(00:00):
All right, if you're wondering what'sfor dinner, it's four to ten,

(00:02):
you still have time to plan.I suggest her Toto Barbecue. There's three
locations. There is the location inArlington, there's the location Fort Worth,
and there's the brand new location inMansfield. Now, if you're going to
a Ranger game at Globe Ballyfield, you can also find two locations of her
Tato Barbecue. Our buddy Brendan Hurtadostarted that and it is his own brand
of Mexicue, and it is amazing. It is so freaking good. Highly

(00:27):
recommend her Toto Barbecue. If nottonight, any night, the greatness of
her Toato. But right now it'stime for this, budd It's good.
Listeners. Here comes kt fun tweets. We're around now, let's go around
the sports kg FU tweets as allthe sports. Yeah sure, damn dude,

(00:54):
Ben. So Friday night, theStars were playing in in game seven,
and I was in a concert andthe game is kind of going on,
and I get in my car leavingthe concert and oh, we're going
overtime. And then I go homeand I quickly showered during a commercial break,
and then in the overtime. Atsome point the Stars had scored a

(01:18):
goal but it was wiped off okaybecause of interference. And then in the
break between overtime one and overtime two, the studio analyst says, the NFL
referees are probably in with the DraftKingssports books. It's the most aggressive I've
really seen an analyst go at therefs. NHL. Yeah, and it
was. I was actually watching thisbecause we went out for a birthday party

(01:41):
and because the game had gone onso long. By the time I got
home, it was still the thirdperiod, and so when it happened,
it was it. I mean,I don't follow the NHL close enough,
but I'm like, I don't evenunderstand what the penld is. It seemed
like complete crap, and it wasto end a series, and so it
was. It was met I thinkuniversally by from even objective parties. Hey,

(02:07):
this is a terrible call, andthey reviewed it and the NHL stuck
with it. Makes people go therest of trying to get a game seven,
more revenue, more money, bottomline, all that stuff. The
point is we trickle across the midnighthour, so it's technically Saturday, May
eighteenth, the Dallas Stars score getthe win. When the series they advanced

(02:28):
to the Western Conference Finals. Meanwhile, fifteen hours later, your Dallas Mavericks
will be tipping off with the OklahomaCity Thunder in Game six. Incredible,
chest incredible. It's a bad start, oh, not incredible, and didn't
start out good. We go tohang Titan, then a big run at
the end, down sixteen at theHay. That's an improbable, very improbable

(02:53):
when it's an improbable way to enda series. It was just this team
is so resilient and can figure outso many different ways to win, and
they figured out a way to winGame six with Derek Jones Junior pretending like
he was Sean Marion. Yeah,I can't believe how good he was.

(03:15):
And that fadeaway jumper over chet Holmgrinwith what was like a minute twelve or
minute twenty, whatever it was,I think that put him up five.
That shot was eff an incredible, and I swear to god, I don't
think I've even seen him take thatshot this year, much less make it
with under a minute and a halfto go in a game that could end

(03:36):
a series. Yeah, it was. It was amazing. It felt like
a loss. The whole game feltlike a loss. It felt like the
MAVs are going up against not onlyOKC, but they were going up against
the referee referees too, And Idon't know, man, it might be
human nature. If you're if you'reI mean, the NBA is a business,
the NHL is a business. Allall of these things are businesses.

(03:58):
And if you look at it,it does make more sense. Better TV
ratings, better revenue, more youknow, sell more ticket, all of
that, it makes sense to goto an extra game. I don't think
they go into it and they havea big secret meeting and they're like,
all right, here's the plot. We're all in on this. We're gonna
sabotage this thing. But I thinkthey have an understanding that, hey,

(04:18):
you know, it's it's not terribleif this goes Game seven, And maybe
that could factor into how you callthe game. Like if you look at
the way the game was going, the foul attempt you know, the fouls
called and free throw attempts were allvery similar. Those weren't out of control,
But just watching the game, itfelt like the reps were trying to

(04:40):
give Okay See every possible chance theycould get now I'm looking at it through
MAVs lenses. I mean, I'ma pure Homer, but it certainly felt
that way to me. Yeah,I thought I thought it was the officiating
was really really bad, and youdon't want really bad officiating when you're the
home playoff team, right. IMean, there's a in all sports,

(05:01):
there's the idea of quote unquote homecooking, and that is based on the
idea that most humans are going tosuccumb to pressure. And if you're having
to officiate a game in a buildingwith twenty thousand people that all want the
same thing, that human nature wouldnudge you towards airing. On that side,

(05:21):
there are certain personality types that relishthe opportunity to go, oh yeah,
everybody watch this. Tony Tony Brothershas a reputation for being that guy.
And that's why I was really nervous. Like he loves throwing guys out
of games, loves so in theleague, wouldn't they be upset about that?

