Speaker 1 (00:00):
You know. The NBA playoff action is fantastic.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
It was so fantastic because I watched Anthony Edwards in
the Minnesota Timberwolves put cuffs on.

Speaker 3 (00:08):
A reigning defending NBA champion DEPN Nuggets. I said, y'all, y'all,
Minnesota is gonna win it all.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
And then I watched it Gildis Alexander and Jayden Williams
in the crew go up against Dallas last night and
hold Luca don Chick in check. And I said, damn,
it's Minnesota, Oklahoma City, Spnnesota, Okahoma City.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
If you love basketball, you.

Speaker 1 (00:38):
Gotta love this.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
I won't speak negatively about the impact that I'll have

(01:45):
Second Chances and First Takes, now in paperback.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
By the way, just go to straight Shooter.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
Book dot com to get your copy. Once again, that
straight Shooter book dot Com for a copy in paperback.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
All right, that's the way to go. Let me get
right to the NBA.

Speaker 2 (02:01):
I got a lot of stuff to do before I
got to travel out of town yet again.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
And there's some stuff to get into. First order of
businesses to.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
Start with the Minnesota Timberwolves, who've got the number one
defense in the league and now a four time Defensive
Player of the Year award winning in Rudy Go Bear
since it was announced last night that he had won.

Speaker 1 (02:18):
Indeed, Defensive Player of the Year.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
They're up to and zero in this Western Conference Simm's
matchup against the reigning defending world champion Denver Nuggets, led
by twenty two year old Anthony Edwards, the t Wolves
are ready to put the rest of the playoffs under
lock and key. And I'm not I don't believe I'm
exaggerating or engaging in ourperberly when I say that. When
you look at ja N McDaniels, when you look at
nas Reed, when you look at Anthony Edwards, when you
look at cal Anthony Towns without Rudy go Bear on

(02:42):
the basketball court, because Rudy Gobert was with us fiance
who was giving birth to their child. The Minnesota Timberwolves
ran the Denver Nuggets out their own damn building. They
were kicking denvers as so bad. Jamal Murray, a class personified,
a closer, a winner, a champion, became very very uncharacteristic,

(03:06):
first throwing a towel towards the officiating and then after
that literally throwing a heating pad on the court that
Carl Anthony Towns actually stepped on. You don't know what
could have happened to him. It is a miracle that
Jamal Murray was not suspended for tonight's Game three. It's
a miracle because he should have been. Now, I'm not
advocating for it. I'm not wishing for it. I thought

(03:27):
Russell Westbrook should have gotten suspended in Game three of
the Dallas series the way that he acted. I don't
apologize for that to a damn soul. I meant that
shit I said.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
I meant it. When I said it, I mean it now.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
Even though again, I didn't call the league office to
ask why he wasn't suspended or to have him suspended. Rather,
I worked for NBA Countdown, and I had to ask
the question because I was asked to ask the question.
But that's neither him nor dead. In the case of
Jamal Murray, I didn't want this man suspended. I wanted
this man for game thing. By the way, I spoke
to the League office about his non suspension as well, Okay,

(04:01):
the official said, had they seen it, he would have
been immediately injected.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
They would have dealt with it.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
But in the after math of that, Adam Silver decided
not to suspend him.

Speaker 1 (04:08):
And that's fine. That's fine.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
I think that Adam Silver a great Commission, who's done
a great job, opens himself up to criticism because you're
gonna join the comparisons between him and his predecessor of
the late great David Stern, who would have suspended Jamal
Murray in a nanosecond, and we all know that. But
Adam Silver's a bit different, and it's the playoffs, and
he doesn't want the playoffs deciding suspension by the officials

(04:32):
deciding the series, even though that ain't what he did
for Lebron James when he gave Lebron and the Cleveland
Cavaliers that stimulus package known as the suspension that Draymond
Green after Game four that series when Golden State had
gone up three to one in Cleveland and Draymond gets suspended,
and then after that Andrew Bogan and Andrea Guadala gets

(04:52):
hurt during the game that Draymond was suspended, and the
Cleveland Cavaliers ultimately come back and win the series and
erase the fifty two year old curse in the city
of Leaving for his sports franchises, they couldn't win a championship,
But I digress any end. What it comes down to
is this with Jamal Murray, He's gonna play tonight. And
you know what, the way the Minnesota Timberwolves looked, particularly

(05:13):
in that first half against the Denver Nuggets, it's almost
as if they called the league and said, don't suspend them,
let him stay on the course so we could kick his.

