So we are going to be opening a beer or
a soft drink. You guys have to tell whether it's
a beer a sovereign just.
Speaker 1 (02:15):
By the sound of the can opening. That's the way
the game works.
Speaker 2 (02:17):
Ten thousand dollars if you get nine in a row
and a little bit of a curveball, mind the pun.
Given that we're down at the AO, this other woods.
Speaker 3 (02:24):
Floody earth, that is a curveball.
Speaker 4 (02:25):
Indeed, will because we are at the tennis I am
surrounded by canisters of balls. And for those people that
are into tennis, you would know that you can crack
open a can of tennis balls. So today our first
player is going to be Megan and Megan. Today it
is either soft drink, beer, or canister of tennis balls.
Speaker 3 (02:52):
Megan, Yeah, did you get that?
Speaker 5 (02:55):
Yeah, I've got that.
Speaker 4 (02:56):
Okay, So there's three options. There's three options today, just
so we know. Okay, let's crack into things. Here we
go first, can beer, soft drink or balls, is how
I'm gonna say.
Speaker 1 (03:07):
Here we go, Here we go.
Speaker 3 (03:17):
Did you hear anything there?
Speaker 5 (03:21):
A little bit?
Speaker 1 (03:22):
Okay? Yeah, all right, what we're going to go again?
Speaker 3 (03:25):
I reckon, we really need to pump your microphone when.
Speaker 1 (03:28):
We crack Okay, okay, Okay, we'll try again.
Speaker 6 (03:30):
We're going to try again. Sorry, probably should have practiced
this before we went. Oh, here we go, Megan, No,
that was Chris.
Speaker 3 (03:42):
What is it?
Speaker 5 (03:43):
I reckon it's soft drink.
Speaker 3 (03:46):
Incorrect, Megan, that is incorrect. I'm sorry.
Speaker 2 (03:50):
That was a good crack and that Jade is killed
in thirty one six five, Jayden, you ready to go?
Speaker 7 (03:55):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (03:55):
I am all right man, love your work. Jaydon. Here
we go beer, soft drink or balls?
Speaker 2 (04:02):
Is the game?
Speaker 1 (04:09):
That would be a bill? That was ball? That was
that was what are cracking into a fresh set of
balls on the radio.
Speaker 4 (04:18):
What everyone thought balls was going to be obvious. That
sounded a lot like a soft drink.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
I think the ball sounded great.
Speaker 3 (04:23):
That has that has added a.
Speaker 4 (04:25):
Level to this game that I didn't think it could
possibly unbelievable.
Speaker 3 (04:29):
It was a good crack.
Speaker 1 (04:30):
It was a good crack crack.
Speaker 3 (04:31):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (04:32):
You weirdly got your nose in and around the balls
immediately afterwards, which is beautiful.
Speaker 1 (04:35):
So I think we've got on camera so you can
check that out.
Speaker 4 (04:37):
Let's go to Tamara here now tomorrow. This has become
a tough game.
Speaker 3 (04:42):
Three options.
Speaker 4 (04:43):
Now you've got soft drink you've got beer, you've got balls.
Speaker 3 (04:46):
You heard the crack before? Did you know it was balls?
Speaker 5 (04:49):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (04:50):
You did? Wow? You did? Okay? Cool? Been around?
Speaker 2 (04:53):
All right, all right, here we go, Here we go tomorrow.
Speaker 4 (05:05):
That was a soft drink. Nice year, very good. Let's
see if you can get to two. What was that tomorrow?
Speaker 5 (05:23):
Was that a tennis cam o correc tomorrow?
Speaker 4 (05:29):
That's a soft drink that The similarity between soft drink
and balls potentially makes this game impossible. But just when
you thought it was just keep playing anyway, we've got
Benny here, Benny, do you reckon?
Speaker 3 (05:44):
You know the difference between soft drink and balls?
Speaker 5 (05:47):
I'm pretty confident.
Speaker 3 (05:49):
Okay, all right, I remember there's still be in there
as well. This is all of a sudden, a very.
Speaker 2 (05:53):
Difficult ten thousand dollars up for grabs in twenty twenty five.
Speaker 1 (05:56):
Pooh, he's ratified. Bad cash. So if you get ten
in a row, Ben, who knows, amazing, let's get into it.
I don't know why the people.
Speaker 2 (06:03):
That kiss are laughing about that. It's ten thousand dollars.
All right, here we go, you ready to go?
Speaker 5 (06:08):
Ready? Tennis balls?
Speaker 7 (06:15):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (06:16):
Many?
Speaker 2 (06:18):
And just as they'd say out on the tennis court.
New balls please, it might be new micro please for
me after that one?
Speaker 8 (06:24):
Sorry, right, it was very quiet, absolutely blown that way.
Speaker 3 (06:30):
I had a lot of power.
Speaker 1 (06:31):
Do we get to Bennie.
Speaker 3 (06:35):
Beer soft drink or balls here? It is.
Speaker 1 (06:40):
Soft drink, it's a beer ben bad luck.
Speaker 2 (06:44):
You might have to retire, just as Djokovic did from
Senate court.
Speaker 1 (06:48):
He's all out of the Australian opens. Verev goes through and.
Speaker 2 (06:50):
We continue on here at Willem what he like from
the court side bar at the AO down live at
this train open actually come out, it's sagoday. Wow, it's
(07:11):
so nice to have some people watching the show here,
so please come down. With courtside bar next to Court
six the only active tennis court in Rod Labor in
Melbourne Park at the moment with.
