In Episode 5 of 'Forgotten Voices' meet Casey Gwinn, who in 2003 was credited by President Bush of pioneering the Family Justice Center movement and identifying the relationship between domestic violence, trauma-exposed children and strangulation of women.
While all forms of DV must be taken seriously, strangulation is a clear indicator that the abuser will eventually take his victim's life.
Mr. Gwinn was in OKC recently training Oklahoma advocates on addressing strangulation in domestic violence, sexual assault, elder abuse and child abuse cases. He also discusses how some well-meaning proponents of justice reform in Oklahoma are either disregarding or oblivious to the deadly consequences of this criminal behavior.
