You can call him and you canget pre qualified through him. You
can talk to him. A boydoing a cash out reef, I talked
to him about buying a house.Just reach out to him and think of
him as, you know, likea really intelligent, smart guy who's there

(01:12):
to help you through anything involving yourmortgage. Nine seven two nine eight five
fifty two hundred for Rodney Anderson andNFM lending. All Right, one of
the biggest stories in town is comingup momentarily as there is lots of hype
surrounding something. We'll get to thebottom of it all in the big finish,
but before that, it's time forthis. And now it's time for

(01:37):
Basis week Day Day, featuring veterannews anchor kg fon tweets. Here are
the important stories he's currently tracking fromaround the world. So at four oh
seven am this morning in Louisville,Kentucky, sixty nine year old John Mills
was struck by a shuttle bus infront of Gate two at Valhalla Country Club

(02:00):
where they're playing the PGA Championship currently. It's the second major of the year,
big tournament. I am shocked thatthere's a shuttle bus at four in
the morning. Well for workers, for workers, for people, probably well
you know that's interesting early morning, but they had seven amt times scheduled today.
Yeah, they're starting early. There'sa big field that's got to be

(02:22):
workers. So golf is strange becauseyou know many places at an event there's
parking. Golf famously not a lotof parking because their event area takes up
way more land than say Globally Fieldwith the Airlines Center. It's a country
club usually, so it's huge.Yeah, it's not like there's a bunch
of people at a country club atone time, but then you have thousands

(02:44):
of people descend upon this area andthere's no infrastructure. If you've ever been
to the Byron Nelson or the Colonial, which is coming up in two weeks,
you have to park somewhere and there'sa place where a shuttle bus will
take you to the course. It'sa five to ten minute thing. It's
not that big of a hassle, right, But when you're going up to
a major where there's two hundred thousandpatrons going there. Yesterday it was a

(03:05):
cluster getting in because Tiger played inthe morning, Rory played in the morning,
some big names played in the morning, So there's a big deal,
even just without any chaos. Nowwe have a fatality investigation, shutting down
traffic at one of the few entrancesto get to where we're going here to
the country club. Now, beforewe wire in why we're doing this story,

(03:29):
I'm going to read you guys thepolice report right now, and then
we'll kind of line everything up.We have one charge of assault to the
second degree of a police officer. That was a felony, by the way.
We have a charge of criminal mischief, We have a charge of reckless
driving, and we have a chargeof disregard signals from officers directing traffic.

(03:52):
This morning, the number one golferin the world, a guy who lives
here in Dallas, Scotti Scheffler, was arrested and sent to jail. I'm
gonna read you guys the police report. Okay. Detective Gillis was directing traffic
into Gate one of the Valhalla CountryClub due to the road being closed in
both directions from an earlier fatal collision. Remember I told you all four o'clock

(04:15):
listed subject was driving eastbound to gainaccess to the course. He pulled into
the westbound lanes where outbound traffic wasflowing into avoid backed up traffic Detective Gillis
was in the middle of the westboundlanes. He was in full uniform,
had a high visibility yellow reflective rainjacket on. He stopped the subject and
attempted to give instructions. Subject refusedto comply and accelerated forward, dragging Detective

(04:38):
Gillis to the ground. Detective Gillissuffered pain, swelling and abrasions to his
left wrist and knee was transported tothe hospital. Detective gillis uniform pants,
valued at approximately eighty dollars, weredamaged beyond repair. I took the police
report serious until the last sentence ofthe police report in which they said that
his eighty dollars pants were damaged, being okay, I think that's substantial.

