In each episode of this second four-part series, host Hadijah Munting continues to
supplement her conversations with interludes of bird calls from threatened and endangered
Australian birds. Fern wrens, western whip birds and other Australian birds calls from the
album ‘Songs of Disappearance’ enhance each episode of ‘Art Layers with Hornsby Art
Society’.
In Episode 1, Series 2, Hadijah is joined by Chris Beard, President of the Hornsby Art
Society, to talk about the ongoing exhibitions and community involvement at Hornsby’s
Wallarobba Arts and Cultural Centre.
This episode also focuses on one of the world’s oldest art forms, sewing: the fundamental
process underlying a variety of arts and crafts, including embroidery, tapestry, quilting,
applique, patchwork and couture techniques. Hadijah will chat with guest Marg Storey about
what it is like to be creative in the world of textiles.
Music is a universal art form, and singer-song-writer Kane Stewart is a band member of not
one, but three original bands. Conversations with Kane are sure to inspire and entertain, and
listeners will be blown away by his song ‘The Miner,’ performed by Kane’s band Whiplash.