Speaker 1 (05:21):
Ass some more. That's how ferocious their defense was. These
brothers got height, they got sized, they got.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
They quick afoot, they're tenacious. They go after it at
every freaking position. These brothers in Minnesota are no joke.
And when you consider that they're led by a twenty
two year old superstar and Anthony Edwards. When you combine
that with the fact that Carl Anthony Towns make sure
he dropped twenty seven. When you look at the nads

(05:52):
Read and the McDaniels, and an Alexander Walker and a
Conley junior, and these boys even slow mow himself. Okay, well,
what he brings to the table. I could have believed
the clamps that I saw Minnesota put down on the
Deffer Nuggs. I ain't seen defense like that in thirty years.
I ain't seen defense like that since the Chicago Bulls,

(06:13):
led by Jordan Robin and Pippen went after the Orlando
Magic in Game one of the Eastern Conference Finals series,
when Shaq and Nick Anderson and Penny Hardaway and those
boys were on the court and they were damn there
scared to dribble the ball pass half court. They were
that scared because Jordan and them were in them defensively.
And Nick Anderson, who had had two steals against Jordan
and basically was perceived as being somebody that stopped him

(06:34):
and embarrassed him in the previous year when he came
out of retirement from baseball for the last seventeen games
in the regular season and then the postseason. You got
this guy walking around like he had accomplished something so big.

Speaker 3 (06:44):
Jordan held that brother.

Speaker 2 (06:45):
The two points they won that game one, twenty one
to eighty three.

Speaker 1 (06:47):
In Game one.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
It was never really a series from then on, and
we all knew it. I haven't seen defense played on
an NBA team like that until the Minnesota Timberwolves first
had performance in.

Speaker 1 (07:00):
Game two against Denver. I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

Speaker 2 (07:05):
And that's why I'm of the mindset, like, Yo, these
brothers might win it all. They might win it all
because guess what, I don't see Denver coming back from
the series.

Speaker 1 (07:18):
And then when you look at Dallas.

Speaker 2 (07:20):
Against Okac, OKC is gifted, no doubt, with young Thoroughbreds
and what have you, but not girth size.

Speaker 1 (07:27):
Okay should have it and look like they're built like me.

Speaker 2 (07:32):
And then you got Dallas and Kyrie is spectacular and
we know that he gonna get his.

Speaker 1 (07:41):
But Luca got that guy lou.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
Doort on him who's one of the elite perimeterive defenders
in the game. And they're young, and they're tenacious and
they go after it. They were the number one seed,
ladies and gentlemen, which brings me to my next subject.
That's why Shay gilg Just Alexander should be announced tonight
as the league MVP. I'm not saying that will happen

(08:05):
at the time of this post, and we don't know,
but I'm telling you right now, Shay Gilgers Alexander got
my vote. I have a vote, and I gave Shay
Gilger Just Alexander my vote for League MVP. Honus fifty
plus games, scoring thirty or more, averaging over twenty five game,
second youngest team in the league, and you the number

(08:27):
one seed in the Western Conference. I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
Who saw that coming? I know that Jalen Williams.

Speaker 1 (08:37):
Who I love this brother caund ball, He's special. I
love watching him play. I know he could ball.

Speaker 3 (08:43):
I get that.

Speaker 2 (08:45):
And they got a host of cats on this squad
who can ball as well. And Cheded Holmgren is gonna
be a star in this league.

Speaker 1 (08:50):
Brother could play. He's seven foot with.

Speaker 2 (08:52):
A j He dropped three pointers, he finishes on the
fast breaks, he blocks shots. Oklahoma City got a chance.
But I just think when you look at Shay Gil
Just Alexander, he's a notch above most and what he

(09:12):
has done. I can't say enough. Now, somebody fooled me,
somebody fooled other people with the fake account talking about
shake Gil Just Alexander posted they traded me along with
Thenilo Gallinari and six picks for Paul George. Where that
get you? That was not shake Gil Just Alexander. That
was a fake account. You don't see news circulating in
social media about me or somebody fools Stephen Ay.

Speaker 1 (09:34):
I you know, I didn't read it.

Speaker 2 (09:37):
I saw it on the air, and when I saw
it on the air, I assumed they had double check.
So it's no big deal, no big deal, fake burn
your account, knock yourself out. I hope it makes you
feel good your fake ass, okay, but it's neither here
nor there. It ain't making no noise any and shake
gilg just Alexander kim Ball did a number one seed,

(09:57):
and I think for league MVP on it is considering
this you in the absence of expectations and ultimately the
mountain and he climbed to help his team get to
the number one seed in the Western Conference says a lot.

Speaker 1 (10:08):
And he got he got my vote. Let's see what
happens tonight.

Speaker 2 (10:11):
Let me transition real quick to the Indiana Pacers versus
the New York Knicks.

Speaker 1 (10:16):
Now, I picked the New York Knicks to win this
series one day.

Speaker 2 (10:18):
I said seven, which was Friday, And I came on
Monday and I said possibly six. Now I don't even
know if I'm gonna pick the Knicks to win this series.
I'm gonna hope, I'm gonna pray, I'm gonna pray beyond prayer.
But Mitchell Robinson is out. He's out with an ankle injury,
and he's out for the rest of the series. So
what does that mean exactly? That means that the New

(10:38):
York Knicks don't have Julius Render. That means that the
New York Knicks don't have Mitchell Robinson, and that means
the New York Knicks squad has to rely on Isaiah
Hartenstein and some dude named Precious as in precious Ature.
Now me personally, I think their pressure should have been
playing and he should it have been getting more minutes.

