Kayla Barfield was held hostage and used for ransom after providing support to a woman claiming to be in a domestic situation. Her battered body was found in the backseat of her own vehicle in another city and her captors escaped not once but twice due to poor police response. Detective Adelemeyer and Lt. Petz from the D.C Homicide unit have failed to return phone calls, bring in witnesses, and provide updates despite the evidence available to them. Currently Kayla’s case is not seen as a homicide, but an accidental death due to the authorities claiming she said she fell down a flight of stairs.
