05:44):
Exactly?

Speaker 2 (05:45):
Well, have an.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
Easy labor and delivery and a healthy baby, and I
will play a song.

Speaker 2 (05:50):
What's your husband's name, Joseph? Have you picked out names
for boys and girls?

Speaker 6 (05:56):
Not yet?

All right, Well, let me pick out a song for you. Okay,
thank you, thank you, good luck.

Speaker 3 (06:04):
You have a big night.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
Lisa. Welcome you've called the Delilah Show. What can I
do for you?

Speaker 6 (06:16):
Hi?

Speaker 4 (06:16):
Well, I wanted to thank you very much for being
an inspiration in the past for me and for my
ever growing family. I had some rough times. I was
everything was lined up and going perfectly in my life.
I was expecting my first child, and I had a
great job, a great husband, a new house, and I
left my job when I was about four months pregnant,

(06:36):
and really just went into about three years of financial
torment with my husband and my child. The story takes
a more unusual turn. I actually had an I actually
did get a new job after I had her, and
was getting ready to embark on a career in motherhood
and start all over again when I found out I
was surprisingly expecting a second child.

Speaker 5 (07:00):
And isn't that funny?

Speaker 2 (07:01):
How life? Isn't that funny? How life happens while you're
making other plans. As John Lennon would.

Speaker 4 (07:06):
Say, it says, I thought I lined up my life
exactly the way it should be.

Speaker 2 (07:09):
But as you had it lined up, you had it planned.

Speaker 1 (07:12):
He was starting a new job, the baby would be
in daycare, you'd have some time to focus on your
career and instead you're changing diapers.

Speaker 4 (07:20):
Exactly. I was going to be able to do it all,
and I was going to have this very high power
career that I went to school to accomplish it.

Speaker 2 (07:26):
Yeah. I don't know who it was that said you
can't have it all. You just can't have it all
at once.

Speaker 4 (07:33):
Well I've turned It's been great. My husband and I
are a great team. We've been together over ten years
and I've recruited him to help more and he's definitely
stood by me and then my strength and try to
pick up second jobs when he could, and he's been
a wonderful husband. And now I'm actually in a job
that is a family owned company that actually left me

(07:53):
work from home quite a lot. Oh yeah, I am
able to have a full time career, two daughters and
a wonderful husband. And we're not out of the wood yet,
but we're getting there.

Speaker 2 (08:01):
No, you're not. And you know, kids cost money.

Speaker 1 (08:04):
And just when you think you're out of the woods,
the washing machine breaks down and you're right back in
the middle of the woods.

Speaker 4 (08:09):
Exactly. Yeah, that's life, Yes.

Speaker 2 (08:13):
It is, But God bless you.

Speaker 1 (08:14):
Let me play that song for you tonight, just as
a reminder with your baby girls what really matters. Thank
you very much, God, Black, Bye bye, Lisa, bye bye.
I so hope you have enjoyed these radio moments as
much as I enjoy bringing them to you. I'll share
more with you each weekday. On eight, It's Delilah.
