Originating from the iHeartMedia Megaplex in Columbus, Ohio, the studios of six to
ten WTVN. This is the ChuckDouglas Power Our Podcast. Greetings, my
friends, and welcome to the ChuckDouglas Podcast. You know, sometimes we
(00:24):
need to look back remember what wassaid so that we can have those I
told you so in this case,he told you so messages. And then
as as we legalize recreational marijuana inthe state of Ohio, I brought some
things up on the show last week, and I brought up, you know,
the fact that hud vouchers and Sectioneight those are federal funded. Of
(00:46):
the people who accept those for rentmay not be able to rent to people
that are getting marijuana, that arebuying marijuana, that are going into a
marijuana database in the state of Ohio. And then then the news comes out
the Ohio State University says, hey, we accept federal funds and marijuana is
illegal at the federal level. Sothere will still even though Ohio has legalized
(01:07):
it, there will still be nouse of marijuana on the Ohio State University
campus. What about all the otherpublicly funded colleges and universities around the State
of Ohio. I'm sure they're goingto follow suit with Ohio State University.
But the I told you soul moment. Just remember what I said on the
show too. With Ohio has bepassed the law to bring legalized recreational marijuana
(01:30):
into game time, I said,no, don't do it. Don't do
it. Don't do it. Asidefrom the fact that I just hate to
smell that stuff. We were notprepared, We were not ready. There
was no infrastructure laid out before wedid it. We are seeing now the
results of this. Various public entities, fire departments, police departments, and
(01:55):
public safety and other municipal departments saywe're if you use the recreational marijuana,
we're not going to employ you. What's a liability thing for them? Bline
police officer, drub trash truck.Yeah, well, if you go out
there Stone and put my car inthe back of the trash truck instead of
(02:17):
the green thing, the city's goingto be liable. They're not going to
risk that. They want no liability. So if you go to your government
approved database store and buy your legalrecreational marijuana ding nings, somebody knows and
you're unemployed. We know that thetalk already about firearms, Second Amendment rights
(02:42):
and so forth. Well, federallaw still considers this ain't arcotic. You
cannot fill out the Federal Firearms Formlawfully and truthfully if you are a user
of recreational or medicinal marijuana. Becausewhile Ohio may say it's okay, the
Feds don't say it's okay. Federalmoney's involved, so nobody's gonna mess with
(03:05):
it. Now, think about whatelse is federal money involved with? How
about Section eight and hudd vouchers.Oh wait a minute, you can't live
in this government's subsidized housing anymore becauseyou purchased recreational marijuana. Don't you think
that's a possibility. I certainly do. I certainly do. Why Well,
(03:30):
because it doesn't make sense with everythingelse. That's why you put it in
front of the people. The peopleapprove it, and then you say,
yeah, but you can't approve it. Now on the local level, State
of Ohio level, legislature level, the Republicans are being called out, and
what they want to do is,in a word, stupid. Here's the
(03:57):
deal. I said, no infrastructure, we didn't make any plan for jobs,
and whether you can be terminated orwhether you can live here or whatever.
We just legalized it. I thoughtthat was a big mistake. Well,
now the legislature is screwing around withwhat the people approved. Among the
changes, among the changes will betaking the rule you can grow your own
plants, because right now as itwas passed, it was put into laws,
(04:18):
voted on. It's passed says thatyou can have up twelve plans at
the house of you know, sixper adult, so you can grow your
own if you want to put someonein the window box, in the deck
box, that's what you want todo. This change that they're looking at
would take that right away. Boom, right there. It's all about money.
It's all about money. It's notabout life, liberty in the pursuit
(04:39):
of happiness. It's all about money. Will Chook, Well, would you
say that? Because if you can'tgrow your own, but you can go
to a government approved, government taxed, government regulated place and get it,
why can't you grow your own.I'm not saying have a whole backyard fall,
but twelve plans? Come on,man. Also, the Senate proposal
(05:00):
would increase the approved tax, thetax that people already said yes, we're
willing to pay this will pay theten percent tax on top of the regular
sales tax. They will increase thatto fifteen percent, but the people voted
yes on ten percent, again nullifyingthe will of the people. They are
forgetting the concept of the representative Republican. Quite frankly, if I were a
(05:25):
Libertarian in the state of Ohio,I'd be licking my chops right now.
Republicans, you want to flush thetoilet on yourself. Keep moving forward with
this to silence the people, whetheryou agree with them or not, is
(05:46):
exactly the sort of dictator mentality ofwhich you are constantly being accused by the
left. You want to make ittrue or do you want to act like
you have some sense? This isjust stupid that the Ohio GOP is just
man. All they are doing ismaking themselves look a really, really tyrannical
(06:06):
and be making Libertarians a very strongpossibility for some successful runs in the state
of Ohio. It's kind of oddbecause libertarians have alway been that They've been
associated forever with smoking dope. Ohyou're a libertarian? How much smoked you
dope? I mean, dupe?Do you smoke? You know what I
mean? Man? That was thewhole libertarian thing. Now, wouldn't it
(06:27):
be ironic that the people of Ohiovote to legalize recreational marijuana, the Republicans
get involved at the state legislature, and without lifting a finger, the libertarians
still end up benefiting from legalized marijuanain the state of Ohio. I find
a certain sick irony to that. The people voted. Let me get let's
see. Maybe it's not clear enough. Let's try what we try. The
(06:50):
people have voted, the people havespoken. We the people, you work
for the people. Here's what weapproved. Now just do it. It
ain't that hard. I don't evenagree with it. I didn't want it
(07:10):
to pass, but it did.And the will of the people the greater
good. The majority rule is thebasis of democracy, and democracy is the
foundation of our representative republic. Dowhat the people have chosen to have you
do on their behalf, which isget out of the way. There you
have it, don't forget to joinme for the Power Hour Monday, Tuesday,
(07:34):
Wednesday, Thursday, six pm onehour together. So I have to
talk fast and you have to listenfaster. On six' ten WTVN
