They talk better than they say. These are the radio
blogs on the Fread Show Life.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
We're writing in our diaries, except we say him aloud.
We call him blogs Jason Brown.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
Yes I need an explanation, Go okay, thank you, dear blog.

Speaker 3 (00:38):
So, if anyone that is listening that lives with a
significant other, maybe they have a hobby or something that
is just a tad bit annoying. So my boyfriend Mike
last night decided that he is a coin counter. Now
he bought a coin counting machine, and so we have

(00:59):
like bags of change because you know, like when you
have like changing your pocket, we throw it in like
a receptacle. Whatever the receptacle keep getting gets filled and filled.
So we dump it in these bags. So there's just
bags of coins in the closet. So he decides that
he now, where's.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
He getting all these coins? Where's he getting all the
cash for the points? Well, he pays a lot of
stuff in cash till he still use That's what I mean, Like, yeah,
I don't think.

Speaker 3 (01:20):
You own your own business. I don't even think he
has a debit card, like I think, like it's all
like cash.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
So so in cash, hand me the money.

Speaker 3 (01:32):
He's really old school, like he doesn't like using a
card for anything, Like I don't know.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
I just like that. It's like that too.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
We call them sonic, Like why are you walking around
with all them coins in?

Speaker 1 (01:42):
It's always coins? Yeah, I don't know. So we've all
these changes.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
So he purchased this like coin counter slash like organizer things,
so you're just like it's this like black machine that
you plug in the wall and you dump coins in
the top of it and it counts it and sorts
it into like all these different little compartments and whatever.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
And so he decided he was going to do it,
and where are we gonna do it.

Speaker 3 (02:07):
We're gonna do it at the foot of the bed
and we're gonna start last night.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
Okay, he's such a great place.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
The bedroom is a great place night to make a
lot of noise with your coins.

Speaker 3 (02:18):
So it's seven o'clock he starts doing this. Now I'm
talking about hours. There were hours of this, and and
I'm just sitting there and I'm listening, and it's great, Right,
he's here's a hobby. I guess, now, great, we love that.
But then it starts getting to the point where I'm
trying to go to bed. So I'm laying in bed.
The dogs are scared because there's this loud machine, so
they're freaking out, jumping on and off the bed, growling

(02:39):
at it, trying to like trying to attack it, blah
blah blah.

Speaker 1 (02:42):
So I'm trying to like settle them down. I get into.

Speaker 3 (02:44):
Bed, like full on, like get into bed, put the
covers on, turn the TV on. I'm laying there like
bro I'm going to bed like it's time by have
at three o'clock wake up and going to bed. And
he's just like handful, handful, handful.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
The place to do this. I'm like living room, the kitchen,
any other.

Speaker 3 (03:04):
The front porch, anywhere else, but where we're at So
finally it was nine thirty and I sat up and
I just looked at him, and he's like, what's wrong.
I was like nothing, and so that he's just like
he looked at the dog and he was like, all right,
I think we can stop for tonight.

Speaker 1 (03:20):
I was like, yeah, okay, thank you.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
I just want to where he's getting all these coins from.

Speaker 1 (03:24):
Yeah, give you cash. What is the point of sorting that?

Speaker 2 (03:27):
You know what?

Speaker 3 (03:28):
I haven't heard the plan after we sort so that
I don't know, we.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
Go to the bank with all this and then you
get cash that use an either spender put in the
banks where there's a lot of steps.

Speaker 3 (03:38):
But like now I have a bag of quarters, I
have a bag of nickels, I have a bag of pennies.
So now we're walking into the bank with the sorted
bags for them just to dump it in their own
machine and to count it.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
Probably, so I don't know. Maybe it's just a hobby,
which is fine. We love a hobby.

Speaker 3 (03:53):
But nothing that's that loud at nine thirty and I
just imagine handfuls of coins dropping into a machine gene
for hours.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
Why don't just tell him I'm trying to go back.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
Wait, till he learns about bitcoin, wait till he learns
about Apple pay. Wait, wait till Shelly should hang out
because I think she still writes.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
He writes checks, he has a check book. I don't
even have her. Yeah, he's a shocks and coins through
paper things.

Speaker 1 (04:19):
Yeah. Oh god, So that was my night last yet nights.
I'm in the bedroom, that's exactly.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
And I saw the video on your TikTok and I
need to understand, but I but I think I do
understand because I've met I've met Mike the Mechanics, so
I think I think I know

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
