In this episode of The Self-Employed Life, I had the pleasure of interviewing Mark Herschberg, an expert in content marketing and creator of the Brain Bump app. We delved into the evolution of content consumption, emphasizing the shift towards non-linear content. Mark highlighted the importance of understanding human behavior in content creation and marketing. We discussed the impact of AI on content creation and the need for a zero trust world to combat misinformation. Mark explained how the Brain Bump app addresses the disconnect between learning and application by providing spaced repetition of key ideas. The app benefits both users and content creators by delivering timely and branded content. Overall, the episode explored the changing landscape of content marketing and the role of technology in enhancing content consumption.

Mark is the author of The Career Toolkit, Essential Skills for Success That No One Taught You and creator of the Brain Bump app. Educated at MIT, Mark has spent his career launching and fixing new ventures at startups, Fortune 500s, and academia. He’s developed new software languages, online marketplaces, new authentication systems, and tracked criminals and terrorists on the dark web. Mark helped create the Undergraduate Practice Opportunities Program, MIT’s Career Success Accelerator, where he’s taught for over twenty years. Mark also serves on the board of the non-profit Plant a Million Corals.