(11:00):
Think he's mobile. I think he's got some skill sets.
I don't think he's as clumsy as Mitchell Robinson. He's
not the rebound and the shot blocker that Mitchell Robinson is,
but he is better with his footwork. He does seem
a bit more coordinated, and I think that he can
help this team. The question is if you're the New
York Knicks. This was my reservation about Tom Thibodeaux. You

(11:20):
don't use your bench. And because you don't use your bench,
now Thatt, it's time to use him.

Speaker 1 (11:25):
What we gonna do.

Speaker 2 (11:26):
Indiana goes about ten deep and they're the leading offense
in the NBA, and they're the only team in the
NBA that shot fifty percent or better from the field
and their second in net rating. The Indiana Pacers are
no joke. They can score on anybody, and they damn
shore scoring on the New York next the other night.

Speaker 1 (11:46):
I'm very worried about the New York Knicks.

Speaker 2 (11:48):
Brunton can only do but so much, and they're not
gonna stop Brunton because he's just on a tear. So
they're gonna try to key in better on og naob Done,
you know, Dante DiVincenzo, and obviously Josh Hart gotta find
a way to keep him.

Speaker 1 (12:01):
Off the boards.

Speaker 2 (12:01):
My issue is is that the New York Knicks are
only human. They're gonna get worn down. And when you
got these bodies falling by the wayside, what the hell
is supposed to happen?

Speaker 1 (12:09):
How many bodies.

Speaker 2 (12:11):
Do you have available to you to offset what Indiana's
gonna throw at you.

Speaker 1 (12:15):
I'm worried about it. I am, I truly.

Speaker 2 (12:16):
Truly am, and something's got to be done about that.
I'm still gonna pick the New York Knicks to win
the night. I'm not gonna pick them to lose tonight,
even though I'm very worried about it. But I think
that Garden Crowd could galvanize them yet again. But now
I can see this series going seven games. If that,
I can see Indiana winning. But I'm still not gonna
jump off the Nick bandwagon. I'm just confessing that I'm worried.

(12:39):
That's all because the injuries. If Julius Rando and mister
Robinson were not hurt, New York Knicks will be a
sure five bet to get to the conference finals.

Speaker 1 (12:49):
But now that this has happened, I'm worried. So I
just want to say that. But I'm still picking the
next tonight.

Speaker 2 (12:57):
Mitch Robinson out the next six to eight weeks due
to that Nagar thank Go injury.

Speaker 1 (13:00):
Okay, I didn't see that coming. I thought he was healed,
damn it.

Speaker 2 (13:08):
Moving on, before we go to break, I want to
focus on the ladies of the WNBA for a second
and a long overdue milestone for that league. The WNBA
announced yesterday they planned to commit fifty million dollars over
the next two seasons so players can fly on charted planes.

(13:29):
The league faced the backlash on social media when Indiana
Fever star Caitlin Clark and the team was seen walking
through a Dallas airport headed to a commercial flight. The
move addresses years of safety concerns for.

Speaker 1 (13:41):
The league and their players. Let me tell you something.

Speaker 2 (13:48):
I'm gonna say this on behalf of Caitlyn Clark. I
need any females out there who are fans of the WNBA,
who are fans of WNBA players, who are critical of

(14:08):
Caitlin Clark in any way to stand down.

Speaker 1 (14:13):
Chill out. You need to hug that girl when you
see her. You need to embrace her.

Speaker 2 (14:22):
You need to compete like hell to go up against
the taker down on the basketball court. That's fine, which
I believe that Diana Tarassis and the Asia Wilson's and
others of the world will gladly do. But what you
don't need to do is look at this girl with
a spec of resentment when it comes to what she's
doing for the WNBA. I know it made news the

(14:42):
other day when her game was aired, and Andrew Reese was
in Chicago, and the only reason we saw their game
is because it was videoed by a fan, which is
egregious because over eight hundred thousand people watch that, which
means there's an audience out there that wanted to see
Angrew rees too.

Speaker 1 (14:56):
What the hell is up with the WNBA? How do
you let that happen?

Speaker 2 (15:00):
How do you let it so Caitlyn Clark could be
seen and Angel Reese know why anybody else could be seeing?

Speaker 1 (15:05):
What the hell is that about? Different subject for another day.
Here's the subject for today.

Speaker 2 (15:11):
Caitlyn Clark got a multi million dollar deal from Nike.
Caitlyn Clark's got nil deals.

Speaker 1 (15:25):
Well before she did anyway, Now she's pro so she
just got deals. Plus she's getting the salary. She is
box office, y'all.

