Speaker 1 (00:01):
The numbers told the story the anays do.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
It's one of those idiots with believe in the analytics.

Speaker 1 (00:05):
This is a numbers game with Gil Alexander vs.

Speaker 3 (00:09):
Good Friday Morning Tude is a numbers game in Visa
the sports betting Network, Visa dot Com, Game plus, iHeartRadio
YouTube TV live from Bark, Canada to d Downtown Las Vegas.
It's Skill Alexander, It's Kelly Bedlin.

Speaker 4 (00:22):
So good. Oh I'm good. I'm good.

Speaker 5 (00:25):
Ready for some game sixes again tonight, cople Game sixes
might need a.

Speaker 4 (00:28):
Little nap beforehand, but yeah, otherwise I'm right in a row.
Let's go MAVs.

Speaker 5 (00:32):
Yeah night tonight, Big knight for you with your MAVs.

Speaker 4 (00:35):
Bets, MAVs series bets, MAVs and six on the line tonight.
Those would be nice cash.

Speaker 3 (00:39):
To get those home. Oh nice, you have MAVs at
six too. What numbers you get MAVs at six?

Speaker 4 (00:43):
Let me check?

Speaker 3 (00:44):
Good, you're very nice search for you right now, Let's
see what I got it at. We'll get to the
MS three sixty. We'll get to that momentarily. All NBA
things except a series of NBA questions. Now that we
have another UH Conference semi final series set heading into
a couple game six in the first round of Drew
Dinsik will join us here momentarily live from do we
know that he's at Churchill Down, specifically he's in Louisville.

Speaker 5 (01:06):
We know that much. We know that much Churchill Downs.

Speaker 3 (01:09):
Maybe we'll find out moment tale, but Drew, of course
doing the derby fore NBC Sports will get his thoughts
from down there, and after that, Pablo Torre will join
the show. Kelly, the host of Pablo Torre finds out
which you and I can I speak for you here
are big fans of this podcast. It's part of the

(01:29):
DK network, but it's he goes down sports, not al
with sports, but usually sports rabbit holes, like just stories
that haven't been fleshed out. And he does it with
his buddies, sometimes with his enemies, and they just go
down this investigative rabbit hole with all these and it's
fascinating and we'll get to that with Pablo. Chris Fhlika
joins us for a couple segments today, of course his

(01:51):
final derby thoughts and beyond. I'm sure he's got some
soccer thoughts as well. Preston Johnson, co owner of Crawley
co owner of Crawley Town Baby, who are in the
League two playoffs. He will join us, and it's a
story about how moneyball won out and he has gotten

(02:12):
his team to the playoffs. Obviously a chance to go
to League One if they were to win out in this,
but the story just to get to the playoffs themselves
one rife with amazing emotional roller coaster elements where the
fan base hated him, hated him, and now he comes
out of the ashes and gives them a playoff team,

(02:32):
so in just the most amazing way, getting rid of
all their best players, just signing these randos from elsewhere
that no one thought were any good. It's an incredible story.

Speaker 4 (02:43):
Awesome. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
And then Jason Wigardan of course, who also has a
little something to do with Crawley Town, but he'll be
here from under a cloud of smoke.

Speaker 5 (02:49):
Of course.

Speaker 3 (02:50):
I don't know if we're going to get the camera
on with Jason today, but you know, the contractor has
to work still to get there.

Speaker 5 (02:56):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
NBA last night two Game six is remember two series
were sweeps, two finished in five and we had four.

Speaker 5 (03:03):
Game six is two.

Speaker 3 (03:04):
Last night two tonight the two last night they end
the Pacers first of all, roll the Bucks. The Bucks
ended up with Dame Lillard, but without Jannis Santtkeempo and
so in the end this was a five and a
half point spread. Remember when we were on air, it
was eight and we made the comment there's a lot
of time between now and tip off, so we'll see

(03:25):
who plays.

Speaker 5 (03:25):
And who doesn't. They both got upgraded and questionable.

Speaker 3 (03:29):
At one point, dam ends up playing, Gianis does not,
and the Pacers ay, whatever will destroy you. Twenty two
point win, and the Indiana Pacers are on their way
to the conference semi finals. Would you like to say
any final words for the Milwaukee Bucks this season?

Speaker 1 (03:46):
Um?

Speaker 3 (03:47):
Because you know mine, mine is this is the greatest
thing that ever happened to Doc Rivers, that these guys
got hurt so that.

Speaker 5 (03:52):
He doesn't have to take any of the play That
is fair.

Speaker 4 (03:55):
I think every single playoffs that goes by that we
don't get to see someone like Gianis Onto Coobo participate
in is a shame.

Speaker 5 (04:02):
I agree.

Speaker 4 (04:03):
I'll just put it like that, and this is uh, Pacers,
good luck next round.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
Okay, Well we'll get to that because the Pacers are Well,
let's put this way, the Knicks are north of two
dollars favorites against the Pacers, and the Knicks are in
that conference semi final series in the East courtesy of
their Game six win over the Sixers last night. And
this could have been disaster part two. Remember how they
gagged Game five when they're up six to twenty nine

(04:30):
seconds left in Game five, Well, they go to Philly
last night. This was speaking of roller coasters, this was one.
The Knicks went up in this game thirty three to
eleven with two twenty two left in the first quarter.
The Knicks are up twenty two and you're like, wow, nice, nice,
no show, Sixers. But then the Sixers wake up. They
go on a forty three to eighteen run to close

(04:52):
the half. They actually lead by three at the half
at that point, thirty to nothing in bench points for
the Sixers, including seventeen from Bunny Healed, who had two
all series before that.

Speaker 4 (05:02):
It was a bold strategy of throwing out the one
of the one of the great three point shooters in
the league that you traded for, and it's just been
sitting on your bench the past couple.

