Speaker 1 (00:01):
All right, here we go, Pack twelve fans. This one's
for you. This it's the PAC twelve Apostles, and only
the truth lives here Packed twelve Apostles.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
I'm George Reisler, He's Ralph Amson, and this is the
PAC twelve Apostles coming at you after one week of
great college football action. And you guys can always hit
us up. I'm mad I Ammad at Unafraid show dot
com or shoot us well that's where you can hit

(00:37):
us an email, or you can hit us on Twitter
at PAC twelve Apostles. Make sure that you leave a
five star rating wherever you listen to podcasts, watch it
on YouTube later after we finish this and all of
the rest of the accoutrements. But one weekend after college
football and Ralph Pack twelve the best conference in the

(00:59):
name right now, the best conference in the nation. There
there's no debate.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
Right now thirteen and oh it has to end this
week unfortunately, but thirteen.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
Those conference games going. Of course, we have an image
problem right.

Speaker 3 (01:19):
Now, imaging edge webcam. Oh my god, your head's just
a little more that typically is.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
Oh wow, do you sound like my wife saying that
I have a squarehead. But that's fine, that's fine.

Speaker 3 (01:34):
And do you see the size of my head? It
is unbearable.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
Okay, So, uh, you tell us about the first game
of the Well, actually, first thing, let's let's start out
with what everybody's talking about. Your thoughts about Dion Sanders.

Speaker 3 (01:50):
Well, do you believe? Do you believe?

Speaker 2 (01:54):
I believe they won?

Speaker 3 (01:58):
I loved I loved it, uh, as as somebody who
has sat in those rooms. I also thought it was
very stupid, but I love a lot of very stupid things.
So the best part was not many people know who
Dion Sanders was saying do you believe?

Speaker 1 (02:15):
To?

Speaker 3 (02:16):
And when you know who it was that he was
saying it to, it's almost funnier because it was Edwarder. Edwarder,
who lives in Dallas, is from Colorado. Yes, used to
write for a paper in Boulder. Yes. Covered Dion Sanders
when he was with the Dallas Boys. Probably sawsha do

(02:38):
a running around is like a toddler. And the thing
that Dion Sanders when he said I've seen that bull junk,
which bull junk incredible? Love that word. Uh. He said,
I've seen that bull junk? You wrote, I like leafed
through the bull junk. First of all, it was a tweet,
and all Edwarder said was that he was a celebrity.
That's it.

Speaker 2 (02:59):
He is a celebrity coach. He's a celebrity and a
coach at the same damn time.

Speaker 3 (03:07):
I just come on, Dion.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
See, Okay, So the truth about this Dion's situation, because
I saw a lot of overreactions on both sides ro
You have people say, oh my god, Colorado is Oh
they're the greatest. Now look at Dion. He's vindicated. He's
right there. This team's gonna this team could go undefeated,

(03:34):
just like he said. No, they're not slow the hell down.
I mean, at the end of the day, that was
a really good win. But I'm not sure whether Colorado's
really good or TCU is bad because TCU only returned
three starters. Their defense was a sieve again. I mean,

(03:55):
Sonny Dyke's team is looking like it did at cal
right right now, scoring a bit billion points and giving
up a billion and one. And TCU's defense wasn't great
last year either. They gave up a ton of points
last year. But at the same time, Colorado's offense full
of weapons all over the place, Sherder Sanders better than expected.

(04:21):
Saw him a little bit against Jackson State, but there's
always that, Okay, can you do it against the big boys?
And five and ten yards, thirty eight completions? What four touchdowns,
third and sixteen coming through in the clutch, dude, is fantastic.
Travis Hunter, ridiculous. But what's the word that you have

(04:42):
to use to describe Ralph thin?

Speaker 3 (04:44):
They are thin, thin, and one dimensional, one dimension of
one dimension, one dimension of one dimension. And this is
not Dione disrespect. This is a PAC twelve football fan speaking.
We know better than anyone what one dimension of one
dimension is. It's Mike Leach.

Speaker 2 (05:05):
Yep.

Speaker 3 (05:06):
They had a couple of good years on the defensive
side of the football, but for the most part they
were one dimensional heavy on offense, only pass the ball.
Sunny Dyke's Cow teams were one dimension of one dimension.
It was Jared Goff and nobody yep, right, And probably
the ultimate one dimension of one dimension was last year's

(05:27):
Washington team. Yeah, they couldn't run the ball. They threw
for a billion yards and they gave up a lot
on defense. So we're used to as PAC twelve fans
were used to one dimension of one dimension. Okay, so
they averaged one point six yards a rush on offense.
They could not stop the run. They made some plays

(05:50):
in the defensive backfield. But I watched some of these
games this weekend. Watch some people run the ball like
Cal It's gonna be tough for a lot of Pack
twelve teams, much less Colorado stop teams that actually have
good interior push.

Speaker 2 (06:03):
So imagine how Colorado is going to fare against Oregon
who can run the ball, Oregon State, Utah like those
teams that can run the ball down your throat, bro,
they gonna they're gonna have trouble. And then the other
part about it is, and this is no disparagement upon

(06:24):
them because Din and we talked about what success for
Dion looked like this year that it wasn't any particular record.
It was just keeping hope alive. And he can keep
Hope alive by just simply just just getting better week
in and week out and staying competitive in games and
not getting their doors knocked off. And if they can

(06:47):
go six and six, Ralph, that'll that'll be a major win.
That's an I told you so coming off of what
what a one win team, A team yeah, Putriot last
year non competitive even to do right that? Bro, are
you kidding me?

Speaker 3 (07:06):
So they had four one hundred yard receivers against TCU.
They had two one hundred yard receivers last year, and
I think both of them were our guy, Jordan Tyson,
if I'm not mistaken.

Speaker 2 (07:19):
Yeah, yeah, because he did it against Oregon and the
game before too.

Speaker 3 (07:24):
Yeah. So it really sounds like we're dumping on d On.
It sounds like we're not true believers. But here's the deal.
As far as as far as the national perspective on
call the PAC twelve and the fact that they're ranked now,
they jumped up to I think twenty two, and if
you want to get into that five, six of the

(07:44):
top twenty seven teams in the country. Six of the
top twenty seven teams in the country right now are
PAC twelve teams. UCLA's aty seven, I believe Colorado's at
twenty two.

Speaker 2 (07:57):
Yep.

Speaker 3 (07:58):
And like this is I mean, this is huge, This
is absolutely huge for the PAC twelve.

Speaker 2 (08:04):
However, but it's also triggering, right, It's also triggering because
all those years people talking about all the back twelve
is garbage, this and that, and now the year that
it's all over now. Now everybody wants to show up
in the nice clothes.

Speaker 3 (08:21):
Yeah, but I would take I would take all of
the national attention that comes with Dean Sanders, regardless of
whether or not they're winning. I said they'd be two
and ten. I went out and tweeted immediately. Well, went tweeted, Yeah,
I went out and tweeted immediately. Like I thought this
was a two year build. I thought they'd be really
good next year. It turns out like they're going to
be competitive this year. I did think Shador Sanders was

(08:44):
going to be a good quarterback. I said it on
this show and I five hundred yards no mistakes is wild.
But I also said Travis Hunter might have been become
the best player in the conference, a conference that has high.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
Right, Travis Hunter is insane. And while he's insane, I
think Colorado has a problem. He played over one hundred
and twenty plays, Ralph over one hundred and twenty plays.

Speaker 3 (09:14):
That's a lot. Did you see the tweet about the
person that said they were gonna they were going full
Travis Hunter at the bar? Well, no, what's that? Hitting
on every girl and guy?

Speaker 2 (09:28):
It's like I'm a land I'm gonna lay something. I'm
a hey, I'm from I'm from around around the way.
I'm leaving here with something. I'm leaving here with something. Bro,
the dude is incredible, amazing and and but I don't

(09:48):
think that him playing this amount of plays is sustainable.
It's like, how's his body supposed to hold up playing
this many plays? And and I I know that he's
a mutant. I know that he's special, but this is football.
What do you do some point in time is do
you protect me?

Speaker 3 (10:07):
Or do you protect him?

Speaker 1 (10:09):
Like?

Speaker 3 (10:10):
What would you do? Deon?

Speaker 2 (10:11):
I'm getting him down to about ninety snaps again, is
just way too much.

Speaker 3 (10:18):
You can't you can't take him off the field defense.
You can't correct.

Speaker 2 (10:23):
Because if you take him off the field on defense,
you're gonna have to put Cormani McClain in, which I
heard is not a good idea right now. I mean, granted,
he is a true freshman, so that's not despair at
somebody who is not even and I know that five
stars are expected to play immediately, but come on now,
like it don't always.

Speaker 3 (10:43):
But Dion's trying to win. He's trying to win. But
microwas he put his best twenty two to one on
the field, and he's trying to win games, and I
respect it. I did not think that they would win.
I thought tc would cover.

Speaker 2 (10:56):
Are three touchdown favorites, bro three touchdown favorites, but then.

Speaker 3 (11:00):
Three touchdown favorites when people were throwing money at Colorado
for no reason, you know, a bunch of that money
was on the Colorado side. Yes, just from casuals. Just
from casuals. So what were they really? What were they really?
They were probably a four touchdown favorite. Think about the
amount of money.