Speaker 1 (07:20):
Rod Labor's closed off. Jokovic is just retired.
Speaker 2 (07:22):
So we're the hottest attraction here and certainly given the
Costin and Adzie is sitting on the couch next to you.
Now Nick Kurrios's partner, welcome Costin go taking on the show.
Speaker 5 (07:29):
Hi, thank you, thank you for having me.
Speaker 3 (07:31):
Of course, of course, so let's kick off by talking
about Nick.
Speaker 4 (07:35):
Obviously, not the result, but he was after getting knocked
out in the first round, but clearly hampered by some injury.
Speaker 3 (07:42):
Was that something that he was carrying going into the tournament?
Speaker 5 (07:45):
Yeah, I mean he tried to play, but the injury
was just too bad. He had a tear in his
abdominant so it was Yeah, he tried to play, he
gave it his all and unfortunately not the result we wanted.
But it's okay. There's always another tournament.
Speaker 2 (08:00):
He stoke me as the like particularly stoic type beforehand, Like,
I'm sure you would have known a lot about the
injury before he went out in the court.
Speaker 1 (08:05):
Is that right?
Speaker 5 (08:06):
Yeah, I mean he injured himself a couple of days
before the tournament started, so it.
Speaker 4 (08:11):
Was just a really bad times devastating yeah, for you
as a partner. Like, I mean, I'm sure if I'm
not sure what injury would stop me from doing radio.
Speaker 3 (08:19):
Maybe a Taunton tonsil or something.
Speaker 4 (08:20):
But I imagine that my wife, who is here somewhere.
Speaker 3 (08:24):
She's actually already given up on the show. I think
we're find that my wife isn't very supportive of me.
Speaker 4 (08:29):
But if I was injured, I feel like it'd be
hard for her to then see me go out and
try and push through that was Was it hard for
you to see Nick in that match knowing that he
had an injury?
Speaker 5 (08:38):
Yeah, I mean I could tell that he was heard
and he was trying to give it his all. But yeah,
you could clearly see he was in pain. So too
much about that?
Speaker 3 (08:48):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (08:48):
Sure, Coristine, what's your because Nick is polarizing. He's everywhere,
particularly you know, going into the right like he is.
Speaker 1 (08:58):
You know, even before the time he just said, you know,
a wild card, he's not seated anymore. You know, he's
coming into the tournament.
Speaker 2 (09:04):
And yet even with an injury, he's everyone wants to
see him. He cannot stay out of the headlines if
he tried. Like, it's just he is a walking billboard.
How do you go being his partner? Like are you
because we're just talking before you come down from Sydney
down to Melbourne, are you are filled with nerves walking
into this train open?
Speaker 1 (09:25):
Going? God, what's he going to put his foot in
this time? Like?
Speaker 2 (09:28):
How is it being Nick Kirios's partner during the two
weeks when he is the most headline and making person
in Australia.
Speaker 5 (09:40):
Well, I feel like I'm used to it now. I
think the first year we were together, like there was
so many articles and we were like all over the news,
and that was nerve wracking for me. But I feel
like this time, I'm kind of used to it and
it's kind of expected. But yeah, he's definitely plastered all
over the media news articles here this time during AO.
Speaker 7 (10:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (10:01):
Yeah, but yeah, I'm used to it, and he's used
to me. He's been doing it for like ten years.
Speaker 2 (10:05):
Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, Well he's almost made it
like it's almost a skill of his now.
Speaker 1 (10:10):
He knows he knows how to put himself in the headlines.
Speaker 5 (10:13):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. Seriously, it's all over the news
all the time for like the littlest of things as well.
Speaker 1 (10:18):
What's the smallest thing he's been in the headlines for.
Speaker 5 (10:21):
I think we were riding a scooter in Melbourne with
no helmets on and we got apparently we got it fine,
and we were plastered all over the news. It was
it was pretty funny, but it was just so silly.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
Yeah, like, come on, find something else to write.
Speaker 5 (10:34):
I was like holding on for dear life behind him.
I was like, oh help, but yeah, I didn't know
someone took a photo of that and got God.
Speaker 2 (10:41):
Yeah, so you really you probably feel like you're under
the microscope the whole time that you're here.
Speaker 5 (10:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (10:46):
Yeah, you said it's been a busy two weeks.
Speaker 5 (10:49):
Yeah, very busy. I've been working every day. I've been
at the AO every day. It's been really fun though,
because I love, you know, creating content and working with
fashion companies. So yeah, it's been fun.
Speaker 3 (10:58):
You want you want to address Higher Company? Yes, I
get bed right. It's a style studio dress Higher.
Speaker 4 (11:04):
So because of your skills in fashion, are you also
telling Nick what he should wear when he plays on
the court?
Speaker 3 (11:12):
Do you ever saying that?
Speaker 5 (11:14):
Honestly? No, he's his own person, Like you can't tell
him anything.
Speaker 1 (11:17):
Like I can imagine that, I can imagine.
Speaker 5 (11:20):
That style, you know, his clothes with at all. He
has his own style and no one's getting in the
way of that.
Speaker 1 (11:28):
I could say that happening.
Speaker 3 (11:29):
I don't have that situation with my relationship.
Speaker 1 (11:31):
No, it's finishing, isn't it.
Speaker 5 (11:32):
Yeah. I wish I could style him, but he just
doesn't let me.
Speaker 2 (11:36):
So, Like I mean, I imagine with Nick, are you
what is the number one thing that you guys would
sort of have a dispute about like, for example, in
my home, it tends to be the thermostat.
