Speaker 1 (00:00):
The numbers told the story and they always do. It's
one of those idiots who believe in the analytics.

difference between Preston and Kelly.

Speaker 5 (00:35):
That's not true. His his beard puts mine to Shane. Okay, well,
you know last time I saw longer beard Preston, and
I guess he didn't cut it down too short. And uh,
you know, other than that, your lives are completely similar.
Other than that was basically the same human being.

Speaker 6 (00:51):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (00:51):
Jason Wygard none from Cloud from under a Cloud spoke
and Chris Plika joining us here with Tario.

Speaker 3 (00:57):
The Pablo Torre phone number for those who are thinking
of some kind of event in sports history, or maybe
even beyond sports history that you would like investigated further.
He has an actual line you can call, like a
suggestion line, or not even suggestion line, just a question.
Five to one, three eighty five Pablo, five one three

(01:18):
eighty five Pablo. And he actually plays some of the
voicemails on this podcast.

Speaker 5 (01:21):
As well, the Knicks Lebron pitch, that one's an all
time Earth, the matt eshbo One. I had those, both
of those episodes I thought.

Speaker 3 (01:29):
Were I listened to the New York Yankees. I don't
know if you know this in the nineteen seventies, in
the early seventies, so this was too young. I was
too young to know this happened either. But this was
Fritz Peterson and Mike Kekch The Yankees had two pitchers.
They swapped wives. It's a true story. It's not really

(01:49):
that they swapped wives. They swapped families, wives and kids.
So weird what it's a It's just an unbelievable story.

Speaker 4 (01:57):
I know, he goes down.

Speaker 7 (01:58):
I haven't listened to that.

Speaker 6 (02:00):
I watched that.

Speaker 3 (02:01):
There's a script in Hollywood about it, like Ben Affleck
and Matt Damon considered it.

Speaker 4 (02:05):
It's it's like a whole thing. It was an amazing story.
So there's the Yankees white wife swap. There's third party politics,
like he does a whole bunch of Stuff's great. Chris
Filka kind enough to rejoin us here, curtsy the progressive
guest line. Here's the bear at bear Bets Pod.

Speaker 8 (02:18):
Oh sorry, I'm gonna I'm gonna steal along. I'm gonna
cut you off right here. I'm gonna steal a line
from an s v P. Do your research. Do you
know who Crawley Town is playing our playing in the
in the first round of the playoff?

Speaker 4 (02:30):
Tell us m K dons, m K dons.

Speaker 8 (02:36):
Yes, and m K don So that's your uh okay,
that's your little bit of information. That way, you don't
sound like a complete fool when you when you're talking to.

Speaker 7 (02:44):
Preston later today, Thanks, thanks for the show.

Speaker 6 (02:46):
I want you to be I want you to be prepared.

Speaker 4 (02:48):
I was like, where's he going with that?

Speaker 3 (02:50):
Believe me, I would have known it before the segment started,
But thank you for the show.

Speaker 6 (02:53):
Prep Live on, Eric, you're quite welcome and.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
You you wouldn't even let me intro you bear Bets podcast.
How often do you do the Bare Bets podcast?

Speaker 4 (03:01):
Chris?

Speaker 6 (03:02):
It's usually it's usually every week.

Speaker 8 (03:04):
We have one there that will not be one the
next couple of weeks and that will be away on vacation,
but we'll be back right before the for the Belmont.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
By the way, s VP apparently was following alongst that
you bring him up. He was following along the bet
the Guardian's bet he goes. I was following along. I
was so sick for you and then and Brent was
watching it as well, so like it had the tentacles of.

Speaker 4 (03:27):
This guardians that were like, I know, it's just so tough.

Speaker 3 (03:31):
You mentioned the undercart if you will, of the of
the Derby, So what do you got all day tomorrow?

Speaker 6 (03:38):
We'll start with today.

Speaker 8 (03:40):
I think if you look at race ten, which is
the Edgewood, I don't like the favorite hard to justify
in the race at all. I think if you focus
in on the eight Calispera and the ten dynamic pricing,
those two horses are price plays that I think you
should you should take a look at. If you have
a way to have a fixed odds bet on the

(04:02):
Ali Shiba. I would bet the number three horse first
mission with two fists. The tap a Trice, who was
gonna be the second choice in that rain scratched and
if fixed odds shops haven't caught onto that yet, you
might be able to get even money or so on
first mission. You're probably is going to go off around
three to or five or so in that race. So
those are the two races that I'm kind of focusing

(04:24):
on today. Then tomorrow I would look at the Derby
City Distaff ten horse, Fava, who's three to one in
the morning line and probably will be somewhere in.

Speaker 6 (04:34):
The five to two range.

Speaker 8 (04:36):
That horse just missed at Keenland last time out, and
I would expect her to win that race tomorrow. If
you look at the American Turf, I think that's a
wide open race. The number eleven horse. This is the
ninth race tomorrow the American Turf, the eleven horse, Kagino.
I I'm not sure we're going to get ten to
one on this horse, but I think it's worth a

(04:58):
worth of play anyway. Even it's around eight to one
or so, I think that's still worth shot. If you
look at the Turf Classic, the race just before the
Kentucky Derby the eleventh race. The number one horse Integration
is my top pick there five to one on the
morning line. This horse drew brutally wide and a short
feet and kind of was wide.

Speaker 6 (05:19):
Around the entire track. Last time out ran much longer.

Speaker 8 (05:23):
This is the horse's second race off the layoff outside
inside stretches out from a.

Speaker 6 (05:28):
Mile to a mile on an eighth.

Speaker 8 (05:30):
This horse should have a big, big chance in the
Turf Classic tomorrow race eleven. And I skipped over race ten,
which is the Churchill Downs handicap.

Speaker 6 (05:41):
I think you feel.

