Speaker 1 (00:11):
Okay my first guest. Tonight has been in the industry
since they were a week child. It's been twelve years
since their breakout single. Father said you might know her
album Better in Black. It just turned five. She's celebrating
her thirtieth birthday in December. She's got seven ARIA nominations
and three platinum and one gold singles. It is do
you want to know only Filma Palm Hi, Filma? You
know I did the math actually, and this is your

(00:33):
second time on the show technically once it was a
chaotic logis no Aria's red carpet Arias?

Speaker 2 (00:39):
Yeah, I recover so welcome for the first time.

Speaker 3 (00:41):
Chaotic. It truly is so chaotic.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
Thank you.

Speaker 3 (00:43):
It's chaotic at the Arias on the carpet it's too
much and hot, always well hot, like so many elements.
It's like, I'm literally just like out here trying to
exist and it's like and be cute.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
And I'm like, guys, we're creatives. Were like, I'm interviewing artists.
We want to wear looks, we want to have leathers,
and people have wigs on and head pieces and then
they put it under the direct Aussie sun.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
Stupid.

Speaker 3 (01:06):
I really don't know why they keep doing it. It's
like literally or get like a shade cloth, like you know,
like they are shade cloths available.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
I agree, or just do it indoors like everyone else.
So this is your first time technically in the studio.
I am so excited because your brand new album is
out now and I was listening with my producer Grace,
and it's every there's a through line throughout the whole thing,
but every song is so different and truly surprised me
really because it like is world class music.

Speaker 3 (01:34):
Oh my god, stop it.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
No. I want to congratulate you because it sounds really nice.
You must be proud and happy that it's out.

Speaker 3 (01:40):
I am really proud and happy that it's out. I'm
actually kind of like relieved it's out now as well,
because it's no longer mine, it's yours, and it just
feels I think for I don't know, it just was
like for me, it's been so long in the making
that I just kept building it up in my brain
and I was like, this is, oh my god, it's
going to be and now I can't do that anymore
because it's literally out.

Speaker 2 (02:01):
Yeah yeah, and like you've removed yourself.

Speaker 3 (02:03):
From it, really completely removed myself from it, and it's
like this is now just something that I'm going to
like share, rather than something that is like can you
stand there? Well, you know, it's like I don't know,
it's like less exposing now, even though I have now
been been exposed.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
Well you are exposed.

Speaker 1 (02:18):
I speak to so many artists about this, and they
all say very similar things that they make an album.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
It takes so long, right, and it's like a baby.
It's a child. It's like a body of work that
you put so.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
Much time and effort into and then it's out into
the world and people consume it in such a flippant way,
like they're listening to the car or they're listening on
the commute, And for you, i'd imagine it's like I
put so much time and doo.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
It be careful. And it's like it's funny as well,
because like doing you know, promo and stuff about the record,
you kind of it takes you back to this place.
I would think about where I was when I wrote
this song, and it's like, oh my gosh, some of
these songs I was so sad. Yeah, So anyway, but.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
Were I listened to some of this and some might
hug felt me.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
Pa, So what's the period? When did you put this together?
When did you start working on the app?

Speaker 3 (03:03):
I started working on the record in twenty twenty, which
is just I know, it's so long ago. But then
you know, she was in London. COVID happened. I had
to leave so I could make it back in the country,
and then I kind of put that on hold. I
made another record. I made an EP about Brisbane because
I love Brisbane. I really love it so much. The
story Bridge, It's just beautiful. I love the story Bridge.

(03:26):
I mean also, while looking at this like incredible view
of I know I've got to say Brisban, I'd love Brisie.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
But now I'm like, well, well, we're on airon Brisbane
right now. We love Brisbane.

Speaker 3 (03:36):
I love Brisain. I'm just kidding because that's I know
where on air and Brisbane, and I know that Brison
is great and so all cities matter anyway, You're.

Speaker 2 (03:46):
So right, yeah, yeah, right, Well wait was it ten
years since we had like your first bit of music
in the world?

