Una creencia bastante extendida es la que dice que la etimología de «craso» proviene del triunviro Marco Licinio Craso, concretamente del desastre ocurrido en la batalla de Carras, de donde salió la colocación «craso error», porque el error de Craso fue muy craso, es decir, grave.
