(00:00):
Help us. You your spot on, repeat me the Brian mud Show.
All right, now, I haveshared with you the Florida Gateway data shows
most migrant flights landing in Governor DeSantus's Sunshine state. The expos by Todd
Ben's been for the Center for ImmigrationStudies. Todd joining us now, sure

(00:22):
well. The Biden administration about ayear ago plus a couple of months stood
up a couple of programs designed toreduce the bad optics of mass migration at
the physical land border. You know, all those thousands of people pouring in
and you know Fox News drones flyingover it. And what they decided to

(00:44):
do was to give permits to peoplethat were going to cross the border and
have them cross with permission instead. And there are two ways that they did
at one is, you know, you go on a cell phone app called
c and schedule your illegal crossing onthe app and you can cross over at

(01:06):
a land bridge. And the otherone is that you can just stay home
or in your third country somewhere, apply for it and fly in directly.
I was interested in the flights, the direct flights, and asked for the
data. Which airports are you leaving? Are they leaving and which airports are
they arriving in in the United Statesand lo and behold, they wouldn't tell

(01:29):
me, So we had to sueon our Floyer request, and they still
won't tell us. We still don'thave it, but we were able to
figure out just from manipulating the publicthe scant public data that is out there
the general regions where customs officers arechecking them in by nationality, and it

(01:53):
turns out that Florida is, likeyou know, Numero Uno, is the
nation number one landing zone for hundredsof thousands flying in from probably Latin America,
South America, the Caribbean, Mexico. And that would probably be due

(02:14):
to the proximity of those foreign airportsto Florida, you know, because it's
because just the geography of it.But also you know, these are mostly
Haitians, Cubans, Venezuelans, andNica Laguins, and the first three nationalities
already have, as you know, large expatriate communities in Florida, so family

(02:37):
connections and job connections and friends andthings like that, so it also makes
sense for those particular nationalities to wantto fly into Florida directly. Today it's
incredible what you're you're talking about here, And I just want to drill down
a little bit because this is Ithink for most people, and an entirely
new wrinkle on this. You know, for the duration of the Biden administration

(02:59):
to date, we've been familiar withthe essentially open border, the abuse of
this islum system. Then they oftenend up on government assistance programs and most
never even show up to eventual courtdates, which now can go seven years
into the future. That's all observedon its face as it is. But
what you're now talking about is theBiden administration not even having people come to

(03:21):
the southern border to the Clare asylumdoing so electronically fly these people into our
communities and they blend in with everybodyat the airports, and you can't really
tell one of these apart from anybodyelse. And that's part of the problem
is, you know, you cansee the mass migration happening at the border
because there's thousands of them standing therein the river. You know, this

(03:46):
is a kind of migration that isinvisible. Nobody can see this. I
have yet to meet one of thesepassengers anywhere. I don't even know how
to find them. How would youeven locate when it's these immigrants who use
this program? Well, Todd,And it's long been a frustration of Governor
DeSantis and other officials and other statescertainly, And it's been a question that

(04:11):
comes up regularly, you know, with listeners, which is why is it
that the state doesn't do more?Is it that they just simply don't have
any way of knowing about this?Well? You know, yeah, I
mean states have limited authorities over thiskind of a thing. You know,
this is a you know, it'sa federal you know, check in process.
You know, you fly in froma foreign airport, you got to

(04:33):
go through customs, Federal customs officers, not Florida law enforcement. So on
something like this. I mean,I don't know what you can do.
I'm guessing that the Governor's office iskind of going through its analysis of what
they could or couldn't do. Theythe governor has not really said anything about

(04:57):
this, even though at least threehundred twenty six thousand of these immigrants were
flown right into his state, andI'm pretty sure he didn't know about it.
I don't think the governor he hasn'tsaid whether he knew about it.
Or not. In fact, hehasn't really said anything at all except that,
well, we're already suing. We'rein a lawsuit against the programs that

(05:18):
include this one, which are lawsuitsthat are not doing very well right now.
By the way, I am curiousto know what the governor knew and
if he ever knew about this orsuspected it or heard about it. But
I don't think so, And Ithink that governors in states where this is

(05:38):
happening have a light to be toldabout it so that they can plan budgets
and resources or petition their leaders inWashington like anybody else, to stop doing
it. The State of Boredom hashad a lot of assistance for Texas,
in particular state resources personnel to assistefforts in recent years. Currently have a

(06:03):
number of guardsmen deployed along with Floridalaw enforcement. They'll routinely say that most
of the southern border crossers that they'recoming across are looking to go to Florida.
You're now talking about the solid majorityof those that have been flown in
with these these migrant flights that they'regoing to Florida. Is it still the

(06:24):
case largely that wherever the migrants wantto go, is ultimately where they're being
directed or given the volume that we'reseeing to Florida specifically, is that something
that is a bit more intentional attimes? Well, first of all,
you're right, you know, I'min Floridas, Mexico right now, and
I've been spending the last three orfour days with immigrants, and I always

(06:45):
ask them where you're going, andyou know, they'll tell me, and
very often it's Florida and what we'regoing to Florida. We have friends there
or relatives or whatever. My sister'sthere, my cousins there or whatever.
So and there's no Once they're releasedin a day or two after crossing,
they're processed in, it's self directed. They can go wherever they want.
They can go to any city theywant and set up shop, plug into

(07:10):
the social welfare safety net and everything, do their cases there, and they
can move somewhere else if they want. It's not directed. They just go
where it makes sense for them togo. They'll go to where they can
find work, they'll go to wherethey can find free benefits. Once they
land in Florida. I suspect thatsome number of them, I don't know

(07:31):
how many transfer after customs to adomestic flight and go somewhere else. They
may not all be staying in Florida. So that three hundred and twenty six
thousand that I cite in the article, you know, that doesn't mean that
they all stayed there in Florida, but I think a lot of them did.
And Todd, I know you havea brand new piece just out in
the Daily e Mail. You wantto give us a little bit of a

(07:54):
heads up about that. Yeah,I am and Juarez, Mexico, and
you know, there's a couple thing'sgoing on here. One is that you
know, there are people that aregiving up and trying to get over the
border, but the state of Texasis blocking them with barbed wire razor wire.
It's like World War one battlefield outhere. I kid you not.

(08:15):
Go to my Twitter account, BensmanTodd and look at the video I'm posting
from my drone about what Texas hasbeen doing. That's one part of the
story. But then on the otherside of town, the cartels are running
thousands of immigrants over the wall andthrough the wall, cutting holes in it,
and they're running into New Mexico bythe thousands. Big epidemic over there.

(08:41):
The story in the Daily Mail isabout that part of the border crisis
that few Americans are even aware ofis happening. They're runners and got aways,
and just sort of describes the carteloperation here in Juarez. Thank you
so much for the work you havedone that you continue to do. It's

(09:03):
it's a service this country desperately needs. Thank you so much. Thank you
for having me. Yeah, Centerfor Immigration Studies just unbelievable.
