Speaker 1 (00:00):
Eason's Daily Morning Bets. Here's your host, Dave Ross and
West Reynolds.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Okay, on this Monday morning, as you're having your black coffee,
no sugar, America, have you stayed up waiting on the
East coast and you're watching the Billy Joel concert.

Speaker 3 (00:15):
Are they miffed this morning when they wake up.

Speaker 1 (00:17):
I believe that they are, and they're probably flooding the
CBS affiliates in the eastern end sent doing. That's why
West is best, Dave, because we get the full we
get the full deal. We don't get the audio of
course in the studio, but we're looking on our CBS
monitor and watching Billy Joel. This was from the end
of March, where this is Billy Joel one hundred at
Madison Square Garden, one hundredth time of selling out Madison

(00:40):
Square Garden. Absolutely so he sells out more than the
Knicks in the Blue Shirts in Madison Square Gardener, at
least as much. But AnyWho, Yeah, they cut it off
because the golf ran over. Of course, the Masters ran over,
and they ran the full sixty minutes in the full
primetime program. They literally I'm seeing videos because I'm seeing
this all over the timeline from people in the Eastern

(01:00):
and Central time zones. They literally cut him off during
Piano Man.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
How do you do that?

Speaker 1 (01:06):
And I don't even think they aired the encores because
I was looking at the at the at the set list.
So the encore he ad was, we didn't start the
fire uptown girl. It's still rock and roll to me,
big shot, you may be right. Classics, Classics play the
hits exactly and and you know, and they cut it
off during piano Man, and I did steal one of
your line. You're like, if you're gonna cut him off,

(01:27):
cut him off during honesty, great song, but you don't
cut It's not piano Man. It's not piano Man. So
a lot of people on the East Coast upset. So
we've got to try to get some winning bets out
there for those folks.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
We're gonna make you feel much better this morning, everybody,
So calm down. If you didn't get to hear piano Man.
By the way, see billion concert like Wesson I have.
It's fantastic show and they can't cut off piano Manfait'll
see him.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
And staying out here in Las Vegas at Allegiance Stadium
pretty dark cool.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
Speaking of the East Coast, rise and shine baseball, early
baseball in Beantown.

Speaker 3 (01:58):
It is the Boston Marathon. Due it's pretty darn cool. Obviously.
I always think back to David Arties, this is our blank.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
And yeah, it's it's a Patriots Day is what it's called. So,
you know, since eighteen ninety seven, the Boston Marathon has
taken place on Patriots Day, and the Red Sox always
play a game at Fenway Park, a very early pitch.
So this is eleven eastern eight o'clock here on the
West coast.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
That is since eighteen ninety seven.

Speaker 1 (02:24):
That's unbelievable that the marathon has taken place. Welly Mac
every day on Patriots Day.

Speaker 2 (02:30):
Well, the Ghost Exter Runnings, they put a ghost runner
out there, so it can't be a marathon baseball game.

Speaker 3 (02:34):
Try to end these things quickly.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
So it's a it's an eight it's an eight to
ten start out here in the West Coast.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
Yeah, and I was looking. I was like, okay, are
there any day games tomorrow? And I was like, oh
my god, that's right. It's Patriots Day, so Xavian Curry
against Cutter Crawford. You know, now Curry. With the injury
to Shane Bieber, he's got to be the starter for
the for the Guardians season debut. He had a viral
illness for the last month. Two rehab starts with triple

(03:01):
A Columbus one run over seven innings. So look, Curry,
he's got to get used to being a starter. He's
more of a reliever and that's what he was last year.
The offense has been top ten in WRC plus. They
came back on Sunday against the Yankees. Jose Ramirez not
playing very well, who's like their MVP candidate ops of

(03:21):
just six ninety two. So the Guardians offense has been
okay and the Red Sox have been a little bit
better to start the season. A lot of it is
because of Cutter Crawford, who's going to go for the
Socks tomorrow on Patriots Day. Three starts, he's only given
up one on run eighteen strikeouts in fifteen and two thirds.
He's got that sweeper pitch that's been really successful and
effective that he added in the off season. So you know,

(03:45):
if you look at the Red Sox lineup, though, Dave
on offense, not a lot of stars. You've got Rafael Devers,
and then you've got a bunch of guys you hadn't
heard of. But Dever's been probably the weak link in
the lineup so far one eighty four, just two home runs.
He's missed four with shoulder injury. But Tyler, I know
who came from Saint Louis as seven home runs, most
in the league. Mash Aaron Durhan has been good. But

(04:05):
after that, I think the Red Sox have been lacking
a little bit. Probably the way to attack this if
you don't believe in Xavon Curry, you know who's got
to be used to get to being a starter. And look,
you're coming up from Triple A and now you know
with the with the big ball club, maybe look at
the first five with the Red Sox, which is about
a dollar thirty five. I think in the overnight that

(04:27):
might be the way I would look here.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
All right, So dollar thirty for the game, maybe a
little bit longer price at dollar thirty five for the
first five for the Socks. Not a bad way to
start off your Monday morning bets. We do have some
Eastern Conference hockey that's got some playoff implications here, So
let's run through a couple of these scenarios, because it
feels like the West pretty much set still some things
to be decided in the East with some of these
games today on a Monday, how about the Isles and

