Speaker 1 (00:05):
Hello, Hello, Hello, colleg a legendary legends. Welcome to another
episode of Squirrel Friends, the Official RuPaul's Drag Race Podcast.
I'm Alec Maampa, and it's my job to introduce you
to America's sister. She hasn't closed her legs since nine.
I said that wrong, She hasn't crossed her legs. Let

(00:30):
me do that again. No, no, no, no, no no,
you're right. The first time she hasn't crossed your legs
is two. America's sister, Lonnie Love. Hello, my gosh, Alex,
that's my mind, Lonnie. She hasn't crossed your legs. She
hasn't closed her legs. How have you been well? Listen?
Usually when we start the show, I spend the first

(00:52):
five minutes talking about your glamorous live But we actually
saw each other this weekend. We did. We did what
we do, Lonnie Love. We were at the Lead with
Love telethon benefiting Project Angel Food. It was a wonderful telethon.
It was you and me and Cormick and Taylor Dane
and Debbie Gibson, Shaka Khan and it was just a

(01:15):
wonderful thing. And can I tell you Alec was actually
operating the phone bank. He is so funny, Like he's
funny but off the cuff. You were just so funny.
You kept everyone engaged in the phone bank and you
were interviewing, you were doing your thing, and it was
live too. So we raised over one point one million

(01:36):
dollars full of Project Angel food It was a wonderful night.
How did you like it? Project Angel foods a wonderful organization.
They deliver these gourmet meals two people who are homebound
with illnesses. And it started back in the early nineties
and in the eighties during the AIDS crisis. Most of
the people they delivered to were people who were dealing
with AIDS or hid and now they've opened up their

(01:59):
kitchens to every buddy who's home bound with the nailis.
So to be able to raise one point one million
dollars for them was fantastic. Lonnie and I got to
hang out with Michelle Visage she was there that night
and Charo that was hysterical. Looks great, looks fantastic, fantastic
she was, she was really doing it. It was I
think we got to live our eighties fantasy by hanging

(02:20):
out with Debbie Gibson and Taylor Dane. That was totally awesome.
Oh and remember this was the really cool part. There
was Charlie's Angels reunion with Jacqueline Smith and Cheryl lad
and they both looked fantastic. It was a wonderful evening.
A great way to spend a Saturday night and a

(02:41):
great way to spend the day is with us because
we're gonna recap All Stars season seven, All Winter Season
episode twelve, Alec, give him the spoiler though, now you
know this is a recap podcast, so there are so
many spoilers. We're gonna be talking about the Soul Train
quick Drag. We're gonna be talking about the sink smackdowns

(03:01):
for the Crowns. They are incredible. We're gonna talk about
Roger the Queen of She done already done, had hers,
And be sure to stay tuned until the end because
Jinks monsoon is gonna enjoined us just to talk about
being the Queen of of all Queens and her journey
to the top spot of All Star seven. Alec, can

(03:23):
you believe we've reached the end? Though? Seriously, can't you
believe Jinks want We said it, We did, we did
say it, We did say it. So we each get
a pedicure. Um, We're just gonna have a pedicure date.
I mean, it's just this season is like, I'm a
little sad that it's over because it was just so
much fun and so special and just I think this

(03:46):
was like the highest concentration of talent I've ever seen
on the show. Unbelievable. Well, you know, I've really had
fun watching these episodes, but also watching them with you
because you answer a lot of the questions that I'm
like thinking and or I need to ask so and
that's the nice thing. And that's why we're such a

(04:08):
great community of squirrel friends, because it's like you see
the fashion, but maybe sometimes you can't describe the fashion
and you're like, I like it, but what is it?
Or you know some history behind it? Or you know
it's like what is it? You know? Or what is
the purpose of this challenge? And so that's the nice thing.
And that's the reason why we wanted to do this podcast,

(04:29):
is to give you know, listeners a little more than
just what they see and then they just walk away,
you know. Absolutely, So everybody stick around because we have
one more episode to talk about All Stars seven. Yeah,
there is a lot for us to get into. You
might be wondering what we'll be talking about on the

(04:50):
podcast after the finale. We have a brand new season
of Secret Celebrity Drag Race mystery celebrity queens competing in
a brand new season p mirroring on August to twelve,
be shooted, tune in for weekly recaps and a few
more surprises. Okay, okay, alright, so but for now, let's

(05:10):
get into this episode twelve because I'm just excited. I'm
still stuck in my error from the beginning of the
thing where you didn't cross your legs. Since our clothes up,
I'm just imagined the calendar pages going by, the years

(05:30):
going by. Nope, you still haven't closed them, still haven't closed,
still open. Last week, the top two were Shay and Monee,
which was like few. They each won three Legendary Legend
Stars and sha was like Moby at the beginning because
she thought she wasn't gonna make it to the top four.

(05:52):
And like I said, there was a big twist. Yeah,
we figured it was gonna be a twist. So that
was great. Because Monet had the most stars, she had
to break the tie between Jada and Trinity, and pick
who would make it to the top four. And who
did she pick? She picked Trinity, and so they formed
an alliance at the beginning, and your drag mother kept

(06:13):
her word. It would have been bad. If she didn't,
it would have been like WHOA. I would have been mad.
So I could just see that like Trinity deserves it.
It was also revealed that the bottom four queens would
also compete in a lip sinc SmackDown, and I thought
that was nice for fifty dollars. So we have two
d thousand dollars and we have the fifty thou dollars

(06:34):
that she didn't already had hers as this group, so
it was really good. Queen she done already had hers?
Is this for fifty thou dollars? You know I've done.
I've done more for less fifty thousand dollars, all for
lip singing a song. That is good money. We go

(06:57):
to the workroom and the queens are all excited about
the last challenge being over and happy they all get
to lipsick. Yeah. I think that was nice because if
they would have all I immediately went home, and you know,
after spending so much time together, the eight of them,
it was nice that they broke them off into fours
and at least it was just another layer of something

(07:19):
to do and not everybody just immediately leave, you know.
So I thought that was really nice. Yeah, Usually in
the finale episode you have the top three or the
top four and the rest of the contestants are just spectators.
So in this finale episode, everybody gets to perform. And
I think it's great too because nobody was eliminated this season.
They've all hung out together and there is a definite