Speaker 2 (11:22):
Yeah, and remember when, like I started to get cold
feet on this whole thing as the season got closer
and I started really paying attention to what TCU did
not have. I was like, oh, this this fit. This
don't just don't feel is the short thing. And I
thought that TCU would would win. But I also picked

(11:44):
Colorado to cover and worked worked. Yeah, So I'm I'm
actually excited. I think this is good for the conference.
Nike is really I got some intel. Nike was like,
we're in the Colorado and Dion business heavy. Now after

(12:08):
that win, they are going in heavy, so expect some
expect there to be some crossover in the basketball and
other to just just a little hint players. Now, after
one week of the conference thirteen and oh, we also

(12:33):
got news this week that was kind of swept under
the rug because it happened while everybody was sleeping, especially
at Cal and at Stanford. Cal and Stanford have left
the back twelve. They are in the ACC going forward,
and you're just like, bro, that happened over the cover

(12:56):
of night, Like the vote happened at like four o'clock
in the morning Pacific, and it's so Calum Stafford to
be sleeping while this big news. They couldn't even put
out a press conference. They would have they would have
had to like set up a tweet deck for this,
for this news to go out.

Speaker 3 (13:18):
Yeah. I again, it just goes back to you know,
George Kleafkoff was out there in Texas at these meetings,
surrounded by conference commissioners that were just cleaning his clock,
and he had to just be out there, and you know,
he flexed and he was like, hey, I'm focused on
winning a national championship. And that's real cute. But I mean,

(13:43):
just one day later, the ACC takes of the.

Speaker 2 (13:48):
I mean, is he in any way does he get
credit for that.

Speaker 4 (13:53):
No.

Speaker 2 (13:54):
You know, if the Bat twelve wins the national championship,
whether it's Oregon, USC Washington, Oregon State, whoever it is,
they win a national championship, does George Khalikov get any credit.

Speaker 3 (14:05):
No, but it'll be on his resume and you can
guarantee it'll be on the next company biography or wherever
he works next. I can guarantee that, because that's just
the way it works. Like anything good happens anywhere within
one hundred yards of you, you're gonna take credit for
your piece of that. Does he get it from this
podcast Pack twelve apostles? No, he does not.

Speaker 2 (14:31):
Yeah, so, dude, But them being in the ACC is
so weird, dude. Academically it fits. But I also think
that this puts the Notre Dame thing in a weird
spot because Notre Dame, because the Big tim wants wants
Notre Dame like everybody, like you know, like most men
in the world want want Kim Kardashian or Beyonce or whatever,

(14:54):
or Rihanna or whoever else. But this is a conference
where it's the entire Eastern Seaboard, Like this isn't like
the Big ten or the Big twelve. Well, the Big
Ten where you got a bunch of schools in Flyover
country and then Michigan and all that except for Rutgers. No,

(15:15):
this is the entire Eastern seaboard Ralph.

Speaker 3 (15:18):
Yeah, like every state but Maryland pretty much.

Speaker 2 (15:21):
Yeah. Yeah, the entire Eastern Seaboard. Like all of the
states literally are connected to water.

Speaker 3 (15:30):
As of last week, I live twelve miles from Stanford's
conference headquarters because the ACC moved their headquarters to Charlotte.

Speaker 2 (15:41):
So Brot, this is madness. This is madness.

Speaker 3 (15:44):
So hey, how about this though, If you are an
Olympic sport athlete or a non revenue sport athlete and
you live in Dallas, Texas or even Houston or Fort
Worth or whatever, you're going to an ACC school because
going to be playing from your family all the time.
Did you hear about that?

Speaker 2 (16:04):
No?

Speaker 3 (16:04):
What, They're gonna have all these games in Dallas. That's
why they added like part of the SMU. Yes, so
to save on travel costs. There's not going to be
home and aways for a lot of these ACC matchups.
They're going to take place in Dallas, so that the

(16:30):
addition of SMU kind of like helps anchor them in
that one.

Speaker 2 (16:34):
Area that I actually like that.

Speaker 3 (16:37):
The length of the contracts are also really interesting. Like
Stanford says they're a full share member, but they're donating
their portion back for like seven years and I don't.

Speaker 2 (16:46):
Know donating back though.

Speaker 3 (16:52):
Okay, SMU did exactly what you said they do, and
they're like, we're cool without money. We just want to
be included, which makes you think SMU is gonna come
out there. Who Yeah, I tell you what if this
little ploy by SMU works and they come out start
whooping everybody's ass. They got some geniuses out there at
something today.

Speaker 2 (17:12):
They're out there like, we did it, we did it,
we did it. Now now them big donors are like, hey, hey,
we open it up the pocket book, dude. They are
going to be poaching coaches. They are going to do
whatever it is they have to do to win book it.
That's why I said I wanted SMU in the PAC twelve,

(17:33):
them and Houston. I wanted them both when they were
talking about expansion. It made all the sense in the world.
But but what is the guy that was right about
all of this and his podcast that was right about
all this? No, speaking of knowing the PAC twelve their attendance, Ralph,

(17:55):
the PAC twelve attendants has been spectacular there, I would say, right, ah.

Speaker 3 (18:02):
Yeah, unless you're unless you are uh UCLA fan, absolutely,
I can't explain what's going on there.

Speaker 2 (18:13):
Oregon selling out, Arizona turned out what almost fifty thousand
fans you tass sold out clearly against Florida, USC full
Washington sixty five thousand, like, because you have to remember
that the PAC twelve doesn't have the biggest stadiums in
the whole world except for Stanford and u C l A.

(18:34):
But what and how big is Arizona states?

Speaker 1 (18:38):
Like?

Speaker 2 (18:39):
Okay, so they were almost sold out too, and they
and they had a habuki or what's the helpo haboom? Yeah? Boy,
And I had never heard of that until I was
watching the damn game for like an eight and a
half hour.

Speaker 3 (18:55):
Uh delay but brutal.

Speaker 2 (18:59):
But yeah, for a conference that had been much maligned
about attendance, bro, people showed up. Why won't people show up?
And I know that the whole Pasadena Westwood thing and
that does that that's a significant thing because you don't
really have a student section on that level, But why

(19:21):
won't people go watch them at UCLA? But I mean,
I guess it was up because they had over forty
thousand people, so it was like a little over half full.

Speaker 3 (19:32):
How many people do you think show up to UCLA
Coastal Carolina if Deon Sanders is the head coach?

Speaker 2 (19:40):
Damn?

Speaker 3 (19:42):
Do you think you got people standing on top of
the bowl all the way around? Yes?

Speaker 2 (19:46):
Yes, one hundred percent. So you think that some of
this is about branding of the team or do you
think that this is branding the coach?

Speaker 3 (20:02):
I don't know. I honestly don't know. I know that
there's gonna be fans there when Ohio State comes to visit.
I know there's gonna be fans there when Michigan comes
to visit. I don't know that. I don't know.

Speaker 2 (20:13):
Why and Ohio State fans because they have. I mean,
part of it too, is that their alumni bases are
so big because they have like fifty thousand and sixty
thousand students enrolled at one damn time. So like that's
part of it, their alumni basis. But the other part
is just that people. It just matters more. I mean,

(20:34):
Ohio State's the biggest brand in college football. Make no mistake.
It is not Alabama. It is not Georgia. It is
Ohio State as the biggest brand. If you write an article,
make a video about Ohio State, it is going to
do better than any other college football brand. But but

(20:54):
this u se LA thing, they got to get something
going over there. So but to recap last week, how
did we do, Ralph?

Speaker 3 (21:05):
I was painfully average, but a really good week. Basically
everywhere where I decided to separate from you, I lost.

Speaker 2 (21:15):
Hey, hey, hey, this is a good start. Love it,
love it.

Speaker 3 (21:20):
Long ast season. That's all I'm gonna say.

Speaker 2 (21:22):
So what were the records?

Speaker 3 (21:26):
We both came in one and zero against the spread, yep,
as well as with the point totals. You went eight
and four against the spread this week, and I think
you were five and three on the totals. We did
not do totals, and we will not do totals for
FCS versus FBS matchups, but we kind of set our

(21:49):
own thirty eight and a half point line for all
of the FBS versus FCS games. You went eight and four.
I went six and six, and I went four and
four on the over unders. So on this season, you're
sitting at nine and four against the spread, and I
believe six and three or something like that on on
on the totals, I'm at I'm at seven and six

(22:11):
and five and four, So you got a little bit
of a lead.

Speaker 2 (22:14):
On dominating them, all right. So, uh, now Colorado and TCU,
we've covered that game, but kind of previewing. Next up
they have Nebraska and we'll get to that at the end.
That's a nine am kick on Fox. That should be interesting.

(22:38):
So onto the game. The first game of the week,
which was Utah Florida, we found out cam right, I mean,
I guess it was suspected that Cam Rising wasn't gonna play,
but it didn't play, and Utah, being down to their
third string quarterback, jumped out to the lead. Uh bombs
over bag Dad on the first play. That set the tone.

(23:02):
But I did notice Ralph as the game went on,
and yes, Utah was without eight starters. They lost their
heart and soul of their lineback and crew one of
the first plays of the game to believe a concussion.
But at the same time, Utah was up what twenty eight, No,
what was it? Twenty four to three?

Speaker 3 (23:24):
Four to three?

Speaker 2 (23:25):
Pretty late, yeah, And it just didn't feel like after
that fast start that they could put anything together, particularly
in the second half.

Speaker 3 (23:34):
Offensively you're offensive, Yeah, yeah, yeah, I think they emptied
the bag and then they just held on for dear
life and.

