Feeling good before five o'clock this morning. It's ninety seven
point one was chef m Toby and Chilly in the morning.
Feeling good this morning because I was snug as a
bug in a rug. Turned the heat on last night.
It's been cooler than average, and I was feeling some
sort of way a little cold last night, so I
turned on a little bit of heat, not much, just
took it up to keep it like it about you know, seventy,
and I will say that it felt good.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
It was.

Speaker 3 (00:26):
It was quite RESTful and comfy and cozy. And you
know what, if it gets really cold this winter, so
be it. Because heat's a good thing.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
That's good.

Speaker 3 (00:37):
Why are you feeling good this morning?

Speaker 2 (00:38):
I have a lunch date, a sushi lunch date with
my husband later.

Speaker 3 (00:42):
Really, are you a big raw fish fan when it
comes to the sushi, because there are multiple sushi levels
of fans.

Speaker 4 (00:48):
I've all, yeah, no, we don't do the sushimi, but
in the roles we do raw to No.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
Yeah, it's not that bad. You said raw If it's fresh,
it's fine.

Speaker 3 (00:58):
I don't know, man, I mean, may I'll have like
some really rare tuna that's seared but not full on wrong, no,
and definitely not eels. Definitely lost. Lord, I love you.
Oh no, no, I'm not. Look, I'm a fan of
a lot of fish as long as it's not like salmony.
But man, when it comes to sushi, I'm you know what,
call me what you want to call me, but I'm like,

(01:19):
bring me your California rolls with some tempora shrimp or something.
I don't I ain't trying to go down that way.
I don't know why or where, because normally I'm kind
of adventurous, except for when it comes to eggs. But okay, sushi.
But you know what, that's your sushi date with your husband,
and I hope it is tasty, and I hope that
you guys have a wonderful date because you earned it,

(01:41):
you deserve it, and you're kind of wrapping up the
first week.

Speaker 4 (01:44):

last time? I don't I know you haven't flown, did well,

(02:55):
this is the last time you flew with the time

Speaker 4 (02:58):
No, no, no. I did fly, unfortunately a few months
ago for a funeral in Iowa, and I took a
couple of annex and I fell asleep. Come to find out,
I slept through some drama. My sister told me that
there was somebody the back of the plane arguing about
something in the seed or the wrong seat or something.
And I was like, thank God, because I wouldn't have

(03:20):
woned the extra anxiety.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
What about you, I've.

Speaker 3 (03:22):
Seen a lot of it lately, and unfortunately it all
has to do with one word entitlement. It's interesting how
people pass things through the prism of me. I me,
I'm important. I paid for these tickets, so I get
to do that. No, you don't get to go on
Southwestern Group A and save the entire exit row for
people who are like see fifty.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
Nine and sixty Oh the save seat thing.

Speaker 3 (03:46):
And it just keeps happening. And now that like Southwest
is changing policies, people are even more belligerents. I noticed
that on my last flight. So give us a call,
tell us your story. Emily, Thanks for calling. Eight six
six wash FM. The number one is some in flight drama.

Speaker 1 (04:03):

Speaker 4 (04:04):
Two kids were in the seat behind me kicking my seat,
and my mom turned around and told.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
The mother of these kids that they need to calm down.

Speaker 4 (04:13):
And so my mom and his mother of these two
children were so shower towards each other.

Speaker 3 (04:19):
Emily, thanks for calling from Kensington. Why can't we all
get along when it comes to flying there?

Speaker 4 (04:23):

my kid. Yees, I haven't done it yet.

chilly the morning here at ninety seven point one watch
that fem on this Friday, September sixth.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
So what is the quote you've chosen for today?

Speaker 3 (04:53):
From Elon Musk. He says failure is an option here
if things are not failing, you are not innovating enough.
So many times people don't do something because they're afraid,
afraid of making a mistake, afraid of failure. But why
are you afraid of that? Think about what Elon Musk says,
Think about what that would be like in your personal situation.

