(00:38):
But I am loving this pumpkinspice and everything nice that
is coming along with thisseason.
I've already been enjoying allthe pumpkin things, including
the mini pumpkin chocolate chipcookies from Swig, but I am just
itching to get out my cozysweaters and my leggings and
enjoy like the cooler mornings.
(00:58):
We are getting little bits ofglimpses of it, but it is still
80 degrees here.
But since it finally droppeddown this week, I am just
enjoying what I can get of thelittle bit of cooler weather,
but I'm also a little bit sad tosee the warmness go away because
I love it so much.
So I just I just can never behappy apparently.
I just want to I just want alittle bit of everything.
(01:20):
Today we're going to dive intofour simple ways that you can
feel your best this fall.
A beauty refresh, confidencemindset shifts, new routines,
and easy, simple style swaps.
Let's dive in first to thebeauty refresh.
Switch your moisturizer forsomething that is richer and
maybe add like a hydrating serumor a hydrating face primer
(01:45):
before you put on your makeup.
Your skin is just going to becraving that moisture the more
we get into winter.
So as we're getting in thesecooler months of fall, make sure
you're giving your skin thehydration that it needs.
Another fun way for a beautyrefresh this fall is to do a
weekly face mask or like alittle at-home spa ritual.
A tip to get this done is toleave your mask in the shower.
(02:08):
So that way when you're in theshower and you have a few extra
minutes, you can throw on a facemask and just have like that
little nice feeling of being atthe spa quickly at home.
Or another thing would be topick a masking day.
So you know, every Sunday nightis going to be masking night or
whatever day it is for you, thenyou know that you are going to
(02:28):
have that little break and thatlittle pick me up with your fall
beauty refresh.
Another one that I thought wasso fun as I was preparing this
episode was to look up theseasonal hair trends that are
going on right now.
So I found an article oninstyle.com and it had the nine
fall hair trends.
(02:49):
Suede blonde was one of thepopular ones.
French layers.
So this is like long layerswhere you have the longer hair
and longer layers in your hair.
Rich brunette, which I feel likeis a classic fall color.
Polished bobs.
I don't know that I could evergo for a bob, but that is in
(03:09):
right now.
I used to have, it was actuallyprobably more of like a pixie
cut, which is the next one, thetailored pixie.
Except for it wasn't quitepixie.
It was like it was to my chin, and that is the shortest I have
ever gone, and that was likeright out of high school.
So that was a long time ago.
Um, but polished bobs andtailored pixies, those are both
in this fall.
(03:30):
Soft caramel is another color, and copper hues.
Those two shades are in thisfall, and Birkin Bangs.
So this is like the soft lashgrazing fringe bangs that would
probably drive me crazy becausethey would just be touching my
lashes all day long.
But this is very, very trendythis fall, and a lived-in color
look.
This is actually more of likewhat I currently have, so I was
(03:52):
happy to see that hear thisbecause I'm actually sticking to
the trends, which I veryapparently rarely do.
Um, I just do it whenever I'mliking, but this one is a very
popular trend this fall.
It's like the natural throughthe roots and your mid length,
and then a little bit of blondeon the ends of your hair and
around your face.
Fun seasonal nails or lip colorswaps are a really easy way to
(04:15):
just feel fresh and up tocurrent trends this fall.
So you can go for berries orburnt orange, deep greens.
That's a really, really easy wayto freshen up your beauty
routine this fall.
What I have been doing with mybeauty refresh this fall is I'm
wearing more browns, greens,burgundies.
I'm focusing on the warmercolors for my nails.
(04:37):
And I have started trying topaint my nails each Sunday
night.
It has brought me so muchhappiness throughout the week as
I can look down and see that mynails are beautifully painted.
And I've I never thought itwould bring me so much joy, but
I am not one who's ever gottenmy nails done regularly.
I would love to do that someday, but it's just not for me right
now.
(04:58):
And um, but having that littleDIY nail painting every Sunday
night, and then having beingable to look at it throughout
the week has brought me so muchjoy.
I have loved that.
So that is one of my fallrefresh things that I'm doing.
Another thing is I keep CrystalBall in my shower.
This is a face mask, it's likean at-home microderm abrasion
(05:18):
treatment, and it's exfoliating, and I keep that in my shower.
I keep it in my shower yearround, but I usually only do it
like once a week, like typicallyon Sunday nights is when I would
do that face mask.
But in the fall and wintermonths, I up it to two times a
week, and my skin definitelyneeds it because it's just
drier, and so I need to get allof that dead skin off.
(05:41):
And I love the way that it makesmy skin feel, and it also helps
my makeup lay so much better.
So I will include a link to thatin the show notes if you want to
try that out.
Once your skin and hair feelrefreshed, it's amazing how much
more confident you feel.
That brings us into our nexttip, which is confident mindset
shifts for this fall.
(06:02):
Small mental shifts can bring ahuge big confidence boost.
There is something about thistime of year I feel like we get
it a few different times ofyear.
