So I hurt my hip at the gym and ended
up at Phi Urgent Care.
Speaker 4 (00:33):
They really took care of me.
Speaker 5 (00:35):
They referred me to one of their.
Speaker 1 (00:36):
Physios and while working on my core, the physio noticed
I was walking a little oddly, so she refers me
to a Vhi podiatrist and he was able to help
me correct my gait.
Speaker 5 (00:47):
So yeah, it was. It was really great how Vhi
was able to connect all the dots.
Speaker 6 (00:54):
Vhi, because your health means everything.
Speaker 5 (01:16):
Where are we at in society today? Come after me.
I'm a man, I'm forty, Go ahead, make my day.
Speaker 7 (01:26):
Every single week. I put my freaking heart and soul
into this. I don't go out there and laugh.
Speaker 5 (01:30):
It's not funny.
Speaker 7 (01:31):
Nothing's funny to me.
Speaker 5 (01:32):
I don't want to go out there and get embarrassed
on Monday night football.
Speaker 1 (01:35):
For everybody, I think that at the beginning of a
beautiful friendship.
Speaker 3 (01:39):
So I ain't nothing changed from yesterday. Still the same
person I was yesterday, and I got the same thing
for you that I had yesterday.
Speaker 4 (01:47):
You know why I'm here.
Speaker 5 (01:49):
You play to win the game.
Speaker 7 (01:52):
You don't play to just play it. That's a great
thing about sports. You play to win, and I don't
care if you don't have any wins. You go play
to win. When you start telling me it doesn't matter,
through time, get out.
Speaker 8 (02:10):
For the matter.
Speaker 7 (02:12):
There are so many things that Detroit sports fans right
now have a really good feel for, and rightfully so,
they have a lot to be thankful for. Welcome everybody
on a tully More Tuesday. Glad you're with us on
Exus and Bros. Throughout the state of Michigan. We're with
you Monday through Friday, six until nine. What a game
(02:34):
by Kate Cunningham and the Pistons. So there's a couple
of different ways you can look at this. It depends
on your perspective. Piston stage a late comeback. They're down
thirteen in the fourth quarter. They use overtime to beat
to Washington one thirty seven five, extend their winning streak
to seven straight games. I don't care who you beat,
(02:55):
I don't care how you beat them, more oftentimes than not,
as long as you win. And I think a lot
of people feel the same way. Washington's terrible. They're one
in ten. So what Detrit's playing without six rotational players.
You'd like Isaiah Stewart to dress up more than overalls,
(03:17):
but at least he was on the bench. Caid Cunningham
was simply spectacular forty five points, a career high forty
six points excuse me, twelve rebounds, eleven assists, five steals
that needs to be mentioned, only two turnovers, which needs
(03:40):
to be stressed. It's his first triple double of the year,
and he becomes the first player to ever have that
stat line according to stat mues. Dennis Jenkins added a
career high two dozen. He scored sixteen of his twenty
four in the fourth quarter that included that clutch threat
(04:00):
from the corners time expired in regulation. Jalen Dern had
another double double nineteen points, fourteen rebounds, and C. J.
McCollum led Washington with forty two Cunningham, I misspoke there.
Cunningham joins Michael Jordan as the only players with that
stat line. But and that's when I say stat line.
(04:24):
At least forty points, at least ten boards, at least
ten assists, and at least five steals. There's your stat line,
all right, forty ten, ten and.
Speaker 5 (04:32):
Five Who players ever?
Speaker 7 (04:33):
That's pretty cool, hey, Michael Jordan, only players ever to
have that stat line? All right? Then you look at
the thirty one misses by Kate Cunningham. He was fourteen
of forty five from the floor. That is the most
by any player since the merger of the NBA and
(04:56):
ABA nineteen seventy six. Now, people outside of Detroit, somebody
arguing for Jannis Sante te Coompo or Victor Webinyamo or
Nikola Jokics MVP, understand it's only eleven games can use
(05:17):
that latter number or numbers against Kate Cunningham. I don't care.
And the reason I don't care is because this team
was down. He knew what he had to do late.