Speaker 2 (15:36):
And it's not about the fact that y'all are not.
That's not the subject for today. The subject for today
is how Caitlyn Clark got stuff going on for herself.
But in her very first press conference she brought up
the fact that they had to fly commercial and the
next damn day, fifty million was committed to the players.

Speaker 1 (15:53):
Who you think has something to do with that? It's
Kaitlyn Clark.

Speaker 2 (15:57):
She could have been self fish, she was selfless. She
could have been all about herself. She was about everybody,
not just herself. The WNBA was preceded by the nc DOUBLEA.
Remember that girl that took a video years go where
the men had this big ass weight room or was
it USA? I only know it was the NCAA or

(16:18):
USA basketball. But the men had this big weight room
area facility designated for them, and the women just had
one little room with one piece of barber or dark dumbbells.
What the hell was that? And it was videotaped. It
was egregious, it was embarrassing. It had people bringing up
Title nine, an equal and equitable treatment for women. Well,

(16:39):
guess who damned their equal to playing field with one
sound bite.

Speaker 1 (16:42):
That was Caitlyn Clark.

Speaker 2 (16:44):
After years and years of existence by the WNBA, After
all of these years of these ladies flying commercial, having
to go through security, having to mingle even when they
didn't want to, with personnel, with folks in the airports,
and all of this other stuff, Caitlyn Clark next all
of that said, we find commercial walking through the Dallas
Airport and stuff like that getting spotted.

Speaker 1 (17:06):
Come on, y'all, she spoke up.

Speaker 2 (17:11):
She didn't just speak about change, She spoke about the
need for change. And she was courageous enough to come
in before she ever took a damn jump shot on
a pro level. I adn't talking about no damn preseason,
and she spoke up, and that's gonna benefit all the
ladies in the WNBA. She is not somebody to be resented.
She is somebody to be respected and appreciated for the position.
And she took in what she was willing to publicize.

(17:34):
Now going to court and try to kick her ass,
there's nothing wrong with that because she's gonna try to
kick yours. But before the game, you respect that woman.
After the game, you respect that woman. And we can't
get caught up in the same old bullshit everybody well
I mean now, I mean the sisters, And if she
were black, they wouldn't have done it. That's true, and

(17:59):
Andrew reasons a black woman who's a national champion, who
beat Caitlyn Clark to win the national championship, and all
by the way before they lost to the final four
this time around. The point is, or the lead day
that rather, the point is we're gonna always have to
deal with that as black people. That don't mean we

(18:21):
shun given appreciation and respect to white individuals who speak
up on behalf of everybody.

Speaker 1 (18:30):
For the better men of the whole. That's what Caitlyn
Clark did and we.

Speaker 2 (18:34):
Should have love for her because of it. She's already
changed the WNBA for the better. And she ain't even
play a regular season game. Yet how many people can
say that? How many people can say that? Coming up
next time to stephen A.

Speaker 1 (18:52):
Smith Show.

Speaker 2 (18:53):
Did y'all hear the details of the tryst between Donald
Trump and a film star, damn it, porn star Stormy Daniels.

Speaker 1 (19:06):
If you didn't, I'm about to tell you about it.

Speaker 2 (19:09):
Plus, can NBA players compete in the NFL? Can NFL
players compete in the NBA? Somebody try to break that down.
I'm gonna try to do the same for you up next,
right here, and steven A.

Speaker 1 (19:21):
Smithshell, don't go away.

Speaker 2 (19:31):
Okay, everybody, you know what time it is. It's Tom
for stephen A's Weekly Picks.

Speaker 1 (19:35):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (19:35):
If you're a sports fanatict like me, you can't just
watch the games.

Speaker 1 (19:39):
You need to be a part of it all. So
how do I do that?

Speaker 3 (19:42):
I play Prize Pects, of course.

Speaker 2 (19:44):
Prizepects is a skill based, real money daily fantasy sports
game where you select two to three or even up
to six players and then choose if they'll have more
or less then theyre projected in game stats. It takes
less than sixty seconds to make your picks and put
you right in the middle of the game.

Speaker 3 (19:58):
Tom Action Okay, pick the the stats of.

Speaker 2 (20:00):
All your favorite players, Anthony Edwards, Aaron Judge, even as
you will see, you know that girl is something special.
And if you go to Prospects dot com right now
and use promo code sas, you receive a one hundred
percent deposit bonus up to one hundred dollars. Guess what, y'all,
That ain't no joke. So go to Prospects dot com.
Type in my initials says for a first time deposit
match up to one hundred dollars.

Speaker 3 (20:20):
Pick more, pick less.

Speaker 1 (20:22):
It's really that easy. Okay. Now, let's look at my
winning picks.

Speaker 2 (20:25):
Okay, today, though I will not be selecting any players
or sports.

Speaker 1 (20:30):
I'm feeling a little bit liberating, you know, and I
want to go off topic.

Speaker 3 (20:35):
That's right.