Speaker 2 (23:42):
They were like, just just make it to the blow
the whistle, get.

Speaker 3 (23:46):
It over with. But god dang, Like so we just
finished watching The Swamp right, the documentary on Florida, and
they make that stadium in Gainesfield feel like one of
the loudest places on it And what you and I
tried to say is like, you're gonna come to Salt Lake.
And this is what I've been trying to tell Big
twelve fans, because Big twelve fans want Utah to suffer, rightfully,

(24:09):
So they're mad at Utah for dismissing the idea. Yeah, yes,
Utah did big time the Big Twelve. And then their
fans are pretty aggressive, so they follow the lead of
the coach and then it's Utah versus everybody in the
Big Twelve, and BYU fans are just loving it that
it's that it was like fourteen on one, right. But

(24:30):
what I tried to tell people when Utah finally, you know,
had the decision made for them, that they're gonna end
up part of the Big twelve is welcome to Hell.
Welcome to Hell, like it is going to be hard
for you to win in Salt Lake City. And I
say this as Arizona State fan, and you can attest
to it as an organ fan, and UCLA and USC

(24:51):
fans can talk about it too. It is very hard
to win there. Those students are up on you and
it's forty five thousan of them. They're loud, and they're
aggressive and they I think Florida was shook. I really do.

Speaker 2 (25:06):
Oh dude. It was funny because I talked to Josh
paid after the game, well before and after the game
to do from Lake Lake Kick with Josh Pate and
he went out to the game. So he hadn't been
to Oregon until last year. Salt Lake City at Utah
this year had never been really the Pac twelve games
because you know, his base is really in the Southeastern

(25:27):
Conference and in the and in the South in general.
So I told him, I was like, yo, Utah ain't
very big, but it is an SEC game day experience,
and he was like, all right, we'll see. I said,
you loved Oregon, It's almost as good as that. Just
to tick off and then you have one of Florida's

(25:49):
players when they got to the stadium put on social
media this little last stadium they got in there, they
figured out, bro there's a reason because it's construction, its math.
When you have the big House at Michigan, it's loud,
but it's not as loud because it's built like this,

(26:11):
so it's not quite as loud. The sound doesn't stay
in and funnel in like it does at Aughton Stadium,
but especially the old Auton Stadium and even at Washington
where a lot of this sound is trapped in like
the Seattle Seahawks. This is why when you don't even
have the biggest stadiums in the whole world, that you
can get extremely loud situations and people aren't expecting it.

(26:37):
They're like, oh, this little bitty stadium, man, that thing
will be as loud as Brian Denny Stadium or what
what Benny Hills Stadium down in down at Florida. And
I know it's not Benny Benny Hill. I know it's Hill.
I forgot the first name. And people don't expect that.
And I think Florida got in there. They heard them,

(26:58):
They heard them folks out there and they were surprised.
I bet bet you they respect it now though.

Speaker 3 (27:09):
Well, have myself on mute, have myself on mute.

Speaker 2 (27:17):
I was like, it's something going on. I can't hear Ralph.

Speaker 3 (27:21):
No no, I I was just waxing poetic about the
fact that they had Florida fans calling for Billionnavier's job
just fourteen games in his tenure.

Speaker 2 (27:29):
Bro slow down, slow down. I understand things aren't where
you wanted to be and see. But here's the problem
with what Dion's doing. Though, just like the same thing
with Justin Herbert and Joe Burrow microwave results, they distort reality.

(27:52):
If Dion Sanders was playing with Graham Mert says his
quarterback wouldn't be having as much success was as Shaudor
Sanders as his quarterback.

Speaker 3 (28:06):
Right, And if Dion Sanders was playing in Salt Lake
City in week one, Shador Sanders might have looked a
little bit different than against Sunny Dyke's defense in week one.
So I don't know. I say, be patient with Billy Napier,
But what I will say is, you know, Florida fans
expect to win. They expect to win now. They're one

(28:28):
of those schools where you know the results you live
and die with every single week. And on the heels
of that Swamp King's documentary, you know, they're craven urban Meyer.
They don't want that billiy Napier is a good man,
but they don't want a good man. They want a
bad man and they want to win, right so that
you know, I just one play away from Utah going

(28:49):
to and oh against Florida is all I have to say.
Utah is legit. They are for real and and especially
in non conference time, it's funny to have them on
our side. As far, I think we've lost audio George.

Speaker 1 (29:07):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsports Radio

Speaker 3 (29:19):
All right, our show has been full of technical difficulties,
and speaking of technical difficulties, ESPN and Spectrum decided to
go to war right before kickoff all of this Florida
and you again, Broyeah people are pissed. Everybody sat in
to watch their first big college football game in the season,

(29:40):
and all of a sudden, there were no Disney options
available on Spectrum at all.

Speaker 2 (29:47):
Cobe Blood eh, bro, that's a fail. That is an
absolute fail, and that that couldn't be me. Couldn't be
me because I would have canceled that shit right in
the middle of the right before kickoff, had Hulu and
YouTube TV on my television set and been like, but

(30:09):
I do understand that there's a lot of people that
you know, don't fully understand how to cord cut, or
it feels like a huge deal, but it's actually much
less of a deal than you think it is.

Speaker 3 (30:23):
Yeah, I was. I was trying to explain to somebody
on Thursday, download the Sling app, get the first month
for thirty three bucks, screencast from your phone, and they
were like, I understand four of those works, and I
think I'm gonna jump off my roof. It could be
it could be tough. It could be tough. Before we

(30:43):
get to Utah at Baylor shout out to Bryson Barnes
who stepped in started earn himself a scholarship. Yoh, very cool. Yeah,
but Baylor lost to Texas State George, so Utah is
going in. I don't know if they're going to be
fully healthy. Baylor is not fully healthy. Blake Shapin, who
used to be an ASU commit is out, so Texas

(31:04):
high school football legend Sawyer Robertson is gonna get a shot.
He's a transfer from Mississippi State. He was, I believe
three years ago, the Gatorade Player of the Year from
the state of Texas. So I mean he could go
in there. He could take that job and never look back.
But that's a tough first ask going up against that
Utah defense. The over under on this game's forty seven

(31:25):
and a half. Utah's favored by seven and a half.
It opened though with Baylor being favored, so a drastic
swing in Utah's favor. All the money's on Utah's side.
What are you doing as far as this spread? Do
you like Utah by more than a touchdown at Baylor?

Speaker 2 (31:41):
Yes, yes, I do. I think it's gonna be tough
on Baylor to be in this situation. Dude, it's gonna
be tough on him because they just lost to Texas State,
which is a major l They are in a situation
to where fans are gonna be on them, and you

(32:05):
talk they well, I should, I should say if they
have Cam Rising back.

Speaker 3 (32:16):
That's or bran Keathy or Junior tafuna. They're missing a
bunch of guys.

Speaker 2 (32:20):
Yeah. Yeah, So okay, so we'll we'll, we'll, we'll make
the predictions in a minute. But yeah, ah man, that's
a toughye right there. All right, we got oh Arizona
State Southern Utah twenty four to twenty one, Ralph, Yeah,

(32:41):
twenty four to twenty one. And I know that there
was a habuki in the middle, a haboob.

Speaker 3 (32:46):
In the middle, a three hour habuki.

Speaker 2 (32:48):
Yeah, and I know that that happened in in the middle,
But that doesn't make it any less difficult to like
stomach if you're an ASU fan, because you were up
with twenty one to seven at halftime, yeah, and you're saying, Okay,
did the haboob cause this lull and Jaden and Jayden

(33:11):
were shot at to kind of get cold and kind
of get off off kilter or was this a a
sign of something else?

Speaker 3 (33:22):
I think I think it makes it a little bit
easier to digest because it was unprecedented for a sandstorm
lightning shit show to shut everything down for three hours
and then it was raining and yeah, yeah it was
it was. It was a mess. I think it makes
it easier to stomach, but it's still alarming. Southern Utah

(33:43):
has a decent quarterback for that level, but they're not good.
It should have been a blowout. Here's the deal. Let's
get into the Jayden. We shot a thing, right. There
were some people that were very impressed with some of
the throws he made early on, and you should be.
He's a freshman, twenty year old freshman. It was his
twentieth birthday, but he's a freshman, right. He made a
couple of really good throws. I will give him that.

(34:03):
I left the game less confident in having him as
the quarterback moving forward. I know they're not going to
a bowl really, yes, yes, And here's why it didn't
have a lot to do with him, actually, the new rules.
This was the first time that I experienced what the
new rules look like as far as not stopping the

(34:24):
clock on first downs and things like that. And I'm
almost glad they didn't in this game because it would
still be going if they if they did not. But
so when I looked, I looked at the timing of things.
It makes every play that much more crucial, right, and
you're starting a freshman at quarterback. That makes things a
little bit tougher. Here's the other thing, and I think

(34:44):
you'll agree with me. That was very, very evident. Cam
Scattabo is ASU's best player by far. Yes, in this offense.

Speaker 2 (34:50):
Yes, running back, bro, Bro, he got wibbled to him.
It is. I don't I haven't seen his picture, but
he looks Caucasian.

Speaker 3 (35:03):
He is.

Speaker 1 (35:04):
He is.

Speaker 2 (35:05):
Okay, okay, I'm good with that. I just didn't didn't
want to assume because sometimes people they they will make
some preconceived notions about our fair skinned running backs. But
when when them dues be good, they be good.