(05:00):
First of all, I'm shocked thatthose police pants are eighty bucks. They
must have some like special body armorin him or something, or bulletproof detection.
I don't know, crotched bulletproof underwear, diaper calika. But yeah,
thank you. But I'm like, okay, if it damaged the pants,
be on repair. Maybe it didkind of hook the guy, Maybe it
really did kind of run him overa little bit. I thought you made

(05:23):
that last line up or or heflopped. In other words, he flopped
he jumped on the Yeah, hejumps on the car to act like,
oh my god, you're not listeningto me. I'm gonna make you pay
now. This is a felony boy. Yeah, you know that style.
And then maybe he's just scuffed theknee when he fell off of it or
something. Now before I tell youa little bit more, five am.
Okay. When this is going down, it is dark, it is raining,

(05:46):
okay, traffic dark rain, fatalityincident being investigated. Back there,
there's a lot going on. Noone's had breakfast yet. This is Jeff
Darlington ESPN on the scene because hewas in the same line that Scotty Scheffler
was in trying to get into thecountry. Copes is going to cover the
event and here's on the scene whileScotty is getting arrested. What do we

(06:12):
do? I'm saying that right now, right now, he's going to jail.
Okay, he's going to jail. And it ain't nothing you can do
about period. There's there's nothing youcan do about you on media a reporter,
that's all. I'm just I justwant to make sure that's But you
need to stand about it here yougot it? Okay? Okay, So

(06:34):
Scotty and I didn't play that part. But Scotty before that, about thirty
sixons before that, looks at JeffDarlington and basically probably probably knows that he's
media, probably didn't know him.Well, I'm just a big reader of
Jeff's work. But he goes, can you help me? As Scotty is
in handcuffs? Okay, So hewas hoping that somebody maybe he knew who

(06:54):
he was, maybe was and couldsay, hey, guys, that's Scotty
Scheffler. He's a part of thegolf tournament. He's not some fan trying
to run you over. He's tryingto get in there to work. Do
you think if we were to interviewthe entire this is two days ago,
if we were to interview every memberof the Louisville Police Force and said,

(07:15):
do you know who Scottie Scheffler is? What percentage of the police force knows
who he is? Not? Many? Twenty? I bet even less than
that. Yeah, maybe less thanthat. They know whiskey, they know
horse racing, and they know LouisvilleCardinal basketball, and like Rick Patino,
also know baseball, bats yes,I couldn't even identify him today, and
I'm from that he is the biggestathlete in your city, and that's terrible.

(07:39):
Yeah, but you have a biggervendetta against golf and Bill Simmons does
against Kyrie Irving. That's fair. Here's Jeff Darlington now, and this is
about when I woke up this morningand I turned on to go what the
hell happened? And this thing thatI love so much, this golfer.
I love majors and have gamble.I'm more of a back blue guy.

(08:00):
But you go ahead, right onone. What happened? It's by the
way, Scotty Scheffler pristine, pristinereputation until gipped his kid's birth to get
drunk at that uptown tavern. Thekid wasn't born. Turned out the kid
was born a couple weeks later,so he had time to go hang out.
And everyone's got a clean record untilthey run over their first police officer.
A right, here's Jeff Donaldson onTV now. Scotty Scheffler has been

(08:26):
detained by police officers, placed inthe back of a police vehicle in handcuffs
after he tried to pull around whathe believed to be security ended up being
police officers. They told him tostop. When he didn't stop, the
police officer attached himself to the vehicle. Scheffer then traveled another ten yards before
stopping the car. The police officerthen grabbed at his arm, attempting to

(08:50):
pull him out of the car, before Scheffler eventually opened the door, at
which point the police officer pulled Schefflerout of the car, pushed him up
against the car, and immediately placedhim in handcuffs. He very clearly did
not know what was happening in thissituation. It moved very quickly. The
police officers at that point did notunderstand that Scottie Scheffler was a golfer in

(09:13):
the tournament, or of course, that he is the number one player in
the world. Everything, okay,First of all, clearly it sounds this
this this is a Brady James situation. First of all, the police officer
puts himself on the car. He'slike, I'm going to tackle this car.