(07:40):
feeling of camaraderie with everybody in the group and that's
what made last time that they were getting into the
workroom special because they knew that they did something. This
was a special episode. This was special. Yeah. I got
a little sad size that having the most stars means
that she's better than all of them. Let him tired

(08:05):
of them? Okay, she just had the biggest ass. That better.
Feels like the last day of summer camp, especially with
all eight of them still there. It feels like the
last day of camp. Like any moment, their parents are
gonna pull up and they're all gonna like, you know,
say goodbye to each other from the cabin, you know,
to go to summer camp for Girl Scouts, and it

(08:25):
was always Yeah as a girl, you know, I used
to love it because it would take me out of
the projects, anything that would take me away from the
crack the crime. Thank you to the Girl Scouts. That's why,
you know, besides the Project Angel Food, I will raise
money for the Girl Scouts because they did so much

(08:46):
for me and the camps during the summers. It was
like two weeks you would go away, we would do everything.
We would have to fish for our food. We would
have to clean our you have to fish for your
would have to fish. We would actually fish for the
fish and that's how we would eat seriously. So you
know how to do that all of that. So if
it was if this was an episode of Survivor, Lonnie

(09:07):
Love would know how to catch a fish and fry
it and eat it. Definitely scale it, cleaning everything. So
shout out to camps because I know a lot of
people aren't going in summer camps right now. I want
to hear more about this camp. How old were you
and it's little Lonnie Love in a Girl Scout uniform.
I'm trying to get the picture in my head. Yeah
I was. Let's see I was around what it was

(09:29):
about nine or ten, and it was the actual girl Scout,
not the Brownies, and then not the Brownies after the
actual Girl Scouts is the juniors. I was the actual
Girl Scout. So I had a little little uniform and
we was a little ghetto troop you know, seven or
seven too. It was not trupe Beverly Hills. It was no, no,

(09:51):
they knew when we came the whole different type of troop.
It's like, oh, clean them girls alone, a rough riders. Oh,
it was a good time. And you know, and I
always tell people, even if your child is in an
environment that might be stressed, it might not be the best.
If you just find programs for them, find things for

(10:14):
them to do, it takes them out of that. It
really did, you know, impact me a lot. My sister
was a Girl Scout for a minute, man, she was.
She was a Girl Scout long enough to actually sell
the cookies and I remember the rest of us got
into them, and she had to go to my mother
and said, Mom, do you have a hundred bucks? Because
all the cookies are gone. You know what skill I
learned the Girl Scouts, alec what how to toss to

(10:37):
an ad break. Welcome back. I just earned the Girl
Scout badge for tossing to an ad break. Okay, so
now we're back in the work room. RuPaul comes in.
How did you like RuPaul's look? Okay, let's take a
look here. RuPaul's look. This is kind of like one

(11:00):
of the chamber looks for the workroom. She has a
suit on with a black shirt underneath. It's kind of
the last day of school. She's not trying to show
off anymore. There's no hammer pants, there's no high heels,
just a regular suit. And Rule tells the Queen, like
Dorothy waking up from a Technicolor dream, your magical adventure
here is almost over. I think that's why he kind

(11:22):
of dressed a little like he loves the Wizard of
Odds references. You know, he loves a good reference. Um.
He also says that he hopes they all leave knowing
that the only legendary legend star that really matters is
themselves and drag Race and the queens have helped lots
of people find who they belong. And can I reiterate that,

(11:45):
like that me doing celebrity drag Race, I cannot explain
how important it is when you say I'm going to
be somebody other than myself. That's how it break it
down for us. Because a lot of the queens talk
about the magic of drag, and you've actually had that experience.

(12:06):
So what did it do for you? Like when Trinity
does your hair and your makeup and you're in full
guiche and you have a gown on and they reveal
you and you see yourself that way, what did it
do for you personally? Well, for me, it just showed
a different part of me. First of all, what I
loved about Trinity. She was so talented, she did everything.
She helped me along the way with my costume, with

(12:30):
the look. I think people don't realize that drag is
really an art. It's not just people putting on makeup.
It's actually an art. And you have to decide how
you're gonna look, how do you want to feel, what
do you want to represent? You pick a drag name
that represents and embodies you, and so mine was Mary
Jay Ross. I love it. So it does something inside

(12:55):
of you because you remember yourself as a young person
and you start reliving like how you grew up or
you know, if there was some trauma if there was something,
you know, if kids bullied you about your size or
about your look, about your color. You kind of relive
that going through drag. And that's why you see the
queens getting emotional, and in this episode you do see

(13:18):
them get emotional. Now you've done drag, correct, Yeah, I've
done drag in a movie called Connie and Carlo where
I'm in drag for most of it. I play a
drag queen in that. I did a Broadway play called
and Butterfly where I was in drag all the time,
and it's kind of like my experience was I'm still me.
But when the wig and the makeup and the outfit

(13:38):
comes on, everybody treats you differently, and then you look
at yourself in the mirror and you go, it's it's you,
but it's not you, and there's something in you that
kind of rises to match the outside. I feel like
it's being turned into a superhero, Like if you were
given superpowers for the day and all of these queens
have created their own superhero that kind of you, like

(14:00):
you said, rescues that bullied kid inside of you, you know,
rescues the kid that was picked on. It was like
all of these drag personas empower the person who comes
up with them. You know, it's really amazing. So when
Ruth said that, it was very moving, very moving. Now
this week, the first time in drag race history, there
will be two lip Sincs, the La La Rusa smackdowns

(14:24):
for the crown. But first somebody World of Wonder needs
to come up with shorter titles for these finales. To
Let's take Lala Perusa smackdowns for the crowd. It's like, okay,
I love it. But first before those smackdowns, they have
one last time together in the workroom. Rue wants to
boogie on down. He gives them fifteen minutes. He get

(14:44):
into quick drag, which they all hate, and they take
one last ride on what those the Soul Train. Don't
like their looks. I love the looks. Also, I'm obsessed
with Soultia. Sultra needs to come back. Oh my god, Lonnie,
if you oostan soul Train, that would be amazing. You

(15:05):
could be a Lottie love Cornelius like I was obsessed
with Soul Train, like it would always come on after all.
The cartoons were done on Saturday mornings, and I also
used to love all the black hair care commercials PA
PA positively beautiful, you know what. Shout out to Don Cornelius.

