What's up, everybody. I'm David Grub and it's time for
another edition of Classic Kids on the MLB Bro Show
podcast the Mixtape. Today we're talking about one of the
most durable and well traveled pitchers in Major League Baseball history.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
Edwin Jackson is.

Speaker 6 (03:32):
The very definition of a journeyman. Born in Germany, the
hurler was drafted in the sixth round of the two
thousand and one MLB Draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers
after a stellar career for Shaw High School in Columbus, Georgia.
Making his big league debut at the age of just nineteen,
he jack struggled to find his way with the Doctors,
going six and five over three seasons. LA traded him
to Temple, with Jackson finally having a breakthrough season in

(03:54):
two thousand and eight, posting fourteen wins for the Raids.
His best individual season came the following year. Now with
the Detroit Tigers, Edwin Jackson made his first and only
All Star team in two thousand and nine and finished
the season with a thirteen to nine record and three
point six to two Earnwright average with more than two
hundred innings pitched. That wasn't enough for the Tigers to
keep him, as Jackson moved on again and again and again.

(04:17):
First he ended up Saint Louis after being traded by
the White Sox and was just in time to help
the Cardinals win their eleventh World Series championship in twenty eleven.
Jackson would continue to move throughout the Major serving as
a dependable back of the rotation starter capable of eating
innings when needed. Jackson would continue to move throughout the

capable of eating innings whenever needed. In twenty nineteen, Edwin

(04:39):
Jackson etched his name in the history books when he
took the mound for the Toronto Blue Jays facing the
San Francisco Giants, becoming the first player in Major League
Baseball history to play for fourteen different teams. Jackson returned
to the Motor City to end his career, finishing with
one hundred and seven wins, reaching the postseason three times
and appearing in two World Series. Edward Jackson a cy

(05:00):
Young or any notable individual awards, but he carved out
a lasting career by being a pros pro.

Speaker 7 (05:06):
And a teammates teammate.

Speaker 6 (05:07):
I'm David Grubb and this has been classic hits. Now
back to the mix.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
Going Deep with og Margray.

Speaker 8 (05:22):
Managers make the big bucks, get credit for success and
face the blame when the team wins the losers. However,
coaches that work with players every day are the ones
that are grooming the stars of today and tomorrow.

Speaker 9 (05:36):
So what's the deal.

Speaker 8 (05:38):
It's the boy, the MLBO G Mark Gray and I'm going.

Speaker 10 (05:41):
Deep for the mixtape.

Speaker 8 (05:43):
Minnesota Twins' third base coach Tommy Watkins is the outfield
guru somewhere near the waters of Lake Minnetonka and has
had a major impact on a career of players like
Byron Buxton. His positive energy and smooth personality helps Calhoun
stay in tune with a new generation that I think.

Speaker 11 (06:01):
It's starting to be cool again, and you know, they say,
let the kids play. They're starting to see guys have fun,
and I should encourage young people to play more.

Speaker 8 (06:10):
Watkins founded the Tommy Watkins Foundation, who, according to the
websites mission, is dedicated to providing social, athletic, educational, and
scholarship opportunities for youth in need in his hometown of
Fort Myers, Florida, where he's trying to give us a
chance for a new era of players who will someday

(06:31):
make it to the show.

Speaker 11 (06:33):
I just I created it just to get back to
my community where I was born and raised, or any
community that I'm a part of, like Minneapolis.

Speaker 8 (06:42):
After seeing baseball lose it's cool with younger bros, the
Twins third base coach now sees a game where speed
and athleticism is resonating with a new generation like a
diggable planets.

Speaker 9 (06:55):
Track probably took.

Speaker 11 (06:56):
A step back from being cool, but I think you're
starting to see it again, especially with the speed in
the game off the games being quicker and just the
distilling of the bases.

Speaker 9 (07:06):
And stuff like that.

Speaker 11 (07:07):
I think it's starting to be cool to get.

Speaker 8 (07:09):
For more information on Tommy's Foundation, log on to Tommy
Watkins dot org. That's Tommy Watkins dot org common spelling.

