Hi and welcome back to the Women Doin it Big in Beauty Podcast! It’s hard to believe that we have already made it to episode 4! A huge, huge Thank You goes out to everyone that listened, shared, commented and subscribed! If this is your first time listening I’m your host Opal Clark and this podcast is committed to encourage, motivate, inspire, and educate new hairstylist about what it takes to have a lucrative and sustaining career in the beauty industry. Today I want to bring you the 1st solo episode where I want to explain to you a little more in detail about what motivated me to start this podcast, catch you up on the previous episodes, and give you 4 resources that can help you with taking your business to the next level! Secondly, If you have not had an opportunity to listen to the first 3 episodes I really encourage you to go back and listen. I have had the opportunity to interview 3 amazing stylist and salon owners that each bring a unique and new perspective to you. My 1st guest was Sonja Woodard of Sharper Image Hair salon and Sonja shares how she got started in the industry over 25 years ago and how she still has the same enthusiasm to this day! My 2nd guest, Mrs. Yolanda McQueen of Younique Expressions shares how she got her start in a commissioned salon just 5 short years ago and how a good foundation has now prepared her for her new endeavor as an independent contractor with Sola Suites. The third guest is Mrs. Joy McLaughlin Harris and she shares how she made the shift from self-employed to business ownership with her new book making the shift. Finally, 4 resources that you can use right now to take your business to the next level. Education is the key to your success in this industry. The 1st Resource I want to share with you is Behindthechair.com which is by far one of my absolute favorites. If you are not already a member i encourage you to take a look. That's behindthechair.com The second resource is the Professional Beauty Association which is an organization of over 100,000 members that is dedicated to elevate, unite, and serve the beauty industry. They have a few different ways that you can join. . For more information head over to probeauty.org. The third resource is not a beauty resource or organization but it is a resource that has helped me tremendously with leadership and public speaking. This organization is called Toastmasters. Toastmasters is a international organization that has helped people from diverse backgrounds become more confident speakers, communicators, and leaders. This is not a free resource, however the fee is minimal. You can head over to toastmasters.org for more information. The final resource is a FREE RESOURCE that I created and it’s an Instagram Posting Cheat Sheet that will help you if you're not sure what you should be posting to attract your ideal client. You can get this free cheat sheet at obeautygroup.com/igcheatsheet. If you like this podcast and want to get more tips on how to brand and market your beauty business head over Instagram and you can find me @obeautybranding
