Back with cracking. The head coachDave Hackstall. The Boilers team down at
the moment, but they're never outand I think for the crack and this
could be this is a tough testfor them, knowing that this is a
desperate hockey team on the other sideof the ice. What would you like
to see from your group to sevening? What can we expect out of Edmonton
here tonight? Yeah, really interestingstudy. You know, best offensive numbers
(00:23):
in the league, most zone time, highest expected goals, most off the
rush, you know, top fiveoff the ford, checking, all of
those things are exactly what they've beenover the last couple of years. The
puck hasn't gone into that forum. So for us, you know, it's
blunt. We've got to We've gotto do a really good job of being
on our toes, checking well andready to counterattack. And that's how we're
(00:46):
going to find success tonight. We'vegot to make them you don't feel like
they have to force it a littlebit and then take advantage of tight spaces
or mistakes we're able to force theminto. And you know, our team
feels, you know, confident inour ability to do that. We check
as a group of five and we'regoing to have to be at our very
(01:06):
best doing that tonight, not ina defensive sense, in a sense of
defend and generate offense. This mightbe an obvious question, but how important
are the first ten minutes of thishockey game to really try to put as
much distance between you and Edmonton earlyon as possible. Well, the start
is really important, but it's it'snot necessarily about putting distance. You know,
(01:30):
my opinion, this hockey game isgoing to be a sixty minute fight.
The start is going to be important, and you know we're going to
face a real desperate hockey team tonight. That desperation is not going away after
ten minutes, after twenty minutes, after forty minutes. So you know,
eyes wide open. This is sixtyminute fight tonight, and it's got to
(01:51):
start at the dropping the pucket. You pick up your sixth win in Colorado
in the last seven tries, agutsy effort thirty one seconds left. Georg
Strand is second goal of the game. Just take us back to that performance
from your club. Yeah, youknow a couple of things we said going
into that hockey game, and it'snot really overly technical. So We've got
to get off to a good startin this building. Throughout the game,
(02:12):
you got to show poise and andhave a real good sense of the situation
that you're playing in within your shift. And then at some point in time,
you're gonna need some great resiliency. And you know, we saw those
elements at different times during the game, you know, in terms of resiliency,
not only with the game winning goallate, but also the last thirty
seconds with some of the efforts thatyou saw in guys, you know,
(02:34):
blocking shots and getting the job done. That's the type of resiliency that's that
our team really feeds off of andis known for three one in one in
your last five games. What hasbeen working for you over these last couple
of games for Seattle to help themstart to turn that corner from the early
part of the season, Well, just consistently, you know, skating and
(02:55):
working as a group of five. There's there's no magic. We have to
be a very hard, hard workingteam. We have to be in sync
the nights when we're ten fifteen percentoff, you know it, it makes
it a real uphill battle for us. So you know that in a way
that really empowers our guys, itcertainly challenges them, and they've they've been
(03:16):
up to that task, up tothat challenge, and you know, we've
we've had good contributions, not onlyfrom everybody in the lineup, but when
guys are on the ice as agroup of five, we we've had pretty
good cohesion. You've said that theeffort, the hard work, that intensity
has been there for Seattle in recentweeks. Unfortunately, the results have not
been as high as you would like. After a game like we saw against
(03:36):
Colorado, when you did all ofthose things, we saw what this team
is capable of doing. Does thatgive you an extra boost of confidence?
Does it help you to breathe thatsigh of relief and say, Okay,
we can actually do this and we'reon the right track. You turned the
page and you go to the nextone. Our group knows what we are
and you know, you know,I've said it, you know before,
we're not gonna the start that wegot off to in the first or five
(04:00):
games. Digs just digs a littlehole. So you feel like you have
to get that all back as quickas you can. In the reality,
that's not gonna That's not the wayit works. You have to you know,
you have to work those points backover time, and the consistency of
our game has been, you know, has been pretty good. Uh.
We're we're finding ways to gain pointson a regular basis. We've gone into
(04:21):
a couple of tough buildings and playedvery well. You know. So our
group just has to keep building onwho we are and that that identity is,
you know, something that you haveto work to create on a daily
basis. So we did a goodjob of it in Colorado the other night.
Our guys should feel good about that. Now we flipped the page and
we go on to the next task, the next challenge, the next opportunity
(04:44):
tonight, last point about Colorado.Your thoughts on Ryan Winterton, Shane right,
Ryan Winterson, of course in hisfirst NHL game, Shane Right,
his first game of the season.Your thoughts on their performances. I thought
they were awesome. I thought theyadded a little bit of juice and some
pace, and you know that firstperiod to look at the offensive opportunities that
they raided. You know that,Like I said that, you know that
gives a little bit of energy tothe bench. Uh, And uh,
(05:06):
we feel like they did a reallygood job and that's you know, those
guys are gonna get an opportunity asyoung guys to go back and do it
again. Night number two always bringsnew challenges, and that will be the
case tonight. But you know,we're gonna we're gonna play those guys.
We're gonna play them with confidence. They're gonna face some tough matchups tonight.
In in some of their shifts, you know, we feel like they're ready
(05:29):
to be up to that task, and I'm sure they're excited for that opportunity.