Speaker 3 (05:09):
Of weeks and Barkley, and you know, he seized on
something that he had seized on earlier in the uh
in that I want to say it was in that
series or a difference. You know, it was in the
Nuggets series where he said, why are the Lakers doubling
Jokic and letting everybody go crazy? He said the same
here about the Knicks way up doubling up on Embiid,
and so it allowed Healed and other guys to.

Speaker 5 (05:28):
Have some room.

Speaker 3 (05:31):
Philly went up by ten, seventy one to sixty one,
but by the end of the third quarter it was
tied at eighty three. And then late in this game,
the Knicks one oh nine, one oh one. They're up
eight with a with with og An Andobi at the
free throw line with a chance to go up nine.
This is with two forty three left in the game,
and you're like, well, this is over again, and before

(05:53):
he just in mere moments it's a one eleven, one
eleven with thirty five seconds left. It's incredible, wild, It's incredible.

Speaker 4 (06:02):
In this series.

Speaker 3 (06:03):
And then a Josh Hard three splashes with twenty six
seconds left, and after an Embiid lamp and a couple
DiVincenzo free throws in New York finally understood, unlike in
Game five.

Speaker 5 (06:14):
Yes, we are going to foul up three.

Speaker 4 (06:17):
I was screaming at the TV.

Speaker 3 (06:18):
You know what happens when you foul up three, you
probably win it in ninety seven ninety eight percent of
the time. I haven't run the numbers, but don't hold
me to that. It's a winning strategy. I mean time
score situation. That was the perfect That was the perfect
spot last night.

Speaker 4 (06:33):
Yes, to do that.

Speaker 5 (06:34):
Tili could never catch it.

Speaker 4 (06:35):
And it should be the perfect example of why every
coach do this, do this, what you do. We've not
just about to makes missus hit the line. It's about
how much time get right. Time is taken off in
between all the different motions of inbounding and fouling. It's
trying to.

Speaker 3 (06:51):
Steal balls get knocked out of bound. Because this is
what happened in the end. In the end, you're up three,
the ball gets tipp out of abound. So I think
that the the Sixers had three point seven seconds left
on the clock. I believe it was, and they inbounced
the buddy healed, and healed knows well they're going to
try to foul me, so rather than really getting the
best set up and look for a three, which he

(07:14):
kind of had the space to do. But in your head,
you know you're about to get fouled. So that and
by the way, inherent in that is why you do this.
He kind of rushes it right because he has to,
and of course it misses horribly, and the Knicks win
it one eighteen one fifteen, and the New York Knicks
are headed to the Conference Semis.

Speaker 4 (07:31):
Yeah, and I don't know this would have made much
of a difference, but that foul the possession beforehand, where
they had a chance to foul Josh Hart put him
on the line a little bit worse. Free throw shooter
ended up they didn't foul him. I think it was
oubre on him. It didn't get the foul on him,
ends up getting it over de Vincenzo Embiid has to

(07:51):
foul him. Embiid fouls out. And I mean it's it's
easy to say now maybe that what wouldn't have mattered
at all, But you talk about that, that's situation with
three point seven seconds left, it'd be nice to have
a seven foot two guy to throw the ball into
that can actually shoot pretty well when.

Speaker 5 (08:07):
You know you got to get it up right away.

Speaker 3 (08:09):
So we have the series set up between the Knicks
and the Pacers, Conference Semis now the Celtics awaiting the
winner of tonight's or not the winner of tonight's, but
the winner of the series anyway. Between the Magic and
the Calves, they're game six in Orlando tonight. Let me
ask you a series of questions, Knicks or mine. Let's
start with the Nicks and Pacers. Nicks or minus two
twenty five Pacers plus one to ninety on the comeback

(08:30):
in this series, you already tipped your hand. You don't
give the Pacers much of a chance here.

Speaker 4 (08:34):
I'm in. I thought this. I thought this price was
gonna be a little bit steeper. It has gotten. DraftKings
actually one of the cheaper shops out there. I was shocked, man.
I saw some of the openers, a couple of offshore
shops opening this like minus wins seventy five and a
Bullink got beat up. That was I got it in
a minus two fifteen on the Knicks. I played that.
I'm not gonna sit here and say I went crazy

(08:55):
on it because I'm wondering about Game one Game one
I'm probably gonna stay away from. I mean, this was
a hell of a series between the Knicks and Sixers,
with a lot of minutes being played by the Knicks starters.
I'm wondering if they're going to be able to take
this momentum and carry it over into Game one and
be okay. I think if the Pacers have a chance
to catch them, it might be in that Game one

(09:17):
where they might be able to catch the Knicks a
little bit off guard. So I did bet it. I
laid my laid that minus two fifteen on the Knicks.
I think they're the far superior team heading into this matchup,
and if they can win Game one, I think this
series could be over quick. I think Pacers Pacers got
a big chance. So if they can steal one in
New York, get them off of a long, long series

(09:39):
where the starters played a lot of minutes and now
have to refocus their attention to a brand new opponent
that brings different struggles.

Speaker 5 (09:46):
Right, let's do two minutes of rapid fire? Do the
Knicks have it?

Speaker 3 (09:50):
Would the Knicks have a puncher's chance against the Celtics
in a conference finals?

Speaker 5 (09:53):
Yes, you know, yeah, they would yes, puncher's chance.

Speaker 4 (09:57):
Sure, yes.

Speaker 3 (09:58):
Game six is tonight Orlando's favorite four against Cleveland, trying
to not up the series at three apiece. Dallas is
favored by seven and a half, trying to end the
series at home against the Clippers, who will be without Kawhi.
Would you consider an Orlando series adjusted series price?

Speaker 4 (10:14):
I don't hate it, I do, I do uh, I
don't hate it. I would lean. I would lean the
Orlando's way tonight. I think it's gonna be a gross game,
probably looking under, probably looking Orlando back home, having a
chance to win.

Speaker 5 (10:25):
Who who can win more games against the Celtics in
a conference semis the Magic or the Calves?

Speaker 4 (10:30):
Calves? Even though the Magic have beat them, I think,
what two or three times this year? I still think
it's the Calves.

