The news you need.
Speaker 1 (00:15):
To start your day and the bomb beaches hack the
Treasure Coast. This is the Brian Mudshow. Yes, we are
protecting bomb beaches and honoring our fallen heroes. This is
the weekly tribute that is dedicated to the brave men
and women who leave their families, put in a badge,
go to work every day, never knowing what the heck
might not happen next. And we've had way too many
(00:36):
things go sideways over the years. And last year we
had well, I should say a couple of years ago,
we had some progress till last year now backslid quite
a bit. We saw significant increase a lot of duty
deaths across the country. A three hundred and forty two
officers shot in the line of duty one hundred and
(00:57):
sixty five died, both significantly increases. So far this year,
the pacing has been a lot better, so that is
the more encouraging news. Thirty two officers have fallen in
the line of duty, including one in Florida, and well,
among the really unfortunate things that happened over the past week,
(01:17):
there's Fox's CJ.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
Popham, six days after being shot in the face by
a road rage suspect. On June second, Patchie Junction Police
Department Chief Michael Pooley revealing the devastating news that Officer
Gabriel Fassio died of his injuries. I loved that guy, absolutely,
just love love Gabriel.
Speaker 2 (01:36):
His dad and his mom are crushed, his wife as
a devastated, his kids are.
Speaker 3 (01:41):
Lost, streets relied, but members of law enforcement and the
community to pay respect to the three year veteran of
the force. Police ACQUS thirty seven year old Roger Nunez
pulling the trigrapher is pulled over.
Speaker 1 (01:51):
Yeah, so a couple things about this. This happened in Arizona.
You hear the Apache Police Department. So you have this
road rage suspect, they pull them over, and this is
one of those deals where and when this is why
it's so important that we just stand by law enforcement.
The officer. You have this suspect come out, he brandishes
(02:12):
a gun. So now he's got a gun and he's
immediately pointing in the direction of the officers. They responded
with non lethal weapons. You know, so often I think
these days they're put on you. You just can't do that.
You can't use real gun you got somebody's pointing a
real gun at you, or even if you do, you don't,
(02:33):
you don't have time to know in this situation. You
do what you need to do. Instead, they use non
a lethal force and the suspect was able to get
off real shots and that's what ended up doing this here.
So you know, I godspeed, but I you wonder from
a training standpoint, it's what goes from my mind. Somebody
pulls a real gun on you, and what do you do?
(02:55):
You go for your taste or whatever it was that
they had there, And that's just I feels so awful
for the family, but also I think there's a lesson
to be learned here. By the way, suspect was wounded
with real return fire and has been charged with homicide.
Gabriel survived by a wife and two children. In Illinois,
(03:17):
officer Crystal Rivera shot and killed during the pursuit of
two armed suspects. Crystal struck with friendly fire during the confrontation.
These suspects fled the scene were captured shortly thereafter. Crystal
has survived by her daughter, And speaking of the families,
always important that we keep them in mind as well.
The average age of a fallen officer just thirty nine
years old, ten years of service. There are seventeen widows
(03:39):
and forty four children who've lost a parent. So this
is your weekly reminder that back to badge and spread
the word, because Lord knows that they need us every
bit as much as we need them.
Speaker 3 (03:50):
All right.
Speaker 2 (03:51):
Some Florida headlines so Florida's Attorney General James up Meyer
warning Florida will never be California. Law enforcement will not
tolerate riots as so called. No King's tests are planned
across the state, seven for Palm Beach County, including two
involving marches near mar Alago. There are at least a
few along the Treasure Coast as well. Time to take
attention away from a military parade in DC meant to
(04:13):
celebrate two hundred and fiftieth birthday of the US Army
and Flag Day, Brevard's sheriff had a stern warning for
protesters in his community. Sheriff Wayne Ivy yesterday was talking
about these planned protests, and he said that to anyone
who causes violence against his deputies, quote, we will kill you,
graveyard dead, and also warned his agency has big, beautiful
dogs and they bite by the way. And the Panthers
(04:36):
blew a three goal lead to the Oilers, fell in
overtime five before in Game four the Stanley Cup Final.
Game five will be tomorrow night in Edmonton.
