Speaker 3 (01:16):
Where are we at in society today? Come after me.

Speaker 4 (01:21):
I'm a man, I'm forty.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
Go ahead, make my day every single week. I put
my freaking heart and soul into this. I don't go
out there and laugh. It's not funny. Nothing's funny to me.

Speaker 5 (01:32):
I don't want to go out there and get embarrassed
on Monday night football for everybody.

Speaker 3 (01:36):
I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
So I ain't nothing changed from yesterday.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
Still the same person I was yesterday, and I got
the same thing.

Speaker 3 (01:45):
For you that I had yesterday. You know why I'm here.

Speaker 4 (01:49):
You play to win the day. You don't play to
just play it. That's a great thing about sports. You
play to win, and I don't care if you don't
have any wins. You go play to win. When you
start telling me it doesn't matter to retire, get out

(02:10):
for the matter.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
You're probably pretty upset today, and I don't blame you.
I'm unnerved by it as well. Welcome everybody on a
Wednesday here on ex'es and bros throughout the state of Michigan.
I'm Matt Shepherd. We're with you Monday through Friday, six
until nine. I'm expecting a lot of feedback today regarding
the Lions. I know you gave it a little bit

(02:34):
during Billy's show because the Huge show is from three
to six every day and the trade deadline was four o'clock,
so you got a couple of hours. But if you
didn't get your frustrations out, then this is why we're
here on the Meyer Hotline eight six, six, eight three, eight,
forty eight, forty three. The text line is Sports Radio

(02:56):
twenty one thousand. You know by now I mean the
Lions is able to stand pat at the deadline. Well,
their Loane acquisition was a practice squad player, Patriots guard
Jack Connelly, undrafted free agent out of Boston College. So
good for them. I didn't expect them to make a
massive move. I didn't expect them to do what the
Colts did and trading two first rounders for Sauce Gardner.

(03:18):
I didn't expect them to do what the Cowboys did.
Jerry Jones's mind is in its own space. I don't
understand how the hell you say goodbye to Michael Parsons,
But let's go out and get Logan Wilson for two years.
Quinnell Williams neither one who has the capability of taken
over a game the way that Michael Parsons does. But whatever,

(03:41):
let's not even dwell on that. What I can't figure
out is, and maybe this is just a message. What
I can figure out is how the Lions express this
message to their fan base thinking they're going to understand
it and be okay with it. I've never felt like
you run a team, any team, for a fan base,

(04:07):
do what the fans want to do. You don't do that,
you get in trouble, you'll get fired, you'll lose your job,
and you'll lose a lot of games too. But there
has to be an understanding of what your team needs,
and this team needs some help. You and I both
know that this team of trying to get offensive lineman

(04:28):
is not easy. No one said it was. That's all
I read on social media yesterday from people we've had
on this show, Mike Payton, for example. It's not easy
go out and get an offensive lineman. No kidding. It's
not easy making deals, But that's your job. Answer yourself

(04:49):
this question. How confident are you the Taylor Decker is
going to stay healthy for the next nine games. You
know you've already lost your left guard. Your center has
struggled the last couple of games. Not gonna panic. Your
right guard was injured in the last game and has

(05:10):
struggled the last couple of games. You have your right tackle.
That's just the offensive line. You felt you needed some
help opposite Aiden Hutchinson for a while, and stop, please
knock it off with the Marcus Davenport and Josh Pascal
are coming back. Banking on that makes no sense. It's ridiculous.