(15:27):
He was the original host and he was also the
creator of Soul Train. It started out in Chicago and
what Don did, It's really hard, especially back in the
seventies to do. He created a dance show that would
highlight African American acts, R and B acts love, peace

(15:48):
and soul love Piece. But this is the thing. As
the show grew, they ended up getting acts that were soulful.
So they had David Bowie, they had Elton John come
on with Benny and the Jets, and it was always
about the dances. Everybody, like you said, on Saturdays would
tune in to see the latest dances, the latest fashion

(16:09):
and it really it was just awesome. Don corn Is
he started locally and then he was able to get
it syndicated and actually the rival. It became such a
hit that at the time there was another dance show
called American Bands Dance hosted by Dick Clark, and he
tried to do a black version and it didn't turn

(16:32):
out so well. Dick Clark hosting his own version of
the Black American Bands Dance, Yeah, so it was like,
so what I saw when I saw Rude doing the
whole soul trained dancing, it was just fun. I loved
what Money had on. It was like a body suit

(16:53):
with the hair. Because the thing about soul training it
was always about the afro, so it was what color afro.
The The dancing was great, even the Vivian. The Vivian
had a funny way of dancing, but in the end
it was hilarious because she's kind of like she was
doing flips and then and and half splits and she

(17:15):
was getting down and they were all she was. Jada
Essence Hall came out, she had fifteen minutes to get
into drag and she looked at music like she had
full makeup done and everything. Like the rest of them
were like kind of goofing around, but like Jada Essence
Hall looked like she had been in the makeup chap
for three hours. She looked absolutely incredible. She is just
just a gorgeous, gorgeous thing. So I think that that

(17:37):
was nice to have that like one last shin dig
and down. You know, that was so much fun. So
now after that we get straight into the main stage runway. Okay,
let's talk about Rue Paul's look. This was speaking of afros.

(18:01):
He said, it was all about the afro. This kind
of color honey blonde. She does it because it goes
perfectly with her skin. She had a perfectly global afro.
It is, it's like perfectly round, and they start out
with these really loose curls in the front, just shaped
into this perfectly honey blonde afro. And then she's kind
of in this show girl outfit. It's on the shorter side.

(18:24):
It was like it's almost like from the circus, like
it had a lot of feathers and everything. Yeah, the
stuff coming up absolute beautiful because every time, because Rue
is so tall, those feathers just move the way she moves.
It's just it's just beautiful and lovely. The runway category
is Grand Finale Extravaganza. Oh no, not Extravaganza. Elegance is

(18:52):
Eleganza Grand Finale, Eleganza, Alega Eleganza. So the first that
was Jada hessens Hall referred to. Oh, they were given
all um titles, like each of the judges got a
chance to tell them about their season and what they

(19:13):
enjoyed about them this season. And I thought that was
really beautiful. And this week it was just the family.
It was Michelle, Carson and Ross were all there because
this is the finals, so and as you're right, they
got to say something lovely. So up first was Jada,
who was crowned the essence of everything, and she came
out in a silver fringe dress. It was all metallic,

(19:35):
like a nineteen twenties fringe dress, but it had fringe everywhere.
It had fringe dripping from the bodice, from the corset,
almost like kimono sleeve fringe. Her earrings were like chandelier
fringe coming down from her ears. She wore kind of
like a nineteen thirties Marcel Wave they used to call it,
where their hairs in those tight curls really close. And

(19:57):
she looked so beautiful. She looked like Joe's a fen Baker.
That's who I thought. I immediately when I saw her,
I said, Jada could play Josephine Baker, just lovely. And
I watched her performance too. You know, when she walks
down the runway, it's like it's the show. You see
them off stage at a drag and Jade is really funny,
like they've been showing them literally dragging each other on

(20:19):
the floor and goofing around like little kids. And when
she hits the runway, she's a supermodel. She's just graceful
and lovely at the same time. Up next is Raja
who's been crowned the Shaman of Chic and Roger came
out almost looking like a drag praying mantis. She was like,
there's this drag queen on Instagram called is she hungry?

(20:42):
And a lot of her stuff makes her look like
a praying mantis or insect and she looks like an
alien queen in this one. Remember Aliens, the movie the
sequel to The First Alien where Ripley goes and she
meets the Queen Alien. That's what Raja looks like here,
absolutely beautiful. The look that I saw with rag To
what got me was that she's so dedicated to all

(21:03):
of her looks that she even changed her eyes. She
put in the contacts, And that's how dedicated she is
that she's even thinking, I want everything to embody this
rather of this world look, this alien look. It kind
of reminded me of like the Alexander McQueen looks that
Lady Gaga used to wear when she first came out

(21:24):
with those lobster shoes. And I think about Raja is
she's all about the news, She's all about the latest. Yeah,
she's very futuristic in her fashion, very fashion forward, and
that's why we love Raja up Net the Vivian who
is given the title Powerhouse Scouse. Scouse is the accent
she has from Liverpool. And she came out with kind

(21:46):
of like almost like a lingerie gown with feathers, with
feathers again trend alert feathers. There's something at marabooth feathers,
full length gown. The top was kind of like a
nude illusion corset. She had on like almost like one
of Rupe Paul's wigs. It's a platinum blonde what ms
cracker would call a stacked wig because it's not just

(22:07):
one wig, it's two wigs stacked up on each other.
So it's almost like Dolly parton ruepaul platinum blonde wig.
And she looks exquisite. And she said she wanted to
do something opposite of what she would normally do. That
was her comment, and she really did. But she looks
lovely either way, and I thought this was a great
look for her. The illusion is beautiful. Next was Evie,

(22:30):
the oddly Queen of the Queer Dos, and she was
what is this look? Okay? If she came out dressed
as a birthday cake, she kind of reminded me of
like something from Beauty and the Beast, you know, when
all the plates and cups start singing b r guest.
She was in a cheered dress which looked like a

(22:52):
wedding cake and it was like maybe three tiers of
cake and then attached to a bodice, and she had
a purple frosting wig. And it was so true to
eat AD's brand. But it worked for her too. I
have to say that, you know, because the first thing
you see her coming out with this cake dress, you're like,
wait a minute, and then you remember it is Evie,

(23:14):
so it works. It's Evie, Queen of the Cueados. And
she stayed true to herself this whole season. And the
thing about Evie is you're never bored, You're never like again.
She never repeats herself. Absolutely amazing. Next up we have
Jax Monsoon, who was named show Queen Supreme. How do