Speaker 8 (05:41):
I think I have to try and beat the six
horses zzo's off of the layoff, and I'm going to
use the number nine horse three technique. Cutting back to
the seventh prolong distance. He's run some big races at
seven furlongs and I think he's going to be a
square number on the board. So the nine horse three
technique in the Churchill Downs race.

Speaker 4 (05:59):
Tame Wow. Got all that at visa dot Com slash picks,
Kelly transcribing most of it today.

Speaker 5 (06:05):
Race ten Calisparra Tomorrow ninth race Ka Gino tenth Race
three Technique eleven race integration.

Speaker 4 (06:14):
Okay, Chris, well done.

Speaker 8 (06:17):
Yeah, I said the first I said, the first mission
one that that was. That was the one I said, Okay,
I said.

Speaker 4 (06:21):
For today, all that Visa dot Com slash picks, All right, soccer.

Speaker 8 (06:24):
What do you got I it's it's it's getting to
the point where it's a hard handicap for a lot
of these matches, just because like relegation has kind of
been like, you know, these teams in the middle, you're
not going to play in Europe next year in the
European Championships, whether it's a Champions League or Europa League,
you know you're going to be up. You're not in

(06:46):
relegation zone. But a lot of these matches are hard
to kind of cap. But I do think today under
two and a half in Tono Bologna is a good play.
Bologna looks like they are headed towards Champions League next
year year. Really good defensive team on the road at Torino,
who is kind They're in that like no man's land

(07:06):
there and they're not.

Speaker 6 (07:07):
Near Europe, they're not near relegation.

Speaker 8 (07:10):
They don't score a lot to begin with, So I
would look at Bologna Torino under two and a half
in that game. In that game later this afternoon, that's
a two forty five Eastern eleven forty five Pacific. So
that that's the one soccer thing that really stuck out
to me.

Speaker 3 (07:27):
All Right, this week, let's go statesidere let's talk about
baseball a little bit.

Speaker 4 (07:33):
You had a baseball thought yesterday.

Speaker 6 (07:35):
Yeah, are are?

Speaker 8 (07:36):
Are we to the point where we should be playing
Orioles World Series? Exactly as if you have not already,
like like they're the best team in the American uh,
And yeah, they're They're bullpen is a little bit suspect
with Kimbrel, and hopefully they can bolster that bullpen before
that and get him some help there because I don't
trust him at all. But there a lineup is so good.

(07:56):
You've got a certified ace in Corbin Burns. They're only
going to get better as these rookies continue to develop
throughout the year. We we know baseball can be a
crap shoot come postseason, but they got a little bit
of a taste last year. Maybe you just go up
and down the National League and maybe take some shots
with some teams. You want to use the obvious teams

(08:18):
with the Braves and the Dodgers, but maybe throw the
Cubs in there. Definitely throw the Phillies in there. You
want it, you want to get really frisky and throw
like the Giants through the Padres in there as well. Reds,
go ahead and do it, but you might be able
to find some nice prices with the with the Orioles
and some World Series exactness.

Speaker 3 (08:37):
Yeah, my my exact strategy. And just to be clear,
I have not made this bet yet, but is to
tie the Braves in with any number of teams At
this point, I just feel like the Braves are so
good that that's the way to go now, whether that's
a just a matchup or an exact Again, I haven't
made any of the bets yet, so I'll let everybody know.

Speaker 4 (08:59):
What I do.

Speaker 3 (08:59):
But I the Orioles are absolutely one of those teams,
that's for sure. And you're probably right, they probably are
the best team in the American League. But yes, many
of us have made a lot of money fading Craig
Kimbrel over the years, as I think, you know, let
me ask you this. This was also you also have
because I made a bet Kelly and I did the

(09:19):
other day. Angels worst record thirty to one. You have
a bet in this right, Yeah.

Speaker 8 (09:26):
I grabbed the Angels the other day when you guys
were talking about it. I have the Marlins at thirty
five to one and twenty five to one, and they
were the night that night that the Astros came back
and beat the Guardians. Prior to that was the night
where the Rockies blew the five.

Speaker 6 (09:42):
Nothing ninth inning lead in Miami.

Speaker 8 (09:45):
And that was like a complete double whammy gut punch
to me because you had one of the worst teams
in baseball right there with the Marlins, who could have
picked up a win against the Marlins. And the Marlins
obviously wound up sweeping the series. But I still feel
pretty good with where I am with the Marlins their
rotations and shambles that they're not a good team, and
hopefully the Rockies can be a little bit frisky and

(10:08):
and win some games.

Speaker 6 (10:09):
Along the way.

Speaker 8 (10:09):
But maybe we're gonna maybe look back in September in
early October and be like, the Marlins are going to
be sixty six and ninety six or whatever it is,
and the Rocky the White Sox will be fifty eight
and whatever, and you know it doesn't mean it wasn't
a good bet. We just we just got beat, kind
of like what happened with the Guardians. We had a
great bet, just got beat.

Speaker 3 (10:29):
Yep, last minute, Did you want to talk about a
Djokovic theory or not?

Speaker 6 (10:35):
Yeah, it's weird. We can talk about it.

Speaker 8 (10:38):
Like I got a I was talking with someone yesterday
who kind of heard rumblings and he I'm gonna preface
it with saying he doesn't even know if he believes it,
but like they're kind of rumblings like Djokovic might like
not play Wimbledon in the grass season because he wants
to win an Olympic gold medal.

Speaker 6 (10:58):
And you know.

Speaker 8 (10:59):
Tennis very well, and Drew knows tennis very well by
and Dan Weston knows tennis very well. Like going from
clay to grasp back to clay, that could do a.

Speaker 6 (11:09):
Number of oh yeah, we'll joint and elbows.

Speaker 8 (11:12):
So like there's this theory out there that Djokovic maybe
would skip Wimbledon to just go back to Roland Garros
and win Olympic gold on clay. So like, if you
want to take a shot, which would center being her
and off grass not being one hundred percent like me,
Is there an opportunity to maybe take some shots in
the dark with some bombs potentially win Wimbledon in case

(11:32):
that happens, I don't know.

