Speaker 1 (00:02):
What's good everybody. Welcome to the fourteenth episode of the
Jordan Porter Podcast. My brother's birthday was yesterday. Happy birthday, Bro. Obviously,
coming off a tough, tough l Bills lose to the Bengal.
Gotta ask beat man. Ain't no other way around it.
I gotta ask beat them boys came in and they

(00:23):
beat our ass. That's just playing and simple. Got down
fourteen zero early. Anytime in the league you get down
to scores, especially it's a good football team, it's tough
tough to come back playing that Bangal's offense. You know,
I will say this, Joe Burrow is probably, you know,
the closest thing that I've gone against to a a

(00:45):
Tom Brady aura or or swagger or not. It's time.
Don't got a whold lot of swagger. I'm hold on
time out. First of all, we're speaking about Tom. A
lot of y'all took what I said last week out
of context when I told Tom to go home and
be with his kids, like Tom's a bad father. I

(01:07):
think Tom's a great father, a father that I actually
look up to um as not just that he's somebody
who I look up to as a father and as
a football player as a sixth round pick who worked
his way to winning seven Super Bowls and be becoming
one of the greatest quarterback to ever play the game.
So don't get it twisted. I have the most respect
for Tom. My whole thing was I'm tired of playing Tom.

(01:31):
So Tom, yes, I'll say it again, I'm tired of
playing you because I'm old and the leaving against you.
Please go home and be with your kids. That was
my point. Anyways, Tom's a great father, great obviously player,
and again someone who I have looked up to for
the longest time. I don't want to set our stories
are somewhere because I don't have one Super Bowl ring.

(01:53):
But he is a sixth round pick. I'm the seventh
round pick, and he kind of just you know, made us,
just dug his way to the top, you know, just
kept digging his way to the top and became the
greatest quarterback to ever play the game. And you know,
I would love for Tom to go home and be
with his kids, because I am Oh and Levin against
Tom Brady two picks though one for a touchdown, but

(02:14):
oh I love it. So Joe Burrow, the closest thing
I've seen to a Tom Brady, A Tom Brady, Aura,
it is what it is. Man. You look back in
the season, thirteen wins, three losses. You know, if you
were to ever, you know, talk to me ten years
ago and say, hey, you know, one season you'll have

(02:34):
you know, thirteen wins and win the division. Um and
have a chance to play to home playoff games. Um,
I would have told you crazy. Uh to keep it real, Um,
this league is hard, man. The team we had, I
mean I felt like we had enough to do it, honestly,
you know, just people you know saying round the gags.

(02:55):
This had all the you know, I could have had,
a could have all the excuses in the world. You know,
I had a lot of happened throughout the season. At
the end of the day, we did not get it done.
Did not get it done. It's frustrating to go out
like that. Um it's tough, you know, it's it's super tough.
But you know, I appreciate all my teammates for one. Man,
those those are the guys that I that I do

(03:15):
it for so many people to appreciate throughout you know,
obviously my family, UM, my wife, my daughter, always super
supportive no matter the circumstances. You know, my teammates, my coaches,
and fans. Um, you guys put up put up with
a lot. You know, you have put up with a
lot over the last twenty thirty years. You know, Bills
just haven't been able to win the big one. And

(03:36):
then it is frustrating, and you know you want it
so bad for for y'all and the organization, and you
know you fall short. That's the game, that's life. You
live it, you learn from it, and and you just
continue to move on. I think there's been one season
in my entire career where I didn't feel like absolute
ship at the end of the season, and that was

(03:58):
my serior in high school and we won the State Idol,
lost in the Vegas Bowl, lost in the Alamo Bowl.
When I was uh senior in college. I mean, I
haven't won a Super Bowl. Um, there's really only one
team at the end of the season that gets to
be happy. Um. Everybody else goes off, goes in the offseason,
piste off, frustrated. That's the game. That's the game you play. Um,

(04:18):
It's a game you love, it's a game you're a
fan of, and you just you move on. For me,
It was especially probably the hardest year I think I've
ever had to go through, just dealing with injuries. My
boy Michael goes down. Him and I have built such
a connection over the years. When either one of us
goes down, you know, it puts a lot on the
other one's play, you know. And it was tough, man,

(04:40):
It was tough. But I was fortunate enough to have
him continued. You know, after he went down. You know,
he could have gone home, Um, he could have rehabbed
and you know, with his beautiful family in California. But
he wanted to be there for the guys. He wanted
to be there for me. He made a comment and
one of his uh and one of his media days
said there was more post shoulder this year than any
other year us being there. To be honest, I feel

(05:03):
like I let him down. You know. I always feel
like pressure bills diamonds, and I always feel like I
want the pressure. I want to I want the challenge.
I want to you know, the situation. I want to
prove you know that I can handle it. And I
feel like I did, you know, especially playing through injury,
you know, to second part. To be honest, I feel
like I let him down. Ain't no way, Bro, Ain't

(05:23):
no way, Michael, and I feel I told you this, bro,
Ain't no way. If anything, Bro, you helped me get
through the season, and you you motivated me and and
you inspired me. Um. Just about you being there, you know,
talking ball with me. Uh, you know, late late nights
on Wednesdays and Thursdays, we're in there, you know, trying
to get stuff changed out of the game plan that

(05:44):
we didn't like. Man, and you help me get through it. Bro. Um.
So I appreciate you and two three and two one
always Man best in the world forever. Man. Ain't nobody
can take away what we did out there in Buffalo.
To line up with you again, that'd be something else. Man,
be crazy to one to three back again. We'll see, Man.
You know, I love you, Dog. You know that. I'm
excited for the off time now. I'm excited to get