He got a lot of people involved. You can't say
he didn't get people involved. He had eleven assists. He
(05:40):
was willing to help in other areas. You can't admit
that because he had twelve rebounds and five steals. He's
been doing a much better job of taking care of
the basketball. And this sounds corny, I know, but he's
inspired others. There's something to that. I truly believe that
he He's not one of those guys who just points
(06:03):
to his name on the back of the jersey. He's
not the guy who's constantly going like this on the
front of the jersey. He's not the guy who screams
into a camera. He's not the guy who stares down
somebody after a dunk and snarls at them and tries
to act tough. All he does is go about and
play his ass off. And I think that is really
(06:27):
really important to note. I know, in a world today
in which sports is about, hey, look at what I've done,
Look at me, please, everybody shine the light on me,
and that's what people gravitate toward. Personally, I like this
(06:48):
kind of guy. This is the stuff that I think
is really impressive. That you can go at him, and
we've seen it. When people are going to learn this,
I hope they learn it pretty quick, or maybe I
hope they don't. You can go at him and then
look what happens, and there is there was. There was
(07:11):
a moment last night that we'll get to. That's exactly
what happened. Let me get to the phone lines, the
Meyer hotline eight sixty six, eight three, eight forty three.
Right out of the gate on an early Tollymore Tuesday morning.
Who do we got?
Speaker 5 (07:23):
Yeah, it's Mark and gun Lake.
Speaker 9 (07:24):
He's about to start his bus route, fired off about
the Pistons win.
Speaker 7 (07:28):
Hi, Mark, how are you buddy?
Speaker 8 (07:31):
Hey, good morning, Chep. How you doing.
Speaker 7 (07:33):
I'm doing great? Great.
Speaker 8 (07:36):
My favorite play last night when green reddish shot was
coming off the front of the rim and he had
the presence of mind that cut to the basket and
during got the ball and feed it to him for
that dunk. I thought that was just that was I mean,
the court sense on that was perfect on that play.
But I loved there was a lot of great plays
in that game last night. Washington looked really tough, but
(07:59):
we had six guys on the bench that could be
a good starting side for the NBA. But I want
to hear what your favorite play was. I'll let you
go and have a great day.
Speaker 7 (08:07):
Yeah, you too. I think my favorite moment there was
a It wasn't necessarily a play, but there was a
favorite moment in which Kid Cunningham took a ball to
the to the rack and Cam Whitmore blocked it out
of bounds and then stood over him like I own you,
(08:32):
Like this is what I'm about. People think you're a superstar.
I think again, and Kid Cunningham from that moment embarrassed
Whitmore and the rest of the Wizards. Do you remember
that play?
Speaker 10 (08:50):
Yeah? I do.
Speaker 5 (08:51):
Yeah, I think that's a great call by you.
Speaker 7 (08:53):
Yeah. So I know it's not I know it's not
necessarily one specific play, but I do believe that that's
the way you handle your business.
Speaker 9 (09:08):
Well, and it could have been some sort of a
turning point in some respects, maybe an attitude, right.
Speaker 7 (09:15):
Yeah, I don't that's a good question. I don't know.
I really don't. I don't know. If I don't know,
if there are that that's one specific turning point, if
a guy can I don't think Kid Cunningham needs to
catch fire, for example. I don't think it has to
be anything like where Okay, now I'm lit. Here we go.
(09:38):
Everybody get out of the way.
Speaker 5 (09:39):
Yeah, Like I wasn't before, but now I am. I don't.
I don't either, to be clear, I just I think
seemed to tart.
Speaker 7 (09:46):
Yeah, it's just what he did after that, scoring seventeen points,
I thought was really impressive. But it's what I It's
like I said, what I like most about him is
he he just goes about his business the right way,
and I think that's really cool, very cool. I know,
(10:07):
we got to get to a break. There's a lot
of sports to get to, including a little football game
that took place last night that I'm sure you were
switching back and forth too, and some additional news including
Kid Cunningham winning Eastern Conference Player of the Week. We
get to all that and more as we just get
rolling here on a tully More Tuesday. Brought to you

He claims he brought the mullet back, his short shorts
are a bit too short, and he's nowhere to be

Speaker 4 (10:40):
There's one Heineken zero zero.
Speaker 3 (10:42):
But he's our best mate, and even though he's always
banging on about.
Speaker 2 (10:46):
Dust ninety percent past of leisure.
Speaker 3 (10:49):
There's no one we'd rather watch the match to the
sports that bring us together. Heineken zero zero with us
talked about him.
Speaker 11 (11:01):
You know, it's amazing what he's been able to do
and how he's helped carry this team, you know, and
maybe the plays when it matters most. I think we've
been in so many close games down the stretch and
you've been damn near unstoppable in those moments. So for
him to be recognized, I think it's awesome.
Speaker 7 (11:19):
You know, I'd be you.
