Speaker 1 (00:00):
What up.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
It's Kaylin from The Fred Show here with my new
buddy Jason Derulo.

Speaker 3 (00:04):
How you doing.

Speaker 1 (00:05):
I'm doing so good? How about you?

Speaker 3 (00:07):
So I'm good.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
I have to tell you my brain is saying, don't
do it, don't do it, don't sing his name. I
feel my intrusive thoughts want me to just sing Jason Derulo?
Did you realize that that was going to be such
a thing when you started doing that? No?

Speaker 1 (00:20):
I didn't. I'm gonna be honest with you know I didn't.

Speaker 3 (00:23):
It's you can't say your name.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
Obviously, you're doing our jingle ball in Chicago, and you
cannot say your name yes without singing it. I also
have to tell you that I'm a millennial. I think
you are too. And I was in college from twenty
nine to twenty thirteen, so like you are the soundtrack
for my entire college experience.

Speaker 1 (00:42):
Unbelievable. I love that you.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
Bring the vibes, every pregame, every like so yes forty event.
It's just the happy like I have the happiest memories
when I listen to your music.

Speaker 1 (00:52):
Oh that's that's a beautiful thing. Well, thank you very
much for that.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
Of course, of course, I mean how do you choose
like shows like jingle Ball, how do you know?

Speaker 3 (01:02):
I mean, you have so many hits.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
How do you pick a set list when you have
so many songs that everyone wants to hear?

Speaker 1 (01:09):
I just got to perform longer, man, you know what?

Speaker 3 (01:13):
I agree?

Speaker 4 (01:14):
No, honestly, I'm trying to figure it out because you know,
you gotta do short versions of joints, you know, make
it feel like the party, don't stop the party, you know.
So I'm gonna be doing, you know, shorter versions of songs,
but obviously I'm going to be able to fit them all.
But so the worst feeling is always when somebody's like,

(01:34):
oh my god, Jason, I love you, why didn't you
sing count?

Speaker 3 (01:37):
They're upset with you.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
You're right here, like I get so much time, and
you know, I'm working my ass here on stage off right.

Speaker 3 (01:45):
Oh my god.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
Well, so that's December ninth, We're going to see you
in Chicago, and I'm so excited.

Speaker 3 (01:49):
Sure, I'm so excited.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
What song do I absolutely need to get in?

Speaker 3 (01:53):
Oh my god?

Speaker 2 (01:54):
Okay, this is like picking a favorite child for me.

Speaker 3 (01:58):
My gut's telling me everyone's can follow the.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
God in my head. I mean I can't narrow it down.
We got trumpets as a sleeper. I mean we got
to have trumpets.

Speaker 4 (02:11):
Okay, we could do trumpets absolutely absolutely, all right, you
got it.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
You have a time going on. I think I just
saw you on like gm A the other day. I mean,
there's you.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
Are a busy man speaking of you know, you doing
our jingle Ball and always being so great to iHeart
in general. You're doing something really really awesome with Make
a Wish that I want to make sure to highlight.

Speaker 1 (02:32):
For sure.

Speaker 4 (02:33):
I'm super excited my brand new song Make Me Happy.

Speaker 1 (02:37):
I I just feel like the song was filled with
so much love and.

Speaker 4 (02:42):
The creation process was for all of the right reasons.
So I partnered up with Make a Wish, which.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
I'm really thankful for.

Speaker 4 (02:54):
But the saddest part about Make a Wish is that
all wishes don't get to come true, you know, and
I wanted to do my part too make as many
wishes come true in the shortest amount of time possible.
So utilizing my song Make Me Happy, we have a
Make Me Happy sweepstakes where the winner gets the whole
red carpet treatment. They get flown out to the jingle

(03:15):
Ball to meet me on stage in front of all
them people, and that they get flown out first class,
They get the rolls, roys, the red carpet, all the whole.

Speaker 3 (03:25):
Nine, as they should.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
Yeah, and all they all I got to do is
either do the viral dance and hashtag make Me Happy
sweepstakes or donate ten dollarsm more So, it's really simple.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
You have the cutest son that I think I've ever
seen in my entire life, and he's in all the videos,
you know, with your song that has gone viral on TikTok.
I mean, I can't go on TikTok without hearing it,
which is amazing.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
It's a great song.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
But does this make a wish thing mean a little
bit more to you? Being a dad yourself and you know,
now experiencing parenthood and all that.