(05:39):
You banked on him, Marcus Davenport and Josh Pascal to
start the year. You got two games out of one.
The other one has been one big delay. You're kicking
it down the road. He might be ready by the
time camp starts, or be ready by the time the

(06:00):
season starts. Nope, he might be ready by week four
or five. Nope. Now he might be ready in December.
But you're banking on that. Okay, that should make everybody
feel really good. And then your secondary I just I
don't understand how you don't make any moves whatsoever? Are

(06:23):
you What are you protecting here? In terms of draft picks? Oh,
I forgot. I'm a hassanine is coming back A guy
we haven't even seen yet, a guy you're basing off
as a six round draft pick out of Boise State
is going to be a difference maker. If that's the case,

(06:48):
then this is a defining moment for Brad Holmes. As
much as we've supported him, as much as we've appreciated
what he's done, as bright as we think he is,
and we've said this for a couple of years now,
as much as we've trusted him, this is where you

(07:11):
get tested. This is the true test right here. Because
the needs were obvious, the opportunities made available by other
teams were there. We don't know what the cost was,
so it's unfair to say, absolutely, you've got to do
this deal. I wouldn't have given up a first round

(07:32):
draft pick for filling the blank. I sure wouldn't have
given up two first round picks for Sauce Gardner. Whatever.
This is the defining moment for him. He better win
the Super Bowl or he better get to the super Bowl.
Because the NFC, as you know, is wide open. The

(07:54):
Packers are not a menacing force. The Eagles went out
in a dret not one, but two even three needs
with a wide receiver. The Rams are really good. The
Seahawks are really good. They just up their ante a
little bit by grabbing a speedy wide receiver. You had

(08:17):
the opportunity and the need to do something, and you
chose not to do it. We would love to know
the details. We probably won't, but we'd love to know
what is required of it. And here's the reason that
I think so many Michigan slash Detroit sports fans are

(08:38):
upset is because we've heard it from all the other
general managers and we're tired of it. Now again, I'll reiterate,
you don't manage a team for fans, but you and
I have heard Scott Harris, I don't want them to
touch our top prospects. Rumors about our best overall player,

(09:03):
but I don't want to touch our top prospects. Steve Eiserman,
I'm not getting rid of my young players, and Brad Holmes.
I want to hold onto those draft picks, those same
draft picks who, yes, we have given you major kudos

(09:24):
for a'man Rossain Brown and Jamier Gibbs and Jack Campbell
and Brian Branch and Jamison Williams and Tate Ratlich to
a certain extent, and Sam Laporta. But we've also recognized
there have been proverbial swings and missus. I don't need

(09:45):
to bring up those names either, but you know who
they are. That's what leaves us a little tentative. When
you want us to go all in, and we have
been all in the last two years, two and a
half years, right, What we're asking is that you go
all in, and we didn't get it. And that's why

(10:10):
Lions Pans fans, I think, for the most part, are upset.
Our phone number again on the Myer hotline eight sixty
six eight three eight forty eight forty three. You can

Speaker 3 (11:20):
Nothing done at the trade deadline for the Lions other
teams involved. You don't measure your team against everybody else.
I'm not trying to measure the lines against the Philadelphia Eagles.
I'm not trying to measure Brad Holmes against Howi Roseman.
That's not what I'm doing at all. What I'm doing
is telling you this team had needs, this team did
not address those needs. I'm try try, I really do.

(11:42):
I give all effort to give Brad Holmes the benefit
of the doubt. Miles Frasier might come off the pup
list that would help. Hasn't taken a snap yet. You
go out and you pick up a guy like Jack
Conley Theriots off the practice squad, put them on your

(12:03):
practice squad, you realize he has been cut and re
signed three times after going undrafted. Look, there are great
stories in the NFL, great stories and sports all the time,
but is this what you plan to do for your
team down the stretch? Do you remember last year? And

(12:24):
I disagreed with the tact by the way, but when
reporters talked to Dylan Larkin at the trade deadline and
what he said about the lack of movement by Steve
Eisman in the front office, Yes, and I thought Steve
Eisman's response was perfect. I really did. Hey, you guys
put your bootstrats up and you guys get after it.