Speaker 11 (11:20):
Know, neglecting what Jalen Duran has been done doing this
week also if I didn't mention it. So Kade was
one and JD was won a because he was a
huge part of our successes as well, and he's been
dominant through this week.
Speaker 5 (11:37):
You know also, so I'd be interested to see the voting.
But I think those two guys had to be the
best this week.
Speaker 11 (11:43):
Had to offer.
Speaker 7 (11:46):
Well said, that's JB. Bickerstaff, Piston's head coach, no doubt
about it. I mean it continues. There are certain players
you like right away and then it's hard for them
to tell you with their play that you're going to
be disappointed. I've liked Jalen Duran for a while. I
think he's a really good player. I think he has
(12:08):
flaws in his game, just like every player has flaws
in their game. I think he's athletic, and I think
he's a guy you can help a team build around.
I don't think he's their best player. That's Kate Cunningham.
Kate Cunnham is one of the best players in the world.
Jalen Durn is starting to become more of a leader,
(12:29):
more aggressive. Nineteen points, fourteen rebounds, okay, six of ten
from the floor. I know he's not Kareem Abdul Jabbar
never said he was. Guards seem to be able to
expand their game much easier with more fluidity than somebody
like a big guy. I would love to see Jalen
(12:51):
Duran become became Elijah Wan who wouldn't great feet, solid shooter,
really good free throw shooter. Wish during it made that
second free throw down the stretch. But he's growing a
little bit, and I don't know what the ceiling is.
It'd be a great question for coaches, what's his ceiling,
(13:12):
what's his offensive game ceiling? Like, we want to see
his game expand offensively. I understand that is it where
it needs to be? He will probably tell you it's not.
I mean, that's the beauty of what a lot of
these young guys have. They're not going to be satisfied
at all with what they've done so far or what
(13:35):
they are doing. Okay, and he's just like that too,
I might add, He's a guy who's going to strive
to get better. I'm excited for that. I think you
should be too. With Kate Cunningham, it's hard to imagine
(13:55):
a guy getting better than what type of performance he
put on last night. One of the shooting, that's fine.
I mean you're going to have all kinds of when
you have the ball in your hands as much as
he does and you're taking as many shots and you're
forced to take as many shots. I mean, Javonte Green
is starting next to him. Ron Holland started for the
(14:15):
first time, and you got Duncan Robinson off the bench.
You had Chas Lanier who had more minutes off the bench.
Their first round pick than anybody else had eight points.
I'm sorry he didn't have the most. Darris Jenkins had
the most. Okay, so with Danis Jenkins thirty four minutes
(14:35):
in twenty four points and Paul Reid had thirteen. And
then you know, Bobby Clingman came off the bench for
a spell as well. It's a short bench. And when
you've got no Tobias Harris and you've got no obviously
Jade and Ivy, and you don't have Marcus Sasser, and
you don't have Isaiah Stewart, those are those are big blows.
(14:55):
I mean, they just signed Wendell Moore and you know
he was ready to go just in case. So love
the story, Love it, absolutely love. How can you not
love a story about Dennis Jenkins, you know, playing for
the Cruise and now coming in and scoring a career
high twenty four points and it was efficient. It is
(15:17):
nine to seventeen from the floor. That's a big that's
a big deal. Do they beat anybody but Washington last night?
I don't know, and neither do you. I don't care.
Here's what I care about. They've won nine of their
first eleven games. They've won seven straight games. People are
starting to take notice. And when you get this type
of feeling, coaches will tell you whether you believe in
(15:38):
momentum or not. You get this type of feeling, there
is a there's a strong sense of belief within their
locker room, and rightfully so. And it's led by Kate Cunningham.
So Mark had called in and said, what was your
favorite moment? For me? That it was actually when Cam
Whittmore stood over Kate Cunningham and pulled his shirt out
(16:01):
a little bit and acted like he's the boss. And
Kate Cunningham didn't get up at his grill, didn't use
a finger and pointing in his face, didn't yell at
him or anything like that. He just got up and
he said, you know what I'm gonna do. And there
was four and a half minutes left to go in
the game. Easy to do that in the fourth quarter,
isn't it? Seriously, when your team is up eight or whatever.