(06:06):
my body right. I'm excited for free agency. This is
the first time I'm really a free agent in the
off season, and I'm excited about that. And then and
you know, I don't know what's gonna happen, you know.
Would I love to go back to Buffalo, of course,
But at the end of the day, I'm excited about
this free agency process. I'm excited too, you know, for

(06:28):
the future. Um, I still feel like I have, you know,
three solid four years left to play, and you know,
I get my shoot, just get I get my body healthy.
Give me a month to get my body healthy, and
I'll be right back into this thing. You know. My
elbows starting to feel a lot better, needs starting to
feel a lot better, you know, just taking one day
at a time. But I am. I am excited about

(06:50):
free agency. Man. Like I said, I don't know what's
gonna happen, but it's my first time testing the waters.
Something new is always exciting and who knows, you know,
Like I said, I would love to you know, I
would love to finish my career in Buffalo and play
with those guys forever. I love that organization. I love Buffalo,
Love the fans of my teammates, I love my neighbors,

(07:10):
love everybody out there in Buffalo. But I'm excited about
this process. I'm excited to see, you know, what else
is in store out there for me and what the
next chapter for for Jordan Poyer is. You know, I
feel like I gave Buffalo, you know, the best version
of myself. I grew over the years. You know, Seaen.
When I got to Buffalo, you know, I was kind
of lost, uh, you know, lost in the world, really

(07:32):
unsure of a lot of things. UM, unsure of myself,
unsure of my career. You know, obviously a lot of
people under understanding. And I've heard my my alcohol story. Buffalo.
You you picked me up, you embraced me. Um, you
didn't look at me any different, and I appreciate that.
You know, from the bottom of my heart. I was
able to grow and grow up in Buffalo, and it

(07:52):
still goal is left to be made. I still, like
I said, I want to continue to take one day
to the time and continue to grow. If this was it,
you know, Buffalo, you ship, You're always gonna have a
place in my heart. And if we running back, running back,
you already know what's good. And we're gonna go into
a little bit of the all season. As you can see,
I'm down here my beautiful home in South Florida. UM,
still a little bit more work to do in my

(08:14):
game room. This is my game room slash podcast room.
And now that I'm doing a podcast, so um, I
will sup it up a little bit, I will get
it going. But in the meantime, I have a lot
of really cool all season plans I'm excited about. I'm
heading to the Pro Bowl, going to Vegas on Tuesday.
I'm excited. I got some teammates went out there, Milano Digs,

(08:36):
Mitch Morris, Josh Um. I'm just I'm excited for the experience.
What I'm looking forward to most about the Pro Bowl
just meeting everybody. Man. Look, you know, you see a
lot of guys on TV. You see you know, you
see the game, and you respect their game and to
be able to, you know, go shake their hand and
you know, chop it up with them a little bit.
You know, I haven't been to Vegas and forever. Obviously

(08:57):
I don't drink, so I'm going bring my clubs and
see how how good My golf game is probably pretty
sloppy right now, so I can't remember the last time
I was out and about just you know, being seen
around the places. So I'm excited. Um. After that, we
are headed to the Super Bowl in Arizona. Gonna do
a lot of media stuff out there, trying to get

(09:17):
my face out there a lot more. You know. My
wife tells me, I need to be more on social media.
I'm not a big social media guy, you know. Uh,
you know, I really wasn't even a big podcast guy
until you know, I kind of got talked into it
and I started liking it. You know, I started enjoying
coming on here and talking to you guys. And plus
I'm getting I don't know, a four thousand, five thousand views,
so obviously some of y'all liking what I'm talking about.

(09:38):
So it's fun. I enjoy it. So we will be
coming with some offseason fire on the podcast down here
in South Vorda, So a lot of athletes down here
that I can get onto the podcast. But yeah, other
than that, you know, big offseason plans, you know, free agency.
Like I said, I'm excited for for free agency. It's
right around the corner. Not serious actly how it's gonna

(09:58):
play out, but I'm a mixed I did and about
the process. Um, however that process is, Like I said,
this is my first time in the free agency process,
so um, you know, see how it plays out. We
got a great, great representative who knows what he's doing,
has been doing it for a long time. And you know,
plus I'm a boiler. So I know some team out
there gonna want to one on the field. I might
not be too one anymore. I know something's gonna want

(10:20):
Jordan Poyor out there on the field, and you know
I'll be ready to play. Yeah. So I'm excited to
introduce my My new segment that we will be starting
next week is called Pick six. So we'll be picking
six the hottest topics around the league, around the sports league. UM,
and we'll be chopping it up about him, and I'll
give you all my opinion. Y'all can give me your

(10:41):
opinion in the comments and we'll see if we agree disagree, um,
and we'll have you know, we can have healthy conversations
come from it and maybe long down a live we'll
get too stuff. I have to see with my producers
if it's all right. We're getting stuff other than sports. UM.
I do like to talk stuff other than sports, not
all the time, so it's uh so it's it kind
of keep a little balance, you know, sports can get

(11:02):
a little uh. I don't want to stay dead, but
you know it's football season is almost over. You know,
nobody likes like saying nobody. You know, NBA season is
you know they doesn't get fun unto the playoffs. You know,
baseball season. You know how many people are gonna sit
around and watching nine in the game on TV. Golf
is on. Usually fall asleep watching golf on TV. But

(11:24):
now there's a lot of stuff going on in the
world I would love to talk about. I love to
get a lot of you guys opinions on and uh,
you know, see if we can change the world one
one podcast at the time. Uh. In the meantime, I
appreciate you guys for tuning in. This was the fourteenth
episode of the Jordan Porter podcast. You guys tune in
next week, and I might be in Vegas next week.

(11:47):
Uh so the podcast might get delayed a little bit.
We'll see if we can get something done in Vegas.
Maybe a short little snippet till then. The guys, I
appreciate it. Like I said, we'll see you next time.
