Speaker 1 (00:03):
What's good everybody. Welcome to the fifth Jordan Porter Podcast,
where it's time going. We are already in November. It
is Tuesday, November two thousand and twenty to The cold
weather is coming in. It is snowing currently right now
in Buffalo, New York. We're supposed to get I've heard
anywhere from twelve to eight inches, or from twelve to

(00:27):
eighteen inches to three to six ft. It's gonna be cold.
It's gonna be wet for the next couple of months.
Gotta embrace it. You gotta love it or trying to anyway,
Holy cow, it's cold. I don't like being cold. I
think I said that in my show early on in
the and then one of my earlier shows. I don't
like being cold, but it is what it is. Anytime

(00:50):
you usually see me on the sideline when I'm watching
the offense go to work, I'm usually next to the heaters.
I like to stay warm all the time. You know
my house during this time of year, I had my
house at about any five degrees all the time, the
fire on all the time. So, but it's gonna be
cold out here for the next couple of months, like
I said, might as well, embrace it. We got a

(01:11):
lot of stuff to talk about on today's podcast. Obviously,
not a big dub, not a big dub at all
this weekend, tough loss, Getting a little bit more of
what's it come though too? The big game this weekend
against Cleveland a factor cap stuff going on around the league. Man, Uh,
you got Stephen A. Smith thinking Mark Davis's quote Rome

(01:32):
wasn't building a day was the dumbest thing he's ever heard. Who,
I don't know what you think. Raiders are struggling right now,
trying to figure out what's going on, probably not playing
up to their standard. First talk about the loss, man,
that was it was heartbreaking. It was heartbreaking loss. Uh
was hard as being on the sideline and not being

(01:52):
able to do anything about it but try to coach
up the guys and and give them talk to him
about what you're seeing. But by far one of the
craziest games I've ever seen. Um and you know it
was obviously justin Jefferson and with a crazy catch, I mean,
damn yeahs telling the guys like look, man, uh, the

(02:17):
hop got one on me. Tradevious and Micael back in
the day. Man, you played a lot enough football stuff's
gonna happen. You know, I just learned from it and
move on. What a game though, man, just back and
forth really at the end, back and forth. Um, you know,
we'll get it in a little little bit later on.
But Mike, Mike has made one more play that we
did end up winning the game obviously, thirty three thirty

(02:39):
heartbreaking loss at home. Um. You always want to figure
out a way to win the home games. Um, But
nonetheless you get another opportunity, uh, this weekend, another opportunity
at home this weekend. We're excited about it. You gotta
get a bad taste out of my mouth, man. Um,
you know, and like I said, it's gonna be snowy,
it's gonna be cold. Um. Yeah, I mean it was

(03:03):
just a crazy turn of events, you know, all at
once in the game, you know, and um, and then
obviously you know, fourth and eight teen, Jepson Jefferson makes
a just miraculous play. Um. But even after that, you know,
Bills d stood up. Um had a chance to win
the game. Um. You know, and obviously you'll probably throw

(03:24):
Josh wants back. I know he wants back. But at
the end of the day, like I always say, every week. Man,
I'll go to I'll go to war with Josh the
day of the week, man, just the way he he
battled throughout that game. Um, with the with a torn
elbow being able to still throw the ball, run the ball,
run people, over, run through people, break tackles. I mean, dude,

(03:44):
just a gamer. It's football. Make mistakes and learn from
it and move on. And uh, that's the game though,
that's the NFL, that's the league. I mean, you guys
saw the game last night. I guess you guys will
be watching this couple days from now. But the you know,
the Eagles losing to to Washington. I mean, you know,
this is a week's week league, um, and you know
it's really Yeah, you can say this team is is

(04:07):
better than that team based off of statistics on paper
or whatnot, but you know, really, you gotta come ready
to play each and every week. And there's really no
there's no w's that you can circle ahead of time
in the league. You know, Um, guys that guys get
paid to Guys are good guys, have pride, guys. Um,

(04:27):
obviously that was a good football team. I'm more than
talking you know, I'm talking about the you know, Vikings
was good football team. But you know that nobody expected
Washington to go to Philly and beat Philly, you know,
and the fashion that they did, Holy cow. And yeah,
you can argue some calls here and there, but that's
the game. That's the game of football, especially in the
league that we play. You know, you gotta be able

(04:49):
to handle adversity. And and really you know they say
not not let one loss turn into two. You know,
well for the for this instance, yeah that happened. We
laws two A. But you know, we know we're a
good football team. We can get back on track. Um.
We got tough, tough football team coming into uh coming
to the Buffalo this weekend. In the Browns, you know,

(05:10):
Nick Chubbs running the ball extremely well. Things got leading
the league with eleven Russian touchdowns. Um, just an extremely
strong runner. Um, you know, low center gravity, you know,
just really strong. And then obviously you got Kareem Hunt.
You know, it's a it's a good football team. Um.
You know, and you know we're gonna to play well
to win. And obviously I didn't say it every week.