(16:22):
It was easy to do that in the fourth quarter,
And sounded like Whitmore didn't play well, he was fine
twenty points. What happened right after that? Kid Cunningham had
seventeen points, four rebounds to assist a steal in a
block in the last four and a half minutes and
(16:45):
then some He almost outscored Cam Whitmer Whitmore in his
twenty nine minutes of play. Overall, that tells you something
about kid Cunningham. It tells you how effective he can
be and how un nerved he can be. Love that
about him. Let's go back to the phone lines. Meyer
hotline need six six eight three three. Good morning, who's up?
(17:09):
We got Zach Piston's talk. Hi, Zach, good morning, sir.
Speaker 10 (17:16):
Want how you doing good?
Speaker 7 (17:18):
What's going on?
Speaker 10 (17:21):
Yeah? I just had a quick thought. You know, I
watched the whole Pistons game last night and uh more
or less on the edge of my seat because of
my parlay, but uh took over.
Speaker 7 (17:32):
Time to do it. At least you got it. I'm
happy for you.
Speaker 10 (17:37):
Sure did. I needed uh needed Jalen's other his last
rebound there, so we got it. But uh good, I
was just kind of I know we were shorthanded a
little bit last night, but what do you I was
watching that game and obviously you're going overtime and all
these players are gassed and stuff like that. I have
a couple of points and this one is, uh, you know,
(18:01):
you look at teams around the league and you take
out one one player, you know, you take out one
star player, and uh, what's their longevity to be successful?
And for me, I think with the off season additions
and the people that left and stuff like that, I mean,
you take Kate out of this lineup for for a
(18:22):
stretch at time, and and I'm I'm worried about that
because this this team is I think very underwhelming without
Kid and and I. It's one of those things where, uh,
an injury. You could say that about all these different teams,
(18:43):
but or even follow trouble, but this Pistons team goes
nowhere without Kate on the floor agreed, yep?
Speaker 7 (18:52):
Well yeah, and on the floor or in the lineup
in general. I mean they can get by without him
if he you know, he rests sixty seven minutes so overall,
but yeah, he's gonna have to log a lot of minutes.
I agree with you.
Speaker 10 (19:03):
Yep, go ahead, Yeah, I meant on the floor, on
the floor, yes, And uh, I just you know, Jenkins,
he had a he had a breakout game last night,
which is great for him. But I think where you
really miss, you really miss Jade and Ivy at least
(19:24):
I do, and I would think Piston Sands do too,
because it takes away I mean that game last night,
rather you're playing the one in ten Wizards whatever. You know,
that's an NBA team, but you know, you look at that,
you look at that game before before it starts, and
you think this should be a double digit win without hesitation.
(19:48):
And so I just I worry about the longevity. And
Kate and Jayden looked absolutely gassed last night, and I
wonder how long that can last going throughout the season
when you only get into February March. Stuff like that.
Speaker 7 (20:03):
Yeah, I think I think that is any I think
that's a very I think that's a very fair observation.
The only thing I would say to you, and thanks
for the phone call. I'm glad you got your parlay.
The thing I would say to you is that there
are others who are averaging a lot more minutes than
they are, Okay, I mean, Luka, Doncic averages thirty seven
minutes a game. Austin Reeves right now is averaging thirty
(20:26):
seven thirty six minutes a game. Amen Thompson is averaging
thirty six minutes a game. These guys are not among
the top ten in average minutes per game, but at
least that from what I can tell. But I understand
exactly where you're coming from. I guess I would ask
you this, is there another team who has but one superstar?
(20:50):
You can't say the Lakers because they've got Lebron James
and Luka Doncic. I don't think Austin Reeves is a superstar.
Is there another team that can hang with teams at all?
If they lose their main guy, you lose if a
certain player is out picked, the superstar that Donovan Mitchell.
(21:13):
Do you think Cleveland rolls to sixty four wins last
year without Donovan Mitchell? Probably not?
Speaker 9 (21:18):
Well, where my mind immediately goes as the Pacers. They
lose Tyrese Haliburton, they start the season one to nine.
Speaker 7 (21:25):
Yeah, and Pascal Siakam's really good, right, you're right. I
mean that's a good example. That's a really good example.
We'll get more into that on the other side. I
appreciate it. It's a really good point. I'm not going
to disregard it. I just don't think Detroit's in a
unique situation. By the way, seven thirty five, Jeff Chennick
will join us. He's been coaching at Wisconsin, in Northwestern
(21:45):
and cal and Eastern Michigan, and he can relate to
what Dan Campbell went through on Sunday. He's gonna tell
us what an offensive coordinator does when they're not calling
the plays. He's going to join us seven thirty five
here on a tully More Tuesday on Axes and Bros.
