I hear community is proud to bea part of Birdie's for Charity and I
am super excited to have on theline with US Army's Legacy Animal Rescue and
Sanctuary. Their director of Training,Rebecca Di Matteo, who is also excited
to be a part of Bertie's forCharity. Hi, Rebecca, Hi,
how are you to say? Weare great? Thank you so much for
calling in. I know animal rescueis a never ending You're always busy.

(00:22):
And thanks again to Webster Bank forsponsoring Bertie's for Charity through the Travelers Championship,
where people can donate through end ofplay June twenty third to help organizations
earn an extra fifteen percent of everydollar that's donated. So, Rebecca,
your job right now is to telleverybody about Army's Legacy Animal Rescue and Sanctuary,

(00:43):
who you are, how you help, and how we can help you.
Absolutely so. We are based outof Bristol, Connecticut, but we
are a foster based organization. Weare really focused on getting et based animals
out of shelters, out of badsituations, educating the public, helping people
keep their pets when they don't haveany other options, such as medical emergencies,

(01:03):
meeting a distance with training things likethat pets are better off in the
loving homes and if we could helpsee public keep their pets, that's what
we want to do now. Obviously, there's an epidemic going on in Connecticut
right now with homeless and abuse animals, So working with establishments like local animal
rescues and shelters to help team upand pull those animals out and get them

(01:26):
into safe and loving homes through ourfoster program is really what we're focused on
doing. So a big issue we'vebeen having lately as well is on lack
of foster homes, so we're reallylooking for and doing a lot of outreach
to find people to open up theirhomes and allow us to place our dogs
good death. So that's kind ofwhat we're about. Education is a huge,

(01:46):
huge part of animal rescue and reallyjust teaching the public, the Jews
and Jones, how to avoid issuesand how to properly seek help when they're
having issues. Obviously, with COVIDand everything that's going on in the world
right now, people are afraid toask for help, and unfortunately it leaves
them in really bad situations. Sowe're really just here to let the public
know that we're here for you,We're here for your pets, and we

(02:07):
want to help you before it getsto that point where you feel that you
don't have any other options. Sothat's the short and suite wee. I
know, right, it's so hardto just tell everybody all the amazing work
that you do, the lives thatyou've saved, and the countless hours and
sacrifice it. Animal rescue definitely isa way of life twenty four to seven.

(02:28):
Where can people go to donate toyou and to see what you're up,
to follow you, maybe even volunteerto foster totally. So I'm just
want to add one little part twointo our mission statement. We really want
to help the abuse, neglected anddiscarded and that's our kind of our motto
and our mission. And where youcan go to learn a little bit more
about us is armies Legacy dot org. You can follow us on Facebook or

(02:50):
Instagram at Army's Legacy Animal Rescue andSanctuary and we post a lot of our
events. Donation on links them thelink, PayPal link all of that there.
Also find us on Patreon and becomea monthly donator. You can also
go on I believe. On ourwebsite we have a list of our events
as well. We've got a coupleof really fun ones coming up. I
know we have one at say GilfordGreen this upcoming weekend. It is an

(03:12):
honor of Homework Bound, who isanother organization who works very closely with us
to help us be able to stayin neuter animals. And that's how you
can find us. All right, well, we will be looking for you
at all of these events through endof play June twenty three. The Travelers
Championship gives you birdies for charity, one of the great organizations taking part of
it Army's Legacy Animal Rescue and Sanctuary, where they were earned fifteen percent of

(03:34):
every dollar donated. Before we wrapup today, Rebecca, and as this
interview will be played over and overagain over the next few weeks, let's
tell people how important these extra dollarsare for you and what they actually mean
to continue your mission. It isso important. I really can't stress it
enough. I mean, we've spentan amount of time and money on medical
cases alone this year is just astronomical, in the hundreds of that thousands of

(04:00):
dollars range. We have multiple dogs, right now that we are looking to
spay in neoter to help stop backyardbreeding and to help stop people having to
put their dogs down, so thesemedical problems that they don't feel they can
afford or handle. So that's onehuge thing that the medical, the cost
of medical will go to. Thefinances that we raise somebody that we bring
in will go to that training isanother really big thing that we need money

(04:23):
for right now. We're sending dogsinto board and trained program to give them
a better chance at being adopted. So I just can't stress enough to everybody
that every single penny counts, andwe thank you all in advance. All
right, once again before we wrap, give everybody your direct contact and how
people can find you directly, absolutelyso. You can find us on Armies
Legacy dot org. You can giveus a call at two zero three nine

(04:46):
zero six six eight eight seven,or you can reach Amanda Armstrong, where's
our founder and president of the rescue, at two zero three nine one five
four seven two two. You canreach us directly on Facebook as well.
All right, And if you wantto help them with their Birdies for charity
mission, you're going to go toTravelers Championship dot com. Search berdies for
charity and look for armies. LegacyAnimal Rescue and Sanctuary. Rebecca Di Matteo

(05:10):
is the director of training. Thankyou for being on our communities and we
hope you raise lots and lots andlots of money, and thanks for all
you do for animals and animal advocacyhere in Connecticut. Thank you so much
for having us on. We reallyappreciate it.