(05:15):
Failure is an option here. If things are not failing,
you're not innovating enough. So are you just staying complacent?
Are you being safe? Or are you willing to risk
failing knowing that when you fail, you innovate. Think about
it today, Apply it to what you're going through in life.
Hopefully it helps, and don't be afraid of failure. It

(05:39):
is an option. It is, you just have to believe it.

in a recent interview, he was on a podcast and
they were talking about Miley and he said, quote, I
love that voice.

Speaker 2 (07:00):

a compliment.

Speaker 4 (08:04):

has been arrested for buying his son a gun. The
same year, the fourteen year old had been investigated for
making school shooting threats online. Police say that Colin Gray
knowingly allowed his son to have access to a weapon.

will be sentenced on December sixteenth and faces seventeen years
in prison and over a million dollars in fines. Police
and manassas are searching for a man who allegedly tried
to kidnap a young girl while impersonating a police officer.
This happened early yesterday morning. The man grabbed the girl's

(08:48):

Road and then drove down several streets before she managed
to escape. Park police are busting out their radar guns
along the cap Little Crescent Trail, where the posted speed
limit for bicyclists is fifteen miles an hour. Police are
going to be clocking bikers with their lasers through the

(09:10):
end of October. And according to a recent survey of
workers in retail, food service, fitness, and hospitality industries, eighty
three percent feel overwhelmed to some degree by the amount
of information they need to do their job properly, and
many pin the source of their work related stress on
not knowing certain skills as part of their job. Forecast

(09:31):
for today partly cloudy, highs around eighty right now, fifty
seven degrees in Burke.

Speaker 3 (09:37):
So you head back to school night this week? They're
chilling right, yes.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
And I noticed something very different this year compared to
other years.

Speaker 3 (09:44):
How was it different in What was it that had
you going hmmmm? You'll have to tell us, so please
do coming up in a few As Toby and Chilly
in the Morning continues, It's Friday, September sixth d Siga morning.
Pretty much everybody's back in school. Well now, I mean
if there were some people that waited till after Labor Day,
they're back in and is such back to school nights

(10:06):
are a thing for some. It's ninety seven point one.
Watch FM Toby and Tilly in the Morning at eight
sixty six and nine two seven forty three sixty one.
You had back to school night this week? How did
it go?

Speaker 2 (10:15):
It was really?

Speaker 4 (10:16):
What I mean? My son's in fifth grade now and
both my husband and I like to attend. It's not
for kids. This is generally when parents go and an
opportunity for them to see what the curriculum is for
the school year. A teacher does a quick little presentation,
You're in and out, usually in about an hour. But
what was different this year was the attendance.

Speaker 2 (10:36):
Or lack thereof.

Speaker 4 (10:38):
Like, we were both surprised that not as many parents
came as we had seen in years past. And I
wonder if this is kind of where it starts to
go down because your daughter's much older.

Speaker 2 (10:51):
Can you remember when you stop going to back to
school night?

Speaker 3 (10:54):
Personally, it was like seventh grade ish sort of a
thing because it just was a rehash of the same thing.
You know, I didn't really have to do a lot
of that because kind of did a lot of the
school your stuff with her mom, and her mom was
like in Florida at the time, and then kind of
came here and and you know, so I went like
in fifth grade and I did the sixth grade. But
then after the sixth grade thing, it was just like,

(11:15):
I'm like, what's the point. I mean, you're telling me
what what.

Speaker 2 (11:20):
They're going to be learning.

Speaker 4 (11:22):
I mean, I okay, you know, and maybe we're super
extra because we both like to go in person. Yes,
you can, of course watch the presentation or the slides
online the next day. Because they do put it on
a website. But I think part of the advantage of
going to a back to school night, I guess from
our perspective is your opportunity to ask any questions you

(11:42):
may have about the curriculum.