Speaker 2 (20:36):
I'm selecting either more or less than one, and I
have here cuts.

Speaker 1 (20:40):
In a month. Now.

Speaker 2 (20:42):
You're probably looking at me and you're saying, please, what
the hell is he talking about? First of all, that
receiving headline needs all the help in the world that
they can get.

Speaker 1 (20:48):
I'll tell you I'm not a shame. I'm going to
hareclub for men.

Speaker 2 (20:50):
I'm not ashamed to tell you I don't give a
damn what it takes, and if the damn thing works,
I'm gonna come here bragging about how I went to
hear club for men.

Speaker 1 (20:56):
Ain't got no.

Speaker 3 (20:56):
Shame in my game when it comes to sun like that,
you understand.

Speaker 2 (21:00):
And for you ladies out there, they might have something
to say. Excuse me, y'all do a lot of stuff
these days to nobody say nothing but y'all.

Speaker 3 (21:05):
Nobody say nothing but y'all.

Speaker 2 (21:07):
So how come I can't I can't do that?

Speaker 3 (21:09):
Okay?

Speaker 2 (21:10):
How come I can in his How come I ainker
can in Bellis? How come I can't improve upon.

Speaker 1 (21:16):
My undeniably already good looks. Why can't I do that?
I'd say I can, and I'm gonna try.

Speaker 2 (21:22):
You gotta look at it this way. You're not being complacent.
You're not standing still. You're not saying I have arrived.
I don't need to do anything. No, you take it seriously.
That's why you get more than one and a half
here cuts a month, and you kidding me? If I
could do it, I do at least two three here
cuts a week. It's automatically once a week, sometimes twice,

(21:45):
so it's definitely more than one and a half here
cuts a month, right, if you got in here on
your head, that's what you do. Even bald people shave
more than one and a half times a month. So
you know the answer to this question is more, more more.
We're accustomed doing that because it's prospects. That's the way
it goes.

Speaker 1 (22:07):
Welcome back to stephen A. Smith Show. Right here over
the digital airwaves of YouTube. Let's get to a couple
of quick hitters. Please, Denver Nuggets start.

Speaker 2 (22:14):
Jamal Murray again, will not be suspended for Game three
or this series against the Timberwolves. My apologies the top show.
I thought they were gonna be playing the night they're
playing Friday. My apologies the Denver Nuggets and the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Game three will be Friday night, not tonight. So let
me get that out of the.

Speaker 1 (22:29):
Way, right.

Speaker 2 (22:29):
Murray was caught on camera toss and the towers I
explained earlier, and heating pad in the direction of official
Mark Davis in the second quarter of Monday's game too.
He's just lucky he didn't get suspended. He's just lucky
because he should have been. He really, really really should
have been. And if I'm Adam Silver, I gotta really
start thinking about my image just a little bit more.
I know you're the commissioner. You do a great, great job,
but you got a lot of people that are looking

(22:50):
at the commissioner and thinking he's a bit too player
friendly at times, which is.

Speaker 1 (22:54):
Why we're seeing some of the things that we've seen.

Speaker 2 (22:56):
People are bringing up Patrick Beverley asking why hasn't he
been suspended as yet. I say it is because he's
knocked out of the playoffs. He's out for the rest
of the season and he doesn't get to come back
until next season, and at that time they can hand
down the suspension.

Speaker 1 (23:08):
That would be me.

Speaker 2 (23:09):
That's how I'm thinking about it. But people do make
a legitimate argument when they say why you can't announce
it now? Let them knowing on in certain terms is
the way it's going to be. So that's something to
think about moving forward. Staying in the West with a
Thunder had no problems beating the Mavericks in game one
of the other Western Conference Finals shots a matchup Shae
gilg Alexander Tropp twenty nine points in Dallas enroute to

(23:31):
a one to seventeen ninety five victory over ok See.
The man the Thunder managed to contain Luka Dancik and
Kyrie Irving, who had just thirty nine points combined. I'm
not gonna put that on Kyrie Irvan. Luca didn't have
a great game, so we got to get that out
the way. Here's the other thing that we want to
say real quickly. I understand Jokic is phenomenal. He can't
jump onto a curve and you still can't stop him.

(23:52):
He's absolutely phenomenal, but he hasn't looked that way these
first two games.

Speaker 1 (23:57):
Have you seen what Rudy gobier?

Speaker 2 (23:59):
I mean, I know they had thirty two points, but
it wasn't on the regular same efficiency that he usually has.
And then in game two he was even worse. Without
Ruty go be on the floor. We'll call Anthony Towns
guarding him. Have you seen this? Do you see what's
going on? Because I'm watching he don't look like that
league MVP. Dude, that's number one, number two. They were
a three seed. Oklahoma City was the one seed, So

(24:22):
why would Jokis get the MVP? Not over Shae Gilg
just Alexander this year? I don't understand that number three.
Luka Doncik, you were a fifth seed. And even though
you were terrific damn near averaging a triple double thirty
five point triple double this season, defense ain't your forte.
I mean, do you play on both ends of the floor.