(12:45):
We expect the improvement come to come from within the room.
It's tough for that to happen if your room is
full of injury. The Lions rooms are full of injury,
and you're hoping for some healthy bodies. And I'm the

(13:06):
kind of person who also sits behind this microphone and
doesn't play fantasy football. I know that it's not as
easy as it sounds. Why does it? Why is that
always the reason we are talking about the Lions or
any team in Detroit instead of other markets talking about

(13:29):
what we have done. I don't get it. So Miles
Fraser comes back, Okay, there's your guy. Is he the
right guy? I don't know? And you hope that the
Lions do right. But in the meantime, while you're waiting

(13:50):
for Marcus Davenport, and you're waiting for Josh Pascal, and
you're waiting for Miles Fraser to come off the mend,
you're going to be forced to use certain players at
some point, like a Tristan Colan. Have you heard of him?

(14:10):
Have you seen him play? Coyote? Owasakia seen him play
just a little bit. There's a reason their second string. Okay, yeah,
did I want a starter? You damn right? I did.
Why wouldn't you You want your team to be the best.

(14:31):
I hope a guy like a Wasseika is really good.
I hope he surprises all of us. I hope there's
a moment in time where we got to go back
and say, you know what, this dude, in his fourth
year out of Buffalo has been really one of the
bigger surprises in camp. I don't recall that happening, but
maybe I missed that footnote at somebody's article. I don't know.

(14:56):
All I know is that this team is hurting. There's
an opportunit unity here and this team is not taking
advantage of it. First ever college football playoff rankings are out.
It's no surprise Ohio State number one, although there's a
part of me that thought maybe Texas A and M
would be there. But it's Ohio State, is Indiana, then
it's Texas A and M, then it's Alabama. And I

(15:17):
know there's twelve spots. I'm not going to read all
twelve teams. Those are your top four. Red Wings close
out their five game western road trip with one nothing
loss in Las Vegas. I remember Barbershov's goal with six
fifteen left in the second was the difference John Gibson
for as much as I watched, and I didn't watch
all of it. I'm not going to lie. Those late

(15:40):
games make for really early mornings. But Gibson made thirty
three saves, played well enough and led. But Akira Schmidt
posted his second career shutout. At the other end, the
Wings are going to come home. They'll play seven of
their next eight at Little Caesars Arena, starting Friday night
against the Rangers. Pistons are back home tonight. They're going
to play Utah. Detroit has one back to back games.

(16:01):
They've actually won three straight games. The Jazz just beat
the Celtics. Remember that's where all the controversy from Jalen
Brown's post game comments about referees took place. But they're
still a game under five hundred. Jack Flaherty chooses not
to opt out of his contract. I noticed a lot
of writers saying that's a surprise. I don't understand why
they thought it was a surprise. I didn't think he

(16:25):
would opt out. You're gonna make twenty million dollars.

Speaker 5 (16:28):
Yeah, we saw this one coming. You think he's gonna
get more than that on the open market.

Speaker 3 (16:32):
He led the league in losses with fifteen. He gave
up twenty three bombs, which was top twenty in the
American League in terms of a bad sign. His ERA
was four point sixty four. Do you think you're going
to make more than twenty million on the open market?

Speaker 6 (16:46):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (16:46):
And if so, I don't how it's going to give
you that money.

Speaker 3 (16:50):
How do you sell that to a fan? Look again,
you don't do everything for fan bases, but Trent, you
do have to face the media, and if the media
has any gumption whatsoever, they could that's the question back row. Yeah,
you just signed a free agent who had fifteen losses,
led the American led baseball with in losses, had a
four point six ERA, gave up a lot of home runs,

(17:12):
and you signed him to more than twenty million dollars.

Speaker 7 (17:15):
Yep.

Speaker 3 (17:15):
Quick question. Why, I mean, do you think he's going
to take the time machine back? He's Michael J. Fox.
Here's the poll question. It's the Mitch Lions Wealth Poll
Question of the day. Have them for you every day?
What is your feeling on the lines of the trade deadline?
You understand you're matt as hell, you're frustrated, you're confused.

(17:43):
What is your feeling on the Lions of the trade deadline.
Understand it, Matt as Hell frustrated or confused, We'll give
you the results in the eight o'clock hour tomorrow. In
our eight o'clock hour today, Pat Kerwin joins us, looking
forward to that. Pat Kerwin will talk to was about
his take on the various trades that took place, and

(18:07):
he will talk to us about why he thinks the
Lions were so stagnant at the trade deadline. I'm interested
to hear Brad Holmes explain it.