Speaker 3 (11:44):
Are your question yeah, no, I'm sorry, no, yeah, I hear,
you know the questions. I didn't mean to interrupt. Do
you think that maybe it's just changed because of the
demands on parents these days in addition to the whole
school thing, Like, you know, you've got a lot of
parents that you if your two parent households, you're both
working a job and that kind of cuts into your

(12:04):
downtime in the evening.

Speaker 4 (12:06):
And sure, and I totally get that, and I understand,
you know, especially for single parent households, that's really tough
because you know, you got to find childcare and all that.
But we think there's nothing more important than his education, right, like, sure,
and it is a sacrifice, and so we are maybe
over involved or over curious about what he's going to

(12:28):
be exposed to and what he's going to be learning,
And maybe that'll end in time.

Speaker 2 (12:32):
He may not even want us to go. My parents
weren't those parents, And.

Speaker 4 (12:36):
Maybe Honestly, if I'm sitting here thinking about it, maybe
a part of the reason I do want to go
to these things and be involved is because my parents weren't.

Speaker 2 (12:44):
And I want to be able to give to him
maybe what I wasn't given.

Speaker 3 (12:48):
Do you feel like you're overcompensating.

Speaker 2 (12:49):
No, but I think it's important because they're not.

Speaker 4 (12:52):
Kids don't share a lot because they don't communicate with
you what they're learning and what they're doing, and so
it's nice to know upfront all the different topics they are
going to be covering, so that you can talk to
them about it throughout the school year.

Speaker 3 (13:06):
That's very interesting. I felt like we were having a
therapy session. It was almost like, but here's the one
thing I will say, Chilli, there is no right way
or wrong way to do it. There's just doing it.
However it works for you and your family, and if
you and your husband want to be involved, what did
you say, super extra? Then you know what be super extra.
But if you also if you're like, hey, I've got

(13:27):
to try to feed my kids, I've got to work,
or I just don't have time at the end of
the day, or maybe I'm tired, that's okay too. If
you've got thoughts, you know where to find us, share
them with the class, or even better yet, just tap
the talk back microphone when you get some time today
if you're signed into your iHeart app listening to us
at ninety seven point one WASHFM. And here's to hoping
your kids, if you have them that are in school,
have the best year ever because you are engaged.

Speaker 5 (13:51):
That's right, Shelby and Chilli's nearly impossible question.

Speaker 3 (13:54):
Let's play the game. What is the question today?

Speaker 4 (13:57):
Twenty six percent of people who were pulled so that
if this happens to them in the morning, they know
they're going to be having a bad day.

Speaker 2 (14:04):
What is it?

Speaker 3 (14:05):

is twenty six percent of people say that when this

Speaker 2 (14:56):

Good morning and welcome. So you've got the question fire
away with your guests.

Speaker 4 (15:16):
I would say losing your.

Speaker 3 (15:17):
Key the sign you're gonna have a bad day to
this happened to you this week wherever maybe today it
did not.

Speaker 2 (15:25):
I usually place my keys at the same place every morning,
every night, so I won't lose them Until you don't right.

Speaker 3 (15:32):
Well, there's something to be said about placing them in
the same place every time. Trust me, as someone who's
run late more times than I can count because I've
misplaced something like that. You're onto something when it comes
to that whole leaving the keys and the wallet and
whatever that you need to go out the door within
the same place, so it's right there for you.

Speaker 4 (15:49):
We've got hooks right by the door which we hang
our keys on.

Speaker 2 (15:53):
Yeah, but I will say that the whole apple or
air tag.

Speaker 4 (15:56):
Or those things that have been invented has been a
game changer for people who always displays their keys, because without.

Speaker 2 (16:03):

Speaker 1 (16:49):
Top Stories, Top of the Hour.

Speaker 4 (16:51):
The father of the Appalachi High School shooting suspect has
been arrested. Colin Gray faces multiple charges, including involve hearing, manslaughter,
and cruelty to children because he reportedly bought the AR
style rifle that was used in the shooting as a
gift for his son. The same year, the fourteen year

totally nearly fifteen million dollars. Fairfax County Public Schools is

(18:21):
today party cloudy. Hi's around eighty right now, it's fifty
seven in buwie.