Speaker 3 (11:45):
Oh my god, I know exactly what it is.
Speaker 5 (11:47):
It's the air con. He blasted on like sixteen degrees.
I'm freezing. I have to put like two hoodies on.
Speaker 3 (11:55):
God.
Speaker 5 (11:55):
He yeah, he hates the heat. I love the heat
with like polar opposites in that sense.
Speaker 1 (12:00):
Yeah, right, well, there you go.
Speaker 3 (12:01):
Nick Fostat was.
Speaker 1 (12:04):
Everyone feels it.
Speaker 2 (12:05):
We're gonna relate, even the great Nick Kurios. Djokovic is
just retired from these very semi final. He was playing
just huge.
Speaker 4 (12:13):
Got some fans down here will that are wearing a
Serbian flagstly fans of Novak. I'll speak to you in
the middle of he walts your name.
Speaker 3 (12:21):
My name is Mia.
Speaker 5 (12:22):
Mia.
Speaker 3 (12:23):
Devastated that Novak is out of the tournament.
Speaker 5 (12:25):
Yes, definitely. I was like I could have believed it.
I was shocked.
Speaker 7 (12:29):
I looked at my mom and I'm like I was like,
what the hell. I was like, no way, And I
just can't believe it. Honestly, he's played so well, but
you could see it throughout the match when he was playing,
like he just wasn't playing his best and so like
he did the right thing, Like he knew that he
wasn't going to be able to put all his effort in,
So like he did the right thing, giving his body
a break.
Speaker 4 (12:48):
Is there any excitement for you though that now you
are going to be able to watch the Will and Woody.
Speaker 3 (12:52):
Show live, to watch the what sorry show watching show watching?
Damn damn it.
Speaker 1 (13:00):
Oh no, it's good. Oh that's you can't script that.
That's awesome.
Speaker 2 (13:07):
All right, We've got has Nick's girlfriend that is awesome.
Speaker 1 (13:14):
Can you give them the tickets to the men's final?
That's that's the.
Speaker 2 (13:17):
Best thing I've ever heard, all right, costume, Yes, I
meant to ask you.
Speaker 1 (13:21):
So.
Speaker 2 (13:22):
Obviously, traveling with Nick all over the world, so I'm
pretty sure tennis players they have to put up their
whole team, right, So he's going to do the accommodation,
his own accommodation, pay for everyone else's accommodation, everything included
in all of that would be a pretty intimate little
group of you that get around.
Speaker 5 (13:37):
Yeah, I mean we always travel with his manager. Horse
is his nickname.
Speaker 1 (13:41):
I've heard his name's Horse? Why is his name horse?
Speaker 2 (13:43):
No?
Speaker 1 (13:43):
I don't ask, well, don't ask he's a good.
Speaker 5 (13:45):
Runners Daniel, but last name's Horsefall. That's why they call
him horse. We travel with Nick's Fizzio as well. Will
I go with them as well obviously and sometimes Nick's
sister who is also his manager's girlfriend or partner a
long time. Yeah, so it's yeah, so what's a very
good team.
Speaker 2 (14:04):
What's the wildest thing that's happened to you while you've
been on tour with Nick? Because I'm sure there are
some stories that obviously can't go on radio, but.
Speaker 5 (14:15):
Well, we weren't out once in New York. Yeah, and
his watch got stolen, I don't know.
Speaker 3 (14:20):
Wow, off his wrist, Yeah, off his wrist.
Speaker 5 (14:23):
Yeah, it's kind of crazy thing, that's the thing.
Speaker 1 (14:25):
Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, wow, that's hands.
Speaker 4 (14:27):
Was it like a very skilled pickpocket where he didn't
even realize that we were Yeah.
Speaker 5 (14:32):
We were in the club and then someone like held
his hand down, someone else his watch, and another girl
came past, took the watch.
Speaker 1 (14:40):
And put in her bagon.
Speaker 5 (14:41):
They ran out.
Speaker 1 (14:42):
Yeah, it's pretty crazy.
Speaker 5 (14:43):
It's pretty a sad story.
Speaker 1 (14:46):
That's pretty wild. I mean, I'll take it, I'll take it.
Speaker 4 (14:48):
Would you mind telling me that like rough rough areas?
How much that watch was worth.
Speaker 2 (14:54):
It was this watch watch, wasn't it two hundred dollars
one hundred and fifty A couple of zeros?
Speaker 5 (15:00):
Yeah yeah yeah.
Speaker 1 (15:01):
More than one hundred thousand dollars.
Speaker 5 (15:03):
Uh no, but it's an event he watch, which is
it's a like a high end watch. Yeah, my pretty bad.
Speaker 1 (15:12):
Yeah, wow, totally world.
Speaker 3 (15:14):
That's an expensive night out.
Speaker 7 (15:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (15:17):
Yeah, we went to see fifty cent and then yeah
we saw your design and his watch got someone as well,
which is that sounds like.
Speaker 1 (15:23):
A pretty wild night all right. Now, Costine, first of all,
thanks coming on the show. It's been lovely to me.
Speaker 2 (15:29):
Yeah, and do we got Costine's dress hiring company.
Speaker 1 (15:35):
We've got that our.
Speaker 3 (15:35):
Studio dress high If you want to go and check out, go.
Speaker 2 (15:38):
And follow Costine as well if you want to see
her journey touring, touring all around the world with Nick
and what sounds like some pretty incredible adventures. They're great watches,
great gigs, great adventures.
