Speaker 1 (00:00):
And still Frame on Sea one on one, I should
say there's Trapped and something besides Headstrong on Sea one
on one, I go a little deeper, Chris. I've got
Chris Taylor Brown on the line with me right now.
How are you my friend?

Speaker 2 (00:11):
Great? I'm awesome. It couldn't be better.

Speaker 1 (00:13):
I noticed you on TikTok Live the other night and
shot shot shot you a message and I said, hey man,
can we talk? And so now I've got Chris Taylor Brown,
lead singer of Trapped from all those years ago at
Sea one on one c Sculptures, when you took off
your shirt and you had your jeans on and you
made everybody jealous.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
It was so hot that day. I remember it very clearly.
It was it was like it was one of the
hottest shows ever.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
It was. It was quite a party and quite a blast.
Are there radio stations all across the country that still
play Headstronger? Do they go a little deeper?

Speaker 3 (00:50):
Yeah? I mean I know most most frock stations play
headstrone for sure.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
Yeah, and yeah, Who's Going Home?

Speaker 3 (00:57):
And I still frame and echo stand up and still frame.
You know a lot of songs that they played.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
I Love, I Love, Still frame. It's fantastic. And I
know that you have a huge following on on TikTok.
Did you just pick up the guitar one day and say,
you know what, I'm gonna go and do one of
these lives and see how it goes.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
TikTok funny. So I jumped on TikTok summer of twenty
twenty one.

Speaker 3 (01:21):
Yeah, and we got we got to like one hundred
thousand followers by the end of the year. And then
twenty twenty two hit and the whole you know, Ukraine
Russia thing happened. I just thought that was going to
be the worst idea to ever get involved in that,
and and I just started kind of showing how mainstream
media was just not telling the truth about the whole
winning thing, you know, and and uh, you know, there

(01:44):
was powers that be that did not like that, and uh,
you know, by I guess, you know, nine ten months later,
they banned they've banned that account really well. Yeah, and
then after that, you know, I was like, all right, well,
then if I can't do that, I'll just start has
strong politics, you know, and I'll start talking.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
About it outside of trapped. And they banned that. I
was like, who's just going to entertate and they banned
me for that?

Speaker 1 (02:08):
And you know, I'm reading right now and it says
Traps front man Chris Taylor Brown became notorious for this, that,
and the other. But then it says, why does the
band get so much hate? And then it says because
they're a band that's telling the truth about cancel culture, craziness,
the twilight zone, that is the country now and he's

(02:30):
and he's pro American. So, you know, politics, politics aside
the music. I know that's one of you know, your
big focal points right there. Did the politics thing just
kind of happened because you said, you know what, I've
got this microphone, let me go ahead and speak my mind.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
Yeah, I mean that's that's like I didn't really you know,
I would say my piece on the on the Trap
Facebook page for years before twenty twenty. But then you know,
in twenty twenty with a whole lockdowns and all that.
I mean that that affects that affected every band, you know,
and so it's for reath not to have a voice
in that.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
Yeah, ridiculous.

Speaker 3 (03:03):
But at the end of the day, you know, after
getting banned, So I think I don't mind trolls. I
don't mind haters, but I can't I can't like promote
the band if social media just bans any account that
I that I put up there, if I don't you know,
talk about what they're what they want me to talk about,
or don't.

Speaker 2 (03:20):
Talk about what they don't want.

Speaker 3 (03:21):
Me to talk about.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
So you know that that became just I would have.
I just had to self censor after that.

Speaker 3 (03:26):
Yeah, So, like you know, starting early in twenty three,
you know, after they ban had strong politics, I was
just like, whatever, you know, I'm not.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
I'm it's just music only. So that's basically what it's
been for the last two years.

Speaker 3 (03:37):
I haven't I haven't put my hat in the ring
and I at all because I know what will happen.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
And so but a lot of people like that because
they're like, you know what, at the end of the day,
I want to hear a great song, and you're giving
them great music. There are some people very interested in
how you feel about politics.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
Yeah, but for like pass of law where no no
musicians or artists can talk about it. How about that?

Speaker 3 (03:58):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (03:59):
No, no, not neither truck.

Speaker 3 (04:00):
I'd be fine with that, you know, Like you know,
it's just one side gets to do it, and that
that was it pissed me off, you know, And and
at some point you're like, all right, well, you know
there's some things that need to be said about just truthfulness.

Speaker 2 (04:12):
Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
When I when I just see my own industry or
you know, mainstream media whatever, just lie about things, you know,
the headstrong part of me comes out, you know. Yeah,
so you know, but it's like, you know that we
were lyrics about that kind of thing. I mean, that's
that's that's what Trap's about, was like standing up for
you what you believe in, you know, and so not.

Speaker 1 (04:33):
When you when you stopped being so political, like you said,
because those accounts were getting banned, did you decide to
put that more into the music, you know, because Green
Day does the same thing a lot where yes, once
in a while they'll mouth off, but for the most part,
if you really listen to the lyrics to the music,
that's when they're actually telling you how they feel about

(04:53):
American politics.