(24:43):
Luca's great offensively, defensively he could be had. I'm looking
at Shay gilg just Alexander. Ladies and gentlemen, you got
to give him his props. I think he should be
a League MVP, but we'll see. Jalen Brunston is also
a top five candidy for League MVP. Honos to be
very very clear about that. Anthony Edwards should be a
League MVP candidate as well. So I just wanted to

(25:03):
say that. Now let me get to what I really
really wanted to talk about in this particular segment. This
is NBA players versus NFL players. To touch on this
subject that has the Internet buzzing. By the way, let's
get right into it. ESPN analysts and former NBA player
Austin Rivers says he could take thirty NBA players right
now and throw them into the NFL, and says, on

(25:23):
the flip side, you can't go the other way and
take thirty NFL players and.

Speaker 1 (25:27):
Have them compete in the NBA.

Speaker 2 (25:29):
But before I give my take, let me show you
a list of former NFL players that played college basketball.

Speaker 1 (25:34):
That includes Hall of.

Speaker 2 (25:35):
Famers Antonio Gates, Tony Gonzales, Julius Peppers, and of course
the one and only t O Terrell Owens. As for
NBA players with football ties mainly in high school, that
list includes Allen Iverson, Lebron James, Nate Robinson, and of
course Charlie Ward who won the Heisman at Florida State.
I'm going to say this about what.

Speaker 1 (25:58):
Austin Rivers had to say.

Speaker 2 (26:00):
I can't side with him on that now. JJ Watt
clapped right back at them, saying, you're not playing both
right now? You know, so why don't you keep your
mouth shut? On paraphrasing, but that's basically what he said.
Here's what I'm gonna tell you.

Speaker 1 (26:16):
Football is such a physical sport.

Speaker 2 (26:19):
I understand those offensive linemen in there, three hundred and
thirty plus pounds with pot bellies. I understand what you're
saying about them, even though there's a skill set that
comes with their position. Bottom line is they at the
type of dudes that lead you to believe they could
play basketball. But free safeties, cornerbacks, hell strong safeties, wide receivers,

(26:40):
running backs. You sure they can't play basketball? You sure
you can't find thirty of them? I think so, I
gotta give props michaeh Passes and you know the bully
that he is and beating up on every man, woman
and child during the NBA All Star weekend, you know
where he had ringers on a head and Pooka Nikoua.

(27:01):
I mean, I couldn't believe what they were doing, just
running over women.

Speaker 3 (27:05):
They're care they health, they they out there.

Speaker 2 (27:07):
But those two brothers could play, Okay, CJ with the Texans,
he says, try he could play.

Speaker 3 (27:16):
That's three right there. I look at football players.

Speaker 2 (27:20):
There's a level of punishment you're capable of absorbing, level
of durability that kicks in. And again, if you're all
talking about somebody being a Steph Curry, you know, or
Devin Booker or or Anthony Edwards, is somebody that's different.
You're trying to tell me some of these brothers couldn't
play power for it. You're trying to tell me if
you know they couldn't play power forward, they couldn't play

(27:44):
any of the forward spots or even center in some
degree with some of the girth these brothers have on them.

Speaker 3 (27:50):
You sure about that? You sure about that?

Speaker 2 (27:54):
And not only that, because of how phenomenal these football
players are in terms of what they can absorb and
deal with. I don't know if I ever would have
uttered that publicly, y'all, y'all can't do this, y'all.

Speaker 1 (28:06):
I wouldn't have done that. I just wouldn't have done that. That.
I'm not vibing.

Speaker 2 (28:12):
With with Austin Rivers on that. I know what he's saying.
This takes more skill, meaning putting the ball in the basketball, handling,
passing skills, the IQ that comes with it.

Speaker 1 (28:22):
I get it takes I get that, But there's a
lot of brothers in the NFL that could do it.

Speaker 2 (28:28):
I actually agree with JJ Watt in that regard when
you look at the skill set and what's required. I
know it's a big debate over social media. I don't
think it should be. There's plenty of football players that
could play some basketball. There's plenty of football players that
have played basketball. I would have put it past Trayvon
Diggs somebody like that to be able to play some
ball along with various others.

Speaker 1 (28:46):
But that's just me.

Speaker 2 (28:47):
Now, if you just muscle bound on and accustomer to
hitting people, that's it's a different animal. But that's just
not how I feel about it. Right you're watching the
Steven A. Smith Show over the digital airwaves of YouTube
coming out. Did you see what porn stars Stormy Daniels
had to say about the former President of the United States.

Speaker 1 (29:11):
Well, damn it, I did, And I tell you something.
It is time that I say something that needs to
be said. It is very, very, very important.

Speaker 3 (29:27):
It is a warning.

