In this episode, join Wayne Sutton as he delves into the topic of influence and the power of the mind. Through insightful perspective and real-life examples, he discusses how mindset, effort and faith play a vital role in driving personal and professional success. The question, "Are you on or are you off?" sets the tone for this thought-provoking conversation.

Wayne highlights the importance of staying 'on', maintaining your energy and keeping a positive attitude - things that can often determine the state of our minds and our levels of productivity. He believes that it's not so much about being motivated but rather adopting a clear agenda and staying committed despite how we may feel.

This episode features valuable insights from the book, 'Straight Line Leadership', and the importance of creating a mindset that allows us to operate out of a fixed stance, regardless of our circumstances. Wayne emphasizes the significance of discipline and the ability to stick to our agenda, irrespective of our feelings or emotions.

Wayne encourages listeners to reflect on their productivity levels and evaluate whether they're merely 'going through the motions' or truly being productive. He touches on valuable lessons on influencing oneself before influencing others and the critical role of integrity in these dynamics.

The episode also offers information on Sutton's book, 'The Secrets of Instant Rapport' and an upcoming release on leadership. Evidently, this episode is a treasure trove of insightful takeaways that influence, productivity, commitment and valuable personal growth lessons.

(00:00):
Your ability to persuade others is one of the most powerful resources you will ever discover.
During this eye-opening podcast, you'll join Wayne Sutton as you uncover the
secrets of influence based upon science and proven in the real world.
Are you on or are you off?

(00:21):
Are you on or are you off? Very binary question that I really want you you to grab a hold off.
So actually thinking about the state of mind now, in our coaching,
we talk about the state of mind, we talk about mindset, skillset,
effort, faith, but the mind is a very, it's very fickle.
So one day you're on, one day you're off, one moment you're on, one moment you're off.

(00:44):
What I mean by that is your energy, your attitude, and I really want to talk
about just your discipline, your discipline to agenda.
So when we think about you're listening to maybe a great motivational speech.
I used to love listening to, and I still go back from time to time, listen, Tony Robbins.
Yeah, he doesn't claim to be a motivational. He claims to be transformational.

(01:06):
He is, but there's motivation there.
So motivational speakers, let's take Eric Thomas, Les Brown,
Tony Robbins, for some, Gary Vee. It depends.
Where do you grab? But here's the key is really, even though they say it in
many different ways, is really rolls down to, are you on or are you off?

(01:29):
And I love this. I picked this up, actually, that statement.
I keep thinking about it today from the book, Straight Line Leadership.
And it really is so powerful because it talks about that, creating that stance
in your mind that you know what you're going to do, regardless of what happens, what doesn't happen.
I'll give you an example. There's days I'm going to go from a very small to

(01:50):
a very big area. There's days I wake up in the morning. I wake up.
I'm not one of those 5 a.m. guys. I'm more like quarter to six o'clock.
But I wake up in the morning and there's days my mind is running. I may need to go.
I jump up, coffee, time with my wife, time with God, and then I'm going through my day.
And there's other days when I'm like, I really wish it was Saturday.

(02:11):
And it's just like the energy isn't there. The mindset isn't there.
I literally track my sleep. So when a sleep tracker and I'm looking like, well, I slept good.
I had plenty of REM sleep. You know, deep sleep was good. I'm sleeping good. Like where am I at?
And I realized then that it's this focus.
So I've had to have, I have to create the mindset or the stance in which I'm going to operate out of.

(02:33):
It's Friday as I'm recording this. It's the beginning of the month.
So let me just say that There's two conflicting thoughts there if you're not
careful. Like Friday, all right, all right.
Thank God it's Friday. I'm going to go and enjoy the weekend, spend time with family.
Okay, great. Okay. But at the same time, very important here,
it's the beginning of the month, which means we've got to set projections.

(02:56):
And for those who know as a sales coach, we've got to set projections. We've got to set goals.
We've got to look at what wasn't working, and we've got to move past that.
And we've got to constantly be on.
I've got to be on today with my clients, with my prospects, with Wayne.
And so do you. You've got to be on.

(03:18):
Now, does that mean pumping yourself up motivation-wise? Possibly.
If that's what does it for you. But it's more. Listen to me because motivation
will go. Willpower will go. It is an agenda.
It's an agenda. It's commitment.
My agenda is if I don't feel like getting my daughters up and getting them ready
for school and getting them fed and brushing their teeth.

(03:41):
Doesn't matter. Doesn't matter how I feel. The agenda is they go to school to
get educated. They, you know, okay, that's the agenda.
So we do it regardless.
And so here's my question for you. And I really want you to ask yourself,
I printed this out yesterday and put it on my, I put it up on my windows.
I can see it. I printed this out.
Am I being productive or just going through the motions?

(04:05):
Am I being productive? Again, this is from Straight Line Leadership, Great book.
Am I being productive or just going through the motions?
Okay. I want you to think about that today. This is for you.
Now we're going to jump back into creating commitments and discipline.
And we're going to go back into, we will hang tight. I keep getting your emails,

(04:30):
getting your LinkedIn messages.
We will go more into influence than others. But I'm going to tell tell you this,
the number one way to influence others is learn to influence yourself first.
When you influence yourself first, then you'll have a better ability to influence others.
And you'll do it with integrity because you have integrity towards your own self.

(04:51):
So short message today. Hope this has been helpful.
So think about this. Are you being productive or just going through the motions?
Have you got a stance, a mindset created, an agenda of commitments that that
you will do regardless of how you feel.
Regardless of how you feel, very important. And are you on or are you off?

(05:12):
And that doesn't mean I'm on today.
Am I on in this moment when I have a prospect in front of me,
have a client in front of me, have my children in front of me,
am I on as a dad, am I on as a husband?
Am I on or am I off? Does that make sense?
Okay. This is what I want you to focus on. Create action. Get things done.

(05:35):
Move yourself. Move yourself and move people that you're influencing into a
realm of productive action.
So as always, influence others by influencing yourself first.
Okay. Remember that. Now, for those who are listening to this,
if you haven't picked up my book yet, it's on Audible any day.
On Audible any day, should I say.
It's out now on Kindle. is paperback, hardcover, The Secrets of Instant Rapport.

(06:00):
So just go to Amazon, Secrets of Instant Rapport, Wayne Sutton, pick it up.
Thank you for the guys who are giving, we've already got about three great reviews
on there. Thank you for the great reviews.
This book is going to be, what I say is one of the hallmarks of personal communication.
And again, and you will see it in the book, I started about communicating with
yourself and building rapport with your own self. So your mind and soul are in sync.

(06:23):
Anyway, go pick up the book. I hope you you enjoy it, it's being audible any
day. And then when it is, I'll let you know that as well.
We also have a new book coming out. We have a new book coming out on leadership.
So I will be releasing that. Our goal is to have it released by end of month.
So just doing some final editing and we'll be sending that out too.

(06:45):
Really, really important. If you want to lead any area of your,
any area of your life, you want to be a better leader.
This book is going to be for you. So We'll have that out in just the next few days, hopefully.
So again, thanks for jumping on. Share this podcast with somebody.
That's your call to action. Well, your call to action is actually be on.
But your second call to action is share this podcast with somebody that you

(07:09):
think may find it helpful.
I appreciate you and God bless.