Speaker 1 (03:59):
Uh, you know, I feel like it's opened my eyes
to new things, you know.

Speaker 4 (04:04):
And I'm, you know, incredibly blessed, and my family is
incredibly blessed. And you know, some sometimes the cards that
you're dealt aren't the cars that you expected, you know.
And I believe that we're all put on this earth
for a specific reason, and we're all supposed to to
give service, you know, to humanity, you know, and if

(04:27):
we can do our part, you know, and make somebody's
life a little more bright, you know, in one way
or another.

Speaker 1 (04:33):
I think it's it's coming upon us to do that.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
Yeah, I mean it's it's so special and I love
I love watching you guys do take I mean on
TikTok to you. I mean, you got me through the pandemic,
like you were always yes, you were just you were
speaking of people's gifts, like you're just always so happy
and positive and like doing backflips, which I you know,
scares me a little bit. We need to be careful,
we need to protect Jason, Drula, but I just love

(04:59):
seeing you that side of you, like as a dad,
and you're always spreading it forward, which I think the
whole make Me Happy single is about.

Speaker 3 (05:07):
I mean obviously right.

Speaker 4 (05:08):
Yes, yes, yes, no, thank you so much for that. Yeah, Jenda, pandemic,
we had a lot of fun. I was trying to
figure social media out.

Speaker 3 (05:17):
I think you figured it out.

Speaker 4 (05:18):
Yeah you did. I was posting like six times a
day to figure it out.

Speaker 1 (05:23):
You know.

Speaker 4 (05:23):
That was my That was it was literally my uh.
I was kind of regurgitating all of the content that
I could possibly, you know, just give to the world.
And I was just trying to learn what to do,
what made people take, what people liked, what they didn't like.
I was posting everything, but I had a six post quota,

(05:45):
so I had to meet that quota.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
So I was doing all kinds of things.

Speaker 2 (05:47):
Yeah, I mean you, I mean you just I don't know.
It was such a dark time and I think even
right now our world is like a little crazy.

Speaker 3 (05:54):
Speaking of how busy you are, you, I'm.

Speaker 2 (05:56):
Kind of so you're doing something coming up in Vegas,
but I am I I'm manifesting personally. I think you
need like a full residency. I mean, tell me what
you're doing in Vegas first, but I think you need
like a full ass residency for sure.

Speaker 1 (06:09):
So I had a full residency in Vegas.

Speaker 4 (06:12):
But again yeah, so yeah, it was sold out, so
people weren't able to get tickets, and there was a
lot of upset fans that didn't get tickets. So we
decided to do two more dates before the year was out.
So on the twenty eighth and twenty ninth, for the
New Year's weekend, we have two hu monkeys on dates
coming up, So really excited.

Speaker 1 (06:32):
It's a Voltaire in the Venetian Okay.

Speaker 3 (06:35):
Oh yeah, that's really cool spot, isn't it. Like it's
like an old Vegas vibe.

Speaker 1 (06:39):
Yeah yeah, And all of the walls are like they
come alive. There's like all part of the show.

Speaker 3 (06:44):
Okay, all right, well awesome.

Speaker 2 (06:45):
I was I was a fan who couldn't get tickets,
so that's why I'm manifesting another full ass residency to that.

Speaker 3 (06:51):
But you know so much, try my best.

Speaker 2 (06:54):
Yeah all right, Well, I know you're a busy man.
Do you want to do you have any other new
music coming up?

Speaker 3 (07:00):
Anything else you want to tease? Obviously we got Vegas, we.

Speaker 2 (07:03):
Got jingle Ball, we have your partnership with Make a
Wish and obviously TikTok always.

Speaker 1 (07:09):
Yeah, no, you covered everything. Thank you so much.

Speaker 3 (07:11):
Of course, great to talk to you. Thank you for
doing this.

Speaker 1 (07:14):
Likewise my pleasure. I'll see you soon.

Speaker 3 (07:15):
Wake up more pread