Speaker 9 (07:18):
It's the m l B O.

Speaker 8 (07:19):

According in to the regular season, this weekend's full of
exciting series al since your division matchup Minnesota Twins at
the Cleveland Guardians starting at seventeen pm Eastern times. The
Guardians dominated the run the World Series champs Sexton Rangers
in the last series fourteen runs in the first two
games combined. Josh Standers had a strong season so far,

(12:03):
watching the fifty three at best twelve home runs, thirty
three RBI, two sixty one bat average with an eight
to ninety nine oh ps tied for second to third
home runs in RBI in the American League, and the
Guardians are sitting with the second best record in the
American League. Next, you have the Washington Nationals at the
Philadelphia Phillies six forty pm Eastern Time, A very tough
matchup for shortstop CJ Abrams Internationals. The Phillies are sitting

(12:27):
with the number one record in the MLB, a team
that can get a lot of contact on the ball
and has great pitching. CJ on the season has forty
one hits, seven home runs, twenty RBI with a two
sixty one bat average. Abrams will be put to the
test this series. There's a ton of plays we made,
and with an athlete like Abrams, I mean there's a
many anticipated Top ten highlights. Last, you have New York

(12:48):
Yankees versus Chicago White Sox. White Sox play up to
their competition despite the record, and the Yankees are a
very good baseball team.

Speaker 2 (12:56):
Aaron Jeff scored.

Speaker 14 (12:57):
A run nine of the last eleven games, went four

electric last fifteen games fifty two at best, eighteen hit,
twelve runs, eleven RBI and three forty.

Speaker 2 (13:10):

Speaker 14 (13:12):

Speaker 2 (15:36):
What's up everybody?

Speaker 15 (15:37):
This is justin Patrullie with the Black Age Report on
the MLB bro Show podcast mixtape. Here's where you get
the latest on the melanated Mountain marauders who shoveling with
precision and popping out all across the big leagues. So
let's check the report. Fly Time Walker has got himself
a winning streak.

Speaker 8 (15:53):
Time one.

Speaker 15 (15:53):
Walker won his third consecutive start when he was given
him not on May eleventh, in Miami versus the Marlins.
He gave up only one run on eight hits over
six eighth pitch. He brought his ERA down to four
point eight two and looks to pick up his fourth
consecutive win for the hottest team in baseball in the Phillies.
He scheduled to go on May sixteenth against his former

(16:13):
club and now arch rival, the New York Mets. TODs
Bradley made his twenty twenty four debut on May tenth
against the Yankees and looked like he hadn't missed a beat.
He won seven innings, giving up four hits and one
run while fanning seven. Unfortunately, he picked up the loss
because the Race offense couldn't score a run the entire game. However,
in his second start on May fifteenth, he earned his

(16:36):
first win of the season in Boston against the Red Sox,
going five innings, allowing two runs on four hits and
striking out six. Hunter Green pitched twice over the past week,
earning his second win of the season on May fourteenth
in Arizona versus the Diamondbacks, when he went seven innings
allowing five hits two runs to five strikeouts. He also
pitched May ninth against the Diamondbacks as well, but he

(16:57):
only went five innings and did not earn a decision to.

Speaker 12 (17:00):
Going deep Bride Dames s Green.

Speaker 15 (17:01):
His gats a solid three.

Speaker 2 (17:03):
Point two seven today Lots of run Sports.

Speaker 15 (17:06):
Marcus Stroman took him out on both May ninth and
May fifteenth. His May ninth appearance was in the Bronx
versus the Astros, and he ended up getting the loss,
going five and two thirds innings on nine hits and
four armed runs. He managed to bounce back in a
big way on the fifteenth when he dominated against the
Twins in Minneapolis, when he only allowed two hits on
six innings pitch, earning his third win of the year.

(17:27):
Blackjack Flarerty's now owing three to start his career in
Detroit after picking up the loss on Mother's Day May
twelfth versus the Astros. Nonetheless, his outing wasn't bad, going
six innings and only allowing three earned bruns while striking
out seven. Flarity is off to a sizzling start with
the strikeouts at sixty three total, good for third most in.