Speaker 5 (18:25):
What's that he will That's the thing that's that I'm
interested as well.

Speaker 3 (18:29):
Shep, Yeah, he was going to explain it. He should
explain it. Yeah, question.

Speaker 7 (18:35):
See.

Speaker 3 (18:36):
Yeah, I don't need to see general managers after every game.
I hope people don't. I want to hear from the coaches.
I want to hear from the players all that other stuff.

Speaker 5 (18:43):
Oh, you don't want to hear from Jerry Jones after
every timely?

Speaker 6 (18:46):
Not?

Speaker 3 (18:46):
No, that that's interesting. He's out there already, you know,
he said it before it even took place, that we've
got a trade in place. I want to hear from
general managerss after the draft, at the end of training camp,
at the trade deadline, and at the end of the season.

(19:07):
Those are four specific times I'd like to hear from
general managers, and Brad Holmes I think has done a
good job with that. And actually I like that about
the general managers in this market is they don't seek
that camera. They're not looking for a microphone. You want
to go interview people who are associated with the game,
do that, But you are building a team through a draft,

(19:30):
You're building a team through trade deadline. You had a
chance to kind of look at your team and assess
it after the preseason, so before the regular season begins,
and then at the end of the year. I think
those are appropriate times for general managers. We need to
hear from Brad Holmes. We need to hear why he

(19:51):
didn't make a move and explain to us perhaps what exactly,
not that you can divulge everything, because we don't deserve
to know everything, but what you can tell us they
were asking for. Remember, Detroit has a certain amount of
draft picks, but there's so many questions right now with
this team that I think people have every right to

(20:15):
want to know the answers to case in point, Isaac Teslah,
how in the world do you trade three thirds for
a guy who had three snaps in the last game.
Are you admitting that he hasn't played or isn't as
good as you thought, or is that on the coaches
not getting involved the way they should. There's a lot
of question marks that we really haven't talked about because

(20:38):
it's been masked by what was then a five and
two start. We're back with more after this where this
hour is brought to you by Mitch Lion's Wealth at
Mitch Lionswealth dot com.

Speaker 8 (20:46):
I'm a big believer in you look back at some point,
said man, that may have been the best thing to
happen to us, because we had to overcome this. We
had to do this. This force this change did this
made us look at this a little different. This got
the urgency up for the way I go about my business,
and just sometimes that's the way it works most of
the time. I believe that. So this is just a

(21:08):
little little storm we're in and we got a weather.
No matter how long it takes, we'll get out of this.
We'll be good.

Speaker 3 (21:21):
I think the Lions might want to have Dan Campbell
and Brad Holmes to stop using the phrase we're good,
and I mean that sincerely, because it's now used as
a punchline anytime they do something bad, and it's almost
mocking people's concerns. Okay, you and I can do that,

(21:47):
those who are in charge should not be doing that.
And I know he just said that at the end
as a natural response, but the whole we're good has
been used a couple of times. Welcome back, Hexes and Bros.
Monday through Friday six until nine, eight sixty six, eight three,
eight forty forty three. Once your thoughts on the lack

(22:07):
of movement from the Lions or textas twenty one thousand.
Here's my really big concern, the belief that everything's going
to be okay because we're getting certain guys back. Who's
the backup to Taylor Decker. Do you know who's the

(22:28):
backup at left tackle?

Speaker 5 (22:29):
Dan Skipper?

Speaker 3 (22:32):
You realize he was cut and brought back to the
practice squad. Yes, I know that, Yes, Yeah, I know
you do. Christian Mahogany has a broken bone in his
left leg.

Speaker 5 (22:42):
Yeah, he's out for pretty much the season, right.