(04:51):
the Devils. And right now as I take a look
at the board here, we're going to at Minustar twelve
for the Isles on the road Devil's at home minus
dollar eight.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
Isles lost a shootout on Saturday at the afore mentioned
MSG at Madison Square Garden to the Blue Shirts, three
to two on Saturday. Blue Shirts, by the way, number
one in the East right now at one hundred and
twelve points, so they may be the seeding's kind of funky.
I'll call it the number one seed. But they do
it a lot differently now it's not one verse eight,
four verse five. They do it by division and have

(05:22):
them matched up that way. But Islanders going on the
road to play the Devils. Devils are now officially eliminated
from the playoff chase. But look the Devils. They did
go beat the Maple Leafs on the road on Thursday,
so the Devils would love to spoil obviously the Islanders.
That's an old school rivalry Islanders at ninety points, so
there have been six spots wrapped up, by the way

(05:43):
in the East, Boston, Florida, Toronto. The top three in
the Atlantic. In the met are the Rangers, Carolina Islanders third,
but they have not clinched with points. Tampa Bay Lightning
have already clinched with ninety six points. So the Islanders
right now have a three point lead with two games
to play on the Caps on Detroit, on Philadelphia, and
a four point lead over Pittsburgh. So the Islanders, look,

(06:08):
if they get a point, I think that they wrap
up a playoff spot here. So they're just looking for
that point and they get it to that extra period
and get one points, two points obviously would totally clinch it.

Speaker 3 (06:19):
And pressureing that right we're right there at the finishing.

Speaker 1 (06:21):
There is and I think maybe you'll see, maybe you'll
see these teams play tight small into the under with
six here because this is essentially a playoff game for
the New York Islanders. And then I did mention those
teams behind, one of them being the Washington Capitals. Two
game left to play. The Capitals, by the way, will
have the Bruins coming in. Who are the leaders in
the Atlantic Division, third most points in the East. Bruins

(06:45):
beat Pittsburgh and really sunk Pittsburgh's hopes even though they're
still mathematically alive. But the Caps, now they did beat
Tampa Bay on Saturday at home, so now you're getting
a dot of dollar thirty six at home. Total total
five and a half too. Those used to be commonplace
holts in the NHL. I mean, I mean we're not

(07:06):
exactly talking like Devils neutral z own trap here, when
like they were like four and a half in the
nineties practically when they were playing in the playoffs. But yeah,
very low total here for these two teams. Gaps obviously
up against it having to do this at home. Meanwhile,
the teams that are behind them, the Penguins about a
dollar thirty against the Nashville Predators. Predators, by the way,

(07:29):
have clinched at least the first wild guard spot. They
have ninety nine points, so they are already in the playoffs.
You know, this is this is winn or go home
basically for Pittsburgh because they're at eighty six points and
they're at the bottom right now, like I was saying,
behind the Washington and then of course the Islanders at
ninety points, Islander is probably going to get one of

(07:50):
those two remaining spots. And then you also have Detroit
and Philadelphia. No Philadelphia game tomorrow on Monday, but the
Red Wings do host the Canadian Ends. Canadian Ends the
second worst team in the East. So Red Wings laying
about two dollars, so you would expect that they would
get two points there, you would.

Speaker 2 (08:08):
Think, so very quickly before we say it, good morning
to you for this edition of your Monday Morning bets
Here in the NBA Tomorrow on a Tuesday, Lakers against Pelicans.
Hopefully you were able to catch our whole telecast on
Sunday night with Michael J.

Speaker 3 (08:22):
Duarte covers the Lakers, and he kind.

Speaker 2 (08:24):
Of put out a theory there like it behoove the
Lakers to lose this game. And I know it sounds
crazy because you've got to win at least one and
we'll put them in jeopardy of having to beat the
winner of the Kings in Golden State game to keep going.

Speaker 3 (08:36):
But Michael Duarte.

Speaker 2 (08:37):
Believes it would help the Lakers to lose this for
a better pathway get.

Speaker 3 (08:42):
Wrong host that playing game. Do you buy that theory
against the Pelicans I do.

Speaker 1 (08:47):
Buy the theory. It seems like so freaking wrong though,
I know, because it's like, do you really want to
play a second game necessarily and then do that risk
or do you'd want to just beat a team that
you beat pretty handily today in the New Orleans Pelicans.
Now what that would do? That lock them in the seven?
They obviously get the Denver Nuggets, who are the two seed,
and that's a more challenging that's more challenging first round matchups. Certainly,

(09:10):
so what you're seeing right now. Lakers won some re
play the Pelicans on the revenge agle taking them plus
the one. There's also some pick them out there because
the Pels did get beat pretty solidly on Sunday.

Speaker 3 (09:23):
Fascinating to see what's going to go down.

Speaker 2 (09:25):
Will we begin the play in scenario of the second
season in the NBA two games on the West coast
Sacramento in New Orleans on Tuesday, and then we go
to the East coast for the Eastern Conference with Philadelphia
hosting Miami and the Bulls hosting the Hawk
