Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hi, Rufio, what did you have to explain to Ashland yesterday?
Because this is what this is what I want to
know for the parents out there, for the grown ups
out there. Eight five five five nine three five. What
did you have to explain to your child that you
yourself either didn't know how to explain or like it
was just it was just too much, like the details
weren't important, Like maybe you just made it up because

(00:22):
at the time it was easier just to make it up.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
Right.

Speaker 3 (00:25):
So yesterday our dog Benny got some surgery. Yesterday he
got neutered and he also got some teeth taken out.
And we were walking in the other day before his
surgery and we're like, oh, he's got to go into
the to the doctor to get surgery. And Ashley's like why,
It's like, well, he's got to get fixed.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
And he's like what does that mean. I'm like, oh,
here we go, Like.

Speaker 3 (00:49):
He's you know, it's it's better for him so he
won't have babies, and acting like but I want him
to have babies. I want them to have like three babies.
I'm like, oh, here we go. Like I've never had
a dog before, so I don't even know how to
explain what what getting a dog neutered means, you know, like,
I know there's benefits to it, but I don't know
what they are.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
I just know Also.

Speaker 3 (01:07):
That his his has Kiki calls it Cahony's are gone
whatever she calls.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
There's just some removal of items that were yeah, you know,
helpful like that.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
And then he came back yesterday and asked him just
wants to play with it. I was like, you gotta,
you gotta settle down with the dog, like you can't
hug him.

Speaker 1 (01:22):
You can't.

Speaker 3 (01:22):
He's he's very fragile right now. So he didn't understand.
I'm like, I don't know. I still don't understand the
benefits of neutering a dog, So.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
I'll calm him down. Yeah, and I had to. I
had to look it up.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
So it's it's like they live longer. Yeah, they'll they're calmer.
Obviously they won't be humping things, right, you know, for
the streets like that. So yeah, so it was it
was very interesting to explain to a four year old
what happens.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
To a dog, because I gotta think at some point
it's just easier just to I know, either it's too
complex of a concept, you're not ready to talk about it,
or it's it's easier to lie because you don't know
the answer.

Speaker 4 (02:02):
I vividly remember being little and asking myself, dad, hey, where.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
Did those two things go on the back of real
his cat? And they didn't. I remember them looking at
each other being like, oh my god, like, what do
we tell her?

Speaker 1 (02:12):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (02:12):
My other problem is is that action and like to
repeat things, so he'll like, next time you see someone
we're with the dog, he'd be like, hey, my dog.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
You know he can't have babies no more.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
You know, he'll say, he'll say something I tell him,
that's the nicest thing.

Speaker 1 (02:24):
He'll People are sending their texting logos already of the
Kiki show.

Speaker 4 (02:31):
What.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
Crazy show, Crazy friend? I love a k that might
be too many caves. I was gonna say, a crazy friend. Yeah,
remember the number of case concerns me? Oh my god,
I would never.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
By the way, why did you text that it's from
your phone number? I do like parents that will say
I don't know. They'll lie to their kids about it's
less less important. I mean, like, I don't know. I
want to go to the ice cream store, like ice
cream sort store's closed and it's you know, three o'clock
out of two.

Speaker 3 (03:13):
Yeah, like like your sister does with Polly. She says, yeah,
the toy store is closed. Yeah, once you go to
the toy store, it's like noon on a Wednesday. I'm
very much open, but it's it's definitely closed. But I
don't know, I mean, what other Like I can imagine
if my kid were asking at a young age about
how babies are made, It's like, at what point? I mean,
I know you don't want to lie to your kid,

(03:33):
but at what point is it just kind of too
complex or like you're gonna you're gonna have to go
down a rabbit hole that you're just not Maybe you're
just not ready, you know, you just don't feel like it.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
So what do you tell them? You know, you tell
them like a stork comes and ask somebody else. I mean,
like how long do you tell the fancy, the fanciful story,
like the you know, the fairy tale until you actually
have to go, Okay, this is what's gonna happen.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (04:00):
My brother takes a very much a real approach with
his kids, Like he just tells them like straight up,
like they're adults like they are adults, and I'm like, wow,
I could never do that. And I've also learned when
talking to children that I really don't know what I'm
talking about, Like you know, like that you question, I'm.

Speaker 2 (04:16):
Like, I don't know, bro, It's just it's just the
way it is. Yeah, just take that.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
Yeah, I say that a lot. It's like because Ash
asks a lot of questions like what is it, I'm like.

Speaker 2 (04:26):
It's it is what it is. Like you just get
so frustrated you don't know how to respond anymore. So
it's like what they just go but why? Yeah, but why?

Speaker 3 (04:34):
It's just a constant Well I love. I love the
constant questions, but then I don't have the answers more.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
Somebody text it hard to explain to my three and
six year olds why I was sitting on the couch
with an ice pack on my balls after a sectimate.
I keep asking why I needed surgery. Our dog just
got nuted, and our five year old walked around telling
everyone his dog had his balls chopped off. That's what
I'm saying, so that no dogs didn't get pregnant anymore
from him.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
Damn. Wait, I have the funniest neuter story. You see that.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
You can't tease us like that. Someone texts, I have
the funniest neuter story. Well, then call up here and
tells the damn stories.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
Yeah, call Key's crazy friends over here.

