Speaker 1 (00:00):
Caitlin's Entertainment report. He's on the Fresh Show.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
I have to start out with a pretty sad story.
Less than a week after twenty eight athletes, coaches and
loved ones were taken in that tragic plane collision, US
figure skating is now paying tribute to them with some
of the rising star's best routines set to really somber music.
The video shows a sixteen year old Corey Hainos, who
notably landed a triple axle at the US National Development
(00:26):
Camp in Wichita, Kansas, hours before he boarded that flight.
Angela Yang and Sean Kay, the eleven year old ice
dancing pair from the University of Delaware Figure Skating Club,
were also included in the moving montage, which showed a
clip of their first place routine from the Midwestern Sectional
US Ice Dance Final. At least fifty five bodies have
(00:47):
been recovered since the crash, with a large number of
them with ties to the US figure skating community, and
it's just absolutely tragic. Switching gears to Beyonce's dad, Matthew Knowles,
who is giving a one undred percent of the credit
to his daughter for her Album of the Year win
at the Grammys, saying it has absolutely nothing to do
with jay Z's complaints yester year last year about her
(01:09):
not ever winning that award. He says, people playing into
that narrative clearly don't get how the Grammy voting process works. Matthew,
who's been a voting member for seventeen years and is
on the Grammy board that picks the nominated album says
they listen to thousands of songs, including full albums, then
they debate which albums should be nominated, and it's up
(01:30):
to the voting members to then decide the winners. Now,
speaking of that, John Rich of country duo Big and
Rich so to social to call out the Grammys for
Beyonce's win. He wrote, Folks are asking me how do
music award shows work. Labels, publishers all have blocks of votes.
They make deals with each other. You vote for mine,
I'll vote for yours type thing. It has zero to
(01:50):
do with who made the best music. Thus Beyonce with
Country Album of the Year. Nice right. The same thing
is true with the CMAS, ACM's billboard, etc. All work
exactly the same less or. He wrote this the day after,
but he said last night the Grammys outed themselves in
a big way. I think that sucks to win an
award and see so many people. I mean, I've been
in the comments and a lot of people are saying
(02:12):
it's because jay Z threw a fit. I don't know
if you guys remember, but he said, hey, she's breaking
all these records, but she never won the biggest award.
Speaker 1 (02:18):
And I don't know if I think that's good enough.
I don't know that. I think people, I don't think
that's that's not why. I don't know that him throwing
a fit just changes the trajectory of that of that category.
I don't agree, of course not.
Speaker 2 (02:30):
And like again, your personal opinion of who should have
won doesn't need to dictate the entire situation of who wins.
And it's just weird to not like Charity one.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
It's over and welcome to the internet. I don't like it.
You can say it in the comments. That makes it true,
and that's that.
Speaker 2 (02:47):
I thought it was a really cool moment and I
think it's really amazing to be able to do different genres.
I would love to have her now do like a
damn rock album, like I think that would be very cool.
But it's a bummer in the comments, so don't go there,
you'll get real sad today. By the way, if you
miss any part of our show, The Fred Show, you
can listen to everything. It's all up there on the free,
new and improved iHeartRadio app.