Brought to you by Mitch Lion's Wealth and Mitge Lionswealth

He claims he brought the mulletback is short, shorts are
a bit too short, and he's nowhere to be found

Speaker 4 (22:17):
There's why Heinigen zero zero.
Speaker 3 (22:19):
But he's our best mate. And even though he's always
banging on about.
Speaker 2 (22:23):
Dust ninety percent passive.
Speaker 3 (22:25):
Leisure, there's no one we'd rather watch the match with.
To the sports that bring us together. Heineken zero Zero's.
Speaker 7 (22:41):
Thirty five After the Hour Welcome Back Hour from now.
Jeff Jennets is going to join us. He's coached a
lot of football. He's going to tell us what an
offensive coordinator does during a game when they're not calling plays.
In other words, what was John Morton's rule on Sunday.
I think it'll be a very interesting perspective for you.
Let me correct myself. I was just our last caller
(23:05):
was concerned about the amount of minutes that Cad Cunningham
is playing. I said that he's not in the top ten,
he's number two. It was not updated through last night,
where he had forty five minutes. I think he's averaging
thirty seven minutes a game, second behind Luka Doncic. I
wasn't discounting it either way. Jalen Duran's averaging twenty nine
minutes a game. I can sit there and try to
(23:26):
tell you they're young and it shouldn't matter. I don't
care how old you are. That's a lot of time
on the floor. The only thing I would say is
if you looked at the best teams, and Detroit's considered
one of the best teams at least through eleven games,
I don't know how much you feel through eighty two.
I don't know how confident you are that they can
(23:47):
keep up, not necessarily this pace, but they've become one
of the better teams at least in the Eastern Conference,
and we said before the season began, I expect them
to be a top four team. I don't think that's
out of line. I don't think that's ridiculous to have
that type of expectation. I love this success that Detroit
(24:07):
sports teams are having right now, and really the state
of Michigan sports teams. I love that Michigan State one
and against Arkansas. Michigan's going to play tonight against wake
Forest at Little Casars Arena, and Michigan's got a ranked
football team, a ranked hockey team, and a ranked basketball team.
Michigan State has a ranked basketball team and a hockey team.
I love that expectation, all right. That the Lions should
(24:31):
be in the super Bowl. That's good. That the Red
Wing should make the playoffs, that's good. Get out of
that three game funk. They'll do that tomorrow against the
Anaheim at home. That the Pistons should be where they are.
You and I have talked about the Tigers before every team, though,
I would guess they lose their key guy. I think
(24:54):
New York is different without Jalen Brunson, all right. I
think Cleveland is different without Donovan Mitchell or Evan Mobley,
All right, one of the two. There's no question the
Lakers are different with all Luka Doncic. I don't know
how you can deny that Dallas stinks right now, do
they not? Trent? I mean, look at they lost again
last night, they lost to Milwaukee. Lauky's Yeah, if Milwaukee's
(25:19):
without Janni Sante Takeompo, that's a problem, isn't it. Yes,
Dallas is the part of the reason Dallas is struggling
so much because they don't have Kyrie Irving. They don't
have they don't have Anthony NB Davis. So I guess
I don't think Detroit is as unique as anybody might think.
(25:41):
Denver is a completely different basketball team. I believe if
Nikola Jokic is hurt.
Speaker 9 (25:49):
Yeah, the Pistons, they lean on their star players, and
it's no different than what team doesn't good team in
the league, right, you know?
Speaker 7 (25:56):
And I guess think Kilges Alexander's got help. You're right, yeah,
But do you think they'd be ten and one without him?
Of course say no. I would say no, just my opinion,
So I think there's something to that. Kate Cunningham, by
the way, was named Eastern Conference Player of the week,
he averaged thirty points per game, ten assists per game,
(26:17):
and he shot fifty five percent. Last night, he shot
thirty one percent, but most of his first triple double
of the year. Nikola Jokic, who has more triple doubles
than anybody six, was named Western Conference Player of the Week.
Michigan's going to play wake for us. As I mentioned,
both teams tow and zero. Latest college basketball poets perdueit
one Houston BYU, Yukon and Arizona. Michigan is eighth. MSU
(26:42):
was seventeenth last night. In football, was that a good game?
Or was that a boring game?
Speaker 10 (26:47):
To you?
Speaker 9 (26:50):
I lean good actually, because I think they're two solid
teams defensive battle. You and I always talk about how
we don't necessarily need high flying offense to be entertained.