(23:35):
you like this look? All right? This was kind of
like a Game of Thrones look. It was like almost
like armor. She was looking like a warrior. You didn't
like this one that much? You're like asking me what
I thought. I mean, I think it kind of looks
like a medieval time kind of like yeah, yeah, you
wanted something a little more spectacular. I mean I felt

(23:57):
like I've seen this on her a number of times, okay,
and I just wanted something to me your final look.
I wanted a little more glamour and not so much play.
Maybe that was just me. Yeah, this was kind of
a zena princess warrior caused play, something you'd see a
comic con. But there are gown elements in it. I

(24:17):
like the armored bodice and the sword. But you're right,
it isn't like compared to like the Vivian and the
other girls. This doesn't seem as glamorous, but it's true
to how Jinx is feeling during the finale. She feels
like a war real warrior. Okay, you got the next
Monai exchange Diva Monet. This she wanted to do an

(24:42):
afro futuristic look. Did you see the new Waconda trailer
it came out. It was wonderful. There's so many people
who are posting reactions to it. And they're crying. It's like,
by the time Angela Bassett gets her seed, I'm the
queen of the richest nation on Earth. This is this
reminded me of She came out almost looking like one

(25:02):
of the Dora milage on going to a drag ball
in Harlem. She's bald, she has a new Delusion body suit.
She has a piercing going through our nose septum, almost
like a spear going through, and she looks both feminine
and threatening at the same time. It's beautiful, It's it's
a lot different. It doesn't look like a cosplay to me.

(25:27):
It really looks like an outfit that maybe it's because
of what is this blue in the back that's kind
of like her background right right, she has this kind
of wave in back of her going over one shoulder
and coming around the end. It doesn't you're right, because
Jinx kind of looks like, Hi, we're a comic con
and this looks like afro futuristic. First of all, you

(25:50):
have me at afro Futuristic. There was so much of
that earlier in the season, like when Shay Kule came
out as that Nubian princess with a hair raw stack
and the earring lobes. That was just so beautiful. All right.
Up next we have Shakle who was crowned Empress of Excellence.
And you know what, this was excellent. First of all,

(26:10):
she stole one of my weeks. I think, Um, I've
never seen you in this week before. This is one
of those short Dennis the Menace love wig like this,
especially when it's hot. When it's hot, this is what
you want to wear and it's still fashionable. It gives
your face some shape and shake and she can wear this.
But this dress, this dress is kind of like almost

(26:32):
like a tropical flamenco dress. It's no shoulders and comes
in really tight and then it kind of billows down
into all these layers, kind of like a flamenco dress.
And it's in these tropical colors, like it starts out
as raspberry on the bottom, goes to orange, goes to yellow,
goes to orange again and almost kind of citrus at
the top. It is beautiful. It's just a beautiful look. Yeah,

(26:56):
and this is something that we know from Sha She
never disappoints. I remember at the end of her All
Stars when she said that her dragon, her essence is
a tribute to all the black women in her life.
And she came out in that pink gown before with
a huge hair do. She's exquisite and this did not disappoint.
This was a beautiful, beautiful finale look. Last, but not least, Trinity,

(27:17):
my drag Mom, Your drag mom, the CEO of Sass Brass,
and a whole lot of hass. What was your drag
mama wearing? Lonnie my drag Mama came out and it's beautiful.
It was like a bodysuit under a long pink coat. Yeah,
like a coat that kind of like turned into a train,

(27:39):
she reminds me. And she's in all pinks. She's in
an amber wig, which I don't think i've seen her
in this season. Beautiful, and the bodice underneath is almost
like a trapeze artist, kind of like from the circus
for like when you were a kid. And she's beautiful.
She reminds me of like one of those holiday barbies
that they said at Christmas time. I know I've mentioned
that reference before, but it's accurate. And again, she's like

(28:03):
such a show girl. She comes out and her whole
runway is always fun. She's always got the faces and
the poses and everything. She's my favorite this season. Now
that we're towards the end, I can talk about like
I always enjoyed her, but moreover, I enjoyed her personality.
I enjoyed how much she helped the other girls, and
her sense of humor. Like she was always in a competition,

(28:26):
she always wanted to do well, but she never seemed cutthroat,
and she always kind of remembered like before and after
this season, I was friends with all the girls, and
after this I'm still going to be friends with a girl.
And that's what we love about Trinity. You know, all
of the outfits, like I said, except for maybe Jinks,
but all the outfits. You can't lie, Lonnie, because when

(28:48):
you said Jenks and the first time, Jason went all right,
what do you think of this? And I love James,
I love I love you know. I just for your
final you know, I just wear cause play to the finality.
And can I say that? You know? One of my
favorites has been Jada Essence Hall. Just the beauty that

(29:09):
Jada exudes. But Jada knows her body, she knows what
she can wear. She also knows her comedy and she's
also herself. A lot of times when you're a person
like Jada, where you oh girl, you know, people will
try to make you scale back, and Jada is like,
you're gonna accept me for the girl. And that's what

(29:30):
my love about Jada's like, she's not trying to be
something different. She knows who she is. She adds that
and that adds to her personality. So that's what I
love and just lovable all of them this season. We're
so lovable and there were certain things like I feel
like this was a rediscovery of Raja this season. You know,
Raja's season was so long ago, and if you hadn't

(29:53):
been watching the show and you're watching for the first time,
this was an all new Raja that nobody's ever seen before.
I love of the Vivian coming in and at first
feeling like she wasn't one of the girls and then
actually becoming one of the girls. Monet, I always love
Monet to me, became a different queen this year. When
she started seeing opera. I was like, oh my gosh,

(30:14):
so much more to her. Incredible. You know, this is
the thing about this finale, This was the last time
that ru really gets to appreciate and say thank you
to the queens and also the judges. So you know,
RuPaul really got emotional talking to the queens about the
impact that they had on lives around the world, and

(30:35):
she thinks that they're heroes. Monet tells Rue how appreciative
she is and the other queens are for the show
and what Rue has done. And this was my favorite
moment of this episode. Yeah, I got a little teared
because she said, I love you, guys, I genuinely love you.
And if you're a drag queen, she's the Queen Bee