Speaker 3 (11:33):
It's a great it's a great seed to be planted.
I like the thinking for sure. Chris, thank you, good
luck with all the horses.

Speaker 6 (11:40):
Appreciate you, guys.

Speaker 3 (11:41):

that Mike Soamich on the Derby on the Kentucky Oaks
as well, front and center. A lot of Mike Samage,
by the way, a lot of Adam Burke. He's talking
Oaks as well Is Burke Michael Dolan on the NHL
playoffs tonight, a couple of Game six is, including the

(12:33):
Knights trying to stave off elimination, and then Game seven tomorrow,
Leafs and Bruins.

Speaker 4 (12:39):
Let's go Toronto.

Speaker 3 (12:41):
I haven't won a Cups in sixty seven Visa dot
com check it out. You only one game seven right
in hockey so far.

Speaker 4 (12:48):
Haven't had a game seven yet in the old balloon
sesto either.

Speaker 7 (12:51):
Oh yeah, no, got to pick it up, pick it up?

Speaker 6 (12:54):
NBA?

Speaker 4 (12:55):
You don't do you believe though? Okay? These two?

Speaker 3 (12:56):
Game six is tonight, Yeah, I assume you believe Dallas
is gonna win. Yes, no, Kawhi for the Clippers, you
believe we will have a Game seven in the Magic
and the Calves, the series that everybody really craved a
game seven.

Speaker 5 (13:08):
I'm not betting it, but yes, I do think we're
going to Yeah. I think the Magic have found something
a little bit. Can they keep it rolling?

Speaker 7 (13:15):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (13:16):
Gary Harris.

Speaker 5 (13:18):
Questionablek out tonight from that he is questionable as of
right now for that game. Jared Allen, I did see report.
He's questionable right now. Did not play last game. Remember,
although they look pretty good without him, didn't.

Speaker 7 (13:30):
Play last game.

Speaker 5 (13:31):
He was at shoot around this morning, so should be
that's that's better than last game if you're a Cleveland fan.

Speaker 7 (13:38):
So a couple injuries to watch here.

Speaker 5 (13:40):
Not a lot of great depth in that Orlando back court,
so might be tested if no, Gary Harris, he's one
of those guys a little bit more important than people
probably realize. I mean, this series has been something there's
definitely part of me that you know. I don't have
any bets on it. So I'm rooting for the Magic
because the Calves.

Speaker 4 (13:58):
You deserve this. Just so you tanked for this Calves.

Speaker 3 (14:02):
You tanked for this Calves game six tonight, Dogs at Orlando.
We'll see if it gets to a game. Seven, ladies
and gentlemen. He is the owner of Crawley Town, a
League two team in England. Once upon a time he
was doing one dollar college football podcast with me. Then
he was on ESPN's Daily Wager, and now look at him.

(14:22):
It's our buddy, Preston Johnson. Everybody, how you doing, Preston?

Speaker 10 (14:26):
How's it going? Spend way too long? Gil, I'm sorry, Oh.

Speaker 4 (14:29):
No, man, come on, we understand. Let me.

Speaker 3 (14:31):
For those who are unfamiliar, let me just ask because
they kind of know the background, which is you you
parlayed crypto punks into owning this team.

Speaker 4 (14:46):
That's the five second version of this. How did he
more or less? Was there more that you would like
to add to that?

Speaker 10 (14:55):
The crypto punks part was for the company pixel Vault,
which then I kind of laid that success into the
club ownership and the NFT community craze that was building.
But it wasn't like CryptoPunks themselves, but you were close.

Speaker 4 (15:08):
I was close.

Speaker 3 (15:10):
There was no chance I was going to get that
completely right by the way, President boy that out all right?
So when you when you bought this team, take us
through how that went when you started sort of announcing
the way that you wanted to manage this.

Speaker 10 (15:27):
Sure, so the I mean a lot of people probably
find this somewhat interesting because they'll remember that NFT craze
that boom. There were all of these online communities forming
around most of the time, like cartoon or pixel images,
that really had nothing attached to them. There were these
like communities on Twitter or discord or whatever, but it
was all speculation. There wasn't actually anything there to build

(15:51):
on to drive value to the NFT. And so our
original strategy was, what if we bought an English football
club in the lower leagues and brought an international community
together to rout on a club because there's a game
every Saturday morning here in the States or Saturday afternoon
in the UK, and we are able to bring more
fans to a club that otherwise locally has one of

(16:13):
the smallest fan bases in the whole EFL. And so
when we got carly Town Football Club, that was our strategy. Now,
as you've probably found out in life, things don't always
go to plan. And about nine or ten days into
our takeover of the club, you know, we got a
call from the Football Association that said, your manager or
your head coach is under investigation for racism and discrimination charges.

(16:35):
And this was like okay, so we suspended him eventually
let him go obviously, and so we had to kind
of well, we had gone in thinking, hey, we'll have
a year to learn how this works. Because most of
us were brand new to English football. We had to
postpone our NFT strategy. We had to sort that we'd
have hire a completely new staff and we were total

(16:56):
trust the experts, trust this trust that we tried to
bring in people that we thought would give us the
best chance to have success, and we just didn't. We
weren't good enough. We were battling relegation all season. Eventually
there were twelve charges on that manager for racism discrimination.
That was the most in EFL history. Is literally the
biggest case in the history of the league. So we
were dealing with all of that while trying to like,

(17:21):
how can we actually be good at football? And we
realized by the end of it going into the second season,
which is just winding up now, if you don't have
support from the local fan base, which means if you're
not winning, then you're not going to have any interest
internationally anyway from any NFT or crypto or just any audience.

Speaker 4 (17:36):
Right.