Speaker 2 (29:30):
A warning, damn it is one that they fit for
FCC airwaves might not be fit for the digital airwave
streaming it was I don't know, but I.

Speaker 1 (29:44):
Can't sit oddly by.

Speaker 2 (29:47):
And ignore my responsibility to the public to give you
this warning.

Speaker 1 (29:55):
It's necessary. You can't miss this. It's very important.

Speaker 2 (30:03):
Stick around and I'll let you know exactly what that
is upon my return in the second right here on
the Stephen the Smithshow on YouTube.

Speaker 3 (30:22):
It's that time of the year again.

Speaker 2 (30:24):
The NBA Playoffs are in full swing and that means
every point rebound and assist.

Speaker 1 (30:28):
It's crucial.

Speaker 2 (30:29):
And I don't know about you, but I need to
be in the.

Speaker 1 (30:31):
Middle of all that action, and how do I do that? Exactly?
Guess what I use?

Speaker 2 (30:35):
Prize Picks, of course, the largest fantasy sports platform in
all the land, with more than three million members.

Speaker 1 (30:41):
Kind of three million, three million, all right.

Speaker 2 (30:43):
Prize Picks is a skill based fantasy app where you
select two or more players from the sports you love
to watch, and then choose more or less of their
in game stats. It's not only super exciting, but incredibly
easy to play. It takes less than sixty seconds to
make your picks. So if I know that ant man
is dropping forty and y'all get just pulling down a triple.

Speaker 3 (30:59):
Double, I need to pick that and play.

Speaker 2 (31:01):
To be rolling in the big time money, all right,
So go to Prospects dot com and use promo code
says for a one hundred percent deposit bonus up to
one hundred dollars. That's right, go to Prospects dot com.

Speaker 1 (31:11):
Type of mind.

Speaker 2 (31:12):
This was s as for a first time deposit match
up to one hundred dollars.

Speaker 3 (31:15):
That's cold, sas.

Speaker 1 (31:17):
When you go to Prospects dot com, pick more, pick less.
It's really really that easy.

Speaker 2 (31:26):
Let me just get right into it, Okay, it's about
Donald Trump and a woman by the name of Stormy Daniels,
the adult film star who took the witness stand uh
this yesterday a couple of days ago in a hush

(31:48):
money trial against the former president. Prosecutors allege Trump paid
dan Used to keep quiet about an alleged sexual encounter
as he ran for president. It was running for president
in twenty sixteen. Daniel's, by the way, whose real name
is Stephanie Clifford, went into graphic detail about the alleged

(32:11):
tryst and apparently spared few details. According to the reports,
Daniel said they met in the suite at one of
Donald Trump's resorts. She said Trump asked if she'd ever
had any STDs or anything like that. She went on
to say she spent Trump on the buttocks with a

(32:33):
rolled up newspaper. She also says she went to the
bathroom thereafter, and upon her return, she found Donald Trump
on the.

Speaker 1 (32:44):
Bed wearing boxers shirts and a T shirt.

Speaker 2 (32:49):
She said, the next thing she knew, Oh my lord,
the next thing she knew they were having sex. What
got a condom? Now, Ladies and gentlemen, I gotta set

(33:11):
up for this because I'm trying to be there for y'all.
I'm trying to be there for y'all. I take no
pride in giving such salacious details. I truly don't believe
it or not. I'm sort of an oxymoronic individual when
it comes to who I am compared to what I

(33:32):
do as a profession, because even though I'm a journalist,
I firmly believe in minding my own damn business on
a personal level.

Speaker 1 (33:38):
Your business is your business. My business is my business.

Speaker 2 (33:42):
But I'm just telling y'all what she said because it
was with cameras rolling, or at least tape recorders rolling.
They gave all the excerpts on Lawrence o'donald on MSNBC
last night.

Speaker 1 (33:57):
He let his show with the damn.

Speaker 2 (33:59):
Stuff along with with with CNN and others.

Speaker 3 (34:04):
Anyway, Daniels testified she and.

Speaker 2 (34:07):
Trump kept in touch and she would frequently put him
on speakerphone and that quote, dozens of people heard her
on the phone with him end quote. After Daniel's testimony,
Trump's defense team requested a mistrial, which, of course, to
judge denied.

Speaker 1 (34:24):
Let me help y'all out here. I am not here to.

Speaker 2 (34:29):
Talk about the details of that specific situation.

Speaker 3 (34:35):
I'm here to talk to the fellas. Are you awake?

Speaker 2 (34:42):
Do you not see what's happening? Do you understand what's
at stake.

Speaker 3 (34:52):
And what's being discussed and how we've got to watch
this stuff.

Speaker 1 (34:58):
Now?

Speaker 3 (34:58):
Stevin Ay, where you going? Stevin Ay, where you're going?
I'm gonna say it.

Speaker 2 (35:02):
I'm gonna say it because it's worth being said.