(30:56):
telling you that she loves you and she appreciates who
you are. That is like being knighted, like when the
Queen of England knights your or gives you the title
of dame or something. I mean, it was that big, right,
It seemed to be that important. But when you think
about it, Alec, when you think about how many episodes
they do, not just in America but all around the world,

(31:18):
how many drag cons how many times has Rue Paul
seen someone go from zero to a hundred and to
steal at this moment get emotional. That tells you that
he's just not phoning it in. He really is invested
in each and every queen, and I think that that

(31:39):
is just awesome. It's not like you know, sometimes you know,
somebody will be on American Idol, you know, and you
never hear from them again. And then on this show,
these girls, the ones who really decided to run with it.
I'm talking about the ch Angelas and the tricky Mattels
and the trinities who really take advantage of this opportunity.
Rue gives you the keys to the kingdom and it's

(32:01):
kind of the next steps are up to you. I'm
gonna say this. I think that, Um, I get emotional
thinking about it. Um. I think that RuPaul has given
people like us, and I say us because I feel
like I'm part of the community a voice for a
long time, especially in the in the African American community.

(32:26):
You know, if we were to see someone like a
Monet or a Shay, they would be ostracized, they would
be made fun of. What RuPaul has done in the
fourteen fifteen seasons plus you know, all Stars and all
around the world is he has made people respect this art.

(32:49):
And I think that it shows that anything is possible
if you just allow it to happen and accept it
and the appreciate it. They're not freaks, They're not people
who are strange. There are people who are artists that
are loved that you know, may not have the same

(33:10):
lifestyle as you, but there are human beings and they
need to be respected. And that's what That's why I
love being part of this community because Rue Paul has
made it, Rue Michelle Carson, all of us has made
it so that they're acceptable, and we keep fighting every
day for people to have respectability and to let people

(33:35):
live the way they want to live. Okay, that's my
ted talk. No, I just I just think it's awesome
and I know it's true. I think that also like
when when anybody is invited to a forum and they're themselves.
My friend is a drag queen. Coco Peruhs said that
people are hard wired to respect the truth. There's something

(33:59):
in us. We all have a built in bullshit meter,
and when somebody is not themselves, or when somebody's a
liar or somebody's hiding something, this is a forum where
the truth is welcomed, vulnerability is welcomed, and you're right,
it's been very empowering for our entire community and I'm
I'm proud to be part of it with you, Lonnie

(34:24):
of that because this fabulous rung way. We have to
get down to business. But before we get to business,
let's take care of some other business during a quick
commercial breaking. I hope that little break prepared you for
recapping these amazing lip sync battles. Get down to business.

(34:47):
Time for the SmackDown, the lip sync SmackDown for the Crown. Okay,
the first lip sync SmackDown for the Crown is for
the Queen of She done already done at hers uh.
Each round's contestants will be decided by the Big Wheel.
I love that big Wheel. I love game shows. I

(35:08):
love anything that stands a little with their faces on
it and they so they spend it. And the first
round is the Vivian versus Evie. Oddly I was like, wow, yeah,
that was a good match up. The Vivian chose the
brass box and the song was Push It by Salt
and Pepper. There's still a tear going down your your
You look like that native American in the commercial looks

(35:30):
at the pile of garbage by the freeway. Remember that
google it. The Vivian when she saw Push It she said,
I should have picked the other box. I know. It
was a really funny lip sync. Evie had the moves
and the Vivian didn't. So the Vivian kind of did

(35:52):
her goofy thing. I think that if you don't have
the moves, you make the choice to be funny. That's
what Vivian did. But Evie had the moves and she
killed it. She looked really cute. She had on this
kind of almost like a Lichton Stide pop art print
suit that was so cute, and the Vivian was kind
of in a flesh colored lingerie hat suit that was

(36:14):
really really fun. Remember that move she did for the
dance challenge, the TikTok Dance Challenge, which she just basically
rolled all over the place. She did that. They were
both great, but Evie won the lip sync. I agree
with that. I think when you have a song like
push It, that's the thing. This is still a competition.
People have to remember that, and the lip sync song

(36:35):
really matters. And sometimes you gotta be able to move,
you got to be able to groove, you know. I
felt like the Vivian may have been a little constricted
with that outfit and the heels and couldn't move as
much as she possibly wanted. Yeah, and Evie looked like
she was having a really good time. She looked like
she was having a blast. So the next lip sync

(36:57):
matchup was between ra and Jada Essen So I was like, oh,
what is going to happen because these are two of
my face. So the Platinum Box had Let's hear it
for the Boy Williams. Remember you couldn't get away with
that song. It was everywhere, you know what. Denise Williams
said that when she originally did that song, she hated it.

(37:20):
She didn't think it was gonna be in. She not
like and then it became a massive hit and she
loved it. Yeah, it was on the foot Loose soundtrack.
And these are two formidable queens and the one that
went forward was Raja. Rajah was all in leopard, She
had these pointy collars. She was wearing Cordin's kind of

(37:42):
leopard mini overcoat over like a glittery brown dress, and
she had her silver Raja hair. And Jada Essence Hall
was like in yellow bandages that were tightly wound around
her body. She looked like a glamorous mummy and she
had her long long hair, and they were both a
lot of fun. But Rajah was the one that ended

(38:02):
up a dancing I kind of thought maybe that Jada
him one that. But the thing answer is that the
judges see it actually live, and we're seeing it right tape,
and it's different. You know, sometimes we're missing certain elements
of it. But that's who they picked. So you're saying
that if you were there, you would have been that

(38:24):
person objecting. I disagree. I always if anybody thinks this
couple should not be together, I always. You know, that's
something that people don't know. They don't get to see.
We really do deliberate at the judges. What you see
from television, we're deliberating at least a good ten minutes.