Speaker 10 (17:36):
So, like Wrexham's story with Ryan Reynolds is fascinating because
they generated all this revenue and money from their documentary
and because it's Ryan Reynolds, and they put that into
the playing squad and they've actually been winning and so
now they've drimmed them all this momentumre They got promoted
into our league last year and they got promoted out
of our league this year. They were one of the
top three teams in the league, so back to back

(17:56):
years they've been promoted and so our strategy was similar
but didn't work out. So then we kind of had
to regroup and figure out how do we do football?
Then you know the English way.

Speaker 3 (18:06):
And when you know, when did it well? For the
interest of time, what was the low point for you, Preston,
would you say.

Speaker 10 (18:15):
Oh, the low point was probably last year. So we're
talking twenty twenty three January. We had another coach quit
on us that we had appointed or hired, and we
had some players that at that point were the experienced
players that all of the fans thought were good enough,

(18:36):
but were part of the reason we were fighting relegation
and just weren't good enough. And so we ultimately bet
on youth and athleticism and data and analytics. And the
fans hated us for it because we were getting rid
of all their old guys and banking on and experienced players.
And you know, there are a lot of death threats online, especially,
and you know I was over there. I was with
an hotel wanted in Krawley, and had some fans tell me, Hey,

(18:58):
there's a mob of fan they're going to meet you
outside and confront you. You should hurry and get out
of there, go to London Gotaya hotel. MINDI like it
got pretty intense. But that's what's crazy about. Like we
talked sports betting and gambling all the time, and that's
what I did for over a decade. And you're wagering,
you know, for some people, pretty high stakes every weekend.
The emotional stakes I underestimated at a level I could

(19:21):
never have imagined. It's what their livelihood over there for
these towns, for their clubs. It's why they work so
they can eat, sleep and you know, support their football club.
So that was that was the low point I think
was around that January February time last year.

Speaker 4 (19:34):
Wow, death threats.

Speaker 3 (19:36):
Now that Crawley has Crawley Town has qualified for the playoffs, like,
congratulations on that. At the playoffs begin on Monday. For you,
do they love you with the same passion that they
hated you.

Speaker 10 (19:48):
It's definitely changed, Maybe not quite a one to eighty,
but you know it's close. It's being there for our
final game. It all came down to that final Saturday.
We needed a couple of the other results to potentially
go our way as well. As that's when our games,
so you know, them looking into the stands, they invaded
the pitch or what we called, you know, rushing the field,
and all the fans were chanting like you know, going

(20:09):
off and everyone in the stands. It was there was
a moment that we're like, okay, like they have joy again,
which was really important for me as a person because
last year I felt like I ripped this joy from
this fan base, from this town, like and it was
my fault because I was one of me and my
co chairman Evan like this is all our doing, Like
how can I help them find joy again? And so

(20:30):
I had this I mean, they've never been to the
playoffs before, so in one season, turnaround to do it
our way, bet on analytics at the end of the
day and then them seeing that it actually paid off
and worked out and they're like chanting and cheering for
their team again was like an internal resolution I actually
really needed. So it was a really good moment for
me last weekend. And we have a couple more games
to go, hopefully three more to actually achieve promotion in

(20:51):
this playoff. But either way, like pretty satisfied with how
the years.

Speaker 4 (20:54):
Going, and you and you have to win the playoffs
to get promoted. Is that correct? Yeah?

Speaker 10 (20:58):
Three automatically go up and then four through seven battle
out for one more spot.

Speaker 3 (21:02):
Oh okay, okay, And it begins against the m K
Dons on Monday. It's a home and home. Thursday is
the next one, Crawley Town against MK Dons.

Speaker 4 (21:09):
President.

Speaker 3 (21:09):
I'll just say this on air what I've probably set
to you off air at some point, which is it
could not happen to a nicer human being.

Speaker 4 (21:16):
All of this.

Speaker 3 (21:17):
I'm sorry you had to go through that bottom that
Nader to get here. It's easy to say maybe that
makes it even more rewarding, but no one should have
to go through that. But I'm just so glad for you, man,
and good for you, I mean before you leave, because
I do want to get this back to your wagering days.

Speaker 4 (21:35):
Just a book ended here. You're still an NBA guy?
Are you still following the NBA playoffs? Oh?

Speaker 10 (21:40):
Yeah, you know. Like, Look, I've let some NFL I
hardly followed. Baseball is like way behind me, but you know,
NBA is my true passion. Basketball is the best. So
I've been watching most games. Following most games, I have
a pretty I was pretty pro Timberwolves before the season.
I fired a lot. If I had the nasrid, I
had to finched and then I had thirty to one.

(22:02):
I'm them to win the West, I think is the price.
So I'm basically a tea Wolves standing and I bet
that the Celtics are going to win the East so
frequently that actually laid a like pre playoff price on
the Celtics. And that's why Porzingis got injured, as you
were wondering, but so I'm make it happen.

Speaker 3 (22:17):
That is why Christop Sporsvegis got hurt. Still a gambler
in his head. Preston, thank you so much, man, and
we'll all be watching on Monday.

Speaker 4 (22:25):
Man, good luck.

Speaker 10 (22:26):
Thank you guys. Take care of Preston.

Speaker 3 (22:28):
Johnson Crawley Town co owner at Sports Cheetah.

Speaker 4 (22:31):
That's how we know him. And we went back in
the day Daily Wager before that, he just bounced on
Daily Wager like where did press it go? So, by
the way, not exactly how it happened by a soccer team. Uh,
we're coming back. Jason Weingarten has a little thought on
that next.

Speaker 4 (24:14):
So that's not fun.

Speaker 7 (24:15):
What round?

Speaker 4 (24:16):
That was a semis?

Speaker 3 (24:17):
Yeah, they will U rub Lev will play the winner
of Felix o' j alias Siman Yuri Lehechica.

Speaker 4 (24:23):
You know them well, very well, both of those guys.
I could spell both those names. You cannot. There's no
bed on it right.