Speaker 3 (22:44):
Well, the belief is you have to plan on that.
At least, No, they're planning him in returning in December.
He could be back in December. The belief is that
Marcus Davenport could be back from a strained pectoral muscle,
perhaps in December. The belief is that Josh Pascal, who

(23:08):
we've been told twice already this year, is going to
be back soon. We'll be back in December. You realize
there are four games before you get to December. I
hope people understand that the Lions have to play Washington
this week, at Philadelphia, home against the Giants, and home

(23:31):
against the Packers in November. That's before you get to December.
By that time, based on all the other stuff that's
been going on in the NFC and the teams that
are contending, you may not like to hear it because
I don't like saying it. The Bears are contending. And

(23:52):
if you don't say they are, pay attention. They've got
the same record as you. If you don't think the
Vikings are contending tension, they're just a game back of you.
If you don't think the Panthers are contending, think again,
they're a game back of you. Have you seen the
NFC West, The Seahawks, the Rams, the Niners, all pretty

(24:17):
damn good teams. Two definitely better than you right now.
I said it as late as this time a week ago.
I truly believe the Lions are the best team in football.
It's tough to say that now when your left tackle
is hurt and he's getting older. He's been a hell
of a pro for you, he's been an underrated player.

(24:39):
Taylor Decker has been outstanding in so many ways as
a left tackle. But he's older. He's played a lot
of games, played a lot of snaps, taking him a
lot of hits, had a lot of shots in his
shoulders and his knees and things of that nature. It
wears on you at some point. It's like, I've got
to exhale. My best friend got out at the right time.

(25:00):
Rank ragnow and I'm just about ready to call it
a career as well. You got a left guard that
is out. You've got a center that is overmatched. You
got a rookie right guard who's getting bumped and bruised.
You got to right tackle who's trying to keep it
all together and he was injured the other day. You've
got a running game that was awful against Minnesota, and

(25:22):
an offense that is You've got a coordinator who's been
out there virtually apologizing, and a head coach who's saying,
we've got to get this guy, this guy, this guy,
and this guy more involved. Said at the beginning of
the year, we got to get Sam Laporter more involved.
Now he's talking about Jamison Williams. And yesterday he said,
Isaac teslah Oh, and by the way, David Montgomery, we

(25:43):
got to get him more touches. He's handing out these
types of suggestions like I did on Halloween night to
kids knocking at my door. In addition to that, you're
still wondering, where's the opposite pass rush for Maiden Hutchinson
other than a flash every once in a while from

(26:04):
certain guys like Tyrus Wheat and al Kade Muhammet. I'm
not saying the sky is falling, but just believe that
the Lions are getting guys back in December. Couldn't the
season be over by December? Not trying to draw a

(26:26):
panic here, but let's be honest. If you looked at
the NFC, I mean nobody outside the Eagles in the
NFC East, right, But if you looked at the NFC
and I said to you, the Packers, the Bears, the Vikings,
the Bucks, the Panthers, the Seahawks, Rams, and Niners all

(26:46):
have just as much belief in their teams at reaching
the postseason as you do in yours. Would you understand
why they would? I hope you would. All you got
to do is look at the numbers. All you got
to do is look at the records, and then you've
got to look at Detroit's schedule moving forward. And how

(27:06):
challenging is that that's going to be. And not to
be a jackass about it, but it's not going to
change my mind if and when you roll into Washington
and you beat the crap out of Washington without Jayden Daniels,
without Terry McLaurin, and without some of their other really
good players. Our phone number on the Meyer hotline is
eight six six eight three, eight forty eight forty three.