(38:45):
And I fought for a lot of queens. You have,
you really have, and you've been there for so many
legendary lip syncs. I mean, you were there for some
really really good ones where you were judging Denali present
Cure Love. You could hear you on the on the

(39:05):
Folks Squirrel Friends. If you go to YouTube right now,
Lonnie Love is like she's at a Baptist church sis.
She is hollering as soon as Donali starts to vogue
forward and she's doing that thing. You're like screaming. It's
so much. I wanted to get up there with her
because I'm like, but my knees couldn't take it. But
I was like, so good. And then when she looked

(39:27):
at the other queens and dragged her finger across her
throat like I'm gonna kill all of you, she was.
That's legend, Heary, That's one of my favorites. So Rajah
ends up moving forward. Now what did they give the
loserd Okay, they got something that roommate up. It's a
crown and scepter combined into one thing called a crept,

(39:48):
so that each got a crept. And I'm surprised that
Rude didn't include her name into it because she loves
doing that, like you'll each get a rue crept, But no,
it's just a crown and the sceptic combined crept. Wow. Alright,
so what do we have next? The lip sync SmackDown
for the Queen of all Queens. This is the second part. Again,

(40:10):
we're introduced to the Big Wheels fun by my friend Keelix,
or as Root calls are, Calix. I have to call
Calix or Keeli sometime and say, all right, what is it, buddy.
First up on the wheelspin was Jinks Monsoon versus Shay.
You know, Jinks has always been my person to win,

(40:30):
to take it all, so I was interested to see
what was going to happen. Yep, yep, yep, yep. And
so they come out and Jinx is all in red.
It's kind of simple. She has kind of a simple
outfit on. It's like a black corset with a zipper
down the middle, almost like a scuba diving outfit. I

(40:51):
was kind of a lingerie around the thye area with
this red like satin overcoat that she used to sp
and around during the lip sync, so she looked like
a red tornado while she was dancing. And Jinks actually
chose the Platinum Box and that was the song Judas
by Lady Gaga, which I think really helped with that

(41:15):
outfit that she had on. I was like, that's gonna
be awesome, it's perfect. Now what did she have on?
She had on like a yellow body suit that had
kind of like almost like it was like red blood splatter. Yeah. Yeah,
she looked like she was an e MT helping during
a car accident, but again but glamorous. She wore a

(41:36):
platinum kind of punk wig, punk eighties wig, and they
both gave it their best. Again she has the moves,
but Jinks gave it kind of like an emotional performance,
kind of was in it and viewing that song with
as much meaning as she could. And she's the one
who ended up advancing danced. So up next was Monai's

(41:59):
Chain and my drag mom Trinity the Tuck. They had
the brass box that was left and it had so
what by Pink that's right, so what I'm still a
rock star and hilarious, I mean, both of them. It
was nice for both of them to be lip sinking
for that to come out to the two of them

(42:19):
because they're such good friends. So it was really fun
seeing them performed together. And they tied. This was been
away kind of like the Twinters, and it was like
a tiebreaker, right because you know, Money even said she said,
we are really back to the same. That just tells
you their talent For them to go all this way
and they still end up together, I mean, right, that's

(42:41):
very cool. Trinity actually was dressed like pink. She had
on this like turquoise blue Lingerie number again with the feathers.
Feathers are really big this season, trend alert. She had
like this punk, short, platinum blonde wig, very much like
how Pink wears during the Grammys when she's doing her
search to sole act. Monet was in a long black wig.

(43:02):
I like Bonet bald, but I also like her with hair.
I like her with the hair. She was in kind
of what color would you call that? Violet? Kind of
like a violet body suit, like a very very cute,
very very cute with a little peplum and so adorable.
They lip sync to so what They were both a
lot of fun, but the winner ended up being Mona Exchange.

(43:25):
So that means Monet and Jinks are vying for the
Queen of All Queen crowns. Wow, this is going to
be so The final two standing was Raja and Evie
for the Queen of She done already had hers is
and you know what I love. I love that all

(43:45):
the music this time, with the exception of Gaga and
the Pink song, which are more recent, they picked a
lot of eighties stuff and I always love this song.
Sisters are doing it for themselves and Maresa Franklin and
the rhythmics so much fun. So it was Evie and Raja.
This is the outfit that Raja was wearing where she
kind of looked like Grace Jones. It was kind of

(44:07):
this hooded number I love, so cute. It was so cute.
Had these billowy sleeves and kind of this eighty poofy
skirt and these knee high boots, all in the kind
of the same kind of almost rose gold winter, very
very pretty. Evie was in a pants suit skin tight

(44:27):
with her bra showing all in turquoise and almost like
a turquoise platinum wig, and so much fun. Then the
time comes from RuPaul to name the winner, and the
Queen of she already done had hers is is Raga.
She also won fifty thousand dollars. She gets a scepter.

(44:51):
It was wonderful, and Evie also got a scepter as well.
She did you agree with that? I did agree with it,
just because of all I mean, I love them both
both uniquely talented their own ways. But the looks that
Raja brought were just unbelievable this season. So for that reason,
I'm glad that she won this, and I love the
emotional moment that she had with Rue on stage where

(45:13):
both of them, where she got to tell Rue how
much she means to her. I thought that was really
really cool, and I think I want to remind the
Squirrel friends that because this was the finale, it goes
back to not only just that lip sync, but the
whole entire, all the challenges and things. So I think

(45:33):
they took that into consideration. And like you said, Rajah
had the looks, she had, the attitude she had. She
gave us a lot of heart. Um. You know, she
she got the plunger one time because she really really
wanted it, you know. But she was so funny in
her snatch game. I mean, you know, if you you
go back and look at the episode and you're like,
oh wow, you know, Raja really deserved it as well

(45:57):
as all of the queens, but you have to pick,
you know, on one. So I was really happy with
with that, and I was happy for Raga me too. Okay,
let's get to the big one, the SmackDown for the
Queen of All Queens, the final round between Jinks, Monsoon
and Monaix Change. The song was Swish Wish by Katy
Perry featuring Nicki Mnat, How did you like this lip sync?