Speaker 5 (10:36):
You do Yeah?

Speaker 2 (10:37):
Okay?

Speaker 5 (10:38):
And the Clippers are done tonight.

Speaker 4 (10:40):
Clippers are done. Tonight, Clippers are done. Go home. Sorry, JVT.
I love you, but I like my money more.

Speaker 3 (10:46):
You beat me to the Sorry JVT. Uh, you do
like your money, Moore, and you have them. You have
the Mavericks and all kinds of exactas and futures as well.
So this goes beyond this it does.

Speaker 4 (10:55):
Yeah, I don't want that to get to a game seven. Man.
That's part of the it's done in my brain saying
I hope it's done. I hope it's done because game
seven might be dicey.

Speaker 3 (11:06):
Okay, see awaiting the winner of that series. So it's
OKAYC in Dallas. What do you think that series price is?

Speaker 4 (11:12):
I don't know. Uh, it's Thunder, but I think it's small.

Speaker 5 (11:16):
Favorites need too.

Speaker 4 (11:18):
I mean, I don't know minus one forty fifty something
like that. I haven't. I don't think I'll be getting
involved much in that series. From a series betting perspective, game.

Speaker 3 (11:28):
To game, that's where the youth of the Thunder will
reflect in the price.

Speaker 4 (11:33):
I think it's gonna be a great series. I think
both those series in the Western Conference could be cool.

Speaker 3 (11:38):

this guy.

Speaker 5 (13:09):
It's true tonsic.

Speaker 3 (13:10):
Everybody will underscore Capper on Twitter what's happened?

Speaker 6 (13:13):
And Drew, Oh nothing bad. Beautiful day here in Kentucky,
the oaks running today, and honestly, the conditions on.

Speaker 2 (13:21):
The track look a little pretty, look a little questionable.

Speaker 6 (13:24):
All week long, I've been asking people like, hey, what
do you think on what do you think on on?

Speaker 2 (13:28):
On the ons day.

Speaker 6 (13:29):
They're they're calling for rain and what are they what
are conditions?

Speaker 2 (13:31):
Is the track going to be like? And everybody just glows.

Speaker 6 (13:35):
The dirt is so impressive here, drives so fast.

Speaker 4 (13:39):
I don't know if you just saw that horse running
behind me.

Speaker 2 (13:42):
It is it is. It is sloppy, a f it is.

Speaker 6 (13:46):
I have no idea how uh they expect this track
to be drying up to run a clean race. So uh,
we'll see maybe maybe the rail, maybe the inside is a.

Speaker 2 (13:54):
Little bit more firm. But from where I can see
and from what I've seen so far and warm ups
this morning, it's gross out here. So best of luck
to the horses.

Speaker 6 (14:02):
I hope you have a safe and uh and uh
you know competitive Oaks today, but uh yeah, it's gonna
be wild out here.

Speaker 5 (14:08):
Sloppy af horse racing term.

Speaker 4 (14:10):
I actually didn't see the house sign rail behind Drew
when that horse came up. I thought the horse was
about to truck Drew did.

Speaker 5 (14:17):
I was like, is he gonna react? Didn't react?

Speaker 3 (14:21):
Yeah, look at that that is uh that is a
sloppy looking tray. Do you have any Kentucky Oaks bets today?

Speaker 4 (14:27):
Drew?

Speaker 7 (14:28):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (14:28):
So, uh, the Oaks.

Speaker 6 (14:29):
When I, you know, kind of did my homework before
coming out here, I was like, wow, this is an
impossible call. There are three very very good horses in
this race, and like three long shots that all looked
very live.

Speaker 1 (14:40):
Uh.

Speaker 6 (14:40):
And then I came out for warm ups yesterday in
particular and got to see all of the Oaks horses
kind of do their uh you know, their their uh
training and their schooling and uh and I got to
tell you what just f Yi, who is sired by Justify,
is a beast of a different nature.

Speaker 2 (14:58):
Uh it is.

Speaker 7 (14:59):
It was.

Speaker 6 (15:00):
It literally looked like, you know, they have the Derby
horses and the Oaks horses have their own half hour
to train, and they were out there together, and if
you didn't see the pink like you know, uh, you know,
coloring on the saddle, you would not have known that
that was not a Derby horse. She is much bigger
and more physically impressive than the other Phillies who are

(15:21):
running the Oaks. And I know that's not like the
end all be all from a handicapping perspective, but she's
got speed, she's got you know, pedigree, she's you know,
she's done it at you know, a level that I,
you know, would have no problem believing.

Speaker 2 (15:33):
That she can do it today.

Speaker 6 (15:35):
So she looks to taking the biggest step forward from
the juvenile Phillies, and I think she's probably going to.

Speaker 2 (15:40):
Run this race as impressively as you can.

Speaker 6 (15:42):
So if you like a long shot, pretty Woman drew
in at the as the fifteen horse, and the connections
when that, you know, drew in because of the scratch
to the one, and when that happened, the connections basically
they lost their mind. They were so excited. I think
they think that horse is ready to pop. And so
I would look for Pretty Woman as the fifteen as

(16:02):
kind of the long shot to use in the exotics.

Speaker 3 (16:05):
Okay, and just if anybody missed that because you started
the sentence, Drew started the sentence with just fyi.

Speaker 5 (16:10):
Just Fyi is actually the name of the horse he
was referring to. Yeah, definitely, seriously.

Speaker 2 (16:16):
Because Fyi is the name of the horse.

Speaker 5 (16:18):
Yes, just fyi.

Speaker 3 (16:19):
Okay, Derby Tomorrow, has your thinking changed? How are you
going to play this?

Speaker 2 (16:25):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (16:25):
So there's been a lot of rumblings about potential scratches
with for Fierceness, potential scratches for Honor Marie.

Speaker 2 (16:30):
I think all of that is noise and nonsense.