Speaker 1 (05:12):
It's hard to explain why you're not with the other parent. Oh,
I can imagine that, like as a as a kid,
you know, you're like, well, because your dad got with
a stripper, you know, Like, I mean, how do you like?

Speaker 2 (05:23):
I mean, I don't know, Like, what are you saying?
What do you mean he's with the secretary? Why were
me and my sister born in the same year?

Speaker 3 (05:33):
Right?

Speaker 1 (05:38):
Damn, I'm I'm in the pool guy cleaned up a
lot of things.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
I don't know, you know, It's like, what do you
what do you say? Oh?

Speaker 1 (05:49):
Man, hold on, I want to hear this. I want
to hear this funny Newter story. Well, one morning, my
see that. And the other thing is I read these
texts like blindly as they come in, and then I
regret halfway through period. One morning, my seven year old
woke up and had to go to the bathroom and said, Mom,
why is it so hard to go pee when I
first wake up? Excellent question, Mom, why is that I

(06:10):
still want to know the answer. It depends on the
child's age. Someone said, my daughter's eleven. There's a lot
of things. I just tell her straight up. Kids just
smarter than we make them out to be.

Speaker 4 (06:20):
Yeah, my friend's son goes, mom, why are my pajamas
getting really tight?

Speaker 2 (06:26):
She's like, oh crap.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
Ask your dad, Emily, good morning, good morning. Why what's
your funny neuter story? Not about you, of course, about
the dog, but you know.

Speaker 6 (06:41):
Oh my gosh, no, no, not me. So basically, what
happened when I was younger, My dogs went to go
get neutered, and my mom did explain to me, you
know what actually happened that, you know, kiki, they cut
off their kojones. So yeah, years later, my dad was
going for of easectomy, and so what I like, my

(07:03):
mom was explaining to me what that meant. I looked
at her with like tears in my eyes, and I
was like, are they gonna cut.

Speaker 5 (07:11):
Off his kalhone?

Speaker 6 (07:14):
I thought that they were going to do the same
thing to him. I was so upset, But it turns
out he was fine. My mom just said he was
going to be sore for a couple of days.

Speaker 2 (07:24):
So still that's excellent news, Emily.

Speaker 6 (07:27):
You wouldn't have thought by the way that he was
acting after the procedure.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
But I thank you. That was a good story. Had
a good day all I love you guys.

Speaker 1 (07:37):
I love you too. Glad you called him. Meredith, Hi, y,
good morning. So you have a five and a seven
year old. And then when I ask you questions, what
do you do?

Speaker 4 (07:48):
So there's like no smoke in yours in our house,
it's just like I explain everything like they would read.

Speaker 2 (07:55):
It in a science book. So I was getting.

Speaker 4 (07:57):
Dressed one day and my daughter grabs at my stomach
like a big hunk of fat, and she goes, Mama,
why are you so squishy? And I said, well, that's
that's fat, okay, And it's really important because it keeps
your body warm, it gives you energy, and it protects
your organs. And guess what, no further question, Oh.

Speaker 2 (08:19):
Wow, okay, all right, so you just you just keep
it real. Yeah. Yeah. And then when we.

Speaker 4 (08:26):
See people walking around, they don't look at me and
go why is that person so fat? Right, they just know,
like that's how the body works, Like everyone looks different.
Everyone's got to protect their organs, stay warm. And have
lots of energy.

Speaker 1 (08:39):
I like that explanation. That's that's why I have fat
on my body. That's the reason why, because I need
to stay warm exactly, and energy, Meredith, energy, you need
all that, I need all those things.

Speaker 2 (08:53):
Yes, thank you. I have a good day, right Glas
you called?

Speaker 1 (08:58):
See I guess, I guess you just guy telling the
truth maybe you know, but lies are much easier sometimes,
especially if it's like a really complex topic or if
it's maybe if it's about sex or something. It's like,
I don't, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (09:09):
Yep, I don't. I don't.

Speaker 1 (09:12):
I don't want to tell you what really is happening here,
So I'm just gonna lie.

Speaker 2 (09:15):
Did you ever have did you have that talk with
your parents? Did you have a talk with your parents
about I knowes? I don't. I don't.

Speaker 1 (09:23):
I don't think they did, like didn't have it with me.
I just don't. I think they would have. I just
don't remember, like sitting down and like, Okay, this is
what's going on. I don't remember that. Really did you
have that, like formally? Did any of you guys? O?

Speaker 5 (09:35):
I know, No, I just had an aunt she kept
it real. Yeah, yeah, my aunt she kept it real
with all the kids, like you knew when you were
with her, she was like, yo, don't protect yourself like
she taught us all. But yeah, parents, and now Helena
just took me one day to get birth control and
I was like, oh, okay, oh you think I'm getting
it popping all right?

Speaker 2 (09:54):
Well, yeah, you know the story about my mom.

Speaker 1 (09:55):
I think it was fifteen when she went out and
bought me the extra family size box of Magnum prophylactic
and and just put it on top of my laundry
like nothing had happened, and a word was never spoken
about it. And I was like, okay, well I understand that.
First of all, you were six years early on that
I had to dust those things off. Second of all, Magnum,

(10:17):
thank you.

Speaker 2 (10:18):
I mean that's you know, it's and

Speaker 1 (10:21):
I guess my dad was privately furious of her for
this thought that she was enabling me, but not a
word was ever spoken about it.