Speaker 3 (03:52):
Ten years? So I am I'm kidding. Yeah, in December
December twenty first Gravy Day, So I was seventeen when
so that's you know, you do the math, but it's
a really long time ago.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
Wow, yeah, that would that is twelve years yeah with
father said first, Yeah, I remember, oh my god, all
the all the filmer fans being.

Speaker 2 (04:16):
Like, oh, you're a baby, because you were.

Speaker 3 (04:19):
A child, literally a child, Like I cannot even when
I think back, I'm like, what, you had no business
signed in a record deal?

Speaker 2 (04:26):
What are you?

Speaker 3 (04:27):
You're not you can't even get a you can't even
get a loan, you know, like what the hell?

Speaker 2 (04:32):
But you look back in like great memories.

Speaker 3 (04:34):
Right, Oh my god, such great memories, And I mean
it's pretty crazy, Like I feel so grateful I finished
high school and then you know, I immediately started doing this,
so I mean, that's really lucky. It's so funny because
coming through the office here, I got so excited because
I have not really ever been in an office setting
so often when I see them, it's like when I

(04:54):
come to do radio or when I go to the label,
and I was like, this would be this would be
a fun life too, this would be how I would live.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
What would you do? What role would you have? Because
I've got thoughts.

Speaker 3 (05:04):
I think that I could be someone that would sort
out issues, so I could be. Yeah, and because it's
like I want all the tea, do you know what
I mean?

Speaker 2 (05:16):
Grace and Mitch have had a dispute in the office.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
Okay, okay, they work together very closely, but at the
Christmas party they had a little kiss. But they're finding
that Grace is finding that Mitch is telling everyone in
the office and Grace is it doesn't want it to
be office chat.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
How would you solve that?

Speaker 3 (05:31):
I would say Grace should get everyone from the office
into the room and in front of everyone. We should
all discuss it together and she should call you out
in front of now.

Speaker 1 (05:42):
See, I love the idea in theory, but that's very
much Love Ireland.

Speaker 3 (05:48):
And that sounds like HR to me. Maybe like fight
it out now, get her.

Speaker 2 (05:52):
Girl, leave your truth.

Speaker 1 (05:54):
Hey, I want to talk more about the album. I
want to play my favorite off off the album, if
you don't mind, It is track number six, Nobody's Baby
is my favorite. I love it. So we're going to
play it and then when we come back we'll hear
more about it. And obviously the Big three I is incoming. Yes,
we've got life questions to answer. Okay, film will Plum
with us next on Kiss We're Back around the Country,
film of Palms in the Studio, Filma High.

Speaker 2 (06:17):
Thirty in December.

Speaker 3 (06:18):
Thirty in December thirty, thirty and thriving.

Speaker 2 (06:20):
How are you feeling? Are you feeling?

Speaker 1 (06:21):
I'm thirty, thirty and thriving. Because for a lot of people,
it's me next year. I'm scared.

Speaker 2 (06:25):
Oh you're baby twenty.

Speaker 3 (06:27):
Nine, your baby. I wish we'd have swapped. No, as
you can tell, I feel great about it. No, I
feel really good about it. I think that everyone I
know says that thirty is just a really great time
they do of your life, and I believe it because
they really do seem to be living their best life.
So I was feeling a bit funny about it, but
now I'm feeling really good about it, and I feel proud,

(06:48):
kind of like reflecting on the last like again like
twelve and a bit years, it's like this is exciting
and too Lisa Record at the very end of my
twenties feels a little bit like, what's she going to
do next? Where will you be at thirty? Yeah, I'm excited.
I feel good about it.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
I'm sorry now say it back is officially out. Now
that's the album. Go give it a listen, go give
it a stream. In arguments, because I mean, I'm sorry,
now say it back to me just speaks. I've had
arguments with x's and oh my god, like to get
someone that just is not good at saying sorry or
apologizing to apologize, how.

Speaker 2 (07:20):
Do you get it out of them? What's I mean?