Speaker 6 (16:32):
I'm sticking to my guns that those are the two
best horses in this field. Honor Marie is going off
at a price. I'm using him on top, I'm using
him in exotics, I'm using him under fierceness and an exacta.
And then I think, ultimately, like my feeling on the
race all comes down to pace thesis. I'm expecting that
you're going to get a hot pace because there's so
many sprinters, particularly Dorknock, who's in the one, is gonna

(16:54):
they're going to have to send him and he's going
to probably draw out to password to ten, maybe track
Phantom the twelve definitely epic ride.

Speaker 2 (17:01):
Who's outside of fierceness? And if those five.

Speaker 6 (17:04):
Horses are competing for the lead and we have like
a forty five low at the first half mile, then
I think pace melt is is in play. And if
pace melt means fierceness is probably going down. You have
a really strong like group of closers in this race,
including Honor Marie, Catching Freedom and and Sierra Leone, the
second choice. Sierra Leone to me, looks a little out
of gas. I think we've seen the best of them.

(17:26):
I don't think we've seen the best of Honor Marie,
and I don't know that we've seen the best of
Catching Freedom. But of all the horses that were warming up,
can Catching Freedom kind of had the most intent, Like
he looked very very ready to run and was running,
you know, warming up with purpose, whereas a lot of
the other horses look like they just kind of wanted
to be somewhere else, like particularly the Japanese horse stuff

(17:46):
Forever Young really not even couldn't even tell you how
unimpressed I've been so far with the worth the workouts
and the warm ups for Forever Young. So Ultimately, this
horse race, probably to me, comes down to whether or
not Fierceness gets burned out by at the early pace,
And if Fierceness does, then that opens up the door
for the closers.

Speaker 2 (18:04):
I know that there are some sharp.

Speaker 6 (18:05):
Folks who really believe in just a touch, and just
the Touch was sort of the same kind of wow,
physical impressive moment that I had with just Fyi.

Speaker 2 (18:15):
These are two.

Speaker 6 (18:15):
Justify horses, and if you ever saw Justify run, you
kind of get the sense that.

Speaker 2 (18:19):
It's just it was.

Speaker 6 (18:21):
It's just a giant, beautiful, physically impressive horse, and that
was clearly passed on to just Fyi and just a touch.
And so I guess if this is more of an
honest pace and Fierceness is kind of con dictating, I
would expect just the touch.

Speaker 2 (18:35):
And Stronghold are going to be kind of right on.

Speaker 6 (18:38):
Fierceness is, you know, kind of hind quarters, and at
that point that would be sort of the three horses
that I think could hit the board. But I'm kind
of leaning into the maybe twenty percent chance that we
get a hot pace and a pace meltdown, which you'll
open up the door for my guy on a Murray.

Speaker 5 (18:54):
Just the touch is the only bet that I have.

Speaker 3 (18:55):
I haven't at about double what it is now, and
I take no credit good I take no credit. It
was all Felika and Flatter for that one they matched
on that play that was a while ago.

Speaker 5 (19:05):
I'm curious, do you get involved in matchups, Drew?

Speaker 6 (19:08):
Yes, They hung a billion matchups offshore, and I have
an uncomfortable amount of money across the matchups I went.

Speaker 2 (19:15):
I went against door Knock.

Speaker 6 (19:16):
I think dor Knock is going to be hot on
the early pace and could finish like you know, nineteenth
to twentieth. I went against Teo Password, I went against
track Fantom.

Speaker 2 (19:25):
I'm on Endlessly, I'm.

Speaker 6 (19:27):
On Catalytic, which are two horses that people don't really
think have much of a chance to run. But I
think we're going to kind of hit that five to
eight slot when it's all said and done, and then,
you know, I have a lot of matchups with aum
Marie Catch your Freedom, because I think those two closers
have a big racing them all right.

Speaker 5 (19:41):
Let me ask you what I ask everybody.

Speaker 3 (19:44):
If I come to you from the future and a
horse one won the triple crowd, what horse is.

Speaker 6 (19:49):
That not happening this year period. I could say that
with high confidence it's not happening.

Speaker 5 (19:55):
Not happening.

Speaker 6 (19:56):
Okay, Now the Bafford, the Bafford horse move who is
not allowed to run in the Derby because Bafford, of course,
is suspended from Churchill Downs for cheating. Uh, he is
not suspended from the Preakness. And you will run Mooth
at the Preakness, and so you'll have arrested Mooth against uh,
you know, whatever horse kind of makes their way through
a very tough race on two weeks rest. That's just

(20:17):
not going to be enough to beat Mouth. So I
think I would be kind of blown away if Mooth
doesn't win the.

Speaker 3 (20:21):
Prickness Drew Dinzik from the Uh, not only the Deep
Dive podcast, which he does with any monitor, but also
NBC Sports at the Edge. I just I don't want
to let this moment pass without saying this. You seem
so in your element here. Did you Did you grow
up on horses?

Speaker 2 (20:39):
Uh?

Speaker 8 (20:40):
Uh?

Speaker 6 (20:41):
No, I said, I mean college College Preakness was the
first experience I had horse racing.

Speaker 5 (20:46):
Uh.

Speaker 6 (20:47):
But then you know, kind of as a young adult
going down to del Mar every year for Opening Day
and for the Pacific Classic was a ton of fun.
And now I've kind of gotten into Triple Crown and Breeders'
Cup and uh.

Speaker 2 (20:57):
Yeah, it's this is uh it's a it's an for me.

Speaker 6 (21:01):
It's not as much an investment and handicapping sport as
it is just a entertainment tax when it comes to
betting force tracing. So but that said, you know everybody
needs a little, you know, something fun. Okay when you're
in the betting betting space.

Speaker 5 (21:15):
And where can we find you? Is? Are you going
to be on the broadcast? You can be a peacock
where we find it?

Speaker 6 (21:19):
You know, everything I'm doing is digital, and I think actually,
once I'm done recording this morning, I'm going to be
able to relax and enjoy the rest of the racing.