I think the masses would say that was boring.
Speaker 7 (27:02):
I would like, I don't need high flying offenses. I
could use a little offense, though. I mean, when Jordan
Loves has thrown for eighty seven yards in the middle
of the third quarter, when you have the first scoreless
first half tie since two thousand and nine, and that's
what you had, and the game is ten to seven.
I get that both teams got good defenses. I was
(27:24):
told that both teams have really good offensive lines and
that they've got playmakers at the quarterback position. Yep, Philadelphia's
got really good skill players.
Speaker 5 (27:37):
And SODA's Green Bay.
Speaker 9 (27:38):
I mean, they might not have a Bona five number
one receiver, but they got a lot of really good ones.
Speaker 7 (27:44):
Yeah, they don't have a one receiver. The Bills don't
have a one receiver. I think we overreact when our
teams lose. So Detroit loses to Minnesota, Oh my god,
I mean, how did you let nine beat you? The
alter ego? How did you let that happen?
Speaker 5 (28:05):
To a second?
Speaker 7 (28:06):
You know, how did you let that happen? And then
they bounce back against Washington And there's a part of
any common fan would say, yeah, but Washington's not very good.
Fair enough. I've gone over what other teams the warts
that they have.
Speaker 9 (28:21):
We did that, Yes, right, what's the best? When each
team has you could argue, oh, what's the worst loss? Okay,
because here's what a lot of people say about the Lions.
Right now, you have beaten Chicago, who is two and zero,
and I say, well, but now there's six and three
so which is it. It's kind of like when your
college football team plays a top twenty five team, If
(28:43):
that team is top twenty five at the time, you're like,
that's a good win for us.
Speaker 7 (28:49):
If by the end of the season they're not top
twenty five, you're going, that was a mirage.
Speaker 9 (28:55):
Yeah, and separate discussions. That's why preseason rankings are so
stupid because.
Speaker 7 (29:00):
Agreed, agreed, we got on top five. When that can
happen during that can happen a little bit later on
in a season. Yeah, but yeah, that's why I don't
like preseason top twenty fives at all. I think you
have to should play at least three weeks. But anyway,
same thing in the NFL. Well, you beat Chicago, you
blew them out of the out of Ford field. Yeah,
(29:20):
but Chicago wasn't very good at the time. Oh but
they are now at least that's what some people say.
They're tied for first, okay with Detroit. Detroit beat Cleveland.
Yeah the Cleveland stinks. Yeah, but they've just been in
Green Bay thirteen to ten. Right, Yep, you beat Cincinnati,
but Cincinnati is terrible, fair enough, and then you beat
(29:40):
Washington without you know, a really good player in Jaden
Daniels and Terry McLaurin. Okay, I get it. Are you
saying the same thing when they beat Tampa without their
tires starting secondary, you're conveniently leaving that out. Isn't that interesting?
Speaker 5 (29:57):
Yeah? It is.
Speaker 7 (29:58):
Yeah. So that's why I think it's really important to
keep it all in mind that every team is probably
going through this right now. I'll take the win over
Washington because if they didn't win it, you and I
would be freaking out. There are people, I'm sure in
Green Bay right now are going, see, we're really not
that good now. They're super nice there. So maybe they
(30:19):
aren't saying that unless you're the Bears. They're super nice
against with anybody bout Chicago, but they're probably saying that.
They're probably like, you know what, here's part of the
problem that we've had. We can't score, which is very
strange for most people outside of Green Bay who would think, well,
(30:41):
that's a team that can get the job done. I
said this yesterday leading up to the game. I said, remember,
this is a team that scored only ten points against
the Browns. This is a team that against the Panthers
scored thirteen points. And now last night, what do they do?
They score seven points. That's it. Now, it could be
(31:02):
a lot worse. It could be Washington. Washington had a gauntlet.
That was the talk in Washington. We've got a three
game gauntlet. It's going to be Kansas City, Seattle, and Detroit.
This is all part of a what was it five
game losing streak? Right, They lost to the Bears, the Cowboys, Chiefs, Seahawks,
(31:26):
allions five game losing streak. Chiefs outscored in twenty eight
to seven, Seahawks outscored the thirty eight to fourteen. Detroit
doubled them up forty four to twenty two, and it
wasn't that close. So they think they'll get a little
bit of a reprieve against Miami, who just be Buffalo
by the way. So every team is looking at it,
I'm sure with I don't know whether to believe or not.