(27:29):
You could text a sports radio to twenty one thousand.
Really thought we'd have some emotional people today, upset about
the lack of movement or trying to defend the lack
of movement. I mean, there's a part of the fan
base that almost understands it. Hey, listen, we didn't want
to give up too much. Look at what other teams

(27:49):
were giving up. A lot of those people have told
me that the Lions don't do a great of drafting
in the third round anyway. A lot of people have
told me their second round picks have been garbage anyway. Oh,

(28:10):
but you want to hold on to him. I'm not
saying get rid of all your picks. You don't have
a third rounder next year, right, because you gave that
up for tiesla, So why would you want to lose
a second round or a first rounder suddenly you don't
have a pick on day one and not till late
fourth on day two. I'm not suggesting that, but there

(28:34):
were moves yesterday where there's plenty of draft picks later
in rounds that are going elsewhere for able bodies. And again,
I'm not asking for starters. I'm asking for guys who
can come in and help your team and give you
some depth just in case, because you know there's going
to be other injuries. I mean, maybe you think Malcolm

(28:55):
Rodriguez is the answer when he comes back, all right,
and he or maybe Khalil Dorsey will be back, okay,
before the end of the season. Before the end of
the season. I mean that's what I'm reading. I'll give
you an example, the Detroit News Lions are expected to
get backups defensive end Josh Pascal, linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez, and

(29:18):
cornerback Khalil Dorsey back before the end of the season. Okay,
is what do you mean by the end of the season.
At what point are we going to go? Yeah, the
season is now. Perhaps just maybe we witnessed a team

(29:39):
last year a go fifteen and two in home field
didn't mean that much. It showed us right, But would
you rather play Philly in late January? In Philly for
the NFC Championship game or in Detroit? Did you rather

(30:00):
play Green Bay in a playoff game at Lambeau or
at Ford Field? Would you rather go to San Francisco
two years ago in the NFC title game at Levi
Stadium or would you rather host it at home and
take your chances that way? I don't get it, man,

(30:23):
I just don't get it. I obviously they have a
lot of confidence. Okay, obviously they feel like, you know,
they've done this before. What are the trade deadlines they've made.
In twenty twenty three, they were struggling with their pass

(30:47):
catchers and they brought in Donovan People's Jones great Detroit kid.
That's awesome. It's another one of those situations where people
are like, let's bring home the hometown kid and it's
going to matter. It didn't the next year. Last year,
what did they do? They traded two Day three picks

(31:08):
for Zadarius Smith and another late round choice. Some people
would tell you they had to do that because they
didn't have their best pass rusher. And therein lies another
issue with people's perception of Brad Holmes's view. He'll do

(31:31):
it when he has to, but how creative is he
getting when it comes to other moves? And this is
where I think many Lions fans judge him or compare
him anyway to what other gms have done. That's where

(31:53):
screw the picks is what a lot of people believe. Well,
that's how this team was built. This team was built
on draft. That's great. You must adjust, just like an
offensive or defensive coordinator. Although the Lions didn't do that
against Minnesota. You have to adjust. You see that they're

(32:13):
bringing pressure through the A gaps and the B gaps
all game long, and this was going to be Minnesota's
game plan at least until you stop it. Bringing an
h back, bringing a tight end. Have them come in
slow motion and hang in there to block, to give
Jared Goff a little bit more time. You would have
liked to have seen something. I'm simplifying things, but you

(32:34):
understand where I'm going with it, right. You had to adjust,
they didn't adjust. You ask your front office to do
the same thing. You ask your front office to recognize, well,
you know what we have needs right here. We're going
to have to get creative. And none of these games,

(32:56):
none of these deals are done in a vacuum. It's
not like, Okay, this is this is it. Here's the
where we woke up yesterday morning. We've got till four
o'clock to put this together. Usually these deals are Usually
they've been talking about it for almost a week. That's

(33:17):
why certain things get leaked. They get leaked because somebody's
camp is talking to somebody else's camp, and those people
want to know what's going on with it, and they're
going to leak it to try and either strengthen their
situation or recognized to their fan base. This is what

(33:42):
could be happening. The Meyer hotline eight sixty six eight
three eight forty eight forty three. Let's go there now,
on a Wednesday morning, brought to you by Mitch Lion's
Wealth and Mitch lioneswealth dot Com. Go ahead, Yeah, it's
Freddy with Lions thoughts. I knew I'd hear from Freddy.
I knew it, and I'm going, Hi Freddy, good morning.