Speaker 7 (24:30):
Now, buddy, go right, well, I got to write down.
I got it, write down. I'm one of those.

Speaker 5 (24:34):
People that's got to write it. Oh YEARI J I
R I you got that much.

Speaker 7 (24:41):
This is the toughest one.

Speaker 6 (24:43):
L E.

Speaker 5 (24:45):
H E c k A correct okay, Felix audre alisim,
I've got no problem Felix normal spelling, Oh okay, okay,

tough one God great hyphen all you've.

Speaker 7 (25:02):
Seen a L I A S S I M E.

Speaker 4 (25:06):
Wow, Kelly Bilin, let's go Wow. You weren't looking at anything,
were you?

Speaker 1 (25:12):
No?

Speaker 4 (25:12):
All right now spelled Crawley Town Sure, no kidding.

Speaker 7 (25:14):
Should have got money out of you for that. Wow.

Speaker 4 (25:17):
You were a big dog to get that right.

Speaker 7 (25:19):
Dell Beckham Junior signs with the Dolphins. He did, so
that moves the needle for you, Not exactly.

Speaker 3 (25:25):
Odell Beckham Junior signs with the Dolphins. All right, we
get tweets to beating the book Buddhist man. He put
a side by side with Drew in his hat with
the late Great Ted Knight from Caddy Shack in his hat.

Speaker 4 (25:38):
Well looks good on you, though, it's pretty good.

Speaker 5 (25:40):
I was thinking I've got a better Panama hat than
that at home.

Speaker 3 (25:43):
But Scott New York s sixteen makeup artist Gil has
a problem with his earpiece wire and and what shirt
button to button? Baby step, baby steps, Flika, baby steps.
It's very true, by the way, Steven a little behind.
But at first I thought Drew had a few pop
this morning. But he's just having a great time.

Speaker 7 (26:02):
I was just pumped up. That's what we're trying to
talk about.

Speaker 3 (26:04):
Awesome insight. By the way, Spence, we need a Derby
horse named what a fool Believes?

Speaker 4 (26:09):
Do we brothers?

Speaker 3 (26:10):
So maybe he thinks you shouldn't betting on the Derby.
I don't know, New Jersey, New York. Thank you for
mentioning the taprit call in twenty eighteen on the Derby.
So twenty eighteen or twenty seventeen, it was twenty eighteen.
You might be right about that. That FeliCa made still
one of the sickest call as calls I've ever seen.
Paul Madina tell the story when Kelly got screamed at
from across the room at the South Point for a

(26:31):
pick that Preston made. We didn't we didn't get the
visual on Preston because we have in trouble. But if
you if you look at Preston, it's very Kelly esque.

Speaker 6 (26:38):
It was.

Speaker 5 (26:39):
It was on his daily wager days and we were,
you know, I mean, we were over at the South
Point doing I don't even know what show I was
doing at the time, Koream Zone, I think late at night,
and it was right around the NBA All Star break in. Obviously,
Daily Wager was on south Point in the on south
Point TVs very often, as were we, so I think
people might confused me and Preston. I was walking out

(27:02):
the doors of the sports book one night, and if
you've been in the south Point sports Book, it's very
wide open, as you know, Gil and a guy from
I don't know, fifty yards away in the middle of
the sportso stands up.

Speaker 7 (27:13):
He's like, you el way.

Speaker 5 (27:15):
I don't know why I even turned around, but like
I kind of knew he was yelling at me.

Speaker 7 (27:19):
For some reason. I turned around.

Speaker 5 (27:20):
He's like, great, bleep and call on the under of
the Old Star game last.

Speaker 4 (27:24):
Night, fifty yards away, and.

Speaker 5 (27:26):
You're like, you're fifty yards away, So like, what a
fucking he yelled back at the guy, and I just
kind of like, and I knew exactly who he.

Speaker 7 (27:32):
Was thinking of because I had seed pressed to talk
about it. Yeah, I'm just gonna walk out of here.

Speaker 3 (27:37):
Jason Whitegarden knows a thing or two about Crawley Town.

Speaker 4 (27:39):
He joins us out.

Speaker 3 (27:40):
Curtis, the progressive guest line at spread Apedia on Twitter,
comes to us from under cloud of smoke.

Speaker 4 (27:44):
How you doing, Jason?

Speaker 1 (27:45):
Pretty good? How's going? I also know a thing to
do about getting yelled at?

Speaker 3 (27:50):
No, what's your why did you have a recent to
yell at thing? Or just wait past the time, just
real quick before we get off the crawl Town thing.
You you are intimately involved in this as well. We
don't want to uh, we don't want to short change
you on that. You feel like Crawley Town, based on
everything Preston just talked about, because he talked about a

(28:12):
manager that was accused of racism, uh, he getting death threats,
you feel like your documentary would have been better than Wrexhams.

Speaker 4 (28:19):
Huh.

Speaker 1 (28:20):
I think it would have at least been has interesting.

Speaker 2 (28:23):
I mean the characters involved and the everything everything that Yet,
Like remember when we went to dinner and we were
trying to explain to you the stories by staff and
were like this is unbelievable, like none of this.

Speaker 1 (28:34):
No one would ever believe it. But it is a
great story. Hopefully one day it gets to be fully told.

Speaker 2 (28:40):
But yeah, I mean, now now we just gotta go
out there and win a couple of games.

Speaker 4 (28:45):
Crawleytown MK dons, you got to play on it now.

Speaker 1 (28:48):
I'm just gonna be watching it.

Speaker 4 (28:50):
Okay, what about baseball today? Anything?

Speaker 1 (28:53):
Giants plus one forty.

Speaker 2 (28:54):
Jordan Hicks might be one of the best signings of
the offseason. He's he's been a revelation and I was
a starter, another another player the Cardinals couldn't couldn't develop.

Speaker 3 (29:06):
Well they I mean he was he was their closer, right,
that was the thing, and the Giants decided that this
is going to be his permanent thing, being a starter.
Would you make a Cy Young bet on him?