Speaker 1 (15:50):
Now, Christine, let's get into it. I've got a tennis
quiz for you. Oh god, okay, okay.
Speaker 3 (15:54):
How do you feel like you'll go here?
Speaker 4 (15:55):
Like, have you really taken on the role of tennis players?
Partner and under I feel like I have.
Speaker 5 (16:01):
But I did a tennis quiz the other day and
Nick was very disappointed.
Speaker 2 (16:06):
You're traveling with a tennis guy. I reckon, you've got this.
Can we go currently listening?
Speaker 3 (16:10):
Do you think is he listening?
Speaker 1 (16:12):
He's at ESPN.
Speaker 3 (16:15):
That's two rejections. That's two rejections. We want the same.
He'll hear it back later, don't you go?
Speaker 2 (16:19):
Costin question one, in the tennis scoring system, we use
the word love for the score zero.
Speaker 5 (16:25):
Why, oh god, I don't know because I don't know
just because it's zero. I don't know. That's a good question.
I don't know if anyone.
Speaker 1 (16:35):
Knows that we know, we do, We've got the answer.
Speaker 3 (16:37):
Oh okay, god, pass okay.
Speaker 2 (16:39):
At Wimbledon, what is the traditional snack that is iconic
to the TOURNAMENTE had a few of.
Speaker 1 (16:45):
Them, didn't you? Very good? Very good? What is the
record for the longest rally ever recorded?
Speaker 5 (16:52):
I'm going to say like like like time wise, all
points wise, time wise, longest rally. Yeah, uh, I don't know.
Five minutes longest rally ever, five minutes rally.
Speaker 1 (17:08):
Or match rally?
Speaker 5 (17:09):
Oh god, I don't know.
Speaker 3 (17:11):
Five minutes.
Speaker 5 (17:12):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (17:12):
That's tough. That's really hard question.
Speaker 2 (17:15):
It's either twenty nine minutes, one hour and thirty minutes
or one day in thirteen hours for.
Speaker 5 (17:20):
A rally, for a rally, the shortest time possible.
Speaker 1 (17:23):
I'm gonna go with you're gonna go for an hour?
If you're gonna go for twenty nine minutes and thirty seconds.
Speaker 5 (17:26):
If it's just a rally, then yeah, I reckon.
Speaker 2 (17:28):
That sounds about right. I'm going to go to the
tape here. Is that right? Twenty nine minutes, forty three seconds.
Speaker 1 (17:33):
It's correct?
Speaker 3 (17:33):
That's very good.
Speaker 1 (17:34):
Wow, well done?
Speaker 3 (17:35):
Do you not know the answers either?
Speaker 1 (17:36):
I didn't know that one.
Speaker 7 (17:38):
I know this.
Speaker 1 (17:38):
I just get giving the questions. Man, you know this
week's what is Nick? What show are we even on?
Who are we? What is Nick Curios's fastest ever serve?
Speaker 5 (17:47):
Oh god, I'm going to say to twenty weeks.
Speaker 1 (17:51):
Pretty good too? Thirty?
Speaker 5 (17:53):
Oh I don't say two twenty nine?
Speaker 1 (17:55):
Is it sixty when he doesn't fast serve?
Speaker 5 (17:57):
Ye a little bit?
Speaker 4 (18:00):
No?
Speaker 3 (18:01):
Is that the sexiest thing you can do on the court?
I fast serve?
Speaker 1 (18:04):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (18:04):
Or maybe an underarm serve.
Speaker 1 (18:08):
Doesn't. It's speaking of is it sexy watching Nick play
full stop? Is that like a bit of a it's
gotta be right, got to.
Speaker 3 (18:16):
Be What do I find it's sexy?
Speaker 1 (18:17):
That's weird?
Speaker 2 (18:20):
Nick curios is the only is only the third player
to beat the Big three in tennis?
Speaker 1 (18:25):
Or one of them? Who are they? The bitch? Oh?
Speaker 5 (18:30):
You mean, like who else?
Speaker 1 (18:31):
I don't know? Who are the top three? And you
nailed it?
Speaker 2 (18:33):
Well, guys, she was on fire out there court six,
the court side bar. And it's funny what sort of
bar flies you find lurking in and around the court
side bar, people that come peel themselves away from the alcohol.
Speaker 1 (18:56):
It's tragic, but we're here to support him.
Speaker 8 (18:58):
Jim Courrier, boys, I like the ambush.
Speaker 1 (19:04):
It's nice you guys.
Speaker 8 (19:06):
Your credentials have just been officially revoked. Really yeah, welcome you,
wheeling open and goodbye. You are kind of like King
Dick down here. There's a bit of a bit of a.
Speaker 1 (19:15):
Shine around you at the moment. Is an aura that's
just sunburn.
Speaker 4 (19:21):
I do recall you actually last year and we caught
up with you because we did do Nidju Warrior together,
so we are we are pretty good friends.
Speaker 3 (19:26):
I would say the three of us.
Speaker 4 (19:27):
For sure, and we were at the Emirates Marquee, I
believe and Will said to you, Oh, Jim, I can
probably speak to someone here to get you in. And
your response was, Will, I'll get in. I can get
in anywhere.
Speaker 1 (19:38):
Yeah, I don't know that I can get in anywhere.
Speaker 8 (19:40):
But if I drop you guys names, that's got a
lot of stick anywhere I go around.
Speaker 1 (19:44):
This guy play yeah Tooche, Well, it's good to have
you here. Man.