(09:35):
Yes, okay, And I don'tknow if it was at first it
was a ten yard game. Butlet's bring out the chains. Yeah,
I would too. Did you reallyget the first down? Was the car
moving? When he attached himself tothe car. Was he wearing Milcrow?
Right? There's a lot of questionsI have about that. Do we think
the cop thought it was John Rahm? Well, I thought was John rom

(09:56):
when you stopped at him, becausethere's a big lib allegation. Yeah,
maybe he thought it would the dairyfarmer and Inglorious Basterds. Maybe. But
there's also a couple of things here. They this is round two yesterday.
They were used to round well wellevent staff security guards, which you can
oh, is it different if youdragged a security guard to a police officer?
Clearly no. But all these players, and there are multiple players that

(10:20):
have spoken out today because they've beengetting bobarded with questions saying they were told
they had the credentials in the past. Whatever they need on their car if
you chose to drive. Some guyshave drivers. The number one player in
the world I think should have adriver. He's just a regular guy.
He is, he truly is.And you want to leave on your own
schedule. Yeah, okay, yeah, but they other golfers were doing this

(10:43):
move. Now, they were probablygetting stopped and show the badge or show
something marked on their car. Sohe had a misunderstanding at some point,
I'm guessing with the window down andthen don't I don't think he knew the
officer was attached to his car whenhe was going no, no, no,
this is just like you earlier inthe week when they had deactivated your
badge. This is still Scheffler wasscrambling because he left his badge back at

(11:09):
the hotel room and he was like, dude, I'm Scottie Scheffler. I
need to get through here. Andhe was like, dude, I'm not
messing around with this security guard.Yes, security guard is wasting my time.
If he tries to mess with me, he'll get fired. I'm Scotty
Schffler. And he kept going. And then the cop was like, my
pants are very expensive, and heattached himself to the car and got drug.

(11:31):
Yeah, so I think he's righton a lot of that. I
think Scheffler thought it was the securityguard clearly that guy you broke down and
he's like, hey man, looki gotta go. I'm not whatever,
thank you and waived and like, you know, I'm Lebron James with my
sport or whatever. Let me.I gotta go to do my thing,
and thought, no, matter what, he won't get in trouble with the

(11:52):
security guard. Then the police officeris deeply offended that somebody's not adhering to
his authority or not doing exactly whathe says. So now he's butt hurt.
He's insulted, his ego, nowhis police He goes like, oh
yeah, I'm gonna show you.Now this is a felony boot in your

(12:13):
way. But now we gotta havewe have to assume that there's body cam
footage, right am. I Idon't think you activate bodycam footage when you're
out there directing traffic. Will's Alaturusis a local golfer as well. He's
very good. He's been hurt,so he has. He's had a rough
year. He little bitty, uh, he's skinny and he looks like the

(12:33):
first caddy on Happy Gilmore. He'shard to find, but he did an
interview and he had spoken out aboutthe set up here this course. He's
like, I told my parents notto come because it's it's a cluster getting
in and out. There were compliantsalready. There's a big article written last
night about how it was a clustergetting into the tournament yesterday. Now you
add a fatality investigation. Here's whatwill Zlaturus said. He said they should

(12:56):
have held off play for four orfive hours Friday morning to thoroughly investigate the
fatality that caused the traffic back up. Then they said, instead, you
have Scotty Cheffer weaving in and outof traffic cones trying to get to the
golf course. And now he's arrested. Now as this is going down,
Internet's going wild, misinformation everywhere,of course, but they're talking about this

(13:18):
on ESPN, flip over the golfchannel, not a word, not covering
it at all. ESPN who's carryingthe tournament though, they're all over it
because they have Darlington there, Scottthey do it, and he did a
great job of getting cell phone footageof that. I mean, Johnny on
the spot there, Jeffrey on thespot. Here comes Jeffrey Darlington on the
spot. Yes, here comes Scottyas quickly gets processed and they show him

(13:41):
walking into or out of the countryclub and they've interviewed players and he's like
fist bumping. Ricky Fowler comes upat fist bumps him and he gets out
there and he starts warming up,and I'm going, oh my god,
how in three hours did he getprocessed, booked. There's already a mug
shot out of him. And thenback to the course quickly, and he
didn't do any of his warm upsand then he goes out shoots a five

(14:03):
under because he's a beast. Heis. He was shaking his post round
press conference, he talked about beingshaken and he was starting now, gonna
play this story real quick from yeah, he should have worn the orange jumpsuit.
He should would be credible. Hedoesn't have an out of personality.
Why don't you carry this over. It's a big story, carry it over.
Yeah, I don't have much tomuch to do, so yeah,
right, okay, right, butwe should be on time. Coming up

(14:24):
next in the big finish, weget the big finish on this story.