Speaker 1 (29:16):
You know, funny story. Right before the season, I had
two bets.

Speaker 2 (29:20):
I sent Tommy, my friend Tommy works at Unobated, go
make for me. I wanted to bet sias Azuki to
win the MVP and Jordan Hicks at three hundred to
one for Cy Young, and I told him to go
bet sias Azuki at Westgate or somewhere. And then Circa
had the number on Jordan Hicks and he's like, oh,

(29:42):
I gotta to pod some money or whatever, and I
was like, ye know what, I don't really want to
probably throwing money away anyway. So I didn't bet Jordan Hick,
but I did go through the whole process and identify him,
and then I just said, no, it's a waste of money.

Speaker 1 (29:54):
So I'm an idiot.

Speaker 4 (29:55):
Yeah, well we've all been there.

Speaker 3 (29:57):
Giants have a couple of guys who you you you know,
one might feel our sy young candidates. Of course, team's
got to do better. But plus one forty on the
Giants day against the Phillies. That's the only baseball play.

Speaker 1 (30:08):
Only baseball player today.

Speaker 2 (30:09):
I'm I'm on wedding duty this week, and I gotta
go to a wedding tomorrow.

Speaker 4 (30:13):
Okay, let's getting married. Anybody we should know about.

Speaker 1 (30:16):
No one of my my one of my girlfriend's good friends.

Speaker 2 (30:19):
But okay, I'm busy, sadly.

Speaker 5 (30:22):
Yeah, will you have action on the line during the wedding?
And if so, how will you track your bets?

Speaker 1 (30:30):
I'll just I'll look at my phone.

Speaker 2 (30:31):
Yeah, fortunately, like the China Open this weekend is an
evening thing, so I won't won't you know, totally conflict
with betting, but yeah, I won't.

Speaker 1 (30:42):
I won't be like.

Speaker 2 (30:42):
Looking at my phone during the ceremony or anything like that.

Speaker 1 (30:46):
I can. I can take a break for an hour
or two.

Speaker 3 (30:49):
Give us, give us your your latest baseball thought that
you have. Let's let's put it this way that you
have not had recently or or did not have pre flop, Like,
what has surprise you and what has caused you to
perhaps change your thinking, maybe trigger a bed.

Speaker 2 (31:04):
Even the A's have been slightly better than expected, maybe
the rest of their teams in their division really haven't
taken advantage of anything. The Astros haven't looked good. Kind
of wondering if the Astros are just having a bad month,
or if there's you know, structural problems there.

Speaker 1 (31:22):
I got my eye on that.

Speaker 2 (31:25):
I mean, the main thing in baseball it remains is
that the really good teams, the Dodgers, brave, you know,
you can can throw the Yankees up there, like teams
that just have more assets than the other teams are
clearly better positioned. The bad teams are really bad this year,
the Marlins, the White Sox. You know, it's just like
you could already basically like, I don't want to watch teams.

(31:46):
I don't want to watch games with those teams at
this point already it's not even fun. But I think
it's sort of we're seeing the bar bells kind of
get bigger and bigger that the good teams are on
one end, the bad teams are on the other there's
Cup two was in the middle of that.

Speaker 1 (32:01):
Don't don't really want to commit to anything.

Speaker 3 (32:03):
The the ever widening gap between the halves and the
have not. It's been saying it for years, it just
keeps getting wider. In baseball, you're making a Derby bet
at all? Have you made a Derby bet?

Speaker 6 (32:12):
No?

Speaker 1 (32:12):
Who should I bet? I don't even know. I'm hoping
to by something for the Oaks today. Who's who's the Wris?
What am I betting?

Speaker 9 (32:18):
Uh?

Speaker 4 (32:19):
We know that one what just a touch?

Speaker 10 (32:21):
No?

Speaker 7 (32:22):
No, no for Oaks.

Speaker 3 (32:22):
We know that the Oaks just f y I for
the Oaks just fy yes, just f y I. And
then just a touch is a tend to currently ten
to one in the Derby. But fierceness a justifiable favorite.
I think people would say justifiable short shot. There's your
Derby synopsis.

Speaker 1 (32:41):
Yeah, I'll take I'll take a look.

Speaker 2 (32:43):
You know I've I've kind of moved on from Horace Racing.

Speaker 1 (32:46):
I call it.

Speaker 2 (32:46):
Used to call TVG the most expensive channel on TV. Wow,
Now I use that money for other stuff.

Speaker 4 (32:56):
Okay?

Speaker 8 (32:57):
Uh?

Speaker 4 (32:57):
And no uf L for you. You're sitting that out
as well.

Speaker 2 (33:01):
No, I can't you know, I've gone through phases of
spring football, and this year I just have no interest
in it.

Speaker 1 (33:07):
I haven't watched the games.

Speaker 2 (33:09):
I can't really name any of the quarterbacks, and just
another thing to not be invested in when.

Speaker 1 (33:15):
You can focus, focus on one or two things.

Speaker 3 (33:18):
Okay, Jason's getting older, he's focusing, he's narrowing the scope.

Speaker 4 (33:22):
Jason, thank you as always, good luck with everything.

Speaker 1 (33:24):
Thank you.

Speaker 2 (33:25):
One more thing, Jackson Holiday fifty to one review of
the Year vand will have a big number.

Speaker 1 (33:30):
Keep an eye on it.

Speaker 4 (33:30):
He mentioned that the other day. He mentions it again,
Jackson Holliday, who was sent down.

Speaker 3 (33:34):
After two for thirty four fifty to one now for
American League Rookie of the Year.

Speaker 4 (33:39):
Thank you, Jason. I like when he does that Columbo
thing when he's walking out there. One more Thing.

Speaker 9 (33:49):

Junior Dolphins agreed to a one year deal. Chris Filikaz
texted and I had Kelly plus eight and then he
puts about a million zeros to get ali a seem correct.