Speaker 2 (19:48):
We know that you've been in La so it's elyn
a pretty torrid time over there.
Speaker 1 (19:50):
So it's great that Istu made it to Australia.
Speaker 8 (19:52):
I got to say, twenty twenty five has come out
of the shoot in a pretty rough fashion, so I'm
hoping we all turned to the positive from here. It's
not a deal, but it's been amazing to come down
here and uh just get some clear air and some
and something fun to think about and do, because you know,
real life stinks, and in coming to the Australian Open
is not real life. Everyone's smiling, everyone's having a great time.
(20:16):
I mean, look look at this joint a bar. It's
tennis happening. I mean, this is a good place to
to get away from your troubles and LA's facing its
fair share right now.
Speaker 4 (20:26):
Yeah, well I was open absolutely missed you as well.
That first week where you weren't present. It felt really
weird watching the Australian Open without you there. Why is
there such an affinity to Australia, Jim, Like it feels
like we really do see you as one of our own.
Speaker 8 (20:40):
I think it's because you you recognize someone who is
dumb enough to jump in a river and do it twice.
Speaker 1 (20:47):
You know, it kind of fits right in. It wasn't
very Yeah, it was the thing, wasn't it.
Speaker 8 (20:51):
Yeah. I mean you can all look down on me
and sort of feel pity for me. I think it's
really been.
Speaker 1 (20:56):
More of am But I love you know, I love
the people down here. I love the vibe.
Speaker 8 (21:02):
But you guys are so well regarded and famous and
all that. But I'm sure you guys, when you're walking
on the streets, people just like it's like they went
to high school with you in a way. You know,
people come out and they're like they're friendly. No one's
going to hustle you. They just want to, you know,
say hey, you know what, that was a great show.
I really enjoyed you guys the other day.
Speaker 1 (21:19):
Oh, that's probably probably not happened to elateely right, No,
you are mistaken.
Speaker 4 (21:21):
We're not very famous at all. I told you that, Jim,
that's actually not true. You know it's not true, Jim.
We should talk about some tennis. I was at the
Sabolenka match last night. She is just a force of nature.
Sablenka got into another final.
Speaker 3 (21:37):
Ye can I ask you though? I thought it was interesting.
Speaker 4 (21:39):
In her postmatch interview with Elne, she spoke about the
fact that she's very good friends with Paula Bardosa, who
she did play against. I'm sure you were the same
in your playing career. You would have played against people
who you saw as mates. How difficult is that to do?
Because these guys obviously always they travel all around the
world together, they get pretty close. How do you put
that aside and play hard tennis.
Speaker 8 (21:59):
Yeah, you have to be able to just get on
the court and just put the blinders on and go, Okay,
this is business. I'm gonna go to work here and
once we once we stop that, we'll go out and
we'll be We'll be mates, We'll be friends.
Speaker 1 (22:08):
And I have to tell you.
Speaker 8 (22:09):
It really did originate from that great, incredible, legendary cohort
of aussie's right, the Labors, the Emerson's, the Rosewalterer, Wilcolms.
These guys were dominating world tennis. They were traveling as
a merried band of brothers and they would, you know,
go out and beat the crap out of each other
for the biggest tournaments in the world.
Speaker 1 (22:28):
Then they go have a beer together.
Speaker 8 (22:29):
Yeah, right, So they set the standard and it's great
to see Sabolinka and Bodoza following it.
Speaker 1 (22:35):
May not they may have beers together.
Speaker 8 (22:36):
I don't know, but it sounds like it's more of
a shopping junket coming up. Whatever it takes, they're gonna
hang out, and you know, you've kind of got this
bond that's not going to be broken even if you're
out there trying to break each other's necks on the court.
Speaker 1 (22:48):
Cool, let's talk Jokovic.
Speaker 8 (22:50):
Let's get to it, because he is a polarizing figures
you refer to going to break. Yeah, a lot of
people just don't really know what to think of him.
But well, we've seen him in twenty twenty one and
twenty three win this tournament, carrying legitimate injuries. He had
an abdominal string in twenty twenty one, and he had
a tear in his hamstring muscle in twenty twenty three.
I suspect he's got another micro tear in his hamstring muscle.
Speaker 2 (23:12):
Ye In al Karaz was thumping him in the first
set the other night and then all of a sudden,
injury changes the pace. Alciaz maybe take the foot off
the throat a little bit and then bang his back.
I mean, I think this is why Jokovic is such
an interesting character, right, Like, because I actually remember speaking
to you a few years ago about Djokovic. This was
when we were doing Ninjuo and he was a similar thing.
Speaker 1 (23:33):
I think.
Speaker 2 (23:34):
I think he came into this train of me with
a knee, some sort of a nikel of you. But
there was something going on and we were talking about
how polarizing is for Australians and you actually said to me,
you were like, it's funny that we kind of want
Djokovic to be a knight in shining armor, like a
white knight. But if you think about you know, this
guy was born in Serbia in the eighties, late eighties, right,
(23:56):
so the Boslian you know, Serbian Hertzegovny of war is
going on all through his childhood. He I feel like
that he's a different sort of competitor because of that.
There's not this sense of like I owe you anything,
you know.
Speaker 8 (24:10):
No, he's a born warrior out of necessity because he's
sort of been fighting and scraping and Klon and his
family for their safety.
Speaker 1 (24:17):
Yeah, that's probably his earliest memories. Yeah.
Speaker 8 (24:19):
Then out here he likes to be antagonized by the crowd.