Speaker 3 (07:21):
You just can't. I think that's something that I've learned finally.
But you just simply cannot make someone say sorry, even
if you're like, I'm sorry, now sit back, you know,
because but it's like you can't, And I think I
don't know. I think saying sorry is just such a
wonderful thing. It's like, why would you not want to
even if it's something that maybe you don't understand necessarily,
It's like, wouldn't you just want to be like this

(07:43):
is something that obviously has really upset someone, and I
do feel really bad about that. Yes, I think that
saying sorry is just one of the best skills everyone.
It's a sign of emotional intelligence. We should all do
it more, only if we mean it.

Speaker 2 (07:59):
I agree, Yeah, I agree with you, But also like
it's not that hard to.

Speaker 3 (08:02):
It's literally not It's like grow grow up, grow.

Speaker 1 (08:05):
And get if you're ship out of the way and
just say sorry if someone wants to just do it,
you know, hard to do.

Speaker 2 (08:11):
What is your love language? What are you?

Speaker 3 (08:13):
Okay? Change me like gift receiving? No, I think okay.
My love language is it's probably like like what's the
one quality time time? I'd love to spend time. But
also like I love affirmations as well, so I also
love to be like guess what, let's tell you, Let's
stare into each other's eyes and say, like what we

(08:35):
love about each other?

Speaker 2 (08:36):
Yes, yeah, I'm I'm like all of them. I'm sad.

Speaker 3 (08:39):
I can see that for me that you are.

Speaker 1 (08:41):
All of them just want to be spoiled, you know,
give me, give me gifts, give me, love to me,
touch me.

Speaker 3 (08:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (08:46):
But then also I'm like I'm a Libra, so instantly
I'm like I pull off. I'm like too much.

Speaker 3 (08:49):
Okay. I also feel this because well I'm a Sagittarius.
Time a bit like, but then my moon is a cancer,
which is like very emotional, so inside me a two
WL so one is like incredibly like wow, this is
so upsetting and sad. Yes, so sad, and then the
other half like, oh well yeah, it's.

Speaker 2 (09:07):
Like that's who I've got right now, that's the film
where I've got. Now, it's like an album out.

Speaker 1 (09:10):
Who cares? And now next for you? Where do you
go next from this album? Or what do you do creatively?

Speaker 3 (09:17):
You know, I really don't know, and that is just
I cannot tell you how exciting that feels for me.
I think I would really love to go back to London.
I want to create music overseas. I really want to
just like live in London for a bit. I'd love to.
It's so funny because now I'm like, I'm ready to
make the new record, but this one's only been out

(09:38):
for days, so I just said, well, I will take
a bit of a break.

Speaker 2 (09:42):
This is the new record.

Speaker 3 (09:43):
Yeah, this is You don't get what. I'm dropping another
one tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (09:48):
I'm happy, you're happy.

Speaker 3 (09:49):
Thank you so much.

Speaker 1 (09:50):
Congratulations on the album, which is brilliant. I'm sorry, I'll
say it back is out now and then thirty in December.
Happy birthday.

Speaker 3 (09:55):
Thank you so much, Darlin.

Speaker 2 (09:57):
I've got your babes, I got your back.

Speaker 3 (09:58):
Thanks so much.

Speaker 2 (09:58):
Welcome the show and I'll see you as in a
few weeks.

Speaker 3 (10:00):
We'll see each other. They're really hot and crazy.

Speaker 2 (10:02):
Nominated.

Speaker 3 (10:03):
No, I didn't release any music in time. It's like
missed the cutoff.

Speaker 2 (10:08):
Yeah, but I mean seven nominations, is it.

Speaker 3 (10:10):
Yeah, I think they should.

Speaker 2 (10:11):
Have made me.

Speaker 3 (10:12):
They should have made an exception for you. I gotta go.

Speaker 2 (10:15):
I agree, yeah that.

Speaker 1 (10:16):
Yeah, the Other Wolf is coming out now and this
is the ego diva coming out thumba Plum.

Speaker 3 (10:22):
I love you, thank you, all right, everybody