Speaker 11 (34:29):
He's right, you were so good at that. I was
almost suspicious. Hey man, we were talking. We were talking
all here. I ourgier only as seem has been around
long enough. Not only have I spent what six years

Speaker 5 (34:47):
Even to my days of writing up highlight scripts. So
that's why I was confident I could write their names
for you. I don't think I could do it.

Speaker 3 (34:54):
We had sweets mixed C two thirty seven. Is there
a Beating the Book podcast this weekend on the Derby? No,
we did not do a Derby Beating the Book podcast.
We kind of stop doing Derby podcasts just because we
have so many guests on a numbers game, so it
seems kind of redundant.

Speaker 7 (35:08):
Can talk you Derby Prime Roup vs. Dot Com?

Speaker 3 (35:10):
Yes, Mike Sammich, A reel started from the bottom. Now
we hear Preston. That's the Preston theme. Saw there, Jason H. Eleven,
You guys need to come to Sarah Toga for the
Belmont Live Sigma Derby. For Kelly Funny, you mentioned the
Sigma Derby. We actually have a we want to show
you something and this is happening right now during the show.

(35:31):
And this is worth We always said if it happens
during the show, we have to show this. So one time,
Kelly teest me. We have Sigma Derby here at the
d This is an original Sigma Derby.

Speaker 5 (35:40):
Correct, Yes, the last what is it? The last original
that can be accessed by the public?

Speaker 4 (35:46):
Correct? Okay, So these you may see these two folks
over here. They are cleaning and caring for this Sigma
Derby machine as if it is a rem brand. Yes,
and you told me a story where you can up
to them, and you wanted to talk to them about this. Well,
by the way, we're.

Speaker 3 (36:03):
Not zooming in on it, because when you tried to
take a picture, they were like, no, you cannot take
a picture of us doing this.

Speaker 8 (36:09):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (36:09):
I didn't really push it much further, but it was
I think it was a Friday when I was walking
out of here and they were they were working on it.
I was just just beyond fascinating because if you have
seen the Sigma Derby, I mean it's a it's a
machine that goes back some years, right, so they are
I mean it's cleaning and repairing and you check it

(36:29):
all the parts and pieces and everything. I thought it
was beyond fascinating. I mean, it's wait, one of the
oldest casino games you're gonna find in town.

Speaker 3 (36:35):
And are these d employees that have other tasks or
tasks or is this their expertise?

Speaker 5 (36:41):
So I got no idea, but what there's one guy
over there who looks like the Sigma Derby expert.

Speaker 4 (36:46):
That's all.

Speaker 7 (36:46):
That's all I'll say. It looks like the great keeper
of the Sigma Derby.

Speaker 4 (36:49):
Colin Murphy.

Speaker 3 (36:50):
Great segment with the Sports Cheetah and the Sports Cobra,
Kelly Bilin let's go for awl it like Stacks. Is
there any chance, Gill that you can bring back primetime
action of the NFL season? That show helped me in
circum millions. All of your fans need you to do
two shows a day again. Oh, I know, I don't.
I don't, but thank you for the sentiment. You're trying

(37:12):
to kill me. Man, No, I appreciate it.

Speaker 4 (37:14):
It's very nice of you. It was.

Speaker 3 (37:17):
It was the It's the greatest show that's ever been canceled. Yeah,
as we like to call it, Matt brown shat out
of course. All right, NBA tonight again two Game six?
Is we start, excuse me, we conclude where we started
in the NBA tonight. First of all, we have Game
six between the Magic and the Cavaliers, Magic trying to
force a Game seven back in Cleveland. Magic favored by

(37:40):
four total is an even two hundred And I asked
you earlier, would you consider, if you have some conviction
on the Magic here, would you consider an adjusted series
price on the Magic as well? By the way, that
adjusted series price is plus three point thirty man, conceivably,

(38:02):
then if the Magic win this, yeah, you've got the
plus three thirty I mean you might be able to
take the money line on the Calves in Game seven.

Speaker 4 (38:08):
And lock it.

Speaker 5 (38:09):
I mean, look, if I'm saying I lean the Magic
way tonight, then yes, I think I have to say.
I have to say that would be I wouldn't hate
that bet if someone made it. I'm staying far away
from this, but yeah, okay, I don't. I don't think
I'd be a terrible bet. I do think I lean
magic way a little bit tonight. They've looked Paula ben
Carrow has been amazing. I mean that's the I mean,
nobody cares. Nobody seems to care about this series. I

(38:31):
understand why nationally, but that is maybe one of the
storylines of the first round that has gone completely unspoken.
Basically is how big a games Paula ben Carrow's put
up at least the past couple games against the Calves
defense that you know, at times during the year was
a top five defense in the NBA. Again, injury reports

(38:53):
on that when Jared Allen was at shoot around this morning,
did miss it the other day when he ended up
missing the game, Harris, listen to his question, but I
doubt he's gonna go from some of the things that
I heard. That's that makes things a little interesting. Cleveland
was interesting to watch two only playing you know, part
of the problem. So many teams run into this. We

(39:14):
always we asked this question about Minnesota so often, how
are you gonna play the two bigs?

Speaker 4 (39:18):
Right?

Speaker 5 (39:18):
And I think Kats game stretching out wide helped make
that okay in Minnesota.

Speaker 7 (39:25):
Cleveland's got to figure that out, I think this offseason.

Speaker 5 (39:27):
I don't know that it's nothing against Jared Allen or
Evan Mobley, right, but when you have both of them,
what you could get for one of them filling out
the rest of your team is gonna make your whole
roster better.

Speaker 3 (39:39):
MAVs are seven and a half point favorites in the
nightcap tonight, Game six back in Dallas, though with the
MAVs leading that series three to two, they're trying to
close out the Clippers, who will be without Kawhi.

Speaker 4 (39:48):
Leonard totals two of weight. Here we're showing eight on
the Mavericks.