Speaker 5 (21:26):
This man right here, all right, so let's review.

Speaker 3 (21:29):
It's just FYI is the main keyed horse here you're
doing for the Oaks today, for the Preakness you mentioned
mooth Real and then for the Derby. Let's just review
in thirty seconds here the way that you are betting
it is once again the thumbnail.

Speaker 2 (21:48):
I got Honor Marie to win.

Speaker 6 (21:50):
I like fierceness over honor Marie as a little bit
of defense in the exacta and then in the super effect,
I'm playing honory and fierceness on top, I'm playing honor
mariy fres this catching freedom on uh to place.

Speaker 2 (22:04):
Yeah and uh.

Speaker 6 (22:05):
And then underneath I'm gonna put some bombs like endlessly
catalytic uh and uh.

Speaker 3 (22:11):
And that's about it, all right, doing his thing and
then picking on door knock among others.

Speaker 5 (22:15):
In the head to heads, you were saying, yes, sir, okay.

Speaker 3 (22:18):
Drew Denzik live from Churchill Down, stay dry man enjoyed.

Speaker 2 (22:22):
Good luck, you got it. Best luck you guys.

Speaker 5 (22:24):
Had whale underscore Capra. He look at him.

Speaker 4 (22:27):
I love the way you said that. Man, with all
the betting we do, if there's gotta be some things
you bet on and watch there, yeah, you just love
having fun with it. He loves having fun with that.

Speaker 3 (22:35):
Clearly, man knows where to purchase a hat. Also, I
should have asked him about that as well. My bad
Pablo Torre on the other side from Pablo Torre finds
out they should be fun numbers game visa these sports
betting network.

Speaker 1 (22:51):
Numbers game on vs in these sports betting network.

Speaker 3 (22:54):
Back on a Numbers game live from bar Canada at
the de Gel Alexander Kelly Bidlin. I failed to mention
right at the of the show, and I was saying,
I gotta mention it right at the top, right at
the top, because it was starting right as we started.
Every host, every guest on this network, every sport that
they have a bet in is all at Vson dot
com slash is it bets or picks? Now it always

(23:14):
kills me picks Visa dot Com slash picks, pardon me,
Visa dot Com slash picks. Every host, every guest, every sport.
I had one tennis play overnight.

Speaker 5 (23:24):
I have.

Speaker 3 (23:25):
I feel like I'm the only person who took Taylor
Fritz here against Andre Rubelev. I have I have picks
you got right, You're so excited about You're like.

Speaker 4 (23:35):
Goes to confirm things with me, and I'm like, yeah,
sure that sounds good.

Speaker 3 (23:39):
I have Fritz at plus one twenty seven pre flop bright.
As the match started, it was about I think a
couple pennies better than that. But right now they're on
serve two games, two games, Andre Rublev against Taylor Fritz
Rublev coming off the win against Alcarez and Fritz getting
no love. But Fritz is by the way three to two.
Now rublev on serve in the first set. Fritz getting

(24:00):
no love in this on the betting line here, but
his clay numbers are better, quite frankly, over the long
term than Andre Rublev's are. And Fritz has beaten a
lot of clay court specialists in this tournament. So I
thought that was a fantastic price. So if you're interested
in getting in this somehow in match at some point here,
including right now where there's a break there, it is,

(24:22):
take that for what it's worth. We get tweets at
beating the book. That's a semi final in Madrid, by
the way, we get tweets at beating the book. Always
appreciate the feedback. Matthew Mayberry, Holy crab, Look what happens
when you foul up three? He said, you win in
capitals Nick plus three and a half, Nick's money line,
Nick series sixers in play plus nine and a half

(24:42):
all cash. Thank you Tom Thibodeau for doing the right thing.
There you go, Matthew Mayberry. It is the right thing.
We used to try on this show. To remember, we
did this on primetime Action too. I don't know if
we ever followed through. We're like, we need to keep
a list of coaches who do foul up three in
those who don't.

Speaker 5 (24:57):
Yeah, no, but they're not consistent.

Speaker 4 (25:00):
And that's what I was just gonna say. And we
were talking about it. Yet, what was it yesterday in
the day before, I mean after the last game, where
it was like we brought up that point. None of
these guys are consistent. Sometimes you see it throughout. I
mean the playoffs I think have been a disaster. I
think there's been multiple times where guys should have donate
and it's it feels, actually to me, Gil like it's

(25:22):
something a couple years ago, a few years ago now
at this point that everybody kind of seized on. There
were a few that started to regularly do it, and
now it's just there. You throw out jobs or moved around,
and nobody's consistent with it.

Speaker 5 (25:36):
Trust the glove.

Speaker 3 (25:39):
Deep shot, no doubt, or to center with the Cleveland
bet gambling journalism at its best. I think he's talking
about the home run the other night, even though it
wasn't centerfield. Carrotine, I don't know, uh Las Vegas five
one four, no, uh yo yo, he says, can you
spell the word ghact, I'm looking for it and can't
find it. I like it though, lol, gac k D.

(26:00):
Of course everybody knows that as in they gacked to
the game Hunter Gaddis gacked it. Nash uh nash Is.
Kelly meant to quote the great Mark Borchard and saying
love you JVT. But I got my mind on my
money and my money on my mind with the Mavericks.
That's exactly right. Let's see here, Brian Brian Schaffer, Rublev

(26:21):
went down love one. I jumped on Ruby Lev plus money,
so he went the other way and then.

Speaker 5 (26:28):
Trust the glove.

Speaker 3 (26:29):
Also add he adds, I don't bet horses, but Drew's
report almost moved me to do so. Drew getting down
at Churchill downs.

Speaker 4 (26:37):
I mean, how many times have we done this with
him now with two three years in a row where
he's been out there, right, I mean like we've done
this same kind of shot with him now a couple
of times. It is I mean you you obviously seized
on it, like you could see it. You can see
it his face and his eyes. How many times do
we have we have him one every single week to
talk about something sports betting. You can just see his

(26:57):
eyes light up with every so out there at the Derby.