Speaker 3 (35:21):
Good.

Speaker 2 (35:21):
Bro.

Speaker 3 (35:22):
Yeah, he's he's kind of like a white Tomrio Richard,
like he just the balance is crazy and and this
is what, this is what kind of shook my faith
in the decision to name Jade Rashotta starting quarterback. Elijah
Badger's good. You got good players on offense. Jalen Conyers
is up there. He's very talented, amongst some of one
of the best, maybe number two tight end in the

(35:42):
whole pack twelve right now. But if you're gonna run
your offense through Cam Scattabo, you're gonna have to have
a medium range passing game. You have to because otherwise
everybody's crashing down on him every single time, and without him,
you're probably nothing. Trent Borgay, Drew Pine, They're gonna be
able to find some of those medium range raw It's
a little bit better in my opinion. So I walked

(36:03):
out of this game saying, I see what they're trying
to do with Jade and Rashata. I don't necessarily know
if it's the best idea. And also I know this
somebody at ASU is leaking stuff to Pete Damil. Somebody
at every college in Americas. Well, yes, always someone at
every college in America is to Pete Damil. But somebody
at ASU want certain things about about what's going on

(36:26):
ASU to get out to Pete Damil. Don't know if
it's a head coach. I don't know who it is.
But Pete Damil had the starter first, he had the
bull suspension first, and he put out a tweet this
week saying Drew Pine is getting healthy. Yeah, and it
makes me wonder if the plan wasn't to just have
Jad and Rashata take the snaps until Drew Pine gets back.

(36:47):
Whoa so do that?

Speaker 2 (36:51):
You can't do that?

Speaker 3 (36:53):
I don't know, man, I don't know because why.

Speaker 2 (36:56):
Otherwood bro you can that will destroy confidence?

Speaker 3 (37:02):
Why does anybody need to know?

Speaker 2 (37:03):
Why does anybody?

Speaker 3 (37:07):
I think you should have started Trenton Borgay regardless, but
I'm not the head coach and I have faith in
Kenny Dillingham and he's gonna do the right thing. And
now it's harder to start Trenton Borgay because you're not
really playing for for anything toward that. You're playing for pride,
you're playing for the seniors. But why does Pete Damill
need to put out that that unless the information is
coming from George Pine himself. And if you didn't know this,
Drew Pine's dad is he's He's a big deal? Is yeah,

(37:32):
big deal, big deal, big deal? Like was the president
of IMG and negotiated their two billion dollars sale?

Speaker 2 (37:40):
Okay, okay, okay.

Speaker 3 (37:41):
Yeah, like is on TV. It was on Bloomberg News
two weeks ago talking about the PAC twelve breaking up
like so, and like, unless it's George Pine himself given
information to to to to Pete Damil, I don't see
the need for Pete Tamil to be talking about when
Drew Pine is gonna be healthy. So got my conspiracy
brain working. I don't know what's going to be happened
in the coming weeks, but I liked what I saw

(38:02):
from Jane Mashada. I don't know if he gives you
your best chance to win right now, but it doesn't
matter because he's gonna be the starter going into Oklahoma
State one hundred and twelve degrees, one hundred and thirteen
degrees that day in Tempe, hottest day ever in the
history still waters one fifteen. But it's ASU that chose
to wear black. They're not kicking off till seven thirty,
but ASU is gonna be out there in black when

(38:25):
it's like one hundred and twenty degrees on the field.
I hope this isn't shooting yourself in the foot.

Speaker 2 (38:31):
Yeah, dude, it is going to be an interesting game,
and we will make our picks in a little bit.
But we got Stanford Hawaii. Stanford thirty seven, Hawaii twenty four.
This game was on in the dead of the middle
of the night, like this was This game was on

(38:51):
when I forgot games were still on, and I was like.

Speaker 3 (38:53):
Oh, I did have to tell you on Friday Stanford's
playing tonight, and you were you'd just gotten home from
a high school football game. It's football on.

Speaker 2 (39:03):
Yes, exactly. So Ashton Daniels is their starter. Eurusic how
we say his name, Yeah, Eurossic, the tight end spectacular.
He was really good. And I was impressed with Hawaii's
physicality because they're not known for that very physical Yeah.

(39:26):
But the one thing I noticed, Stanford scored thirty seven points,
which is already a freaking bonus right in Troy Taylor's
first first game. I just don't see this as one
of the better teams in the in the in the conference.

Speaker 3 (39:44):
I'm with you, I'm with you. I thought Troy Taylor
called a hell of a game, though I know it
was Hawaii. They didn't run. They never ran, so they
only threw. So I don't know if I'm alarmed by
the fact that they went for over three hundred yards passing.
I mean they threw the ball fifty one time, so
it's not like it was like ten yards a pass
or anything like that.

Speaker 2 (40:02):
But the the uh, the intellectual brutality is dead and
waxually it has been dead for a very long time.

Speaker 3 (40:10):
But yeah, it's going on. I was I was talking
about Hawaii, but Stanford did run a little bit. They
e J Smith had four he got he got in
a one. It was cool to see e J. Smith back,
he got a touchdown. Hawaii didn't run, they only threw.
It makes me wonder about Stanford's secondary, especially leading into
their next game. But I think they're gonna be okay.

(40:32):
It might be a little bit better than than we
were thinking. Troy Taylor, he just called a really good game.
I see why he got this job. Absolutely a monster.
By the way, Yes, yes, he's super good.

Speaker 2 (40:47):
USC sixty six Nevada fourteen. USC is running is running
up numbers. Bro They doing numbers. They putting up video
game numbers.

Speaker 3 (41:00):
It feels like nineteen ninety two Barkley Jordan Mullen Bird
dream team. It feels like the dream team on offense,
It really does. That's how I I to me. It
feels like they got the offensive dream team.

Speaker 2 (41:17):
Their office is really good. But at the same time,
there are some really good offenses in the Pac twelve.
It's the quarterback that separates them. I mean the play
where he drops the snap. Caleb Williams drops the snap,
fumbles it around, just picks it up, chucks it up
and hits the receiver dead in stride. Hit hit boy, yeah,

(41:40):
boyd right and stride and you're just like, what the
hell are is supposed to do with that?

Speaker 3 (41:49):
I don't know, man, I just what do you think
these point totals would be if they let Caleb Williams
play all four courts, if they just ran that offense,
they might have one hundred and seventy five points through
two weeks.

Speaker 2 (42:01):
Yes, but the but the biggest question though, is about
this team that we don't have answered yet is about
this defense.

Speaker 3 (42:10):
You mean the defense that gave up in one half
to Brendan Lewis, former Colorado quarterback who started like fifteen
games for them, gave up in one half forty more
passing yards than Lewis's career average. Yes, the defense is
a huge question mark, especially defensive backfield. Yes, huge question mark.

Speaker 2 (42:34):
Yep, yep. And this week they have Stanford, so we're
gonna learn, I guess a little bit more about them
because San Jose State and Nevada weren't gonna tell us
very much except for if they were just putrid. Washington
fifty six Boise State nineteen. This game got out of control,
bro I did not expect this game to get out

(42:56):
of control the way it did Pinnix and a dounezy
a and that whole bro They just it was just overwhelming.
The stats were eye popping and the defense got stops.
But Boise's not exactly a good passing situation right now.

(43:18):
They can run run the ball, and Washington did a
good job of stopping them from running the ball. So
is Washington's defense improved or did they just play a
lesser opponent.

Speaker 3 (43:31):
That's a good question. This is a nine point game
pretty late into the third quarter and it ended up
being an absolute route.

Speaker 2 (43:37):
That's the hard part is that it wasn't blowing like
this was not like they just knocked their doors off
all game. This was all right and then and then
it just avalanched.

Speaker 3 (43:50):
I counted maybe three plays in the entire game where
Boise State had an effective pass rush. Washington's offensive line
they're pass blocking, and I couldn't tell because a lot
of Boise State wasn't like bull rushing a lot a
lot of it was the defensive line, like standing up,
stunting guys running around doing whatever they could. And I

(44:11):
mean Pennis had forever, forever in a day. He was
the chilling and he didn't need it. He did not
even need it. He was making throws with a clean pocket,
only three seconds sitting into getting a snap. He's hitting
guys while they're still running their routes. He's hitting running
backs when they stopped bracketing a doonsay because McMillan was
killing them. A dunsay started killing them. It was like

(44:36):
it was unbelievable to watch Penis go to work. What
do you have? Four and fifty yards five touchdowns?

Speaker 2 (44:42):
Bro a normal or normal Saturday?

Speaker 3 (44:46):
Another day at the office for Michael Pens normal.

Speaker 2 (44:49):
Saturday, dude, Washington fans, and I know that people can
be like Georgia or Hayten. You better watch a coach.
I know he just got a new contract. You better
watch your coach, especially if Michigan messes around and and
and Harball goes to the league after this year. Watch
your coach.

Speaker 3 (45:10):
Because we've been We said that last year. We said
that last year when we saw the transformation in Washington,
we were like.

Speaker 2 (45:17):
Knicks will be gone too. And if he don't feel
great about the next.

Speaker 3 (45:23):
A D higher, Yes, the new A D higher, that's
a big part of it.

Speaker 2 (45:27):
Yeah, if he don't feel good about all of that,
Bro brou you better, Hi, hide to kids, hide to wife.
All right, next game up, well, Oregon eighty one, Portless
State seven.

