The California Jazz Foundation is pleased to announce “Fresh Voice, Old Soul,” the fourth episode of its new podcast series “Sonic Tonic,” which is available on the CJF website and via Facebook, Google, Twitter, and Spotify.
“Fresh Voice, Old Soul” features Porée’s in-depth interview with Kait Dunton, a Los Angeles-based composer and pianist with an unconventional approach to composition and to the jazz piano trio. Kait leads the group trioKait and has produced and released five albums of original compositions. Her music has garnered many fans, as evidenced by her 20,000+ monthly Spotify listeners.
Porée’s second guest is guitarist Bruce Forman, who has been making positive waves in jazz circles for over 30 years. A seasoned player with top-level skills as a leader, entertainer, and sideman, he creates soulful, lyrical melodies, inventive harmonies, and solid accompaniment. Bruce has played and recorded with such greats as Ray Brown and Clint Eastwood and is an artist-in-residence at USC’s Studio/Jazz Guitar Department.