(31:49):
INDI's pretty fired up. They should be. Do you think
they're completely all in when they reflect back and go,
oh my god, look at how we looked against Pittsburgh
a couple of weeks ago. So let's just be careful.
I don't know if there is a fan base that
feels like we should be the favorite, is my point
(32:13):
in the NFL. And that's, by the way, something Roger
Goodell probably absolutely embraces.
Speaker 10 (32:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (32:18):
Look, I was gonna say, if there was a fan
base that believes that, who the hell is it?
Speaker 7 (32:22):
Yeah? I mean, you could say it's Philly, but they
lost back to back games against Denver and the Giants,
and Giants just fired their coach, Brian Dable.
Speaker 5 (32:29):
You could say it's the Rams, but look at that division,
you know.
Speaker 7 (32:33):
Yeah, and maybe they're playing a wait and see game.
Maybe they're thinking, hey, wait a minute, we got Seattle
this weekend. Oh and by the way, we lost to
the Niners without some of their best players.
Speaker 9 (32:45):
They also shouldn't be eligible for this conversation because they
don't have a fan base.
Speaker 1 (32:49):
Ha ha.
Speaker 7 (32:49):
That's true. That's very true. That fan base doesn't show up,
especially at home against San Francisco. San Francisco took over
that stadium, So Green Bay by the way, five to
three to one. And nobody helped your fantasy league, including
mine with Jalen Hurtz or a J. Brown, nice job
targeting him three times. Thanks a lot, Jackass. Lions has
(33:11):
signed rookie defensive end A'mad hassenin to the practice squad.
Remember he starts six round Draftick. He was waived due
to an injury settlement in training camp, and now he's back.
They waved their six round pick, the same guy that
everybody was like, this is awesome. I'm so glad we
got this guy. I can't wait. He should start. They
(33:33):
waved him, nobody picked him up. Let's hope he contributes.
Red Wings are back on ice Thursday. They'll try and
snap a three game slide then and then The A's
Nick Kurtz in Atlanta's Drake Baldwin were named Rookies of
the Year. Kurtz was the fourteenth ever unanimous choice. He
had two ninety thirty six bombs eighty six RBIs. Baldwin's
(33:53):
a catcher, ranked first in ops among rookies, had nineteen
homers eighty runs driven. In tonight, it'll be managers of
the year. Who wins Manager of the Year in the
American League and the National League? Who wins manager of
the Year. John Schneider's got to win it for Toronto
or Dan Wilson in Seattle, Right, one of those two guys.
(34:16):
When you guess, yeah, I'd go Toronto. You'd go Toronto
if I had a vote. Yes, strictly because they won
what many people consider the best division in baseball. Yeah.
Speaker 9 (34:30):
Yeah, and they had some of the most wins. I mean, hell,
we were talking about it, how it almost didn't make
sense or it didn't compute. How they had more wins
than the Dodgers did and they ended up with home
field advantage in the World Series.
Speaker 7 (34:43):
That's a big deal, and I would agree with that.
I got to applaud that. But remember it's a regular
season award.
Speaker 5 (34:51):
Yeah, that's true.
Speaker 7 (34:53):
Okay, So I don't care what they do in the playoffs.
That shouldn't matter. That should not factor into your vote.
It can't factor into your vote.
Speaker 5 (35:01):
I guess.
Speaker 9 (35:02):
I'm just saying winning that many games and putting yourself
in position to have home field advantage anywhere, that should
matter a little bit.
Speaker 7 (35:11):
I'm not going to disagree with you. Yeah, I think
you're right about that. Okay, tell me who wins. So
we're in agreement that it's John Schneider and he's a
finalist with Steven Vote and Dan Wilson. Steve Vote wanted
a year ago, and rightfully so. We said middle of
the season, AJ Hinch would be in this conversation. He
is not in the conversation. Shouldn't be in the converse,
(35:33):
shouldn't be right? Should vote be in the conversation. You
gotta have three finalists, I would say yes, but I
think he finishes a distant third, not just because it's
unfair to say the Tigers kind of handed it to him.
You had to seize the moment. Let's not be hypocritical here.
A year ago, AJ Hinch was in the conversation, why
(35:54):
because Detroit made up all that ground? Yep, somebody had
to come back to the pack at the same time
Detroit was surging forward. Am I wrong?
Speaker 5 (36:00):
No, it's a two way street.
