My guest today is Rekha Mody, a philanthropist and women’s activist based in Calcutta India. Rekha is the founder of 3 organizations:
Divya Chaya Trust (1984) -which rehabilitates and supports underprivileged children and destitute women.
Habiart Foundation to promote contemporary art, and spearheaded Sphote “A creative protest against terror” in 2001.
Sri Shakti (1998) - which translates as “the parallel force” to promote women’s networking for action as a catalyst for social change.
Rekha Mody has been working tirelessly for social change for over 40 years and is the mother of two daughters and wife of the Late industrialist Padam Pat Mody.
In this episode Rekha talks about the work her organizations are doing to teach women, who otherwise may have abandoned their children out of desperation, to understand their capacity to learn about money and digital literacy.