Speaker 3 (26:59):
It brings an interesting conversation which we've had I think
one or two times before, but when I see him there,
it just brings it. It brings it to the four which
I think is worth having briefly, which is, you know,
he's very open about this, so I'm not talking about
it behind his back or anything, but he works for
he does betting for NBC, like that's a big potential.

Speaker 5 (27:20):
Gig, right, And.

Speaker 3 (27:23):
You know NBC has what they have the Derby, They
have golf, which Drew loves to bet, they have certain
tennis majors. I believe they have the French Open leaps
to mind. So a lot of this would be right
in his strike zone. But one of the interesting things,
and for those of us in the gambling media space
who have been immersed in gambling and betting sports our

(27:44):
whole lives, let's face it, one of our big sort
of I don't know if I don't know if it's
Pet Peeves or one.

Speaker 5 (27:50):
Of the things that we're very conscious conscious.

Speaker 3 (27:52):
Of is are is betting media ultimately right at the
bigger networks going to be the arena of folks like
Drew who have been immersed in this for all these years.
Or you know, when it comes to football, let's use
the biggest sport of all, will would they rather have

(28:14):
some of their mainstream folks talk about betting instead of
a guy like Drew. So it's gonna be fascinating to
find out. And you know, Woul, they'd rather have Chris
Sims talking about a football line as opposed to Drew Dinsick.
And so we'll see. The answers are yet to be
determined on that, ladies and gentlemen. He is the host
of Pablo Torre finds Out. Pablo Torre joins us right now.

(28:36):
Pablo Torre finds out by the Way, a podcast that
both Kelly and I are dare I say, obsessed with
And I just want to give you the little quota,
the little sort of subtitle on it. Award winning journalist
slash gas Bag. Pablo Torre is finally free to f round.
Pablo Torre joins us now courtesy the Progressive gas Line.

Speaker 8 (28:54):
How you doing, Pablo, I'm great, guys. That is all
too kind. Thank you for being obsessed with something that
feel like my second child, much to my wife disappointment.
She's asking should we have a second child?

Speaker 5 (29:04):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (29:06):
Can I just start like when you when you had
in your head, you know, one day I'll probably do
a podcast of some sort. How long have you had
this particular angle in mind where you essentially do go,
as it says, right there, go down rabbit holes of
sports stories that perhaps haven't been properly vetted out.

Speaker 8 (29:26):
Yeah, it's sort of the culmination of all of my curiosities.
I appreciate you guys being curious about this because I've
been doing sports television in some form or another for
almost fifteen years now as a magazine writer before that,
and what I hadn't yet hadn't but I hadn't yet
earned the ability to do, was basically tell people, Hey,
I think I have a sense of what might be

(29:48):
interesting for you, because look, I get it. I understand
that doing something different that's premised on, Hey, there's a
story here. I'm not going to tell you what it
is the outset, but trust me, there's going to be
a payoff. Is something that I've work literally fifteen years
to sort of achieve, and so for me, in the
last year or two, I sort of formulated this concept
of what if. The premise is this is a mystery

(30:11):
box drawn from the world of sports, but also beyond
it and inside of which you could find something like,
I don't know, the video the Knicks used to try
and recruit Lebron James twenty ten.

Speaker 5 (30:21):
That's one of the great one. Now, yeah, let.

Speaker 8 (30:24):
Just bring in I'm bringing these sorts of bits of
information as well as artifacts as well as just to
me would feel like revelations and hoping that if you
come along for the ride, you're gonna maybe be obsessed
with this in the way that I am.

Speaker 5 (30:38):
And it is so great.

Speaker 3 (30:41):
You mentioned that one about the Knicks video to lure Lebron.
There was the there's a great one on Mattish via
the owner of the Suns, which is just mind blowing.
I'm not gonna say anything else. People should absolutely watch that.
Let's just say, wasn't too unhappy the Sons got swept.

Speaker 5 (30:56):
Just want to point that up.

Speaker 8 (30:57):
Yeah, it was so The Sun's one, I'll I'll say yes, please.

Speaker 2 (31:01):
Listen to it.

Speaker 8 (31:02):
Watch it because it's an exhaustive deep dive into how
this guy maybe afforded the Suns for a record price,
like no one it paid as much money for an
NBA and WNBA team than Mattish via four billion dollars.
And this is the story of how he happens to
be also the king of mortgage lending in America and
how you average American may helped him buy the team

(31:23):
without you necessarily knowing it, to be sort of blunt
about it. And so yeah, when they get swept and
all these questions arise, now guys about like, well, what met,
what's mattash are you going to do in this off season?

Speaker 9 (31:34):
How is he going to run this team?

Speaker 8 (31:35):
You kind of got to understand how he runs his
big business that made him a bazillionaire to get a
sense of like how this could all go for the
league end for him.

Speaker 3 (31:44):
Probably you made the joke about how your wife, you
know who thinks that you this is your second child
the podcast and not your actual, perhaps pending second child.
But let me ask you a similar question, and maybe
this is unfair, do you have a favorite of any
of the ones you've done where you've been like surprised
beyond belief about it.

Speaker 8 (32:02):
You know, I love and so for all of the
investigative work we've done, and there's a whole laundry list.
I will not indulge myself with. On your show, we
interviewed Maury Povich, and I love the interview we did
with Maury Povich for so many reasons, and part because
this is the king of daytime television, now retired, who

(32:23):
just let me watch episodes of Maury with him.

Speaker 9 (32:26):
Watching Maury Povich with Maury.

Speaker 8 (32:29):
Povich was like an out of body experience that a
genie seems to have granted me. And so when he's
walking me through what it was like, he's telestrating what
it was like to reveal that this gentleman was not
the father.

Speaker 9 (32:43):
It was just one of the greatest moments of my life,
let alone the revelation.