Speaker 3 (35:08):
Okay, it's worth being said.

Speaker 2 (35:11):
Are you listening, your fellas? We gotta we gotta get
it done or they gonna talk about you.

Speaker 1 (35:28):
Now. Man, you know how we are. We got our egos.

Speaker 2 (35:34):
Some might live about something, some might not. But I'm
here to tell you something right now, y'all, we gotta
get it done in this day and age. You got
a little something instead of a lot of something.

Speaker 1 (35:56):
She gonna talk about.

Speaker 2 (35:57):
You, You quick silver instead of long John silver, she
gonna talk about you. Don't think that it's gonna be
something that's just laughed at or laughing or somebody laughing
with you. Where they like Bernie Matt three minutes.

Speaker 3 (36:19):
That's how I'm giving you. That's who the hell I got. Oh,
I don't care.

Speaker 2 (36:23):
About you talking about me saying bern him man, come
for I don't give a fuck I got mine. You
better get gews. You don't, butter know about the time
I'm through you fresh out after luck with me. Everybody
in there talking, laughing and having a ball. That's fine

(36:46):
when you're a comedian joking on stage. You really really
think that Trump was pissed off yesterday in the courtroom
or the day before yesterday when they were talking about Trump,
You think he was pissed off just because he was there.
I'm here to tell you right now that was probably
the hardest day of his life.

Speaker 1 (37:08):
When she sat up there, it was like it really
wasn't much. I mean a paraphraser, I mean it really
wasn't much.

Speaker 2 (37:14):
I mean, I mean it was one time he wanted
me over and over, but I wasn't having that.

Speaker 3 (37:20):
Some of it seemed shaky on her part. You worked for.

Speaker 2 (37:27):
A particular company that was known for engaging in safe sex.
You are a porn star. They were a particular sponsor
at that event. You were greeting other golfers at the holes.
I said, you were greeting golfers at the holes, meaning
the golf holes. I don't mean you were exposing them

(37:49):
to yours. That's not what I said. I said you
were greeting the golfers.

Speaker 1 (37:52):
At the golf holes.

Speaker 2 (37:54):
Okay, but you were just went Trump. You're a porn star,
but you were there to talk. Suddenly you just you
don't know how, but you found yourself virtually naked in

(38:16):
the bed with him to all these details.

Speaker 3 (38:20):
The stuff that's shaky just don't vibe with a porn
star who does that with a clothes off for a living.

Speaker 2 (38:31):
But that is not the subject I want to talk
to you all about. All I wanted to say is
that if you Donald Trump, if you any man, the
last thing in the world you want to do is
be forced to sit there in a public setting to
hear about Dare I say how insignificant and non impactful

(38:57):
you were. There are better things to do with your
day than to hear that stuff, because it's it can
be very emasculated. Now I'm not talking about myself. I
wouldn't know I I wouldn't know anything about that. But
we now learned he does. This is the same man

(39:20):
that sat up there said and Marco Rubio back in
two thousand sixty he tried he is He said that
I had little hands and was trying to imply that
I'm small in other areas.

Speaker 1 (39:33):
I can tell you that's false. Believe me, believe me.

Speaker 2 (39:35):
Remember that he said it during a presidential debate.

Speaker 3 (39:39):
He cared enough then. Well, the other day he.

Speaker 1 (39:43):
Was in the courtroom and while this was being said
about him.

Speaker 2 (39:46):
Not by Marco Rubio and implying it bye by a
woman he had actually allegedly been with. He was forced
to sit there and listen and couldn't say anything. Actually
got reprimanded by the judge because he was cursing under
his breath. To his attorneys, it's a very rough day
for Donald Trump. But it's a warning to all of us.

(40:13):
Try to refrain from engaging in such activities with anyone
other than your significant other.

Speaker 3 (40:20):
But whether it's with your significant other or.

Speaker 2 (40:22):
Not, if you're gonna do it, do it right. Otherwise
she gonna talk about you. She gonna talk about you.
Remember the movie Boomerang, Remember when Eddie Murphy was reviving Gibbings,

(40:44):
and remember when he got his heart broken because he
was talking about she had his feelings and stuff like that,
and she dumped him and he was all heartbroken, looking pathetic.
And remember when he was coming into work and he
was walking past the women and all of them were
laughing at him because she had told everybody he was embarrassed,

(41:04):
and in the movie he was good because she ultimately
wanted some more later on in the.

Speaker 1 (41:11):
Movie, and he was still embarrassed. Imagine if it's clear
to you.

Speaker 2 (41:20):
That you're not that you didn't get the job done,
it's just a warning to the fella's out there. They'll
talk about you if you don't get it done. Make
sure you get it done. That's the lesson that stephen
A is dropping on you for the day. If you're

(41:43):
gonna do it, do it, do it till she's satisfied.
Just do it, Do it till she's satisfied.

Speaker 1 (41:55):
Peace and love, y'all. I'll see Friday.
