Speaker 2 (00:30):
This is on the rise.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
We are back baby, and today, as I have teased
this before, we are going to be talking about McLaren. Now,
for those of you who don't know, McLaren have made
to me the season one of the greatest advancements in
their team. We finally get to see the potential of
Oscar PR three. We finally get to see the amazing

(00:55):
performances of Lands of Norris's deep dives, his overtakes, It
gets a'sbuak On and other members off the fields. We
also get to see Zach Brown finally deliver on the
promise that he made to Oscar Prscrow after going through
all of the trouble trying to get him the Alpoune
Debarker last season where Fernando Orleans all left, they posted

(01:19):
they promote Oscar Piastre, but that didn't work out because
he came out and said no, I'm not going to
be signing with Alpine.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
There was no deal made, So there was a whole,
a whole bunch of controversy that went on around Oscar Prstree.
McLaren upaid. But this episode Off on the Rise is
focus on the gains that McLaren have made, and they've
made some ultimate ultimate gains. Right, Let's go back to

(01:49):
pre season. Zach Brown and McLaren both knew that, unfortunately,
they weren't going to be able to perform this year,
at least in the start. There was going to be
some immense pain from this start. And while I'm a

(02:10):
big McLaren and Landon Norris fan, I had yet to
see the potential of Oscar PRS three after the whole
Driver Market de Parkle in twenty twenty two, and finally
we're able to see what Landon Norris and Oscar Prstree

(02:31):
are able to do in the McLaren that's at its peak.
So the first point that we've got to talk about
is what happened, right, So McLaren knew that the desire
that they were carrying forward from twenty twenty two was
going to be unable to sustain performance while everyone was

(02:52):
in for the first first season of the new era rules,
they knew that the technical reactives had not worked in
a favor and they weren't behind the ball, So they
worked all of the winter break in twenty twenty two
twenty twenty three to make sure that come the bar
Raid opener they were able to sort of take some

(03:16):
temporary paints and then move forward and building a car
that was going to be able to fight for points,
and not just points but for polding positions as well.
So in BA Rain unfortunately that they couldn't score points,
But what was interesting to see was driver Oscar pr
Street was within a couple fence off Landon Norris now

(03:40):
there was nineteen to twenty. They were all the way
at the back, unable to scope points and it might
have been demotivating for the team, might have been a
very lackluster sort of performance that you would see from
back market teams or teams that just weren't able to
get ahead of the ball. However, Ze knew that, Hey,

(04:03):
just way for a couple of races, please, and then
you will say, once we get this new concept in
that is going to be able to work. They didn't
do any major structure changes. They did do some major
stided pods on the carriage at the floor because that's
where most of the era comes from. It's now underneath
the car So they were able to finally get something

(04:24):
going and finally be able to put themselves in the
position to start five positions on the podium and in
the points and not just low points, about high points
anywhere from p five and above. Right, we saw Oscar
Piastri finish a second in the in the sprint race,
So I think there is a lot to come, especially

(04:47):
in the back half and the last ten races of
the twenty three season. Right, we're going to be able
to see some I think some phenomenal performances come out
of the McLaren at the Papyo Clad it's going to
be it's going to be a lot of screaming and
the TV. From my end, because I am a McLaren fan,

(05:07):
I do have to disclose that. So I was a
little bit disappointed to see that they won't performed that well.
But bias aside. Right, they are a very very good team.
They've got immensely young talented drivers in their pool currently. Right,
Oscar PRS three proved himself in Formula two in his

(05:29):
rookie season. He came in, he won the Formula two
championship and everyone knew this bloke is going to be
a star. This kid right here, he's going to be
able to perform at some of the greatest level we've seen,
maybe even on the level of championship title winners. So

(05:49):
could we see Oscar prst down the future fight full
championship maybe alongside George Russell and Landon Norris. I do
believe he's got that talent within him, right, So why
are McLaren on this week's episode of On the Rise? Well,
as I said, they've made gains, they knew exactly what
to do. They have been able to do everythy Mercedes,