Speaker 3 (45:47):
Yeah, this guy had a hand very quickly. The way
that I described this game is everybody ate like you
had you had, you had my guy ty Tom after
the game, posting pictures of himself out there. You know,
he's sick of me. Three years into being a backup,
you know he's sick of it. But he even even
he's gotten to play like a full quarter two weeks

(46:07):
in a row, like he's you know, this was complete, complete,
And I thought Portland State came out and looked okay
in the in the beginning game and just didn't matter.
That second quarter was unreal.

Speaker 2 (46:24):
Yes, yes, they scored. They scored twenty two in the first,
twenty eight in a second. So it was fifty to
seven at halftime, and you had and the defense. So
after giving up that touchdown early, I was like, on
the second drive, after like a botched defensive play and

(46:45):
stuff like that, I was like, bro, if they give
up more than thirteen points, I am going to be concerned.
But at the end of the day, four for fifteen
on third down, and the majority of that came on
that one drive passing they only threw for fifty two
yards eight for twenty with a veteran quarterback, they rushed

(47:06):
for one hundred and forty eight yards. I just like
the defense did exactly what they were supposed to do.
They ran up seven hundred and twenty nine yards. That's
what a good team is supposed to do. To Portland,
say so. But we also did hear something crazy was

(47:27):
that the Portland State coach said that one of his
player's ear got almost ripped off. Like yeah, physical like
it kill them all. Let the paramedics sort them out. Gee,

(47:47):
that's from the program, man, that's from the program.

Speaker 3 (47:50):
All right, have you seen the movie? Maybe?

Speaker 2 (47:54):
Oh god, bro, please tell me that you have seen
the program when oh, well, nope, you have not seen
the program. That well that that is on your that
is on your watching list, is the program?

Speaker 3 (48:07):
Yeah. For anybody who's new to Peck tob Apostles, if
a movie was made after nineteen ninety four, I've seen it.
If a movie was made before nineteen ninety four, there
is a one percent chance that I've seen it.

Speaker 2 (48:18):
Yeah. Yeah, he's doing all the catching up now. Cal
At North Texas, cal At North Texas. North Texas has
had a really good offense historically well and recently Cal
put up numbers fourteen, nineteen, fifteen, ten for a total

(48:39):
of fifty eight points, and they only gave up twenty
twenty one. I don't even know how to react to
this from from Justin Wilcox and company, because we have
not seen fifty eight points even against inferior competition.

Speaker 3 (49:01):
It was nice, It was nice. The running game was fantastic.
Jaden Ott has maybe some of the best acceleration I've
seen in this conference.

Speaker 2 (49:15):
Yeah, he went one seventy eight on twenty karras in
two tubs.

Speaker 3 (49:19):
On one of his many long runs. He they said
he got up twenty one miles an hour, but it
was like immediately, yeah, he kind of faded. He had
a player catching up to him at the end. So
his acceleration on those runs up the middle incredible. The
fact they were getting that push up the middle was
pretty wild. And I just I want to mention this

(49:40):
player because he is quickly becoming my favorite player in
the entire PAC twelve Isaiah A. Fonse Isaiah Fonse five nine,
two hundred and five pounds senior out of out of Bellevue, Washington.

Speaker 2 (49:55):
You always loved these unique body guys like.

Speaker 3 (49:59):
The he's not a unique body, that's a running back.
That's a normal size for a running back.

Speaker 2 (50:03):
Five nine five yeah, yeah, yeah, Okay, that's one inch
shorter than Emmett, five pounds heavier.

Speaker 3 (50:11):
That's not crazy, little fire. He was super physical, so
they got like a thunder and lightning situation at running back. Again,
the push up the middle was the most eye opening thing. Uh,
Sam Jackson, the fifth goes down in the first quarter.
The last three quarters are played by Ben Finley, who
throws for almost three hundred yards. I love Ben Finley

(50:33):
because he's from Arizona. That's right. He's a It went
to He's Paradise Valley High School and they don't have
good numbers out in Arizona. So he was also their
kicker and a defensive back and their punter, so he
was he was putting in Travis Hunter duty in high school.
Now to North Carolina State, ended up finding himself fourth

(50:55):
on the depth chart. His older brother, Ryan Finley went
to the NFL out of North Carolina State. So last
year he's number four on the depth chart. All three
quarterbacks ahead of him get hurt and he has to
start the bowl and I think he played really well,
so he wanted somewhere where he could compete to start.
He goes out to Cal and here he is again.
He's a he's a gamer, not a guy looks good
in practice, but once a game starts he'll figure it out.

(51:17):
I don't know how long will be. Sam Jackson sounds
like he wants to play this week because he's he's
going up against his high school best friend in Peyton
Thorn so down at Auburn. So my guess is he
does everything he can to get back on the field
for Cal.

Speaker 2 (51:34):
Believe it, I believe it all right. Next game up,
we have Washington State at Colorado State fifty to twenty
four bro to the PAC twelve at points per game
average is sick right now. Cam Moore went for four
point fifty one three touchdowns. He was thirty seven for

(51:58):
forty nine. They actually they didn't run the ball well,
but at least they tried to. They ran a thirty
seven times for ninety yards, which ain't impressive at all,
But uh yeah, what what what are we supposed to
make out of this?

Speaker 3 (52:12):
Ralph offense is a little cute for my taste. There's
a lot going on. There's a lot going on. There's
a lot going on. You gotta watch them, George, there's
a lot.

Speaker 2 (52:25):
No, no, no, I saw it. There's a Yes, it's
a it's a it's a it's a gumbo.

Speaker 3 (52:34):
Their center had maybe the worst game of all time.
Cam Ward was like it was Yeah, it was a surprise.
Every snap location was a surprise. And cam Ward a
lot of design runs that was new.

Speaker 2 (52:51):
Yeah. He had a team of them, his birth team.

Speaker 3 (52:54):
Rush quarterback, his backup quarterback is like a t bow
roll in in. I had a couple of rushing touchdowns.
He finally got a camp for him. Because he's very
sloppy but very effective. Footworks wild His arm angles wild
His pocket presence is funny.

Speaker 2 (53:12):
He's jamiss war stop it, stop it. He can't throw.

Speaker 3 (53:19):
I'm telling you no, I'm not. I'm not saying he's
got that arm.

Speaker 2 (53:24):
You're talking about the awkwardness and just just everything is
just not in place.

Speaker 3 (53:31):
But it works, Yeah, because he's like Uncle Rico ing
it pocket and then he makes it work. Well. Your
defense looks sick though, Yeah, Wilder's defense looks sick. That
the Colorado State scoring twenty four points. Like one was
a kickoff return. They didn't get their first offensive touchdown

(53:52):
I think till the fourth quarter.

Speaker 2 (53:53):
So correct, correct, because it was the they had three
points going into the fourth quarter.

Speaker 3 (53:58):
Yeah, I have These Washington State linebackers were bawling out,
especially in pass coverage.

Speaker 2 (54:03):
Yeah, they're gonna be a tough out for a lot
of teams this year. It is, it is gonna be
they gonna uh yeah, it's gonna be tough on people.

Speaker 1 (54:10):

Speaker 2 (54:22):
All right, next game up of the people from your
home state, the Arizona Wildcats. Who did they have in
a N A U A. I'm gonna be honest, I didn't.
I didn't watch this game. I did not watch the game.
It is concerning Jayden de Delora already starting with a pick.
I don't like it.

Speaker 3 (54:45):
Yeah, uh, I don't know. They looked fine to me.
They look very physical. They came out looking like they
were going head to head with an SEC team just
laying these these Lumberjacks from ANYU out. It was pretty bad.
Gunnarmalda Nato actually got booted out of the game for
targeting in the second half. They were just super super physical.

(55:05):
It wasn't the prettiest game in the world. Be got
to remember they lost this game two years ago, and
they gave up forty four years ago in this game,
so for it to be thirty five three is probably
exactly where they want it to be. And they found
a couple of players that I think they think are
going to be very good trading stokes. Their nickel looks
like a star in this defense. So they got out

(55:27):
of it with a win. They got out of it
relatively healthy, and they found a couple of players that
they I think they think are going to be really
really good in the future. So they're probably encouraged.

Speaker 2 (55:37):
Okay, well we will we will see in the coming weeks.
We had Oregon State. This is a game. My eyes,
my antanas was all over this game because I wanted
to see Oregon State. I wanted to say, dj uyangalle
there was something to compare it to because USC played

(55:57):
San Jose State last week. Now San Jose States zero
and two. I mean, but they weren't expected to win
either one of those games, but it was forty two
to seventeen. DJ threw for two thirty nine three touchdowns
and then ran in two more.

Speaker 3 (56:16):
Is this and but we.

Speaker 2 (56:18):
Did get a chance to see the boy Aiden Giles though,
bro Aiden Giles, I am in so I thought that
this was a really good efficient showing from DJ. But
I'm also not gonna make too much of it.

Speaker 3 (56:34):
No, this game did answer one very important question for me, though, well,
how how is Oregon State going to replace Jack Coletto?
And the answer is by bringing in a six five,
two fifty quarterback who can do the exact same thing
that Jack Coletto does.

Speaker 2 (56:52):
Yeah, it's just get all the tough yards. He's not
a super athlete, but he's big enough to go in
and you know, take take some of those bell bell
dozer duties.

Speaker 3 (57:04):
I have a question for you, mm hmm. Are you
rooting against Oregon State this week?