It drives him. It's like it energizes him. I don't
know if he ultimately likes it, but I know that
it makes him play better when he does. And he's
brought that energy this year into the tournament. He's been
looking for things to fire him up. He needs a
Murray on board. Yeah, for me, that's a clear signal
that he's got an issue.
Speaker 4 (24:39):
He definitely got a spark off Tony Jones to go
obviously the Serbian fans there, and then you were right
in the middle of this, so yeah.
Speaker 1 (24:47):
You were going you were really the guy, were you?
Speaker 4 (24:50):
And he refused to do that interview with you. I'm
just interested to like intimately get the details there. So
the match finishes, you walk on the court. At what
stage did you really that Novak wasn't going to do
a chat with you?
Speaker 8 (25:02):
Well, it was strange because I walked on the court
and I hadn't seen him in person because I was
late arriving, so it's the first time we'd been in
the same area, and and the way that he looked
at me was was we're normally pretty warm towards each other,
and he looked at me like, what are you doing here?
Speaker 1 (25:14):
So I knew something was off.
Speaker 8 (25:15):
So I put the microphone down so it wouldn't go
to air, and I went over, came together and talked.
Speaker 1 (25:21):
He's like, look, they should have told you.
Speaker 8 (25:22):
I'm not doing this interview until I get a public
apology with Channel nine.
Speaker 1 (25:26):
Wow.
Speaker 8 (25:27):
So I was like, okay, I mean my view is
we're there to serve the audience and the player. If
he doesn't want to do it, I'm not going to
make it. I can't make anybody do it. So I said,
do you want to talk to the crowd? So he
said sure. I handed him the mic. He said what
he said to the crowd, and we moved on from there,
and eventually, you know, it all ended up the way.
It ended up with Tony making an apology, you know,
back accepting it, and we moved forward.
Speaker 1 (25:46):
But it was weird, man, that's a first. I felt
for you. I felt for you. I was.
Speaker 3 (25:53):
Just like beautiful, down to count with questions.
Speaker 8 (25:55):
This is my first thought was why doesn't this happen
more often? So less stressful?
Speaker 1 (26:01):
People should know.
Speaker 2 (26:02):
Jim had a great backup play. He's actually a great
cabaret dancer. So you were just you were just getting
the frills out the Lacey do that.
Speaker 1 (26:09):
You were ready to go. That was your moment. I
was gonna just do a couple of lashes and we're
gonna set. I would have that, alright, Jim.
Speaker 2 (26:20):
All week we've been giving away tickets to the AO
Finals by a game called ball Beats. Okay, so I've
basically been drumming out the melody to songs on ball canisters.
Speaker 1 (26:31):
Oh nice, which has been horrific. It's been awful. It's
been really hard.
Speaker 2 (26:35):
What genre of songs are we talking about? Just the
easiest songs? Hot Cross Buns? We did Mama Mia about
just trying to do the easiest. I'm not drumming the
actual drum parts. I'm just drumming the melody.
Speaker 3 (26:46):
Drumming the melody.
Speaker 1 (26:47):
Like, Okay, it's been really tough. But what are these
bualcans tuned to?
Speaker 2 (26:51):
Well, that's right, so it's basically however many balls are
in the can.
Speaker 1 (26:54):
It's been tough. It's been tough for everyone listening.
Speaker 4 (26:56):
Pretty much spent all of our radio time this week
with people trying to guess the song that will drumming.
Speaker 3 (27:00):
It takes a full two hours as usual.
Speaker 8 (27:02):
You guys are going all out with a budget. Great,
all right, let's go. You're lucky you got headphones today.
But did you by so I've been saying to Woody,
I was like, we've got gym coming down on Friday.
I'm pretty sure Jim is a drummer.
Speaker 1 (27:16):
I am a drummer.
Speaker 8 (27:17):
Okay, yeah, I got my drum pad and sticks in
the room. Okay, I've been rocking some Flamma diddles and
paradiddles this morning. Okay, ready, okay, let's go.
Speaker 1 (27:26):
He's Keen. I knew it be Ken.
Speaker 4 (27:28):
I knew it has brandished some sticks all of a sudden, Yeah,
I got two legit sticks.
Speaker 1 (27:35):
I don't know, Yeah, I don't know what you call
them in the game. These are looking good. The size
looks good. Okay, I've got.
Speaker 3 (27:40):
I've got to carry your own sticks on. You do
your gym? Is that not a drumming thing there in
the room.
Speaker 1 (27:43):
I didn't know I would have brought them with me.
I should. I didn't know you could carry a drunk.
Speaker 2 (27:47):
I've got four ball canisters here in front of us,
each set to a different tune. I've got this song
queued up him Carlin's come now, sure, yeah, yeah, you
want to do this?
Speaker 7 (28:01):
Yeah?
Speaker 8 (28:01):
I do.
Speaker 1 (28:01):
Okay, do I have to do it on the bullcans? Yes?
Speaker 8 (28:04):
Well that's a delicate thing for a very intense emotional
piece of the song.
Speaker 1 (28:08):
But I'm willing to go there. All right, let's do it.
I'm gonna get to hold out the bullcans for you. Here,
you stick, Let's go all right. Mike's going down woods.
You might need to hold his mic for him.
Speaker 3 (28:16):
I'll hold your.
Speaker 1 (28:17):
Tricky part on.
Speaker 8 (28:18):
This is this is all flams, right, So this is
two sticks, so I got to be super accurate. This
is not just you know, left hand, right hand, left hand, right, Well.
