The holiday season is my favorite time of year. I grew up in a great family situation where holidays were marked with extended family time together with good food and great family engagements. However, there is a lot of pressure attached to the holidays. This year, I would encourage you to take a step back and relieve some of that stress during this busy season.
While the season is filled with joy, for many leaders it can be the most stressful time of the year. This has to do with making year-end numbers, increased activity with teams, and the distractions facing team members as they move through the holiday season and its many events. We spend 93% of our lives indoors - in an artificial environment. Take some time to get outside and move around to breathe.
GIVE YOURSELF THE GIFT OF MARGIN THIS YEAR
It is important to remember to be good to yourself during the holidays. Give yourself some room to connect, create joy, and create time for rest. It is important to relax and release stress - whether that means taking time to walk and breathe deeply or to isolate yourself some other way to recharge a bit so you can bring your whole self to others.
Until next time, lead well!