Speaker 4 (57:12):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (57:12):
My god, yes I am, Yes, I am.

Speaker 3 (57:20):
Do you want to tell the people why? You got
to tell the people why?

Speaker 2 (57:22):
Oh? Because they play against UC Davis and my son
just committed to UC Davis so to uh to play there,
and uh yeah, so I'm I'm I'm rooting for the
Aggies bros.

Speaker 3 (57:36):
That's dude.

Speaker 2 (57:38):
I instantly became an Aggie fan, biggest Aggie around right now.
A little of a dad just texted me while we
were on the show because he got my number from
my wife. He hit her up. I don't know how
they know each other. Congrats on the commitment. My name
is Justin Sanders. Oh. Denisia and my wife toy are

(58:02):
friends from college. Okay, I didn't know that, f y.
My son is Isaiah is committed to UC Davis for
twenty twenty four as well. He's an outside line linebacker,
and then sent me his Twitter handle.

Speaker 3 (58:13):
Very very cool. Hey, I'm excited for Damon. I'm an
Aggie's fan too. I'm gonna wait one year. I'm gonna
wait one year to root against organ State because we
need this. We need a top sixteen team to act.

Speaker 2 (58:28):
They're not gonna lose like.

Speaker 3 (58:30):
So it's it's risk free rooting on your part.

Speaker 2 (58:33):
Yes, okay, yeah, they're not gonna win this.

Speaker 3 (58:37):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (58:37):
I mean it's just tough. I mean Organ State's too
too tough upfront. I mean it's just I will tell
you though that you see Davis has another one of
those Caucasian running backs really good. He's shifty. I like
him like he might he might have NFL potential. And
they have a linebacker who is an NFL they have

(58:59):
for sure and NFL linebacker one hundred percent, no doubt
about it. And the kid looks good getting off the bus, dude.
So uh so there are some players on the team
that you guys should really pay attention to in this game.

Speaker 3 (59:12):
So yeah, I love it. I look forward to adding
UC Davis store coverage movie.

Speaker 2 (59:19):
Got to last game up UCLA Coastal Carolina. This game
was intriguing because of the quarterback situation you had. I
expected McCall to play better, but he had two picks
for Coastal Carolina, but UCLA couldn't get away from them
at all. It was a thirteen to fourteen game heading

(59:40):
into the fourth quarter. Dante more he was seven for
twelve one forty three, two touchdowns and a pick. Garber's
ten for seventeen for one twenty one, a touchdown and
two picks, And it felt like the energy was around Dante,
who finished the game, but Ethan Garber's who played way

(01:00:04):
more series was under duress pretty much the entire game,
and Dante on his two touchdowns was played from a
clean pocket, and when he finally didn't, he threw a pick.
So I'm not sure who actually gives them a better
chance to win right now. I know that Dante Moore

(01:00:25):
looks like he'll be good in the in the future,
but it is not ready to handle all that Chip
throws at him now. So I listen, this happened questioning
UCLA right now, I.

Speaker 3 (01:00:38):
Am it's interesting.

Speaker 2 (01:00:41):
I get that quarterback play together, it's gonna be a problem.

Speaker 3 (01:00:45):
I felt kind of lonely in my opinion on the
quarterback at all week, and it's very interesting that we're
almost like identical. I watched the game. I came out
of it saying, like, I think Ethan Garber's as this
figured out. But the national narrative is that Dante Moore
was more exciting in his big playability, so everyone was

(01:01:09):
thinking like, well, they should just give the job now.
But I went out of that game, I'm like, I
don't think it's settled yet. No, I don't. I don't
think it's quite settled yet. I mean, so you think
they point, Yeah, Well, lucky for us. San Diego State
finally sucks. And I don't think they're gonna bullying our teams.

(01:01:33):
They think they're gonna take a year vacation from bullying
our teams. They barely be Idaha State, so this would
be a good game for them to figure out things
moving forward.

Speaker 2 (01:01:42):
Absolutely. Now though, it is time for our PAC twelve
Power rankings, and we're gonna do them a little bit
differently this time. So we are gonna come up with
the consensus ranking. And uh, this week I made I
made the ranking, and then Ralph gets any opportunity to
change two teams two teams, and then I get a

(01:02:05):
chance to change two teams, and then the rankings are set.
That's what the PAC twelve Apostles Power rankings are for
the week. And then next week Ralph will make the rankings,
and then I get a chance to edit two teams
and then he gets a chance to for the for
the final edit. Hey, hey, that was That's a cool system, right.

Speaker 3 (01:02:28):
We'll see, we'll see. I can see myself getting confused.

Speaker 2 (01:02:32):
Okay, so right now I have washing washing? Good Lord?

Speaker 3 (01:02:37):
Can I can I Husky?

Speaker 2 (01:02:40):
I have Utah number one, Oregon two, USC three, Washington four,
Oregon State five Colorado six, U C l A seven,
Cow eight, Wazoo nine, Arizona ten, ASU eleven, Stamford twelve,

(01:03:04):
and honestly in the top twelve. That feels like the
best I've ever felt about the top ten, like in
terms of YO, there's some fluidity in here.

Speaker 3 (01:03:15):
Okay, Well we'll see if you disagree with my flips here. Okay,
I personally would like to change CAL and UCLA. I
would make a CAL the number seventeen in our power rankings,
and I would drop UCLA UH to.

Speaker 2 (01:03:35):
Number eight down to eight.

Speaker 3 (01:03:37):
Yes, okay, And then I don't think you're gonna like
this one. I can't make three changes. I can only
make two. So I'm trading out USC at number three
for Utah at number one, dropping Utah down to three
health reasons only. Okay, So that would make that would
make USC number one. Okay, so you have veto power

(01:04:00):
I means yes.

Speaker 2 (01:04:02):
So so now with that being said, I don't mind
the CAL in UCLA. Actually think that that's actually better
because actually, do you know what, I know what two
changes I'm gonna make. I am now going to change
even though I set them at first, I'm actually gonna

(01:04:24):
change Wazoo and UCLA because.

Speaker 3 (01:04:30):
Nine.

Speaker 2 (01:04:31):
Yeah, as we talk through this, I was like, god, bro,
this quarterback thing is scaring me. So I'm gonna go
there and then I'm going to flip. I'm gonna take
USC out of number one and flip them with Oregon.

Speaker 3 (01:04:57):
So I feel like I threw you an lu.

Speaker 2 (01:05:00):
So Oregon goes one, USC two, Utah three, Washington for Colorado.
I'm sorry Oregon State five, Colorado six, CAL seven, Washington
State eight, u C l A nine, But that doesn't
feel bad at nine. It feels like from from from
nine to five feels famous, undefeated, comfortable, Yeah, Arizona ten,

(01:05:25):
ASU eleven. The only ones I feel comfortable with right
now are are Stanford and Arizona State at eleven and twelve.
That's where I feel most.

Speaker 3 (01:05:34):
And they could be interchangeable for sure.

Speaker 2 (01:05:36):
Yeah yeah, all right. Hey see that was easy, bro,
and it was fun. So like next week, I feel
like you're gonna get real strategic.

Speaker 3 (01:05:46):
So onto our second weekly saying we're gonna be doing
this here. Every week, we are allowed to pick one
player that we believe is going to be the player
of the week. They don't have to player of the
week they just have to be better than the other persons.
Yep of the week. You can only choose a player
once all season long. If you choose a quarterback and
they win, you get one point. If you choose a

(01:06:08):
position player and they win, you get two points. If
you choose a defensive player and they win, you get three.
So last week I said t Mac ted Roya McMillan
at Arizona. You said Caleb Williams. It was a blowout
Caleb Williams. Team Mac looked good, had a touchdown. But
obviously Caleb Williams gets to win there. So you go
this up one to nothing. But you can't use Kaleb

(01:06:30):
Williams for rest of the season, and I can't use teams.

Speaker 2 (01:06:33):
Oh, this is a survivor thing.

Speaker 3 (01:06:34):
Oh, it is a survivor thing. You are damn nothing
had And we'll we'll put it. We'll put it to
the listeners, will put it to the voters. If there's
ever a disagreement, I think we I think we'll know
each week who actually had their week. Uh, But if
it does come down to us wanting to make an
argument about it, we'll put it to the viewers. Who
are you picking as your week? Two PAC twelve player

(01:06:55):
of the week your predicted.

Speaker 2 (01:06:58):
I am gonna go with Martinez from Oregon State.

Speaker 3 (01:07:05):
Oh no, no, actually.

Speaker 2 (01:07:07):
No no, no, no, no, no no, because they're okay, because
they're playing there and because they're playing Davis and they
could be rotating back some all right. Actually, I'm gonna
stay stay there. I'm gonna go with Martinez from Oregon State.
I'm gonna stay with my first thought.

Speaker 3 (01:07:29):
Okay, Okay, I'm gonna take a risk here. Okay, And
because if Cal beats Auburn, that's gonna be a really
big deal. I am. I am Jaye not is gonna
be my Week two potential player of the week. All right,
So Martinez versus going into week two, I'm excited. And

(01:07:51):
the win, the win will be worth two points because
neither one of us picks a quarterback.

Speaker 2 (01:07:55):
Okay, all right, so oh now the games this week, all.

Speaker 3 (01:08:01):
Right, let's get into our picks.

Speaker 2 (01:08:02):
Yeah, all right, let's get started with the first game.
We have not one, but two nine o'clock games this year,
well not nine o'clock games this week, which is remember
we were arguing about these how much we didn't want this. Well,
hey we here. Now that's old news.