Speaker 7 (36:02):
You're right, right, So you can't play that game and
then not do it the next year for somebody other
than your guy. In the National League, Terry Francona is
a finalist, such a good manager. His team eighty three
and seventy nine made the playoffs. How many people would
(36:24):
have predicted that? Not many, So I don't know if
you would look at it from the year before. But
the year before Cincinnati was eight games under five hundred,
So that helps his cause without question. So he's part
of it. The other manager, the other guys up for it,
Pat Murphy from Milwaukee, who wanted a year ago, and
(36:46):
I think should win it again.
Speaker 9 (36:48):
Yeah, that's my pick too. Okay, ninety seven wins man, right,
isn't that what they won? Ninety seven?
Speaker 7 (36:53):
I believe they led all of baseball and victories.
Speaker 9 (36:56):
I believe, Yeah, ninety seven wins. They win the division
by five games, right.
Speaker 7 (37:01):
Philly won their division by thirteen games under Rob Thompson
with ninety six wins. Yeah. So, and they beat a
high spending Atlanta Braves team and a high spending New
York Mets team and ran away with it. So that's
a good question. It's a really good question. Milwaukee led
(37:24):
all of baseball in run differential with one hundred and
seventy two. Philadelphia I believe led all of baseball and
home wins. I'll have to verify that, but I think
they're fifty five home knockouts, So we'll see what happens there.
My guess is John Schneider. And it's hard to go
back to back in these types of awards. That's why
(37:48):
part of the reason Stephen vote too. I don't think
we'll go back to back. Does it matter? That Terry
Francona has won the award three times in his career.
I don't think so, Pat Murphy, I think it was
some special stuff a year ago. And remember he was
a pitcher in Major League Baseball when he played, didn't
(38:13):
have a long career. I think there's only three pitchers
who are managers. He doesn't look like a manager, does he.
He looks like a catcher, right, he looks like a catcher.
It's fun, yeah, yeah, But he's got a chance to
join Bobby Cox and Kevin Cash is the only Skippers
to win a Manager of the Year award and back
to back seasons. All right, Rob Thompson is a really
(38:36):
I mean, I think the National League's really hard and
the Phillies seven head. I think a manager of the
year since I don't know Charlie Manuel maybe either way.
That's what's up today. Here's our Mitchellon's well poll question today.
Has the NFL MVP become a quarterback Award? Has the
(38:57):
NFL MVP become a quarterback award? Yes? Or no? Who's
the last MVP to win? Who's the last non quarterback
NFL MVP?
Speaker 9 (39:09):
Adrian Peterson. I believe Adrian Peterson. Yeah, twelve, So.
Speaker 7 (39:13):
That's a long time, man. Yeah, that is a long
long time. And when did this happen? Why did this happen?
That's a good question. Why in the world are you
looking only at quarterbacks? I'd love to know the answer
to that.
Speaker 9 (39:34):
Is it social media? Could that be part of it?
Speaker 7 (39:39):
How long social media have been around?
Speaker 5 (39:41):
Around then?
Speaker 9 (39:42):
Around twenty thirteen fourteen is when social media got big
at least, I mean, it's been around longer than that,
but that's when it got mainstream.
Speaker 7 (39:49):
Okay, all right, So I'm just wanting to Peterson in
twenty twelve, that's the last non quarterback.
Speaker 5 (39:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (39:57):
I think right now you're looking at three players. You're
looking at Jonathan Taylor, You're looking at Matthew Stafford, and
you're looking at Drake may. I think those are the
three guys as of right now. And we've only been
through week ten, so going into week eleven. Anyway, you
can vote as often as you want at XP mornings
or at CHEP. Matt I'll retweet it and we'll give
(40:18):
you the results in the eight o'clock hour tomorrow. We
will give you some results when we come back from yesterday,
because we missed it. Jeff Jennings's going to join us
seven thirty five give us some expertise thoughts on what
he thought John Morton was doing during the game against
Washington while Dan Campbell's calling the plays.
Speaker 1 (40:36):
Brought to you by Heinniken zero zero, Get the facts,
Be drink Aware? Is it Drinkaware? Dot a e?
Speaker 2 (40:41):
He claims he brought.
Speaker 3 (40:42):
The mullet back, his short shorts are a bit too short,
and he's nowhere to be found when it's his round.
Speaker 4 (40:49):
There's one Heinniken zero zero.
Speaker 3 (40:51):
He's our best mate, and even though he's always banging
on about his dust past co leasion, there's no one
we'd rather watch. What's the magic to the sports that
bring us together? Heineken zero zero.
Speaker 12 (41:06):