Speaker 7 (34:03):
Good morning. Set by I text, I texted six oh one,
and that wasn't a way for you to read the text. So,
you know, before I get to my spiel, you know,
you bring up all these players that are coming back
this it's pretty obvious what they're doing. They they they
they beat the Rams, and they beat them being the playoffs,

(34:23):
and then they embarrass themselves against San Francisco what they
normally do. And then they went fifteen to two last
year and a lot of injured players, and and I
think in their minds, listen, we we didn't those players
weren't injured. We could have won, and we're gonna win
with these guys. And and they're and they're they're standing,
they're gonna stand pass in that they're gonna win with

(34:43):
their guys. So what what what what bothers me is Yet,
when expectations change, you know, you can go into a
season with certain expectations and when things change, you have
to adjust. They don't seem to adjust for some reason,
because they seem like they want to win with their guys.
Well bother What bothers me the most is after they
beat the Rams, after they beat Tampa Bay, they all

(35:06):
started getting really juicy out there, certain guys wearing villain
t shirts. The owner got up and even said the
worst super Bowl, And all of a sudden, they started
raising ticket prices, gouging all these faithful fans that have
been there for years and years and years. And let
me tell you, I'm a business person. You can raise
prices all you want, but you got to be careful

(35:27):
when you do it. Now, they all mentioned the worst
super Bowl. And after the Washington lost, they're all in
witness protection program. They're all in Arizona. They're nowhere to
be found. I don't hear the worst super Bowl anymore.
And expectations have changed and they're not doing anything about it. Meanwhile,
they raise your prices and you keep going there, you

(35:48):
keep spending that money, and you keep shilling for the team.
And I'm not talking about you all the fans. You
can't say it worded about any of these guys because
they walk on water. They're like most walk on water. Okay, listen,
they're human like us. They're They're an organization that creates
billions and billions of dollars and you should expect more,

(36:11):
and they didn't give you anything more yesterday. Did we
want uh? Did we want a left tackle for a
first round pick? No, that wasn't gonna happen. But you
got to create some depth. What they're doing is they're
keep the keep waiting for their guys, because that's the
guys that are drafted. To me, Chef, it's BS. It
is total BS in my book. I don't know what

(36:33):
I've heard your thoughts. I think we're on the same page.
I'm probably more extreme than you are, but I think
it's BS.

Speaker 3 (36:39):
Mike, it's a great I think it's a great take.
I really do a lot of times you and I
never wanted to put in you too. You and I
like to debate a little bit. It's hard to argue
with that. The only thing I would say about the
ticket prices, and I don't feel it because I don't
pay for it. You may I would, but well, I
would remind you they ranked near the bottom of the

(37:00):
league in cost of attendance because of you know, a
crappy product. Okay, so I wouldn't expect a team to
stay at the bottom of the league when they are,
you know, going twelve and one at home over two
year stretch. Okay, However, to Freddy's point, you know, you're

(37:21):
still getting sixty sixty five thousand people there every day
or for every game. But you can understand that why
people would be upset about it because for a second
straight year they did raise ticket prices. Okay, twenty four
percent is what it was raised. So there's a there's

(37:43):
a good article from the Free Press back in December
of last year where they raised tickets twenty four percent
and some ticket holders had to go through a sixty
seven percent hike, but most of it is it was
between you know, twenty four to thirty percent overall, that

(38:05):
is a very steep price to pay. So it's look,
you're the ones who pay the price you can what's
wrong with you expecting things. I'm glad Freddy said that
because I completely agree said it before the year began,
that it's super Bowl. This team's got to go to
the super Bowl.

Speaker 8 (38:26):
Now.

Speaker 3 (38:27):
The one thing I would ask him or The one
thing I might differ with Freddy on is that just
because they beat the Rams and just because they beat
the Buccaneers and then lost to San Francisco, doesn't mean
that they got high in Mighty. So we'll talk more
about that. On the other side, we got hit a break.
Appreciate the phone call as always very loyal, very passionate,

(38:49):
and I love that about him. This is ex'es and Bros.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. ā€œFoods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,ā€ says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