Speaker 3 (01:08:22):
So that's about eight seconds after I mean, I'm obviously
it's noon for me, but it's still about eight seconds
after I wake up. After the high school games and
on Friday nights.

Speaker 2 (01:08:30):
Yep. So we got Colorado at I'm sorry, Nebraska at Colorado.
Huge rivalry that's been, you know, really reinvigorated. Nine am
on Fox. Colorado is favored by three points. It started

(01:08:51):
at Nebraska minus eight. Now it's bro that's a hell
of a swing after Nebraska's terrible offensive performance versus Minnesota
over under fifty nine and a half. Who you got, Ralph.

Speaker 3 (01:09:08):
I like the under, so I'm definitely taking the under. Uh.
But you know what, Dion, unlike Edward Er, I do
believe now, so I'm gonna take Colorado minus three.

Speaker 2 (01:09:23):
I am also going to take the under. I'm taking
Nebraska all taking the breath, dude, it's gotta stop somewhere.
Like I believe that they're headed in the right direction. Well, actually,
you know, you know what, But I want Diona. I
don't I think they're gonna lose, but I want them
to win because I want them to win this week.

(01:09:47):
They should be Colorado State next week. Then that sets
up three and oh Oregon versus three and oher of Colorado.
The only reason why game day won't be there is
because Ohio State's playing Notre Dame that same day on CBS.
If it were gonna be on Fox, then then the

(01:10:08):
Fox Big Noon would be there, and then you know
that'd be different. But yeah, I'm going with I want
Colorado to win. But Nebraska, after they look so bad
offensively last week, I think that we're gonna see what
Colorado is made of because Nebraska's going to try to
run it down their face over and over and over

(01:10:30):
and over.

Speaker 3 (01:10:31):
And they did this defense. Nebraska defense almost did pitch
a shutout. So yes, here's the deal. You can have
the best both worlds. All you need is Colorado by
one or two. So see when there.

Speaker 1 (01:10:45):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app. Search FSR to
listen live.

Speaker 2 (01:10:57):
All right, next game up, next nine am game, we
have Utah at Baylor, Utah's favorite by eight points over
Under forty seven. I little that's a baby over under.

Speaker 3 (01:11:16):
Yeah, yeah, I'm gonna take the over. It's just uh
it's bait, right, and I have seven and a half
to change anything for you Utah seven and a half.
I'm gonna go to Utah. I'm gonna go with Utah.
By ten, I take the over.

Speaker 2 (01:11:33):
I'm gonna take the ooh see, seems like that's the
thing is is that Utah would basically have to pitch
a shutout then, and they're gonna basically pitch a shutout.
I'm going with Utah and the under.

Speaker 3 (01:11:49):
All right, we'll see, we'll see. I think Sawya Robertson's
gonna come out and maybe make a case to stay
Baylor's quarterback.

Speaker 2 (01:11:55):
So I do think you think I'm scared of? Is
Utah scoring like thirty five? That's the only thing that
scared me? All right? Then you got the two o'clock
game Tulsa versus Washington. Washington's favor about thirty four points
over under sixty five. Where you at on this.

Speaker 3 (01:12:15):
Ralph, Well, Tulsa's in kind of a weird place because
their quarterback, who really liked Braylan Braxton. He won the job,
but then he came out through two interceptions in his
first four passes and hurt his ankle. His backup Cardill
Williams comes in and almost played perfectly, almost perfect. So
now what they're thinking is they might rotate quarterbacks this

(01:12:37):
next week. I think, you know, I don't know if
I like thirty five points, but you know what, let's
do it. Let's go with the Huskies minus thirty four
and a half. Five touchdown win would be pretty cool.
And then as far as the over under, that's a lot, man,

(01:13:00):
uh six sixty four and a half. Yeah, I'm go
I'm gonna take the I'm gonna say sixty total points.

Speaker 2 (01:13:08):
I Am going to smash this over. This is going over,
but the Huskies will not cover. They're gonna wear about
like twenty seven, twenty eight points. It ain't gonna be
thirty thirty four points though. Then the next game up
time wise we have is Wisconsin Washington State. This game

(01:13:34):
is in Martin Stadium in Pullman, Washington, Washington State's favorite. Sorry,
with Wisconsin's favor by six points. Obviously, they got a
new head coach from the Great State of Cincinnati.

Speaker 3 (01:13:51):
And the state of Cincinnati.

Speaker 2 (01:13:52):
Huh oh, I meant from from Cincinnati and the Great
State just came out. Wow, that's a that's a all
right over under fifty eight and a half where you're
at Ralph.

Speaker 3 (01:14:10):
Well you have fifty eight. Now we have different lines, man,
I sent you all these I have. I have fifty
three and a half.

Speaker 2 (01:14:15):
Well it's up to fifty eight and a half.

Speaker 3 (01:14:17):
Now, Oh that's weird. I got all my stuff on
off Action Network. I have it at fifty three and
a half right now, Okay, Well then, oh no, I
see what you're saying. I see what you're saying. I
see what you're saying. No, you're right, You're right. The
line has moved. People must have seen the fifty spot
that the Washington State put up in and I get that,
so fifty nine, you're right. Let's see. I I'm worried

(01:14:41):
for Washington State because I am a big time Braylean
Allen believer. I think he's, you know, Kenneth Walker level
good at running back and he's not the only back.
They're gonna give the ball to fifteen twenty times, so
I think that's going to depress the score. I'm gonna
take the un on the score. And it's a revenge

(01:15:04):
game too, so you know what, I'm actually gonna go
with Wisconsin minus minus six. Wow. Wow, Yeah, I mean,
it's it's in pullman.

Speaker 2 (01:15:14):
But you have this all wrong, buddy, all wrong. This
game will hit the over. Gimme Washington State though, Okay,
Washington State plus six though, plus six?

Speaker 3 (01:15:30):
All right?

Speaker 2 (01:15:32):
Next game up Arizona at Mississippi State, Davis Wade Stadium
in Starkville, Mississippi, miss Mississippi. Mississippi State minus nine, sixty
and a half.

Speaker 4 (01:15:46):
Ralph, huh uh it Originally this was almost a three
touchdown spread for Mississippi State.

Speaker 3 (01:15:56):
It's moved quite a bit toward Arizona. I know that
people are thinking that the complete revamping of Mississippi State's
offense is you know, is going to mean no more,
no more leech air raid. I think Will Rodgers is
fine with that. He didn't go to Mississippi State to

(01:16:17):
play for Mike Leach anyway. He just happened to win
the job, yep. And this is this, you know, Will
Rogers is the most experienced quarterback in college football probably right.
I mean, well, Michael Pennix is up there, but Will
Rogers has like thirty four straight starts, has every single
Mississippi State record. And this is just as far as

(01:16:40):
one person in one college town with Gunner Maldonado for
the first half. If if you fall behind, it could
get ugly. I'm gonna take Mississippi State minus nine and
I'm going to take the under on this.

Speaker 2 (01:16:56):
Ooh ooh, you're so you think Mississippi State is going
to win this game by more than nine points.

Speaker 3 (01:17:06):
I do, I do. I'm thinking I'm thinking maybe like
a thirty to twenty or something like that.

Speaker 2 (01:17:11):
I'm gonna take the under in the game as well
and giming him walking. This feels like a game where
Jaden just starts to turn the ball over. Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope,

(01:17:31):
Arizona plus nine, dude, this the the stats are gonna
be crazy after this game, buddy. I mean after after
this week, somebody's gonna have a disaster going.

Speaker 3 (01:17:45):
That's true. Weird a lot of these, all.

Speaker 2 (01:17:49):
Right, next game up, we have the Is that a
four o'clock? Oh damn, I didn't go in complete order.
So is what it is? Oregon tex This Tech game
is on Fox four PM. Oregon's only a six and
a half point favorite in Lubbock. This feels weird.

Speaker 3 (01:18:08):
It does feel weird. It is in Lubbock, Texas. Tech
is good.

Speaker 2 (01:18:14):
John Wierston Laramie last week.

Speaker 3 (01:18:17):
I don't think anybody wants to play in Laramie. You
know how weird it was, because you know how much
I like Tyler Shuck. You know weird it was to
be like Well, Wyoming, which I'm from and my root
for and I used to go to college classes there
when I was two three years old. My mom would
take me, single mom taking me to lecture hall on
my own student ID and everything. So I'm a cowboy
for life, right. It was very weird at the end

(01:18:39):
of the game to be like, well Wyoming won, which
probably means nothing to them. They're going to go seven
and six no matter what. But Tyler Shuck lost, and
so you know, I was I didn't really know how
to Yeah, I don't know how to feel about it.
Shout out to Tyler Shuck's parents, by the way, who
rented out their home this year, rented out their home,

(01:18:59):
bought a camper and they were going to follow Texas
Tech on the road. I think that's awesome if.

Speaker 2 (01:19:05):
You if you can do that healthy, that's dope.

Speaker 3 (01:19:07):
Yeah. He he's you know what, he's eight and two.
As a starter at Texas Tech, he had some decent
success at Oregon might not lit up the world the
way that you wanted to and caused the Anthony Brown
to come in take the job. But at the same time,
I'm a big fan of his. I want him to
play well against Oregon. I do not want Oregon to
lose this game.

Speaker 2 (01:19:26):
Okay, so six and a half over, under sixty nine.

