This week was a billion dollar week for girl power in LA.
Barbie and Taylor Swift ruled LA this week, and with two teenage daughters it was hard for me to escape the fever, with one local radio station even renaming themselves to SWIFT FM.
Greta Gerwig’s Barbie movie is estimated to have brought in $1b after just 3 weeks at the box office. This makes Greta Gerwig the first solo female director with a billion dollar movie.
And the Taylor Swift Eras Tour, (a retrospective of her 10 albums) and which wrapped up its US leg in Los Angeles, last night is set to gross over $1b making it the highest grossing tour of all time.
I don't know whether this means that glass ceilings are being broken for the next generation of girls but I do know that early education in financial literacy is critical in maximizing a girl's chances of building wealth over her lifetime.