We get it in January as the newyear comes, we get it in August
as the new school year iscoming, and we also, I feel
like, get it at the brand newtimes of new seasons.
So we're entering the holidayseason, we're entering fall, and
(06:25):
so it is a perfect time to havea mindset shift.
So some easy things that you cando are just little daily micro
affirmations.
So put sticky notes where youcan see them, or have a timer
come up on your phone with areminder that has like an
affirmation on it, somethingthat can have just little daily
micro affirmations.
(06:46):
So start your sentence with Iand then whatever it is, just to
feel help you to feel empowered.
So like I am strong andconfident you could do something
like that and just have theselittle daily micro affirmations
either on sticky notesthroughout the house where
you'll see them through the dayor in your car, or have your
reminders on your phone pop uplike every so often with an
(07:08):
affirmation.
That can be a really goodconfidence mindset shift and
help you to boost yourconfidence this fall.
Another one is gratitudejournaling or like a
self-reflection journaling.
So more this is different thanjust like your today.
I did this and this and this andthis.
It's not just a dailyreflection, it's more of
(07:29):
thinking of specific things youare gr grateful for or
self-reflection of like areas inyour life that you felt proud,
where you felt confident, whereyou felt like you were
appreciating yourself andgrateful for who you are.
So if you can focus onself-appreciation this time of
year, then that can be a reallygood mindset shift.
(07:51):
And I have actually started todo my gratitude journaling at
night instead of in themornings, and I have found that
it has helped me to calm my mindbefore I go to sleep and to
focus on something good rightbefore I go to sleep has helped
me to sleep better and to wakeup with less anxiety and just to
feel more confident in myself.
(08:12):
Another thing is yoga ormeditation.
There's something about likethis time of year, especially
with uh yoga or just breathingand meditation.
I love to do this before bed.
Um, there's Apple Fitness haslike the best yoga practices,
and they have some really, really great ones that are only
10 minutes long.
(08:32):
So on nights where I'm feelingtense, I can just put on a yoga
practice on my Apple Fitness andjust do 10 minutes, and I feel
so much better.
And I feel like it's verygrounding for this time of year
where we are so busy.
Speaking of being so busy, youcan reframe your I have to blah
blah blah blah blah into Ichoose to.
(08:53):
So change that I have tolanguage to I choose to, but
also at the same time be mindfulabout what we are choosing.
So yeah, there are some thingsthat we have to do, there, but
there's also some things that weget to choose to do or we get to
choose not to do.
So just to be mindful about whatwe choose and then to reframe
(09:14):
that language to I choose to dothis instead of I have to.
And then embrace imperfectionthis season.
This season is crazy busy.
There's going to be a lot ofstuff happening, and there's
gonna be some balls that aredropped and some things that
aren't done that we want to bedone, but if we can just
celebrate real moments and begrateful for those cozy,
(09:37):
beautiful fall moments that wedo get.
I have started most of myweekday mornings with a walk,
which has been really nicebecause the cooler weather is
here, and so I don't feel like Iam going to melt the second I
walk out the door.
And so I have started getting mykids out, my older kids off to
school, and then starting mymornings with a walk.
(09:59):
And the cooler, cooler weatherhas really been helpful for
that.
And I've noticed a huge shift inmy mindset throughout the day.
If I can start my morning with awalk, and I just feel so much
better by getting outside in thesunshine and getting that
walk-in.
So feeling confident is easierwhen we support ourselves with
little daily routines, whichbrings us into the third way
(10:23):
that we can feel our best thisfall, and that is with new
routines.
It is a new season, so let's putin some new routines.
It doesn't have to be hard, theycan be simple, but they can be
like a refresh, and um, as theseason is changing, our routines
can change a little bit, whichcan help us to feel not like
we're doing the same mundanething all the time, but that we
(10:45):
are getting a boost of energyand focus and calm.
So some morning ritual tweaks.
Think about your current morningroutine.
What are you currently doing?
What could you tweak?
Like, could you add like a five,ten-minute stretch?
Could you add some journaling?
Could you add listening to aspecific type of podcast or
specific type of audiobook ormaybe a talk that you enjoy?
(11:08):
Could you add something likethat to your routine?
Could you add some mindfulness?
What's something that you couldjust add to your routine, or
maybe take something out of yourroutine and replace it with
something different as we are inthis new season of the year?
And then another thing that Ihave started to do that I've
loved is to have an eveningwindow.
I always seems like have anevening routine, but something
(11:31):
that I have started to put intoplace this fall is to light a
candle with my evening window.
So I'm doing my exact sameroutine that I typically always
do, but I've just started it bylighting a candle, and of course
it's a pumpkin candle, and Ihave that pumpkin spice smell,
and that has been a really greatevening routine for me.
A weekend reset.
(11:52):
I'm focusing a lot this fall tonot just use weekends to like be
productive and have it as likethis is a great way to tackle my
to-do list.
I have the whole weekend, but Iam trying to do something that
is like seasonally fun.
So something that is fall-like.