Speaker 3 (18:25):
Age see this this week. Google AI apparently can help
you figure out what's going on with you. What ails
you your illness is your sicknesses by listening to you
cough and sneeze, applying the sound of it to data
to tell you what's going on with you. Thoughts about this?
Do you trust it? Is this technology continuing to evolve

(18:46):
in front of us, making us very very dependent on
it or not so much? Thoughts eight sixty six washupm
the number one eight six six, nine two seven forty
three sixty one. Give us a few we'll get into this.
That's next. Now Google is able to detect whether or
not you are sick based on costs. They're sneezes.

Speaker 1 (19:04):
I'm Google, not a doctor. Are you really gonna trust me?

Speaker 3 (19:07):
And that's a good question. There, Google AI ninety seven
point one wash FM where Toby and Chile in the morning.
It exists, it's out there, it's still being tested to
its infancy. But do you trust something like Google AI
to tell you what's going on with you? Like like
it's like it's a.

Speaker 4 (19:24):
Doctor, well for sneezes and coughs. There's so many different
varieties and this AI is going to have in its
database over four hundred million different sounds. So if it
helps to narrow it down, why not.

Speaker 1 (19:39):
I've detected you have the COVID from that cough? Would
you like me to contact a doctor for you?

Speaker 3 (19:44):
Now? In full disclosure, where Toby and Chile in the morning,
it's ninety seven point one wash FM. And that's not
actually Google's voice saying that. That's me playing with AI
voices just to prove a point.

Speaker 2 (19:54):
And what's the point? You want to prove? You're not
a fan?

Speaker 3 (19:56):
No, that I don't trust it yet. It's way too early.
And this this is your health and your wellness, not
knocking AI. And you know, I love technology, and I
love what's next, and I love change, but this is
a little too close to home, at least for me
for right now.

Speaker 4 (20:12):
It could be a starting point, though, right Like if
you sneeze a certain way and it could tell you, okay,
that sneeze sounds more like allergy versus whatever, then you
could go to a real doctor, a human and get
more answer.

Speaker 3 (20:23):
That's right. Yes, Google will sent me your way doctor
because it detected something at a sneeze. Can you help me?

Speaker 2 (20:30):
I mean we google our symptoms anyway, Toby, How is
this any different?

Speaker 3 (20:33):
Well, that's a good question. How is it different? Well,
because this is where it starts, and then someday it
ends up someplace like this.

Speaker 5 (20:41):
I've detected your partner is causing you stress and anxiety.

Speaker 1 (20:46):
Would you like a prescription or to file for divorce?

Speaker 2 (20:49):
Well, at least you didn't have to worry about a cope.

Speaker 3 (20:51):
Yes, or legal fees. So what do you think Google?
Do you trust Google to diagnose your ailments and illnesses
based on what he Here's in a sneeze or a cough.
Phone lines are open eight sixty six, nineteen seven, forty three,
sixty one eighty sixty six wash FM the number one.
Feel free to call and tell us what you think.
Here at ninety seven point one Watch FM. Hey, Labor

(21:13):
Day weekend. I did something I haven't done since I
was a kid growing up in Texas. Totally random. It
involved manual labor and yard work.

Speaker 2 (21:22):
Oh god, yep.

Speaker 3 (21:23):
On Labor Day weekend, I labored more in minutes. Toby
at Chilly in the morning. It's Friday, September sixth, seven
thirty nine in d C. You might not think that
doing manual labor on Labor Day weekend is any fun,
but I'm gonna tell you it can be fun and
therapeutic at the same time, Toby Achilli in the morning
here at ninety seven point one wash CHEFM. Would you

(21:44):
like me to explain?

Speaker 2 (21:44):
Yeah, what is it you labored?

Speaker 4 (21:46):
So?

