Could you tell your story in 20 seconds? Hmmm…that doesn’t seem like a lot of time. But what if you had 400 seconds? Could you tell your story then?

In episode 105, Genny spoke with Justin Ladia, organizer of PechaKucha Night Winnipeg. Created in Japan in 2003, PechaKucha (pronounced pechakcha) is Japanese for “chit chat”. It’s a free online and offline global storytelling platform that celebrates people, passion, and creative thought. Through a 20 x 20 presentation format, a slide show of 20 images auto advances after 20 seconds in a non-stop presentation of 400 seconds.

A graphic designer with Tetro Design, (a Winnipeg graphic design company), a community organizer, a puzzle hunt hobbyist (and host of The Extraction – a podcast about puzzles), and one of the organizers of Ai-Kon, Winnipeg’s largest anime convention, Justin has organized PechaKucia Night Winnipeg since 2017. He watched a friend do a presentation in 2015 and thought he could do that. He then volunteered to do a presentation for Vol. 23 and then did another presentation for Vol. 33 in 2017. The current organizer saw how passionate he was about PechaKucia and offered him the opportunity to organize it. He's been organizing it ever since.

Genny will be presenting at the next installment of PechaKucha Night Winnipeg Vol. 47 which will be held on Wednesday, June 28 at 7 pm at the Park Theatre Winnipeg. She’ll be sharing her story of Coffee with Genny B!