I want to try and do everyweekend.
So corn maize, pumpkin patch, gohiking, have my little boy and
(12:16):
my husband go fishing, likesomething that is like specific
to fall.
I am really trying to put thatinto my weekend and to bring
that fall season to our week aswe finish out the week and then
start a new week.
Quick movement breaks during theday because it is cooler
outside, we can actually getoutside more.
My little boys have been playingoutside basically every single
(12:40):
morning, all morning long, and Ihave loved it because I can have
the door open a little bit, wecan feel hear the birds and have
the cooler air early in themornings, and of course, it's
just gonna get cooler as thedays go on, and I can also take
time during the day to just takequick movement breaks, whether
that's just walking to themailbox in the afternoon or
(13:01):
doing something where I canactually get outside because
it's not so hot out there now,and I can enjoy those little
breaks.
And then another thing that I,of course, am doing that I'm
sure everyone is doing, is I amadding cozy, healthy fall soup
recipes.
I went to the grocery store theother day because I was making a
soup, and it was a perfect, likeit was a stormy day.
(13:23):
It was like our first stormy dayof the fall, and I was like, oh,
I should go and get some morerolls because I had put some out
that I had in the freezer, but Ionly had a few, and I was like,
I'm gonna want some more.
And so I went to the storehoping to find rolls, and of
course, all the rolls were gonebecause I think everyone had the
same idea that I had, andeveryone was making soup on that
rainy day.
Uh, but it is the perfect timeto just bring out some of your
(13:46):
favorite fall recipes.
Mine are always soups, that'slike my default.
I love soups, and I have soupsall year round, even when it's
115 degrees outside.
I'm just crazy like that, and Ilove to make soups, but having
soups in the fall is the best.
So, something else that myfamily is doing this fall, kind
of going with like our weekendreset that I'm trying to do, is
(14:08):
we are going to try and visitfrom now until the end of the
year.
I don't know if we're gonna beable to do it because there are
a lot of them, but maybe wewill.
We are going to try and visitevery park like in our area, so
like within like a 30-minuteradius of where we live, we want
to visit all of the parks.
And we're gonna have like a parkbucket list, and I want to take
pictures of the kids in front ofeach park, each playground.
(14:30):
And at the end of the season, wewill make a book that has like
all the pictures of us at all ofthe parks, and I'm really
excited to do that this fall.
And once your body and your mindare feeling supported by
refreshed routines, it's time tomake a few simple and easy style
swaps to fully embrace thisseason.
So, of course, style swaps arewhat we want to do as we are
(14:53):
transitioning from this summerto the fall season, but we want
it to be effortless, we want itto be easy wardrobe updates that
just incre instantly increaseour confidence and our joy.
You can swap out your summerdresses for more sweaters and
leggings.
All the oversized sweaters andleggings is like my favorite
fall look ever, and I don'tthink I can ever get rid of
(15:16):
that.
I love it.
You could, if you're intoscarves, you could pull out your
scarves, you can pull out yourbeanies.
Uh boots are my definite go-to.
I love wearing boots in thefall.
And you can, like I saidearlier, transition your bright
happy colors to more of the richfall hues, like the burgundy and
the mustard and the forestgreen, and you can upgrade your
(15:36):
loungewear, which is likeanother thing that I love about
fall, is I can have those comfytwo-piece sets that I just love,
and they can be comfy yet stillchic and elegant, and I love
two-piece sets so much.
And you can also think aboutdifferent textures this fall,
like maybe pull out some of yourvelvet material clothing or your
(15:59):
knits.
I love the knits in the fall.
My personal favorite two-pieceset from Amazon.
It's a navy blue two-piece sweatset, and I love it.
It is so comfy and it, but yeah,it's like so cute.
I can have it really casual andwear it down, but I can also
kind of dress it up and make ita little bit nicer.
So I feel like I'm wearingpajamas, but I could still go
(16:21):
out in public, and it's one ofmy favorites.
So I will include that in theshow notes because it's a good
one.
So if you're looking for a goodtwo-piece set, then make sure
you check that one out.
Beauty refresh, confidencemindset, new routines, and style
swap.
Those are all really simple waysthat you can feel your best this
fall.
You don't need a full-onmakeover, you just need small
(16:42):
tweaks in these areas that canjust leave you feeling radiant,
confident, and joyful this fall.
Now we don't have to do thesethings just because it's fall,
but I do think it is a fun wayto bring out our confidence and
help us to feel a little bitbetter about ourselves and like
there is some excitementhappening in the air as we are
transitioning from the warmermonths to the cooler months.
(17:03):
So pick one thing from maybeeach of these categories.
Just one simple thing.
Try it and see if it makes youfeel any better.
See if it's fun.
If it's not, then you can alwaysgo back to what you were doing
before.
But if you loved this episode, Iwould love it if you would share
it with a friend who you thinkcould use a little fall boost,
who maybe loves the fall season.
And I hope that you can feellike your best, most confident
(17:26):
self this fall.