Speaker 2 (28:25):
You can improvise with however however you want. We're just
gonna roll down to however you want to do it,
you do it. Oh my god, I can't believe he's pumped.
You're way more ready than I thought you would.
Speaker 8 (28:37):
Drums, but his drummer who would play with him, Chester
Thompson used to come and hang out at tennis tournam
It's a big tennis fan who played like drums. When
Phil was a front man for Genesis and his shows.
Speaker 1 (28:49):
Wow, rolling down, here we go show. This is all
like WLD. Oh good.
Speaker 8 (29:16):
If Ninja Warrior would have been as good as that,
we wouldn't have gotten a can would have.
Speaker 1 (29:20):
Been another ten years. Jim. Alrighty, this is the moment
that everyone's been waiting for.
Speaker 2 (29:26):
Those woods. I mean, Billy, let's face. That's the reason
that everyone's actually here. Part of the fact that Mark
phillipierces and stampstones were played on chow called six is
ball beats. We've been playing this all week, amazingly, Amazingly.
The Australian Open brought the idea where I played the
melody of songs on ball canisters. People liked to guess
(29:47):
what the melody was, and the idea was, you guys
want tickets, not just to the AO, not These are
Men's Finals.
Speaker 1 (29:53):
Tickets that we're giving away here.
Speaker 2 (29:55):
These are money can't buy tickets at this stage of
the tournament.
Speaker 3 (29:58):
Prize. The game has been a train record.
Speaker 4 (29:59):
Let's be no one knows what you are drumming on
those balls. So I know we have to wrap up
at six pm, but we could be here until seven.
That's true because I've got three We've got three players there.
Speaker 3 (30:09):
They're let me be taking it on for a final time.
Speaker 4 (30:11):
The winner will win a double pass to the Australian
Men's Final on Sunday. But if you have missed any
of ball beats this week, you can hear the train
wreck that it has been.
Speaker 9 (30:25):
Will and Woody have returned for twenty five with a
ball right now they are alive at.
Speaker 1 (30:32):
The eight oh.
Speaker 3 (30:34):
But this week has been all about ball.
Speaker 1 (30:39):
I'm going to play a tune on the ball candidates.
You've just got to guess what it is Monday? Had
everyone stopped to get an raizy glass pink?
Speaker 5 (30:55):
Was that one?
Speaker 3 (30:58):
Are you doing the drums show?
Speaker 1 (31:00):
Did this epic version of an abber classic? Bo Oh yeah, yeah, yeah,
that's yeah yeah. What are your cluse? What are you hearing? Did? Did? Did? Did?
Speaker 4 (31:15):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (31:16):
I am really struggling here, but.
Speaker 1 (31:19):
The boys pressed on. Never doubted the power of the
ball beats.
Speaker 5 (31:35):
Is it?
Speaker 3 (31:35):
Yes, Natalie another one?
Speaker 9 (31:38):
But yes, yes, this is the final round, Final Round,
Willem Woodies.
Speaker 1 (31:49):
Ball Roddie, this is it? Wow, way what away gets
made of bull baits Woods.
Speaker 2 (31:56):
I had office from all sorts of touring bands show
can't go into them right now, but everyone interestooed in
my skills. I've got three fresh candisters here for the
people we're here, They've been watching. I've been rehearsing for
the last half hour, haven't I.
Speaker 1 (32:09):
Guys?
Speaker 2 (32:10):
This is I mean, this is sheep stations that we're
playing here for.
Speaker 1 (32:13):
He's a double past of the men's final.
Speaker 2 (32:14):
AO lives as well Armin van Helden Kesher and the
Bad Great is playing on the weekend. This is going
to be the best weekend of your life for the
person that wins these tickets made.
Speaker 4 (32:22):
Yes, we have three fresh players here. The first player
I'm about to introduce. Unfortunately, I mean, I don't know
how she got in as one of the contestants today,
because gee whiz did she.
Speaker 3 (32:31):
Offend us earlier?
Speaker 1 (32:32):
Today?
Speaker 3 (32:32):
She was down here a Serbian flag.
Speaker 4 (32:35):
Draped around her Shoulders had to chat with her about
the fact that Novak had pulled out, and then.
Speaker 3 (32:38):
I said, well, here's the audio. Is there any.
Speaker 4 (32:41):
Excitement for you though that now you are going to
be able to watch the Will and Woody Show live,
to watch.
Speaker 3 (32:46):
The what sorry show watching? Show you watching?
Speaker 5 (32:51):
Damn it?
Speaker 3 (32:53):
Now somehow we might be giving you tickets.
Speaker 1 (32:55):
Whizz a way onto the couch.
Speaker 3 (32:58):
Do you know who we are now?
Speaker 7 (33:00):
Yes, you're Willing Woody from the Kiss Show. And I've
actually listened to your radio since I was kids, so
I feel very thankful to finally be here.
Speaker 1 (33:08):
It's good, well, so very nice. Salvage.
Speaker 3 (33:11):
It sounds like a Google search, sounds.
Speaker 5 (33:14):
Just giveing me.
Speaker 1 (33:15):
We got next Woods, We've got.
Speaker 4 (33:16):
Fonds here the hello, I love this.
Speaker 1 (33:21):
I love this kid, the Fonds. Thank you, you're looking grace. Thanks,
i'mmer ready Tennis fresh. Have you been at the bar?
Speaker 5 (33:29):
Yes, Prisca's brilliant.
Speaker 1 (33:32):
It is good.
Speaker 2 (33:32):
So we're going to keep keep your mic time short.