(05:42):
Go dude, I would think so. But I don't know, I've
never heard I've never heard different,and I don't really know, like I've
never seen what grades guys get right, And so I know that whenever there's
usually an influx of new refs, they stand out because they're just not good.

(06:02):
And I think it's a really hardjob, and so I think it's
like, if they have a guythat grades out really good, he's gonna
get really, really tough assignments. But it was funny Luca got his tech
and it wasn't from Brothers, andwhen he got that tech, he was
walking away, and so that's thekind of thing that really frustrates you.

(06:23):
He's walking away from the Raft andthe rest, like I'm gonna give you
a tech as you walk away. It's like, that's ridiculous. And it
happened at the most inopportune time inthe game because everything is landsliding, collapsing,
avalanching on top of the MAVs.So again, all those things work
against you. But ultimately the Maverickswere a better team at this stage in

(06:46):
the arc than the thunder are.The thunder don't have another guy that could
step up and get you buckets yet. And I thought, offensively, that
was Jalen Williams's best game. Yeah, yeah, he was good. I
mean it, their whole offense doesslow down and it's like, okay,
Shay go go win one on one. Yeah, and he just hits mid
range after mid range, after midrange. He can do whatever he wants

(07:10):
that. I have immense respect forhim and his game. And I really
like their team and it's gonna beexciting to see what they do. Obviously,
they have a great front office, they have a ton of picks,
they have a ton of young players. They've got the flexibility to do just
about anything. And you know,it's funny. You know, the people
were comparing okay see to the MAVs, and they're talking about the young team

(07:32):
versus the older team. And Iget that, But Lucas twenty five,
right, Lucas twenty five, PJ. Washington's twenty five, Gafford's twenty five,
Liveliest twenty, Jayden Hardy's what twentyone? Jis thirty two? That's
all people are saying to that forKyrie's thirty two. And I think Tim's
probably thirty one or thirty two somewherein there. Maybe he's thirty. I'm

(07:54):
not sure how old Tim is,but the only old players are Kyrie,
Tim Maxi, and Dwight Right,Dwight doesn't play. Tim's minutes have been
reduced greatly. I mean, JaydenHardy is now ahead of Dante XM and
Tim Hardaway Junior in the rotation. That's the thing that I did not see

(08:15):
coming was Dante ExHAM turning into apumpkin. Yeah. Man, he was
so good down the stretch in theregular season. He just got scared.
He got scared. He got scaredto shoot so many times, like why
you should have confidence? What areyou doing? He hit and think about
that shiny hitting Sacramento right after missinga couple. But he even he even
on the make, he was alittle shaky, you know, like I

(08:37):
don't know, there's just he gothe got in his head or something too
many times you see. Okay,So if Luca or Kai are gonna have
the ball, they're gonna get blitzedor doubled and they have to make the
pass. They have to make it. And there are certain guys on the
Mavericks that catch the ball with awide open look and then don't take it.
And when they do that, thewhole play breaks down and they floor

(08:58):
it. No, no, I'mnot gonna shoot this shot. I'm gonna
like drive and penetrate now and likenow you're going to the defense and you
end up getting a lesser shot. That type of stuff is really really frustrating,
But you know, you you haveto have other guys step up if
you're gonna win, if if ateam is gonna say, we're not letting
your superstars beat us, and theMavericks got that. Jones Junior was incredible.

(09:20):
He was incredible, and it madeup for the pact fact that PJ.
Washington had early foul trouble and Ithink he had one point going into
the fourth quarter. Uh, hedidn't get many kind of offense, but
they did get offense from Jones Junior. Uh. But the way that the
end of that game unfolded, anduh, I think in hindsight, you
know, it's easy to go OklahomaCity should not have used their final time

(09:45):
out, you know, questioning orchallenging that call. But it ended up
allowing PJ. Washington to gather hisbearings and for them to get the strategy
in place. Make these first twomissed the third and the game's over.
They're you're not gonna get Max Struetwice in one year, right, And
I'm so glad that he missed thatlast one because you're watching that and you're
thinking, okay, long inbounds,I'm thinking Christian Latner, right, I

(10:11):
mean probably chet Right. You getthe ball to chat, he goes up
super high. Yeah, catches it, turns around, and you know they
would have had time to get somethingmuch better than that off if he had
not missed. Yeah, he missedon Purvis. And then he also had
to make sure he got rim becauseif he slams it off the board or
airballs, that they get to inboundthe ball. And that's a problem.