Speaker 3 (04:55):
Uh, you know, we're we we just I don't really
uh set out to do that kind of thing, but
you know we haven't funk out.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
Ignorance is bliss. You know, we had it.

Speaker 3 (05:04):
We had a twenty ten called twenty ten sound called
sound Off, you know, which is about sounding off.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
You know, it's like literally what I did ten.

Speaker 3 (05:12):
Years later or you know, fifteen or five to ten
years later where Yeah, but you know it's like, you
know I was, That's that's the whole thing sound off.

Speaker 2 (05:20):
You know. It's like so if you if you go.

Speaker 3 (05:22):
Watch the video there, it's like almost kind of like
it's prophetic in the video that we made.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
It's crazy. So you know, it's like, yeah, I mean
we've always that, you know, the strength. We have a
song called Stranded Numbers. You know, it's just like that
kind of that was.

Speaker 3 (05:37):
Years before any of the the Trump stuff even, you know, So.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
What's next for what's next for Trapped musically? You know,
as a band, I know, you go out and you
play various venues. I see that. As far as touring,
is that something that comes easily for you? Are you
being invited to do that a lot?

Speaker 3 (05:54):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (05:55):
We uh just put out a new record last May.

Speaker 3 (05:58):
It's called The Fall, Yeah, and you know, we're we're
excited about that. We're just gonna be promoting that for
the next year or two. And we've put out a
record every three or four years and have done so
for the last over twenty years.

Speaker 1 (06:09):
Yeah, you've got a stack of them. I hit the
the little thumbnail that said albums and I was surprised
how full the screen got. I was like, I didn't
know they had all this stuff.

Speaker 2 (06:16):
So, yeah, yeah, we have eight albums.

Speaker 3 (06:19):
And you know, that's like I said, every three or
foury years. You know, we put out a new album.
When we have enough songs, we put it on an album.
And it's been consistent for this whole time, and so
you know, and.

Speaker 2 (06:28):
Then other than that, you know, we've played over.

Speaker 3 (06:31):
One hundred shows a year for the last three years.
You know, obviously couldn't do it in twenty twenty and
twenty twenty one.

Speaker 2 (06:36):
Yeah, lockdown stuff. But yeah, twenty two, twenty three, and
twenty four.

Speaker 3 (06:39):
Every year is over one hundred show. Last year was
one hundred and eleven shows. And then this year we
have a we have a Trappedic full band acoustic tour
that will be that we're going to be doing all year.
Uh this summer we have we're gonna have to be
part of a touring package, like you know, the electric
they can't really talk about yet, but we'll announce it soon.
But other than that, it's gonna be mostly uh Trap

(07:00):
then acoustic tour.

Speaker 2 (07:01):
You know.

Speaker 3 (07:01):
We we do that every other every every couple of years,
you know. Yeah, kind of give the electric thing a
little bit of a break. But a lot of our
fans like the acoustic thing better.

Speaker 2 (07:10):
You know.

Speaker 3 (07:10):
They like to just a biby candle tables and then
eat their food and have their drinks at the table
and listen to music like they A lot of our
fans would rather do that than you know, sit in
the middle of a mosh pit.

Speaker 2 (07:22):
You know.

Speaker 1 (07:23):
That's really cool. Well, everything that I've seen online has
been more than positive. People are talking about your music,
I think, you know, primarily from the tiktoks that you
do almost nightly and the moment that I liked it,
I ended up being invited into like fourteen different Trapped
fan groups and I went, oh my god, you.

Speaker 3 (07:39):
Know we played uh, we played miss we played Mesquite Street.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
Oh yeah, pizza. Yeah yeah.

Speaker 3 (07:45):
That was like October or I think October of twenty
twenty three.

Speaker 1 (07:50):
That's cool.

Speaker 3 (07:50):
Yeah, yeah, so we'll probably come in and do maybe
just do that venue for this acoustic tour probably involved
nice man.

Speaker 1 (07:58):
Well, it's been great talking to you and get a
little bit caught up. I always wondered what happened to
this band. The first thing my girl when she saw
you doing acoustic last night, she goes, he still looks incredible.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
You got get We got to three hundred thousand followers TikTok.

Speaker 3 (08:14):
Now we're at thirty one four hundred, but I mean
this is the second longest account on TikTok that we
that we have now.

Speaker 2 (08:20):
New traps is what we call it.

Speaker 3 (08:22):
But yeah, we got up to three hundred thousan followers
before the October twenty twenty two band.

Speaker 1 (08:26):
That's awesome.

Speaker 3 (08:27):
Man.

Speaker 1 (08:27):
Well thanks for taking some time and uh and catching
up with me. I'm one of the guys out there
that's playing something besides head Strong, although I still do
play Headstrong a lot. But I gotta know, will you
still take on anyone?

Speaker 2 (08:38):
Sure? Man, Well not really, because they'll just ban me.
I can't anyone.

Speaker 1 (08:44):
You have to change change that song, you have to
change the lyrics.

Speaker 2 (08:49):
Yeah, I was gone anyone until God banned. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (08:54):
Right, Hey, man, have a fantastic morning, and thanks for
taking some time. And it's nice to hear you again