And we finally we've got Aaron cool guy in Melbourne
Park right now.
Speaker 1 (33:41):
I have a look at that. Yes, very nice, thank you,
nice to be here.
Speaker 3 (33:44):
I might detected a little accent there.
Speaker 1 (33:46):
Yeah, it's my Indian nuts home very much. Everybody in
the cars.
Speaker 2 (33:53):
He is actually of South Asian, just Santa, I believe, yeah,
very much.
Speaker 1 (33:57):
So I was going to triple check that bre is
a huge side of relief, all right.
Speaker 3 (34:05):
Like everyone who's been having a fair few drinks.
Speaker 1 (34:09):
People with the side. But okay, Aaron, have you been
playing all week? Playing what? I'm not played this at all?
He all right, Wow, okay, Fonds, have you played it
all this week?
Speaker 8 (34:23):
No?
Speaker 5 (34:23):
I have not.
Speaker 1 (34:23):
Okay, I didn't.
Speaker 3 (34:26):
Know you were here until today.
Speaker 7 (34:27):
Honestly, you never know who we are, all right, But
I'm glad I've made it.
Speaker 1 (34:31):
We're glad you here.
Speaker 2 (34:32):
This is really is a melody to a very famous
pop song.
Speaker 1 (34:38):
Here we go. Oh sorry, sorry, sorry, fall start fall,
start fast.
Speaker 3 (34:47):
This does happen. This does happened. Stay with us. Some
patience is required. We're losing the crowd. We're losing.
Speaker 1 (34:55):
Sorry, this is the worst thing you've ever seen.
Speaker 2 (34:56):
If you haven't guessed already.
Speaker 3 (35:02):
Okay, Maya, that was a good rendition. What do you
think that was?
Speaker 1 (35:11):
Any song matter? Any song?
Speaker 5 (35:15):
Happy birthday?
Speaker 1 (35:17):
Oh no, it's not happy birthday.
Speaker 3 (35:19):
Not happy birthday.
Speaker 1 (35:20):
Here together, that's here too.
Speaker 3 (35:21):
So Fonds will get the next case. But yes, another rendition.
Speaker 5 (35:28):
Fon Is it the theme song to Ducktails?
Speaker 2 (35:31):
No?
Speaker 3 (35:32):
What the hell is?
Speaker 1 (35:32):
No? That is a banger, though, That is a bang.
Speaker 2 (35:35):
All right, We're gonna go one more time here, I'm
gonna go one more time here, here we go.
Speaker 3 (35:42):
That was that was good. I know the song, and
that was good. Aaron, can you hear something?
Speaker 1 (35:47):
I'm just thinking it's like something from Queen We Will
Rock You.
Speaker 2 (35:52):
No, no, no, that is a very That is a
very recognizable and simple melody, and I regret not choosing that.
Speaker 4 (35:58):
But it's not it Okay, so we go back to
me again. We're hoping to wrap this show up by six,
but at this point we're having dinner.
Speaker 3 (36:05):
All right, miya, second guess.
Speaker 2 (36:15):
I'm so confused, Jesus, does anyone in the crowd think
they know what it might be?
Speaker 1 (36:21):
There's a lot of shaking his heads.
Speaker 4 (36:24):
I mean, I mean, this is the game, this is
the game.
Speaker 3 (36:27):
I just random thought.
Speaker 4 (36:29):
I've always thought that when I watched tennis, watching a
man or woman hold a rackets hit like holding a beer.
And that's just a random comment to make Fonds. Fonds
have a guess.
Speaker 5 (36:46):
Is it pink.
Speaker 4 (36:47):
Oh god, my random comment actually might have meant something,
just so you know.
Speaker 1 (36:55):
Aaron, Aaron, what was the comment that would he made?
Speaker 6 (36:58):
It's like holding this beer spear.
Speaker 1 (37:03):
We are at the courtside. You're thinking I said, I
come from the land down Under. No, I know, and
I think there's a connection. I see what you're trying
to do.
Speaker 3 (37:17):
It is that I've alluded to a name. I've alluded
to a name.
Speaker 1 (37:24):
Okay, does anyone in the crowd getting your vibe?
Speaker 2 (37:26):
Okay, okay, let's not let's not yell it out, don't
get it to say it. Let's just you can hear something. No,
you can't say this song? Yeah, yeah, yeah, we don't
know this song yet. She just knows the artist.
Speaker 6 (37:40):
Okay, honestly because of my clue, not because of your drumming.
Speaker 2 (37:43):
Can I just say, all right, okay, okay, here we go,
here's one more time. Here is the song. The clue
should have given away the artists at this stage. This
could be the best radio you guys will ever seen
in your lives.
Speaker 3 (37:55):
Also doing it one more time, that's important to note.
Speaker 1 (38:03):
Taylor Swift incorrect.
Speaker 3 (38:06):
Maya Taylor Swift? I think I'll say this again. You'll
play it one more.
Speaker 1 (38:10):
One more time. I'll play it one more time.
Speaker 3 (38:12):
Mentioned a spear before.
Speaker 5 (38:17):
Britney spears. Hit me baby one more time.
Speaker 3 (38:19):
Fons Sons, you're going to a final.
Speaker 1 (38:25):
This say go the fond So you're going to the
AO final. Can I just say, and you've got a
double past AO Lives.
Speaker 2 (38:37):
And I'm gonna say to Aaron and to Mia just
by the way that you missed out. You're both getting
a double past to aolives to go and watch Kesha,
Ammon van Helden and the Bad Graders tomorrow.
