Speaker 2 (00:14):
It's the info you need to start your day in
the Bomb Beaches and the Treasure Coast. Never boring in
DC these days. And the man who covers the President
for a living is our White House correspondent John Decker,
and there is so much ground to cover. John, First,
we have had a lot of action overnight hour time.

(00:35):
Yet Israel last night's striking Iran at what is perceived
to be their lead nuclear facility. You had a drone
response by Iran. What are you hearing and what is
the outlook here this morning?

Speaker 3 (00:50):
Well, the first response from President Trump just within the
past hour on social media saying now is the time
for Iran to make a deal. You know that the
US has been trying to make a new nuclear deal
with Iran, the President saying the pressure is now on
Iran to make that deal given what is happening, what
Israel has begun against Iran and trying to eliminate the

(01:13):
nuclear threat that it poses, not only to the state
of Israel, but to the entire region. You know, from
the sidelines, silently, Saudi Arabia is cheering the Israelis on
for what the Israelis have begun over the course of
the past twenty four hours.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
And what's interesting, John, you know, President Trump just yesterday
before this it looks like strikes could happen, but he
was not a supporter of it, said that it could
derail the negotiations that had been going on, and the
post that you mentioned it seems to suggest the people
he had been negotiating with might no longer be with
the living.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
Yeah, that's right. You know, the Israelis had some targeted attacks,
and according to Israeli intelligence, they were successful in eliminating
some of those Iranian targets, people that were a very
senior in leadership as it relates to Iran's defense complex.
And so yeah, it's not clear obviously today, and I

(02:10):
don't know if we'll get confirmation from the Iranian government
in terms of which individuals may have been eliminated because
of these strikes.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
And so a couple things just kind of thinking through this. Recently,
you had President Tromp discuss President Putin of Russia offering
his help and negotiating with the Iranians. Course, Russia and
Iran aligned, although in theory Putin doesn't want the Mahas
and Iran to have nukes either, And so you have

(02:44):
kind of too bad actors here that the president trying
to negotiate with. What was the likelihood or what is
the likelihood of there being something that would be meaningful
coming out of those types of negotiations. Do we have
any context for that?

Speaker 3 (02:59):
Well, you know, I think it really depends upon what
Israel decides to do as it relates to this effort
to eliminate Iran's nuclear threat. And Israel has indicated that
the attacks that we saw occur last night are not
a one off. It may occur over the course of
the next few days or next few weeks. So I

(03:20):
think to a certain extent, the US and Russia will
both be looking on to see what Israel decides to do.
Of course, they there will be conversations happening at the
very highest levels between the US government and the Israeli government,
between President Trump and Prime Minister Netan Yahoo. Obviously, the
US wants to be read in in terms of what

(03:42):
Israel's intentions are and what their endgame is, you know,
not just you know, in the short term, but also
in the long term. I think that Russia too, is
just looking in on this. Even though, as you point out, Brian,
when President Trump spoke by foam with President Putin last week,
hard to believe that was last week, Brian, But when

(04:04):
they met last week, one of the topics was Iran,
and according to the readoubt from the White House, they
both agreed that they are adamant that Iran should not
develop nor should it possess any type of nuclear program.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
And just kind of the tie back together here. So
you had mentioned that Saudi Arabia kind of silently supporting
Israel's efforts. Might there be a situation where President Trump
was saying one thing publicly that he didn't want Israel
to strike, that he wanted to continue to negotiate they
were close to a deal, but privately, especially given you know,
his seeming support or at least like condemnation of what

(04:43):
Israel's done here this morning, Ny, possibly a situation where
behind the scenes he is like, yeah, bb go for it.

Speaker 3 (04:49):
Yeah. I think that is very possible. You know, the
America's strongest ally in the Middle East is Israel. It's
strongest Arab nation ally in the Middle East is Saudi Arabia,
and there Israel and Saudi Arabia growth on the same
page in terms of realizing the threat that Iran's nuclear
ambitions posed to the entire region, so that could indeed

(05:12):
be happening. The President's saying one thing publicly, but obviously
trying to make certain that Israel's ambitions, its intentions are
such that it does not derail America's effort to have
these conversations with Iran, and also it doesn't blow up

(05:32):
into a larger conflict in the Middle East.

Speaker 2 (05:36):
Great information and insight. Really appreciate you taking the time
to share with us.

Speaker 3 (05:40):
Thank you so much, John, Thanks Brian, have a great
day and great weekend. Talk to you soon.
