Speaker 1 (00:05):
Each year, more than a hundred fifty people make the
decision to enlist in the U. S. Military. While the
reasons and motivations for joining the armed forces differ from
person to person, it takes incredible courage, resilience, and both
mental and physical strength to serve. So this Veteran's Day,
as we honor and commemorate those who have selflessly put
their lives on the line to fight for and defend

(00:27):
our country, it's important to celebrate the everyday veterans who
continue to work tirelessly to achieve success in their civilian
life too. Hey, friends, on Bobby Bones and this is
Vets you should know, a brand new podcast from my
Heart Radio. Throughout this four part series, I'll introduce you
to four military veterans with inspiring stories who continue to

(00:49):
use their experiences and the lessons they learned in service
through their journey as civilians. I learned about the different tribes.
I learned about the terrain, learn about the altitude. We
trained up, we did all this kind of stuff, and
then you land in country and you realize how much
of that training just goes completely out of the window
because there's nothing that anyone can do that can prepare

(01:11):
you for it. I was taught this is normal, this
is what happens, and I'm sorry this happened to you,
but expect it from now on. And so I said,
you know what, somebody has to do better, something they
deserve better. So I decided, if nobody's going to do it,
then I guess I have to. It's such a cliche.
I can't change the past, but I can influence the future.

(01:31):
And so I've learned that I can take that story.
I can take my failure. I can take the sacrifice
of Emmanuel and Michael and other friends of mine that
I've lost in combat, and I can share them with
others to inspire them and also just let them know
about these these brave men that I had the honor
serving with. So when I went to that basic camp
for the Army, I was told that my voice did

(01:53):
matter and that I needed to use it. So from
that day on, I had to read build myself, really
and it was those members of the military, my friends,
the drill sergeants, who really helped me regain my voice
and regain my confidence so that I could be a
voice for others going forward. Join me. This Veteran's Day

(02:15):