Speaker 8 (32:48):
Guys that Maury Povich in his competition with all the
other kings and queens of daytime television, remember the era
that this was in. This was Oprah, Jerry Springer, Ricky
Lake and all of that. Of course, Jerry Springer, the
late great Jerry Springer, is no longer with us, but
Mary Povich told me he's still and Morpovich is now retired,
he still checks the TV ratings to see if he

(33:09):
is beating Jerry.

Speaker 9 (33:11):
He's not hosting his show anymore.

Speaker 8 (33:12):
Jerry Springer has died and Maury Povich cannot stop hosting.
You can't stop competing, and that, in a way is
sports to me.

Speaker 3 (33:20):
Also, Pablo, we gotta run. We could talk for ten
minutes about this. Next one is Jokic and the harness
racing I believe is coming up.

Speaker 9 (33:28):
Yes, that's Tuesday. Spoiler alert Harness Racing. We go and
do it. We find out what Jokic loves about it.

Speaker 3 (33:34):
It is insane, Pablo Torre finds out. Thank you so much,
Pablo appreciate it.

Speaker 2 (33:39):
Thank you guys.

Speaker 5 (33:40):

Speaker 5 (34:31):
That's correct, you've once again you've sussed out the situation.

Speaker 2 (34:35):
Kelly.

Speaker 3 (34:36):
I'd like to apologize to everybody because I didn't do
my job earlier. Drew Dinsik when yesterday, at some point
when we were on air yesterday, was doing some hit
for NBC and we found out because you're in a while,
I'm in a tennis chat with him and others, you're
in a equivalent basketball chat with him and others. And
apparently they were live texting Drew getting makeup applied for

(35:00):
the first time in his life.

Speaker 4 (35:01):
I don't even know if that's true, but suping it was.

Speaker 5 (35:04):
Though, and it didn't go well, and I should have
asked him about that.

Speaker 4 (35:07):
There was a couple there was a couple of tweets
just about Drew didn't feel like he needed anything.

Speaker 5 (35:11):
You know, she was like, makeup on this.

Speaker 4 (35:15):
I know, Chris Felika has been there many times before too.
It is always entertaining when you see when you see
the dude get makeup on for the first time and
see their reaction of whether it's okay, this is what
I'm expecting, or wait, I've got a million questions. And
it sounds like Drew fell into that second camp.

Speaker 5 (35:32):
Speaking of Chris Valaka, he is the Bear.

Speaker 3 (35:34):
He comes to his Courtisy the Progressive guest line from Connecticut,
where of course he's looking forward to the Derby. He's
the host of the bear Betspot over at Fox Sports.
He will be on hand for the Belmont when they
do the third leg of the Triple Crown over there
at Fox.

Speaker 5 (35:49):
But he joins us, now, how you doing, Chris.

Speaker 7 (35:52):
I'm doing good. I'm a lot drier than Drew.

Speaker 10 (35:55):
I'm not envious in the least that I am not
there this year, because when it is wet and damp
and cool like, it's not the optimum experience, it's it's
still a.

Speaker 7 (36:06):
Good a good time. But yeah, you're right.

Speaker 10 (36:08):
The first time you sit in the chair and the
makeup artist gets the the air brush out.

Speaker 7 (36:14):
And like the blow blows the it's it's it's Uh,
it's an experience.

Speaker 10 (36:18):
I suggest be trying that. I think that could be
the next evolution of a numbers game. Could get a
makeup artist at the day there and you and Kelly
can you can get some air brush and you're good.

Speaker 5 (36:27):
That's what that's what we need here. All right, Well
let's start with horses.

Speaker 3 (36:31):
I know you want to talk soccer, and we got
some baseball thoughts from you as well.

Speaker 5 (36:34):
First of all, are you over the Guardians thing? Are
you okay?

Speaker 2 (36:36):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (36:36):
Right about it?

Speaker 10 (36:38):
I'm okay because it's like, like like we said the
other like like last or two nights ago, it was
an absolute lock that they were gonna win.

Speaker 7 (36:45):
I played them that night and yeah, we're we're okay
with it. We've moved past it.

Speaker 5 (36:51):
I was a little weirded out by how okay quickly.
I was like, it hurt bad.

Speaker 3 (36:58):
In the moment, but then and maybe it's because I
had to do the show the next day and talk
about it. But like I wondered, there was a little
part of me that was like, have I become so
numb to this that it should be concerning the time
of my thought?

Speaker 7 (37:14):
It hurt.

Speaker 10 (37:15):
It hurt from you like it was Initially I sat
there like that really just happened? Yeah, And like I
was speechless for about five or ten minutes or so,
and then I was like, all right, we.

Speaker 7 (37:27):
Got an NHL game. You're playing the oid Ones. Let's go.

Speaker 3 (37:29):
That's exactly right, That's exactly how I was. All right, well,
let's start with the Oaks today. What are your thoughts
and what are your bets?

Speaker 10 (37:36):
The Oaks is a really tough race to get a
grasp on, because you can make a legitimate case for
any of five horses to win. You can make if
you told me Leslie's Rows one, if you call me
just FYI won, you told me ways and ways and means,
one told me Tarifa one, you called me Thorpedolana one.
I wouldn't be shocked at any of But you're not

(37:57):
going to just sit there and box like the top
five horses in an exact I, because that's not going
to come back and do you any good. I guess
if you narrawed it to two horses to basically play
around in in exact kease and on top of trifectas,
and you're and you pick fours and pick five's, the
two would be the one that Drew mentioned Just Fyi,
who won the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Phillies last year, really

(38:23):
didn't have the best of it early on in the year.
Bill Monk brought her along slowly the guy to race
into her a couple of weeks back to get her
ready for the Oaks. She should be ready to run
her best race of the year today. And the other
one is ways and means the Chad Brown Philly who
just got into the field is probably the best horse
in the last prep race at Gulf Stream. She had

(38:45):
a brutal trip and she has been working phenomenally from
what I hear on on on the Churchill Downs track,
So that's the most important thing, like getting a getting
a handle on this track, especially with some sloppy condition,
and it looks like on hand for the day. So ways,
it means just Fyi would be the two that I

(39:05):
would play around with the most in that race. And
I know a good sharp handicap and friend of mine
thinks Whorreth my Ring could potentially be a sleeper horse
to pop the try. But I don't think this is
going to be a race where you're making a huge
killing a huge score. This is one of those where
you're gonna have five horses, probably between three to one

(39:28):
in five to one, and it's going to run to
the board with two of those three running versus.