(05:32):
You know, you gotta started. It starts to practice. You know,
gotta have some good vibes when we did. We got
out today it was off day, but going into the
building and you know, it was good vibes, good vibes
around the building. You gotta keep that positive vibes. You know,
it's a long season. You know, you starting the end
of July. You know you're going to you know, you're
hoping to at least go to the middle of February.
That's a long long time, especially now a time, and

(05:54):
it's you know, the season and giving Thanksgiving here and
and and Christmas around the corner and starts to get
and cold and and you know it's the time. You
gotta stay positive, man, you gotta continue to have positive energy,
um and and and we will, we will. So I'm
excited about this weekend. I'm excited about you know, just
another opportunity. That's really all you can ask for, too,

(06:15):
Just another opportunity, especially to play at home in front
of our fans, um once again. And uh, you know,
we bounce back. I gotta I gotta know that with
my mind, bounce back. Elbow is getting better. I'm still
just you know, one day trying to take a day
by day. Man. It's uh, it's really frustrating. Um, you know,
I'm trying to play this week. Obviously, I'm trying to

(06:38):
play every day week. Shoot, I wanted to suit up
last weekend, the pre game. I'm out there with the boys. Man.
Just it's tough, you know, it's tough watching the games, um,
you know, but I want to be able to do
you know, what I'm asked to do on the field.
I want to be able to um, play at a
high level, UM and not worry about you know, other things,
you know, my elbow and so. But it's getting there.

(07:01):
It is, It is getting there, um to One's trying
to get back on the field soon. You never know.
We'll see, we'll see trying to be back out there
this weekend. We'll see. Let's get in some of our
Factor Cap segment, one of my favorite segments because and
I'll never tell my brother this to his face, but
I'm so glad that he made this. He made this
Factor Cap segment up. And I actually do like it,

(07:23):
um because I go into it. You know. You know,
obviously I read the quote at the beginning of our segment,
but that was her time I read it. So it's
kind of like I can go into these Factor Cap
and and kind of give you my opinion just straight
off the don't so um Stephen and Smith says Mark Davis,
the owner of the Raiders. He quoted Rome was not

(07:44):
built in a day, and she made Smith that was
said that was the dumbest thing he's ever heard. I mean,
I mean day, I mean, I feel like you can
said a lot of other things. Um, you know, I
feel like you've made a lot of moves that you
know that you would you would think that your team

(08:06):
is a little you know, I'm never here to clown
to the team or clowning to the player this side
of the other. And they've got some things going on
they're probably trying to figure out. And you know, I
can think, I say, that's cap Steaven. You know, I've
heard far worse things than the owner, you know, talking
about his team, you know, saying hey, you know we're

(08:26):
getting there, We're we're on the way. Um, And I
don't know what else you want him to say, you know,
I mean, yeah, I'm sure you know you understands his
team struggling, he wants to be better. But um, I
just had to say that was cap um factor Cap
on the Pat Macis Show, shout out. Pat um a

(08:47):
q Shipley says, the difference between winning and losing in
the NFL is so small, and I'm gonna off the
top say that's a fact. I think we all know
that's a fact. Um weird quotes being there, But anyways,
we can talk about it because when you think about
the league every week, you know it's really comes it's

(09:09):
it's damn never one score game every single game. So
every game is coming down to really the last possession
of the last plays of the game, the last couple
of players in the game. You saw the game last
night Eagles versus the Commanders come down to literally last player.
Quarterback rolls out its third down, quarterback rolls out, he
tries to keep the clock rolling, so he takes a

(09:30):
knee boom Eagles. Eagles might get the ball back there.
And then Brandon Graham comes around, and I'm Brandon Grant
has been the league a long time, like, there's no
way he would do this. First of all, that's a
great play by that quarterback hide Chy And I don't
know if he I knew. I think he had the
awareness to go down for the time to continue to run.

(09:55):
But I mean the way that it played out. I mean,
he looks brilliant. He looks brilliant going down and taking
and taking a knee on a rollout and getting hit
late causing a flag for automatic first down. You're able
to chop away at small clock. And you know, that's
what games come down to, literally the last places. It's
who's gonna make the last play, Who's gonna who's gonna

(10:18):
you know, they think about our game. Uh, game came
down to literally the last player the game, who's going
to make the last play? And um, in the margin
for air is so small, you know, and um, you
know you could talk about uh, you know, it's just
the margin for air is so small and so and

(10:38):
that's why I said, you gotta come ready to play
each and every week. It doesn't matter who you play.
It doesn't matter if you're playing the dang you know,
it doesn't It doesn't matter because you know, like I said,
guys have families. They take pride in there in there
and there in their craft. They take pride and and
and in their in their job and in their um
and they want to win and so um. But that

(11:00):
being said, though, you know, um, I've learned a lot
that when you do get ahead of teams in this league,
Like it's always a four quarter game. You know, teams
are not just gonna go go away because you're fourteen points,
you know your or twenty one points you know there.
It's like it's like the NBA. It's like you always
see in the NBA, if a team is blowing somebody