(46:21):
I did like this lip sync. I like both of
the looks. Mona was back to her short haircut, her
short pussycat wig, which you love, and she was in
a metallic mini dress that was kind of billyuy, and
I had these puffy sleeves on the side. I love
how drag queens know how to catch the light. Yes,
you know, if you come out with something sparkly and metallic,

(46:42):
it's gonna catch the light. She knows that she looked terrific.
Jinks was kind of like in a full length sixties outfit.
It was all leopard, this kind of caftan, but when
it opened up she had a leopard pant suit underneath.
And they did that Katy Perry Swish Wish Bitch song,
which is so much fun. I didn't know that song
until I heard it on TikTok because everybody was doing

(47:04):
a TikTok video. Do it so Good? It's such a good,
so good, and boy this is this is a really
close one one. But RuPaul made her decision and after
a quick break, we're going to talk to the newly
crowned Queen of All Queens, Jake Spansoon, We're back and

(47:34):
with us to share her thoughts on the thrilling finale
of All Star seven. Please welcome the Queen of All Queens.
It's so much fun to say, Jack Spansoon, Congratulations, Jinks.
I just want you to know that I picked you
to win. I'm never going to hear the last that's

(47:54):
the very first episode. Well maybe the second episode because
I'm also a comedy girl. But I just congratulations, Sweetie.
I am so excited. We're excited, and thank you for
doing Squirrel Friends. What is going through your mind? How
does it feel to be titled and win the title
of Queen of All Queens? It's you know, it's very
surreal because I'm working right now. You know, all us

(48:18):
girls are getting back to doing our gigs and stuff,
and so I was in Australia. I had to take
a break from doing my makeup for UM last night's show,
found out the results, and then just had to get
back to doing my makeup. I was a little late,
okay for the show, but but time last night in Melbourne, Australia,

(48:42):
and the audience was just so lovely and we all
really celebrated. Dayla and I UM did a little Did
you go out on stage and announced that you had
won a little bit? I mean yeah, more or less.
Most people at the meet and greet, we're already bringing
it up, and um we did give a spoiler warrny.
But yeah, last night was just crazy. Well, I gotta

(49:05):
tell you something, as I'm I'm a huge Judy fan
from way back. So when you did snatch game as
duty and it was life changing, it was it was
really game changing, Like that's going to be the performance
that everybody has to top or clear or approximate. How
did how do you feel about did you expect? Because

(49:26):
the response to that was seismic. Everybody was obsessed with it.
The BB it was it was like Renee Zellweger, who,
So I want to know how how you responded to
the response to your Judy which was just amazing. That
was you know, it was so early in the season
and I was still adjusting to like being a topic again,

(49:51):
like when you're currently on Drag Race, you adjust to
everyone talking about you every week, and so I don't know,
I was still like so bewildered at that point, but
it was it was really, it was really really lovely
because you know, I think one thing that drag queens
do is we keep cultural icons alive for the younger generations.

(50:14):
And even though I was taking the pits out of things, um,
I really do you know love Judy and old Hollywood
and the starlets that inspired me as a young person.
And to get to like remind younger generations of these
icons who are so important to me and so many
other drag queens and queer people, it's it's um a

(50:37):
lot of fun. So what's the card holding that secret
that you had one? Because we every week we you know,
we revealed things about how hard was it holding that secret?
And you knew you had one. Listen, they wiped my
memory right after we filmed. It was like men in black.
They took me into a sterile room and they wiped

(50:59):
me queen, and I was sent back to my family.
I thought I was at a nature retreat. You know,
I love it. Well. Listen, Lonnie and I both do
stand up and uh so we both write our own
material and and and what what became clear to me
as a season went on is that you're a master writer.

(51:20):
Like you're a really terrific comic writer in terms of
like when you did the Roast, when you did Judy,
when you did all of the challenges, did you approach
the challenges first and foremost as a writer? I think
I've approached the challenges first and foremost as a producer,
like um producing the one woman show of James Monsoon,

(51:43):
and um, I definitely, you know, I've gained some writing
skills over the years, especially working on my holiday tour
every year with Bendela Krem and our holiday film which
you can see on Hulu. I'm a man of that film.
I've seen that at least, thank you so much. So

(52:03):
I um, I definitely, you know, like feel strong about
my writing skills. But it was also like the producer
hat was on, like when do I need to be
more of a writer, and when do I need to
trust my gut and go out there and wing it?
And when do I need to think like a branding
CEO or something? You know. Now, besides the Judy moment, jinks, Um,

(52:29):
was there a moment that you felt your legendary legend
star shine the brightest other than the Judy because it
shined there brightly. Well. Definitely in the roast. But I
think one of the challenges that I was most surprised
by was the drag you ation speeches. And I had
a lot of fun writing that speech, and um, you know,

(52:53):
everything from that speech was true. And it is this
thing at this like moment of reflection where like in
my mid thirties now and I have to see a
chiropractor and I'm like, you know, I'm getting older. But
what I've always loved doing with my work is taking

(53:13):
my life experiences and processing them, finding a way to
make them entertaining and funny, and finding like some kind
of like what's the wisdom I gave a gain from
that experience and and how can I pass that on
to an audience? And that draguation speech, I think was
like a culmination of all those things I like to

(53:34):
do with my work. So I was really proud of
that win. You brought so many great looks to the
runway that I mean, you really upped your Auntie, because
I watched your first season and that was kind of
like Jinks from Seattle. The category is the category is
very first time on drag Race, but this, I mean
it was next level. I'm thinking the veiled one with

(53:56):
the birds up in the air and so many unforgetable looks.
What are your three favorite looks this season that you brought. Oh,
I really really loved the knitted look um one because
uh um, we were paying homage to Marlena Dietrich and

(54:17):
I was really excited to do that. But also the
designer is zero Waste Daniel, and that entire look was
made from salvaged and recycled fabrics and they hand wove
all the yarn together which they used to design the
dress and knit the dress together, and it was just

(54:39):
exciting to wear something that was like so gorgeous but
also like you know, um uh good for the planet? Mindful, mindful, yes, yes, yes.
And then I had so many wonderful looks by my
main designer, Dallas Culture, and I think my favorite one
that she did was my pleather look, where I was
like a to them Mary Poppins. H you had some

(55:05):
great looks. You know, you had this confidence that I
love throughout the whole season. And did you have a
game plan for winning jinks because it seems like even
though you were the most blocked, how did you keep
that confidence and did you have a game plan? Well? Um,
confidence is uh something I still struggle with all the time.

(55:29):
I think I I think I deal with textbook imposter
syndrome UM symptoms, you know, every other day in my work.
But I also just have a lot of fun doing
what I do. And I think more often than not,
my like passion for what I do overpowers my like
moments of doubt and um my insecurities, I guess, UM.