Speaker 3 (39:33):
Okay, Louisville weather. Now, we are expecting rain tomorrow as well. Now,
whether it's during the race or not, you would have
to get a more specific forecast here as the day
continues today and then into tomorrow. But as your thinking
changed for the last time we spoke to you, or
has it solidified?

Speaker 5 (39:51):
What are you doing?

Speaker 10 (39:53):
No, it's pretty much the same like we talked about.
I think Fierceness is the best horse. However, can we
trust him to run his race in what happens if
he does not get the easy lead? And Drew kind
of alluded on it, there are going to be some
other horses on the front end of this race where
he probably isn't going to have the easiest of leads,

(40:16):
and he is yet to show that he can overcome
adversity when not having the lead on his front end.
And why now should we expect that to happen in
a twenty horse field and on a potentially an off track.
Maybe we'll see what happens by post time. Tomorrow in
the best field with one hundred thousand Evans screening. So
I think you need to handicap and bet the race

(40:39):
in two different lanes. You bet it with the fierceness
is the best horse, and you use him on top
of some long shots, and then you bet it in
the lane where you look at the price horses like
just to Touch. Just Steal Resilience is a super long shot,
but I think just to Touch is the best horse
in the race. I made my argument for him the

(41:00):
other day with how well he ran in the Bluegrass.
We talked about these old rules and the strikes against
the derby winner. You can't win and unraised it too,
you can't win off of three races well, twenty eighteen
Justify ed was unraised. Two was fourth races twenty in
twenty eighteen was a Derby you won. Last year ma
Age was unraised too. His fourth race last year was Derby.

Speaker 7 (41:22):
He won.

Speaker 10 (41:22):
So like those old school rules of the strikes against
the derby winner, I just don't think they apply anymore.

Speaker 7 (41:29):
So I think just Touch as a massive move in
into it.

Speaker 3 (41:32):
Oh man, if that horse wins, I will love you forever.
Let's go just a touch. By the way, a lot
of song titles here right for every young Rod Stewart,
just a touch, Slaves, Chris pah Lake, everybody there it
is Al Bernstein, move over, here comes.

Speaker 5 (41:50):
Flee exactly right?

Speaker 7 (41:51):
All right?

Speaker 3 (41:51):
So here are the two questions. I didn't get to
ask you last time, but I ask you these every year.
One is the one that I ask everybody, which is okay,
I come to you from the future.

Speaker 5 (41:59):
A horse won the Triple Crowd? What horse was that?

Speaker 10 (42:03):
It would be Fierceness, just because I think he's the
most likely horse to be able to do it. However,
I'm curious. I don't think we're gonna get one this year.
And Drew met not only mentioned the Bafford horses that'll
be running in the Pretous. You have to remember too,
the Belmont is going to be at Saratoga this year,
and it's not going to be a mile and a half,

(42:24):
going to be a mile and a quarter, which I
think brings more horses into that race to be able
to win at a mile and a quarter opposed to
winning at a mile and a half. So I just
don't think it's going to happen. Like I said, the
Bafford horses that Drew mentioned that they were waiting in
the wings bresh and ready to.

Speaker 7 (42:42):
Run at Pimlico.

Speaker 10 (42:43):
And then a mile and a quarter race is opposed
a mile and a half, where some of these other
horses that you wouldn't necessarily think could get a mile
and a half At a mile and a quarter, it
probably brings them into the race. But I would think
that I would think that if you had to pick one,
fierceness is the obvious antun.

Speaker 3 (43:00):
Yeah, so will there be a twenty twenty four triple
count crown winner is six to one on the Yes
at DraftKings. Fierceness specifically to win the Triple Crown is
seven to one at DraftKings. Sounds like you would need
longer numbers than that.

Speaker 10 (43:12):
Yeah, I would like I said, I wouldn't suggest laying
the twelve hundred or whatever it is on the No,
it's because that's just ridiculous to lay that big of
a number. But I would need a little bit more.
You're better off just with the rollover on that, especially
being fierce and this is probably would not be an
overwhelming favorite in the prenus.

Speaker 3 (43:32):
And then the other question that you have answered so
wonderfully in the past, and you may have just already
given us the answer, which is the you know, because
of the Saratoga, maybe it nullifies this. But in twenty
seventeen I asked you were talking Derby. You're like, but
I'll tell you this, Tappert's going to win the Belmont,
and Taprid did no such thought.

Speaker 5 (43:49):
Now I guess with the change of venue.

Speaker 10 (43:51):
No, no, I don't have them. With changing venue, in
the change in distance, I really don't have a bellmon
horrace right now.

Speaker 7 (43:58):
But give me a give me a week or so,
I'll see some of.

Speaker 10 (44:01):
The outliers who finished you jump outside the Derby points
top twenty and who may be Whatcher and Chad Bryan
have weight in the winks.

Speaker 5 (44:08):
All right, we'll talk some baseball, We'll talk some soccer
on the other side. How about that. Let's do that.

Speaker 7 (44:13):
Yeah, and I got some other undercard picks.

Speaker 3 (44:14):
Too, Oh, undercard picks. The Derby. Derby's just one race.
We focus on it, but it's a whole day.

Speaker 5 (44:20):
Of a race in at Churchill. Damn, we'll do that,
he said, Damn.

Speaker 4 (44:24):
Right.

Speaker 3 (44:24):
Plus the phone number where you can call Pablo Torre
and give him suggestions on want to investigate. We'll get
into that too. Next numbers game visa these sports betting