Speaker 2 (17:46):
The Al Detroit Tigers Kneed black.

Speaker 15 (17:48):
Jemis Jordan Hicks had a respectable outing against one of
the best teams in baseball, the Los Angeles Dodgers, when
he went up against them on May thirteenth at Oracle Park.
He managed to go five innings, allowing seven hits and
two earned runs. Doctor Black a support for this week.
This is JP the rook now back to the mix.

Speaker 2 (18:10):
Or wings opous a plus Baseball is a game of status.
I'm se basketball and I'm the numbers man.

Speaker 7 (18:19):
No. Jack Flaherty has found himself on his third team
in just under a year, but these changes in the
scenery have not slowed him down at all. With an
electric start to the twenty twenty four season, we might
be seeing the best version of him that we have
ever seen. On the surface, a three point eight eight
era for Flaherty may not seem like the best thing
in the world. However, he is performing at an elite level.

(18:43):
He is managing to strike out an astounding thirty two
point five percent of batters he faces while walking only
a measly three point one percent of battersy faces, which
are both standout career best for him. These elite strikeout
and walk numbers combined for a great fielding independent pitching
of two point ninety seven but this is even with
him being unlucky with home runs allowed so far this year.

(19:05):
His expected fielding independent pitching is even lower at just
two point one four. His skill Interactive e R is
as low as two point twenty nine, while he's expected
e R is three point zero two, which all in
all shows how unlucky Flarity has been to start the year.
It will be no surprise to see this luck turn
throughout the year, and with these perper stats being nothing

(19:27):
short of elite, Clarity could emerge as one of the
best pitchers in the American League.

Speaker 2 (19:32):
Four wings ovious A plus. Baseball is a game of stats.
I'm se Basketball and I'm the numbers man. Ryan keep firing,
You're really the best best.

Speaker 10 (19:48):
This is your man, Ryan, Home from mlbbro dot Com,
coming at you with Ryan's rating. Out from the Clubhouse,
where I'll pick three winners for this weekend in Major League.

Speaker 2 (19:57):
Baseball, Ryan keep siren.

Speaker 10 (20:00):
Our first matchup takes us to Los Angeles, California Chavez Ravine,
where we have the Los Angeles Dodgers taken on the
Cincinnati Reds on Friday. This matchup features Bros Mookie Betts
and the Unicorns. Soho hey Otani. Both are having a
great season balling for MVP. Both are batting respectively three
fifty four and then three forty one for the Dodgers.
This matchup will have Frankie Montees versus James Paxton. Montes

(20:24):
has really been struggling of late. I think that trend
continues as the Dodgers jump out early against the Reds
and cruise to a victory Friday.

Speaker 2 (20:32):
Night in La why Keith siring.

Speaker 10 (20:35):
Our next matchup takes us to Arlington, Texas on Saturday,
where we have the Texas Rangers versus the Los Angeles Angels.
This matchup features Bros Joe Adale the Angels and Marcus
Simeon of the Texas Rangers. Both teams have been inconsistent
of late, but looked for the Rangers to win in
the battle. A lot of runs being scored here, and
I think the Angels bullpen blows another lead and the Rangers.

Speaker 2 (20:59):
Cruise to a vict Ryant keep firing.

Speaker 10 (21:02):
Our last matchup takes us to the Bay Area, San
Francisco on Sunday, where we have the San Francisco Giants
versus the Colorado Rockies. This matchup features Rowse Jordan Hicks,
who has a two point four era, but his last
two outings haven't been that great. I think he bounces
back this Sunday and they take Colorado to school. Kicks
controls the bomb and the Giants roll La mott Way, Junior,

(21:26):
Tayostrada and the rest of the crew get it done
at home in the Bay as the Giants come away
with the victory on.

Speaker 2 (21:32):
Sunday, Ryant keep firing. You're really the best bet Keith
and Rational.

Speaker 10 (21:39):

This is how we do.

Speaker 16 (24:35):
Like pay dude, the sassy day, the that's the blessed.
There's nothing all save the.