(55:55):
And my game plan was just to make sure every
time I'm in a challenge, I'm like giving you everything
that I love to do about Jink's monsoon, you know,
make sure that I'm always like giving you um the
most fantastical version of this character I've been working with
for half my life. Lonnie said something interesting to somebody

(56:18):
doing a challenge doing one of the drag race things
that Monique said to Lonnie. You told me this, Lonnie,
that when you were and soul plain and you were
had little doubts and Monique said to you do the
thing that got you here and I and that's definitely
what you do. I see you kind of make the
decision to have fun no matter what. And I think
the proof of that is you want to dance challenge

(56:39):
making a peanut butter sandwich. I mean that was That's
that's punk rock right there. That is favorite challenge probably
the roast, but not because I won, and not just
because I was like proud of the roast that I wrote,

(56:59):
but h I just love laughing at myself. And the
girls had some amazing jokes. There was this one that
I don't think made it to air, but it was
an evy joke that I told, Like, I just thought
it was so hilarious. I would say it to myself
every night before bed. But um, she commented on my

(57:20):
marriage to my husband, and she's like, Jinxon has got
this really hot British husband and if you want to
keep them, girl, you better, um go sweep up the
trail of breadcrumbs you left on the way to your
gingerbread house. And I just thought that. I thought it
was so stupid and so funny. And I just love
laughing at myself because like kind of like what I

(57:43):
said before, you know, like, um, we get to as entertainers,
we oftentimes get to like process our emotions through our work,
and I always feel like laughing at ourselves, like at
a roast or just what drag queens do in the
dressing room, it takes it gives the power to us,
you know, we co easy each other about these things

(58:06):
we might be insecure about. But when we laugh at
at first, we take the power away from like the
real enemies out there being able to hurt us with
those very same words. You know. That's what I've been
doing as a queer kid since the third grade, you know,
just like we laugh at ourselves first. Now you talked
about this maybe being your last time ever on the

(58:26):
drag race stage. What did it feel like to close
that chapter and to go out on top. Well, I knew,
you know, no matter the outcome of the whole season,
I knew that this is probably my last time competing,
you know, because you start to you start to lose

(58:46):
your fervor at an older age. Race could be a young,
young queen's game sometimes. Um but I don't know, it
just kind of felt like it felt so right when
I went on season five, like everything just fell into place,
and the same kind of happened for this season, you know,

(59:09):
like I was my at my two year mark with
um my sobriety from alcohol dayal and I had experienced
the success I met the love of my life. I like,
you know, through the adversity of the pandemic, I got
to really take stock of everything that I'm really happy
about my life. And when they gave me that, when

(59:29):
they called me, I was just like in a really
good place and I was like, if I'm ever going
to compete again, it should probably be right now, you know, Jane,
speaking of your lovely husband, I saw that he sent
out a a a tweet and he basically said, you know,

(59:50):
no matter who wins, let's be kind to each other.
And I've just felt that, you know, have has have
the fans been kind? Um? You know, I really really
it's social media has taken such a huge step forward
in our lives since the last time I competed, and

(01:00:11):
I really had to be strict about not going down
the comment rabbit hole just for my own, um, mental
well being. But I do think that my favorite thing,
my favorite like aspect of this season was that it
was just so celebratory and so largely positive, and I

(01:00:31):
feel like, um, we're at this moment in time where
that's what we should be doing. We should be like
celebrating each other and uplifting each other as much as
we can because there's just so much against absolutely absolutely

(01:00:52):
there was You could definitely sense the camaraderie for this season,
the respect that you all have for each other's talent
and each other's rag. It was really off the charts. So, um,
we have to wrap this up because we know you're busy,
but all of us here at school friends and all
your school friends listening out there want to know what's
next for Jinx Monsoon. Oh well, um, Dayalen, I will

(01:01:14):
be doing our holiday tour once more, and I'm coming
in December. I'm coming in Los Angeles. Oh yeah, We're
so excited. Um, we get to do it bigger and
better than ever before. We're taking dancers with us to
the UK for the first time, and um, it's gonna
be a great one this year. Um, I have a
new Wow Presents Plus show coming out, a sketch comedy

(01:01:37):
show um called Sketchy Queen's and that'll be coming out
at the end of August. I think I'm working on
new music. I'm always working on new shows with Dayla
and my music partner, Major Scales, And I might have
a comedy special coming around if you just keep your

(01:01:57):
peeper's peeled for that. But yeah, just you know, follow
me on this ride this year. I guess, well, We're
so happy for you. Congratulation, thank you, thanks so much,
and yeah, thank you for all the moments. I'll always
remember me taking my son to see you in New
York City and you yelling at him in the middle

(01:02:19):
of the show. He still talks about me so delighted.
But say what, absolutely just have to say it's one
of my favorite things. Is because I'm someone you know
who like um binges TV shows constantly. So every time
I'm like rewatching a sitcom from the early nineties early

(01:02:40):
two thousand's, randomly Alec MAPA's just like they're on my
sperie doing my best to get onto the television. It
was so fun to just be watching like classic Seinfeld
and all of a sudden there's Alec Mapa. Yeah, yeah,
You're everywhere everything we can. Well, we love you, Jinks,

(01:03:02):
thanks so much for joining us to have a great
risk of your day. But well, Lonnie Love, after all
that swapping back and forth, looks like we both made
the right decision to go with Jenks. Okay, I just
I do want to say out of fairness that you
you picked Jinks in the last episode you were with Trending,

(01:03:23):
But you know what, You're my pal. Okay, you came
on over to my side. We'll just we'll just go
together and have a manicure. Okay, Okay, it's very interitable.
I always love spending time with you. We'll have to
up the stakes for the next season we recap, I know,
you know, what I think we have to do is

(01:03:43):
like we have to cut off the episodes, like we
gotta do it like midway and say we can't change
after that. Oh oh, that would definitely up the stakes.
No switches, no switch times. Okay, God, but this sounds
really really good and we're just be for jinks. So
that's all that matters. You know, Lonnie, so much has

(01:04:05):
happened this season. Just so much has happened, between all
of the drama and all the costumes and all of
the fantastic drag we've seen. We're gonna do another show
next week that's all about our favorite moments of Drag
Race All Stars Season seven, And next week we might
even have a super special guest. I can't wait. It's

(01:04:29):
gonna Oh, it's gonna be so much fun. It's gonna
be so much fun. Now, listen, we love the queens
on this show so much, and we want to change
the culture of drag race fandom. If you love them,
show them love on social They go through so much
in order to get on the show. In order to
be on the show, they worked so hard. Be kind
and be loving to the queens on their social media's

(01:04:50):