(11:22):
out the like the other team always makes a run.
There's always a run somewhere in the game to make
that comeback. And it's at that point, like what you know,
where either that run is is stopped or that run
continues to go and they make that final push to
get close in the fourth quarter to have a chance
to win the game. That's really what the NFL is

(11:44):
to you. Gotta understand like they're gonna you're up fourteen points,
you're up seventeen points like they look, they're gonna come
and you gotta make a stop, like you know, and
it's uh, the game is crazy, man. You learn so
much and you experience so much over the years and
now even being able to you know, been watching from
the sidelines over the last couple of games. I mean
obviously last I've been hurt four games, so I've been

(12:05):
able to see it, you know, different differently from the sidelines.
So you know, it's the margin fair is so small
and you gotta be so detailed and you work and uh,
and you know that's the league. That's what the league is, man.
And you know, you win, you lose and uh, you know,
and even that sometimes like you when you lose, you
gotta learn from both of them. And so sometimes and

(12:27):
you in the game, you could you could play well
and lose, you know, or you could what's what what
what am I trying to say? You could you can
have you could win the game. And sometimes in the league,
I promise you, sometimes you've won a game and it
almost just felt like you lost the game just because
you you didn't play as well as as you know
you could have. And so that's happened plenty of times,

(12:49):
you know. And so there's time games where you lose
a game where damn like, we played damn good, but
you lost, and that's the league, like, and that's just
being able to overcome that, being able to continue to
move on and just see what happens at the end.
You know, you gotta you just gotta take it one
day at a time, you know, one day at a
time and take advantage of every Sunday that you get
an opportunity to step on that football field. And so

(13:11):
UM I do. I agree as major fact, Aku Shipley
Uh never met you, but as a as a fact
Mafia questions is hopping a couple of Mafia questions that
we got from Christian mac Chenzi. Question is j Poe.
We've heard the talk around that Micah and you would

(13:32):
make a great coach after he after he retires. You
mentioned that an NFL coach probably wouldn't be your thing
many years down the road when you retire from Buffalo.
At what we did you do when I retire from Buffalo?
That's a good one. Um, we'll see, Um what I
wanna do? Look, coaching just sounds coaching just sounds like

(13:57):
it's just a lot of work, and like I feel
like I would have so much it's to just get
out there and play. They're like, I don't know if
I can mentally do that, but I thought about Obviously,
I want to continue doing the podcast. I want to
continue to spread you know, my journey and my positively

(14:18):
through UM through the others. I'm gonna continue to speak
at schools and speak at eight groups. You know about
my alcoholic journey of sobriety journey, and and you know,
I definitely want to take some time away from the game.
And you know, enjoy being a dad, enjoy being a husband,
and not that I don't right now, but you know
you've spend so much time away from your family during

(14:39):
the season. You know, it's hard to uh, you know,
it's hard to get in a rhythm of you know,
during the season of of of all of that, you know,
and um, you know I'm retirements down the road. Um.
Not thinking about it too soon, anytime soon, because I
still feel like I can play another five years in
this league. Um. But coaching, I'm sure some coach coach

(15:03):
down the road or hit me up and say, j PO,
you know you come over here and help the safeties out,
all right, Jacob? He asked, how much different is it
than playing Is it playing a home game versus playing
away games? To travel the fans of mindset, Um, home
games are. Home games can be stressful sometimes when you
get uh, you're a lot of family in town, you

(15:24):
get uh. Um, But you know I love home games
because you do get to see the family. Someone's family
comes to time that you gotta balance. It's a lot
of balance being able to you know, balance obviously your family,
but obviously you gotta you know, play in a in
a football game and and play well too, you know,
because you always sucks when you play like crap and

(15:45):
you come home and the family is like, oh, the
game was fun. You know you didn't you know deep
down like family knows like, damn, he's piste off. He
didn't play that well. So um, But balancing it, you know,
I love when the family comes out here. It's always fun.
But the way games is kind of the opposite. You know,
you're able to kind of decompress on the flight, you know,
and decompress in the hotel room. I don't really go

(16:07):
anywhere on on road trips like food, going to food
or anything like that. I just kind of stay locked
up in my hotel room and and and just kind
of think about the game. And that's that goes right
after the game too. Even after the game. I enjoyed
just kind of decompressing and and kind of winding down win,
loss or draw. Um. But you know, that's that's bainly.
The biggest difference is is you know, just being able

(16:30):
to balance. You know, home games, you know everybody's coming
out and always excited to just watch you play football. Um,
you want to talk about the game before and after
the game, you know what do you? You know who's playing,
who's doing this, who's you know, what happened here? And
sometimes you just like, oh my gosh, it's like I
just want to play a game, you know, But no,
I love it. Thank you everybody for tuning into the

(16:51):
fifth Jordan Poor Podcast. I really appreciate everyone always joining
me week weekend and week out. We will come back
next week next Tuesday with the other Jordan Porter podcast,
hopefully off of a big dub trying to get out there.
We'll see to one trying to get out on the
field of I promise you until next time, we'll see
you that