Speaker 3 (01:19:31):
I'm taking Oregon, and why not, let's let's have a shootout.

Speaker 2 (01:19:37):
Oh god, dude, if Oregon has a shootout and wins
this game, I would be miserable. Give me Oregon and
give me the under, Ralph, give me the under, because
it's gonna be like forty oh, forty eight fourteen, forty
eight to twenty all right, forty nine Twenty's a push, dad,

(01:20:03):
doll Lee. Give me Oregon and the I mean, they're
gonna score fifty, so.

Speaker 3 (01:20:13):
Give me.

Speaker 2 (01:20:13):
This is a good line. Give me Oregon and the over.

Speaker 3 (01:20:16):
Actually, let's go forty nine to forty two. That's what
I want to see.

Speaker 2 (01:20:21):
I want to see an I will break some shit
if they give up forty two points. I will. I will.
They will fall so far down the power rankers, they
will fall to like number five. If they give up
anything more than twenty one points.

Speaker 3 (01:20:34):
You know what I think you're gonna laugh about when
you see Texas Tech is Tyler shuck all the design
runs they have for him, because that was what kind
of cost him. The way they were calling the offense
is what made Anthony Brown the more attractive option. Now
he's out at Texas Tech, they have him running the ball.

Speaker 2 (01:20:50):
Yep, crazy Ucla San Diego State. UCLA's favored by fourteen
and a half points. Oh a minuscule forty eight and
a half over under.

Speaker 3 (01:21:03):
Please dear God, UCLA cover and the over. Please show me,
show me that you're one of the good ones. Like
show me please? I do not. This is the first time,
first time in forever, I haven't seen San Diego s
on a pack twelve team schedule and not pissed my pants.
I they're not good. I am, We're not, bro.

Speaker 2 (01:21:26):
I am what one hundred percent with your lockstep. UCLA
might have fourteen and a half and the over. They
better hit this, bro, they better Uh Stanford USC. This
game's in Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, presented by United or
whoever else as the naming right now over under sixty

(01:21:51):
nine and a half USC minus twenty.

Speaker 3 (01:21:54):
Nine twenty nine is insane, right for a rivalry game. Yes,
they're one and one against the spread.

Speaker 2 (01:22:12):
We need people getting kneecapped this year in college football.
I just don't want it to.

Speaker 3 (01:22:16):
Be I'm going to take Stanford. I'm going to take Stanford.
I am going to take Stanford. Does it sound more
confident when I say it that way? I will take Stanford.
I think they're gonna lose my four touchdowns and that's

(01:22:37):
enough for me.

Speaker 2 (01:22:38):
That's the way I think. I think twenty eight is
the number.

Speaker 3 (01:22:41):
Bro.

Speaker 2 (01:22:41):
I think twenty eight is the number. Twenty nine is
one too many.

Speaker 3 (01:22:44):
You know, USC's gonna kill us on this all year
long because we got rewarded the first week by saying
they were gonna win but not as big as they said.
Second week, we took debate, said thirty eight was too much,
and they won by fifty billion. And now this week
we're in the same exact spot. This is like twenty
two thousand and seven.

Speaker 2 (01:22:59):
Eight give me yous well us he's gonna win, But
I'm taking Stanford plus to twenty nine points. But it's
gonna be the over.

Speaker 3 (01:23:10):
I'll go with you on the over. I don't feel
good about that either.

Speaker 2 (01:23:13):
Oh I feel real good about the over that that
I will paycheck on that.

Speaker 3 (01:23:18):
No, all right, So I asked our listeners to give
us some stuff for the show. What their impressions were
Week one? Temmy Hernandez, Oh, don't we miss one?

Speaker 2 (01:23:28):
No, we still haven't done all the games.

Speaker 3 (01:23:30):
Oh that's my bad. That's my bad.

Speaker 2 (01:23:32):
It's it's reg it's preseason, all right. So we got
you see Davis Oregon State. So that's a thirty eight
and a half point line. Give me, give me you
see Davis got to learn the fights on.

Speaker 3 (01:23:52):
Thirty eight and a half. Yep, all right, this one's
for Damon. This one's for Damon Reister. You see missed
the cover thirty eight and a half.

Speaker 2 (01:24:03):
Yes, book it Auburn col Auburn's favored by six and
a half points. This game is in col Memorial Stadium
in Berkeley. Give me cow money line fifty three and
a half.

Speaker 3 (01:24:21):
Cow money line in the over.

Speaker 2 (01:24:24):
What?

Speaker 3 (01:24:26):
Yes, I don't blame the outright win. Auburn's got this
two quarterback thing going on. Robbie Ashford, your boy, and yes, yes,
the former coach of Liberty heading up to the Liberal
Bay and he's gonna leave with an owl.

Speaker 2 (01:24:49):
I listen, I'm taking Okay, are you taking it over under?
Fifty three and a half over I'm I'm I'm with you,
lockstep buddy. I'm not taking the money line though, I
am not taking the money line. I'm taking Cal plus
six and a half. You took Cal in the money line,
I'll take it.

Speaker 3 (01:25:07):
I will take I will take the L even if
I will, I will own the L even if Col
covers and doesn't win.

Speaker 2 (01:25:19):
I like Cal in this situation. I think they got
something to them this year. Oklahoma State, Arizona State, Oklahoma
State minus three and a half, fifty six and a
half over under all.

Speaker 3 (01:25:31):
Right, Well, don't make me say it out loud, but
I'll take zook See, I'll take the under and uh
this is Wyoming related. Go Cowboys.

Speaker 2 (01:25:47):
I'm with you, buddy, I'm with you. I want Rashada
to do well. I know the kid like him, a
rooting for him. I think that Oklahoma State's just gonna
be a tabit too much.

Speaker 3 (01:26:00):
They struggled this week though against Arkansas. They did not
look They did not look good at thirteen.

Speaker 2 (01:26:07):
That ain't that ain't good man.

Speaker 3 (01:26:08):
Do you think it's weird that Oklahoma State basically their
defensive coordinator took over for Dick Mason, who's on a
sabbatical or whatever. He'll get a job the second that
he decides he wants one. But their defensive coordinator's been
there since like twenty eleven. This is their fourth year
having their OC, Mike Gunny's been there for eternity. And
they still had eight starters. Bolt eight hit the transfer portal.
They were starters. They had eighteen hit the portal? What

(01:26:32):
is going on? Gundy's just like, I'm not even I'm
he said, I'm gonna treat it like politics or religion
and not even think about the why.

Speaker 2 (01:26:40):
Oh okay, well then you're a dummy because you better
figure out why then, buddy, because otherwise it's gonna yo
ass right up out of still water.

Speaker 3 (01:26:52):
Like Spencer Sanders transferred to Ole Miss where he is
not the starter, just to get out of there. And
I don't understand.

Speaker 2 (01:26:58):
It me that that dude, Do you realize how bad
it has me to jump into a bad situation, how
much you don't want to be there? Ye, Like, I'll
go be a backup rather than be be here.

Speaker 3 (01:27:09):
All right, I got some breaking news and it might
not surprise you. It's PAC twelve adjacent. Okay, Jake Hayner
just got suspended for the first six games of the
NFL season betting on games peds. What I knew that
boy was on something. He destroyed back twelve defenses for

(01:27:32):
three years. What he is the skinniest quarterback in the
NFL by the way.

Speaker 2 (01:27:38):
Oh, he was trying to gain some weight.

Speaker 3 (01:27:41):
He's trying to get up to one sixty five.

Speaker 2 (01:27:44):
Oh my god, where's the where's the A right now?

Speaker 3 (01:27:48):
New Orleans? He's the back, so we ain't gonna see him.
He's I guess he's third string in New Orleans.

Speaker 2 (01:27:54):
Yeah, so I mean we weren't gonna do anything but
see him anyway. But still, uh, all right, well there goes.

Speaker 3 (01:28:03):
What thought you laugh at that?

Speaker 2 (01:28:05):
There goes the back twelve of Polis's podcast. I'm George Reister,
he is.

Speaker 3 (01:28:09):
Did I gotta stop you? Gotta stop you? I did.
I did ask for a couple of opinions on the
first week.

Speaker 2 (01:28:13):
Oh yeah, yeah, okay, okay, okay.

Speaker 3 (01:28:15):
I I got excited and tried to jump in early.
We got chef at mall six oh two his main
takeaway from week one is that dust storms are bad
for football games. Oh okay, uh Lobo Jangles, longtime listener, We're
only four years old. He's like an original listener said.
The irony that on the way out the door of
the PAC twelve wasn't an embarrassment and looked quite formidable

(01:28:37):
has often been the opposite with ugly non con losses
or per performances. ASU was the butt head to a
pretty good loaf. And then we got former Oregon state
wide receiver Teami Hernandez asked the question, they are all
gonna eat each other in conference play, aren't they? And
yes they are, Yes they are.

Speaker 2 (01:28:57):
But I do believe this will be the one year
that we have one survivor that the entire that there
will be one team that will make it through conference unscathed.
That is my hope. It has never happened since the
conference got to twelve. This is the year.

Speaker 3 (01:29:15):
If they go, if they go eleven and one. This week,
I'm going to allow George Khlafkov to take credit for
a national championship.

Speaker 2 (01:29:23):
No, nope, nope, GE's no credit, you guys. I'm sure,
as reister, he's Ralph evs the peace out, Catch you
guys next week.