(06:15):
their engine supplier, has not, and they've been able to
get strategies and performance issues right, something that Ferrari has not. Now,
Ferrari and Mercedes are two important teams to mark because
right now they are second and fourth in the Constructors
with McLaren and McLaren in fifth. Now McLaren aren't anywhere

(06:40):
in contention with Ferrari up ahead because there's still a
couple points behind them. So it's going to come down
to can McLaren make huge enough gains now to fight
for second in the championship. I don't know if that's
going to be possible, but to fight four, fourth and

(07:03):
third position where Aston Martin are. Ferrari is one point behind.
Aston Martin and Aston Martin have not been doing well
in terms of the race development, in terms of bringing
a good package upweight pack to so the development wars
going on right now. Aston Martin seems to be taking
a bit of a dive, No doubt there's a bounce

(07:25):
back waiting to happen, but right now they're on a
downward trajectory and Ferrari seemed to be taking steps upwards,
even though it's baby steps. So given the fact that
Ferrari are making very little gains and that Aston Martin
aren't able to make major gains since they bought most

(07:47):
of the upgrades coming into season and shocking every single one,
I do believe that McLaren could finish third in the
Constructors overtaking for our Urry and Aston, Martin and slottin
in third behind Mercedes. Why is that important? It's important

(08:10):
because McLaren has often taken some inspiration from the RB
nineteen of the Red Bull and taking some of those
aerodynamics sort of flunders and points and attached to their car.
We already know that the McLaren, the mcl sixty is
using different suspension geometry compared to the engine supplier of

(08:34):
the works Mercedics Works team, So whatever little inspiration they've
taken from the RB nineteen seems to have worked and
bought a lot of performance. We have seen Lewis Hamilton
and George Russell both get on the radio and say
the McLarens are really quick, especially in a straight line.
That's where most of the performance on the McLaren has come.

(08:57):
They are rapid in straight line. That's something that Mercedes
has not been able to tackle yet. That's one of
the downfalls. Mercedes is a very very draggy car. They
love it when they have high downforce circuits because the
Mercedes can maneuver a little bit more and being a
little more level playing field. But come to Monza, come

(09:20):
to Las Vegas, where your downforce has got to be minimal, right,
it's not going to be as heavy. You're going to
see the McLaren's absolutely outperform the Mercedes outperform the Astons
as well, given the games that they may. So with
that in mind, we have to know where exactly do

(09:44):
we see McLaren Asker, pr Street and Land of Norris finishing.
I believe that McLaren can catch Ferrari, can catch Aston
by the end of the year, and I hope it's
enough of points, but they will be a or to
overtake at least one of those teams and finish a

(10:05):
position or two above their current place in terms of
Oscar piast through Landon Norris they are about to make
majority of the points actually compared to last season, then
made up immense points, especially once the upgrades have come in.
They had been slowly introducing upgrades throughout the season to
allow their cars to work, but it's only in the

(10:29):
last five races we've been able to see the boys
in Papaya just absolutely perform anyone. Right, last race we
did see Landon Orris struggle, but that was because they
sort of they went and prioritized a wet setup compared

(10:49):
to a dry setup. And that had to do with
flashbacks to Sachi when Landon Norris was in the league,
he was on the way to win the race, fell
and they were unable to perform and they just sort
of ruined Lander's race towards the end, kids he didn't
finish winning the race, maxistappen and Red Bull dead. So

(11:12):
here is where I think McLaren will be able to
make changes. Right, they know what to do because we've
just seen them adapt. Now they did adapt too far.
They took it a little bit too far. But if
we give them the chance to learn the eight time
Constructor champions, I think we'll be able to come back.

(11:35):
I'm ready to see what they're going to bring in
the future. I'm ready to see the potential of Oscar
PRS three And I need you guys to note this down.
This is very important. Oscar pr Stree can pose a
threat to Landon Norris given the immense pace that he
seems to pull out and he doesn't seem to blame

(11:57):
the car, but anything that goes wrong, he is blaming himself.
And that does it. For this week's episode of On
the Rise, I am macom RANDI you can follow me
