Hello, everyone! It feels like ages since we last caught up. My summer and fall have been quite eventful, to say the least. Flight Adventures: I embarked on an exhilarating flight training journey at the renowned Giving Wings Flight Center in Traverse City. However, life threw a curveball, and I need to undergo rotator cuff surgery this week. This means a short break from my flying lessons. On the bright side, my recovery will give me a reprieve from snowblowing duties this winter!   Home Renovations: On the home front, we've taken on some significant projects. The old woodshed behind our garage, which was on its last legs, has been removed. In its stead, we've erected a functional carport-style tent. It's the perfect storage space for our summer essentials, freeing up the garage to serve its primary purpose once again. Podcast News: Exciting times ahead as I've committed to NaPodPoMo (National Podcast Posting Month) this year! I'm eager to dive into podcasting throughout November, sharing intriguing episodes with all of you. There's a plethora of ideas I've been toying with, and now's the perfect time to bring them to life. Stay tuned and thanks for being on this journey with me!

Good morning, good evening, good afternoon, whatever the case may be.
This is Mike and you're listeningto Mike Dell's World number
3 87. What is it? Uh,
October 21st, 2023, I think.
World.

(00:43):
Ah, there it is. And there we go.
Boy, haven't heard that in a while, have we? Sorry about that. And, uh,
this is kind of my normal,uh, every once in a while,
podcast episode and blog post
over@mikedell.com. So, yeah, it's been a,

(01:03):
uh,
busy summer and fall so far.
Uh, fall is still continuing.
The leaves aren't really changing thatmuch around right around the house here.
Uh, we're, the maplesare starting to, but, uh,
it's been kind of a lamecolor season as far as

(01:24):
as right, right around the house.
Now you get a little ways out oftown and away from the water. Yeah,
it's pretty nice. So, whathave I been up to? I guess the,
uh, biggest thing is, uh,doing the flight training.
So I've been, uh, training on the, uh,

(01:45):
vans. RV 12 is, whichis a, uh, little, uh,
sport aircraft, low wing. Lookslike a little fighter jet.
I'll throw a picture in the show notes,
but I've been doing the training thissummer and it's been a lot of fun. But,
uh, the flying had to come to ascreeching halt. Not really screeching.

(02:06):
I stopped last week and, uh, we'll,we will resume probably mid-winter,
early spring , but, uh,
I have to have shoulder surgery. I, uh,
injured my shoulder in anunknown way, but it, uh,
manifested itself when I was tryingto start the lawnmower this summer and

(02:28):
pulling on the cord and, uh,something ripped. And, and I saw,
I saw the M r I and, uh,indeed I have a nice rip,
uh, in the, uh,
muscle slash tendon area in myshoulder, my right shoulder,
which is a little unfortunate. That's my, uh, mouse hand.

(02:48):
But it's so bad. Now, uh,when I drive my truck, uh,
I can put it in gear with my right hand,
but when I go to put it back up in park,
I gotta reach over with my lefthand and pull it up. It's, you know,
column shift, full sizeChevy, so, oh, well,
and you know, doc sayshe can fix me right up,

(03:11):
but it's gonna be a couple of months, uh,
at least before anything getsanywhere close to back to normal, uh,
six weeks in a sling. And then after that, uh,
physical therapy. So thatwon't be any fun. Uh,
but I do have a, uh, track padfor my mouse that I can put, uh,

(03:33):
so I can still run the, uh, runthe mouse around the screen, uh,
when I'm in the sling. Andapparently the doc said the sling will,
uh, move enough to where I shouldbe able to get on a keyboard.
So take a little adaptationshere and should be good.
I had to modify my recliner with a, uh,

(03:54):
a rope on it so that Ican, uh, initiate the, uh,
recline and then I canput it down with my feet.
That's the one in my office here. Idon't know if you guys knew that I,
I built a office chair out of a,
out of a actual lazy boy recliner.
So I'm sitting here in comfortright here in the office. Uh, but,

(04:17):
uh, I can't run the handle with myright hand when it's in a sling.
So, but yeah, thatsurgery happens Thursday,
the 26th of October. And,you know, probably be, uh,
kind of out of it for theweekend anyway. But, uh,
come November 1st, I'm goingto do Na Pod Pomo again,

(04:41):
national Podcast Posting Month. And,you know, during, during my hiatus here,
I've been doing, you know,
coming up with a lot of little subjectsI wanna talk about on my podcast or the
blog, both. And be sure tocheck out the blog@mikedell.com.
'cause I am gonna have some blogonly posts at some point, too.

(05:01):
Of course. I, I say that all the timeand then never do it. But, uh, we'll see.
We'll see. But, uh,you know, now with the,
the AI and voice, uh,
ai, you know, you can helpyou write and voice to text,
uh, which I have now set up on here.

(05:22):
So I can just do voice totext and it works pretty
good. And then just go inand tweak things as we go.
And, you know, been playing with theAI stuff at work. We've been, you know,
we are working on doingsome AI stuff at Blueberry,
so that should, uh, be interesting. It's,

(05:44):
it's really handy for showprep and, uh, doing images. Uh,
you'll see the image over@mikedoll.com,
and it also should be theepisodic image, uh, that,
uh, I had generated from chat G B T, uh,
what do they call it? Dolly three. Anyway,
it makes some pretty neat artwork.I, uh, also did the artwork.

(06:08):
I changed the artwork for the overallshow, which you might have noticed,
you might not have. Uh,so that will, uh, that,
that was also done with a dolly three.
Gotta get used to how that allworks and you know what to tell it,
to make it do what you wantit to do. And during November,
I will probably have a wholeepisode about my opinion on ai.

(06:32):
So we got an ambulance drivingthrough, if you can hear that,
or firetruck or something.Well, it's kind of normal here.
The weather's not so great. Uh,it's, you know, medium cloudy and,
uh, it's up to 47, but notgood flying weather. And,
uh, not necessarily, uh, nice. Butit's not raining, it's not snowing.

(06:55):
I don't have to shovelit. So we're good. Anyway,
I'm just gonna make thisshort. Uh, be sure to, uh,
check out Mike dell.comand also check out nap pod
pomo.org for all theother shows doing, uh,
national Podcast Posting Month,
which is a challenge to do oneepisode a day for the month of

(07:17):
November. So, we've done it once.
We've attempted it several times. We'regonna do it this time, uh, no problem.
'cause I'm gonna be not doing a wholelot of other stuff other than recovering
from surgery. So, ,why not hit the, uh,
hit the record button and, uh, opine.

(07:40):
So anyway, uh, we'llsee you on November 1st.
Everybody have a good,uh, I guess about a week,
and we'll catch you later.