Speaker 3 (21:46):
When I was at Smith Island last weekend with my
significant other and her friend and the dogs, I overheard
a conversation between the owner of the airbnb who I
was talking with out on her porch, when a neighbor
came up and said, hey, Jemma, that's the end of
the air, and be on her. I could really use
a little help, you know, mowing my yard at some
point in time this week. And trust me, from the
looks of it, she could have used the help because

(22:07):
it was starting to grow and it was a little
you know, it was locidly. Somebody's gonna call the ho way.

Speaker 2 (22:13):
So what did you do? Put on your cape and uh.

Speaker 3 (22:15):
Well, you've just dropped. I heard that conversation. Jimmy comes
back over to commits with me some more and I
was like, Hey, say, does your neighbor need a little
help with her yard? She needs someone to help her
mow it. Ah, help, And so out comes the mower
and guess what I'm doing mowing the yard for the

(22:35):
first time since I was like a kid in high school.

Speaker 2 (22:38):
That's been a long time since you've done it. Was
it like you remembered?

Speaker 3 (22:41):
It was easier. You're stronger now, yes, bigger, stronger, able
to push this thing around. But the why it was
easier because I didn't have to bag the grass clippings.
Iways used to screw that up as a kid growing
up in Texas. I'd spill it all over the yard.
And then i'd have to look, that's still a.

Speaker 2 (22:56):
Pain in the butt to do.

Speaker 4 (22:57):
Well. Does this encourage you or make you want to
home so you can do this more often for your
own place.

Speaker 3 (23:03):
I'd like to say yes, but I can't say that, honestly.
And here's why, because doing it as a one off
was nostalgic. Doing it a couple of times might be
good therapy, good for the soul, might also be good
cardio workout. I've got to do this whole five k
and ten k thing coming up in October, so much
more than that. No, I don't know. If I had

(23:23):
to do it every week, I don't know that I
could bear doing it. I'd get sick of it really quickly,
I'm sure.

Speaker 2 (23:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (23:29):
Well, did this neighbor also come out with a picture
of country Time lemonade so that you could cool down
on a hot day?

Speaker 3 (23:37):
Come to think of it, I provided my own gatorade,
and I could have used some country Time eliminade. Hey,
I got the yard done, Jim. For your neighbors, look
all right, country Town lemonade after you move your yard,
ask you doctor if you tried it for you. But anyway,
it was very therapeutic. To have done this for the

(23:57):
first time since I was a kid. Have you ever
had something that brought back some nostalgia that was like therapeutic?

be a replication. It was a real croissant in Resin.
I don't know why she thought that would be a
good idea, but hey, maybe she's a fan of croissants.

Speaker 3 (26:35):

Speaker 2 (27:04):
But what I send you amount of money was going
for Courtney.

Speaker 3 (27:07):

Speaker 4 (27:09):
The only place that kind of would make sense is
if it was in Florida.

Speaker 2 (27:12):
That's a big kinda there, Chilli.

Speaker 3 (27:15):
I once had a neighbor and I thought this was
out who used a patio furniture for her living room furniture.

Speaker 2 (27:21):
That also sounds like something in Florida.

Speaker 3 (27:24):
Yeah, right, only we were in Rockville. Have you seen
anything kind of like crazy when it comes home to
court Chili personally? Or no?

Speaker 2 (27:33):
No, thankfully not yet.

Speaker 3 (27:34):
Robert listening in Pulsville, what'd you say? I saw this
chair that's weird, actually kind of cool.

Speaker 2 (27:39):
It looks like a balloon animal dog. It's all black
and it's actually shape like a balloon animal.

Speaker 3 (27:43):
That sounds very unique. Would you want one of those
in your life?

Speaker 2 (27:46):
I didn't want one now I think of it.

Speaker 4 (27:48):
Actually, I don't care what shape a chair is in
as long as my tailbone's not aching.

Speaker 2 (27:54):
Afterwards, What more?