(10:31):
The whole idea is live ball, someone's gonna touch it on a rebound,
the clock immediately start. Someone's gotto gather it and make a sixty footer.
Yeah, but none of that ispossible if he doesn't make the first
two. Yeah, and they hitthe rim and apparently they toilet bowled.
Yeah. And I was thinking ofMax Strews too. Yeah. I was
like, it happened to them alreadythis year. But uh, okay,

(10:52):
let's talk about the foul call.I saw people say, hey, man,
he hit the ball first. Shayhit ball first, So anything that
happens after that should not be afoul. Is that the way? The
rule is no, no, no, And that's not no, not at
all. But also he hit theball first, but from my angle or
what I saw, and I wasin the arena, but I was looking
over shoulders, the ball was stillin Pj's hands as his arm raked death.

(11:18):
He had not released the ball atthat point, right, So it's
a foul, okay. And thenafter the game, Shay Gilges Alexander was
like, I'm not even gonna watchthe play. It hurts too much.
I made a mistake. I foiledhim, And he said I if I
could do it over again, Iwouldn't foul him. Yeah, he didn't
say it was all ball and nowyeah, no, no, it was
a foul. But the replay guysshowing it on TV, they were,
as the announcers on team were saying, that's not going to be a foul.

(11:41):
I was like Richard Jefferson was saying, yeah, they were saying that
because he got ball first. Iwas real drunk, I don't remember,
but either way, I mean,I hate when fowls are called with two
point five seconds left, but ina playoff game, like yeah, it's
like the Hail Mary, like there'sno whatever happens. But in this case,
I enjoyed it very nice, andnow we have after tomorrow night,

(12:01):
we will have potentially fourteen straight daysof action because the MAVs and Stars are
now gonna be staggered. The MAVsgames. You can hear on ninety seven
point one the Eagle right here, pregame at seven Wednesday night with Kevin Gray.
How about that Wednesday, Friday,Sunday, Tuesday, and the Stars
will be Thursday, Saturday, Monday, Western Conference Finals. US. No,

(12:24):
we have Minnesota does not have ahockey team in the mix. Boston
has both of their teams in themix, I believe. And then yesterday
Jalen Brunson breaks his hand the Pacers. Rick Carlisle goes into Madison Square Garden
and takes what was rightfully his Ohis it's Pacers and Celtics in the Eastern
Conference Finals, as that game sevenhappened yesterday, and we get the Tea

(12:48):
Wolves. Yeah, I know,Tomorrow I assume we will break down what
everything we need to know about Minnesota. Right, Maybe he'll do it Wednesday,
Maybe we'll do it on game day, maybe we'll do it tomorrow.
Who knows. With the future holdsthat's happening in sports tonight and taking a
night off of sports. That's good. When Jalen Brunson broke his hand though,
that I mean the Pacers already puttingit on him. Yeah, it

(13:09):
was already happened. Yeah, dude, Indiana had been terrible on the road
in the playoffs. I did notsee that coming at all. But dude,
what if? What if there endedup being a Jason Kidd versus Rick
Carlisle NBA Finals. No, giveit to me, amazing that awesome Pacers

(13:37):
hard too. You don't want toplay Boston now in Austin. Boston was
the only team I thought that Isaw this year. And I'm talking about
the Mavericks didn't really play Boston afterthey had their full compliment of guys,
But that was the only team whereI was like, we do not match
up will with these people at all. This is a beautfto. It's all
wide open too, And this islike, what's crazy, is like Boston
heavy favorites to win the whole thingnow in the four God can wait up

(14:00):
one day and one of his ribsisn't there anymore, and it's like,
oh he gonna play that seems unlikely? Is uh? Has do we have
a return date for Porzingis. Iheard midway through the Conference finals. I
saw him today. Footage of himlike shooting half couple half court shots,
and as he walked away, helimped off badly. Really, I don't
know what the injury is, buthe looked he was walking funny, and

(14:20):
I'm used to seeing that. WhenKevin leaves my house right after you've worked
him over pretty good. Yeah, after we play one on one, Yep,
feels like he's gonna go ahead andretire. Oh, Phil is going
to retire? Well, it feelslike it. Oh he's gonna miss game
one. Yeah, there you haveit. He's right, Yeah, he's
right with his reporting. There hehave it. It's fantastic Around the Sports.