Speaker 12 (24:54):
Gambler is a foul affair to say that. I feel
the Tommy fan. It's a game changer that we need
to give a little bit more respect too, fed there's
no coincidence here. Tommy Fam is the man. After going
two for four and a two nothing win over the
Nationals on Wednesday, Fam lifted his batting average to three nineteen,

(25:17):
with two home runs, ten rbi and ten runs scored
in his last eighteen games. And guess what the White
Sox are eleven and eight in the past nineteen games
after starting the season three and twenty two, lifting the
team's record to fourteen and thirty as of Wednesday. It's
a clear indication of the Tommy Fam effect. So Fam

(25:40):
is doing what he's done throughout his career. He impacts winnings.
Last season, Tommy Fam wasn't the sexiest trade deadline acquisition,
but he proved to be the most impactful piece to
an Arizona Diamondbacks team that went to the World Series.
His first week with the team, Fam hit three fifth
with six RBI and a homer and never looked back.

(26:03):
Fam provided consistency in the middle of a young lineup
and drove in twenty four runs in his first thirty
two games played. Arizona became a different team and slayed
some of baseball supposed juggernauts en route to the World Series.
Fam is a run producer who can grind out at
bats and as far as pressure goes, he doesn't feel it.

(26:24):
He's made for it. He hit two seventy nine with
three home runs and a point seven to seven to
two ops during last year's playoffs, earning a spot in
Arizona's starting lineup in sixteen of their last seventeen crucial games,
and the White Sox, who were downtrodden and ready to
tank this season of finding out why Fam is one

(26:44):
of the must have veterans in the game. Fam is
always able to take his team up another notch, whether
it be in the playoffs or a scuffling team that
wants to give up, he won't let it happen. Fam
is a three thirteen hitter with thirty six hits, six
home run, TENRBI and fifteen runs in thirty one postseason games.

(27:06):
Everywhere Fam goes, they quickly find out he's needed in
the lineup. Now back to the mix, key, why an't
you kicking up dust on the umping again this week?

Speaker 10 (27:21):
Come on?

Speaker 17 (27:22):
Now, you knew it was just a matter of time
before Aaron Judge would join in on this success the
Yankees have had, and then Aaron Judge would start hitting again.
People are like ay betting two thirty was heard last year.

Speaker 2 (27:38):
Was wrong with Aaron Judge? Nothing's wrong with Aaron Judge.

Speaker 17 (27:43):
On Thursday, he had two more hits that gave him
six hits in his last seven at bats. He's did
in four straight games and guess what he's nine for
his last fifteen. That's a six hundred batting average that
is going into Friday's action. Yes, Aaron Judge is back. Yes,

(28:06):
Aaron Judge is white hot. Yes, Aaron Judge will help
lead the Yankees right where we thought they would be,
which is first place in the American League East. Relax,
Yankee fans, Judge is back.

Speaker 16 (28:29):
My grand.

Speaker 12 (28:33):
Baseball. We've been in love for as long as I
can remember the highs and Lowell's home runs and errors.
But do it all the haters, jealous types, We never
ever broke up, step up?

Speaker 2 (28:51):

Speaker 2 (29:22):
Traction winning action.

Speaker 12 (29:23):
I know we dedicated to the same game in a
different fashion. We do it from the heart, not to
cash in class A to the caption of an MLB fashion,
We fright for the players alliance, no matter where they batter.
The project housing to one of the twenty five thousands
to make a millions don't forget all the children, don't.

Speaker 2 (29:41):
Regret on the buildings or the stories we covered.

Speaker 12 (29:43):
All the players we big up with ESPN will smothered.
So Rob Parker called Gambler the nail to the Hamdoffs.
That started an MLB team that shines like the lantern.
So we started recruiting, started recording, executing game plans that
have no news in black baseball music. We just happen
to be the author and that we have players and
founding fathers, the style and the music to got in

(30:04):
the movement from the gloss of the creeks wide it's
cool with so yeah, we are new ship, but it's
all inclusive, moving to the gaps of the segregated because
of the true licks from the pods.

Speaker 10 (30:13):
Better straight to the robbers.

Speaker 2 (30:41):