Speaker 3 (39:53):
Say, I could ask you the same question about the Clippers,
although I know where you stand on the Mavericks.

Speaker 4 (39:58):
If somebody had conviction.

Speaker 3 (39:59):
On the Clippers, would you advocate a five to one
Series prize on them.

Speaker 6 (40:03):
I know you.

Speaker 4 (40:04):
I just can't.

Speaker 7 (40:05):
I just can't get there. I can't get there.

Speaker 5 (40:07):
I'm not I'm also not advocating running out laying eight
points tonight with the Mavericks like this has gotten, you know,
basically as high as we've seen in the series, eight
eight and a half points. For the Mavericks to be
laying today, it's a lot. I think they're gonna win tonight.

Speaker 4 (40:20):
I like, let me ask it this way. Are there
two players in the league.

Speaker 3 (40:25):
Worse I don't worse is the right word, but two
players in the league that are as unpredictable from game
to game as Harden and Paul George are.

Speaker 5 (40:33):
So I thought that's where you were going. So glad
you are, and like, right now, I don't.

Speaker 4 (40:37):
I don't know if there's no idea.

Speaker 5 (40:39):
With this team without Kawhi Leonard in how much more
important than they become.

Speaker 7 (40:45):
It's it's I have.

Speaker 4 (40:46):
No idea if they went crazy in one you would
not be shot shot. I mean, like I was saying
I said before this, you would wouldn't be shocked.

Speaker 5 (40:54):
I said before the series, James Harden had has to
play an unbelievable series for the Clippers to have a
chance that thinking there's no way James Harden could do
that game in and game out, and he really has
for the most part, so typically cap to him already.

Speaker 3 (41:08):
I guess remind everybody Nuggets four and a half point
favorites in game one.

Speaker 4 (41:13):
Yeah, this is where you stand on that.

Speaker 7 (41:15):
This is interesting.

Speaker 5 (41:16):
The movement on the on this game kind of keeps,
you know, opened at five, quickly got bet down to
about four. Now we're seeing Nuggets money come back in and.

Speaker 4 (41:25):
Their serious price is south of two dollars.

Speaker 7 (41:27):
Now, yeah, I know, I know, I can't.

Speaker 5 (41:30):
This is what was one of those tricky betting things,
right where you like you, you like the dog, but
you thought the price was gonna be better on what
you were gonna get, right, So I didn't do anything
with that. I I think I'll be in on the
Timberwolves after Game one if they lose, and I'm leaning
that that that would tell you I'm leaning the Nuggets

(41:51):
way Game one.

Speaker 7 (41:51):
I'm watching.

Speaker 5 (41:52):
I will be watching injury information closely on this game,
and I'll p if this is still below five, gil,
I'll probably fire.

Speaker 7 (41:59):
On the before game one.

Speaker 4 (42:01):
Okay, let me ask you this.

Speaker 5 (42:02):
I think it's a lot. I also like first half unders.
I think a lot of people have been talking about
that pace being different. There's gonna be a lot of
feeling out early between these two teams on what they
can each do offensively.

Speaker 3 (42:12):
The team remaining in the playoffs, either Eastern Conference or
Western Conference, that is most that has the best chance
of beating the defending champion Nuggets is the Boston Celtics.
You still think it's the Celtics Celtics, not the t Wolves.

Speaker 6 (42:27):
Not the t Wolves.

Speaker 7 (42:28):
But they would be second. They'd probably be second.

Speaker 4 (42:31):
I just don't buy into the Celtics beating them. I
really don't.

Speaker 5 (42:34):
I mean, look, I've always that guy that I can
speak to you about the talent on the roster. Yeah,
do I trust Jalen Brown and Jason Tatum, I you know,
and and the coach you get everything in Missoula. That's
gonna go into a late end game situation if they're
at a tie ball game with the Nuggets.

Speaker 6 (42:54):
No, there is.

Speaker 5 (42:55):
If you're you're talking to tie ball game in game
seven with four minutes left, there is like the the
amount of trust difference I have between the Denver Nuggets
of the Boston Celtics.

Speaker 7 (43:06):
There is a huge dispair.

Speaker 3 (43:07):
That's why someone was my buddy man was like changing
the guard in the NBA because it's all the injuries,
and I'm like the yelkicch isn't let yo kitsch, isn't
letting anybody change a guard.

Speaker 7 (43:15):
So I will say I am.

Speaker 5 (43:16):
I mean Jamal Murray obviously was very questionable going into
that last game, the last Denver game. He looked he
looked pretty good. I mean highlight wise, he looked amazing,
but looks pretty good the way he was moving those
When I say I'm monitoring injuries, I'm just making sure
nothing else flares up with him. And then Contagious called well,
Pope also got injured in that last game.

Speaker 7 (43:37):
Looks like he's gonna go.

Speaker 5 (43:38):
He's listed as probable right now, so I think he's
gonna be okay.

Speaker 4 (43:42):
The only thing that's tricked you with the Nuggets, O.

Speaker 5 (43:44):
Gil, is this is I believe in that core kind
of four or five guys, but they're not as deep
as they were a year ago.

Speaker 7 (43:52):
And that's a little sketchy.

Speaker 3 (43:54):
Nuggets t Wolves is tomorrow game one, Nicks PACER's game.
What is until Monday? People should know Nick's a favorite
by six. Lastly, that game again or the series?

Speaker 5 (44:05):
I bet the series price early when it got released
last night, two fifteen.

Speaker 7 (44:09):
I like that.

Speaker 5 (44:09):
I think if you find two twenties, it's still good. Otherwise,
I'm not going to touch Game one. That spread a
little off to me. If they happened to get caught
game one, I think they could all be back in
on next series.

Speaker 3 (44:19):
All Right, we've done all we can do. If you're
on the radio side, go join Goliker next. If you're
watching the Pretty Pictures, Best Bets is next, I'm off
