What if you already have everything you need to be confident? In this powerful conversation with confidence coach Star, we explore how to unlock the self-worth that's been inside you all along.

Star shares her remarkable journey from someone who struggled with confidence to becoming a beacon of light for others. "I didn't always have confidence," she reveals, describing how past relationships and criticism led her to question her worth. But through persistent self-work and affirmations, she discovered her true value – and now helps women do the same.

As a personal trainer who evolved into a confidence coach, Star noticed something profound: while clients initially sought physical transformation, their greatest needs were often mental and emotional. "It's good to be healthy, it's good to take care of your body," she explains, "but if you're not taking care of your mind, then what are we doing here?" This holistic approach helps women recognize that confidence comes from within, not from external validation or appearance.

The conversation offers practical confidence-building strategies anyone can implement. From daily affirmations ("you are beautiful, you are smart") to setting boundaries ("stop letting people walk on you"), Star provides actionable steps that transformed her life. Perhaps most powerful is her commitment to community-building through "Baddies Breakfast Club," bringing women together to form meaningful connections across all life stages.

Ready to transform your relationship with yourself? Listen now and discover why Star believes "when a woman has confidence, you cannot touch her." Your journey to unshakable self-worth starts here.

(00:28):
I am your host, sierra, and I'mso happy that you tuned in to
listen.
Today I have a very specialguest.
Her name is Star and she is aconfidence promoter.
She's a personal trainer, shehas so much to offer women and
she helps women to feel liketheir best selves.
And, star, I am so excited tohear from you.
Can you just tell our listenersa little bit about you?

Speaker 2 (00:50):
All right.
Well, my name is Star.
I grew up here in St George, utah, and I've known Ciara for
quite some time.
I went to Dixie High School.
I was on the soccer team.
I ran track.
I went on to run in college.
College led me to go to WeberState and from there I just
realized I don't really want torun track, but that got me into
personal training.

(01:10):
So right now I'm into personaltraining.
I'm a personal trainer and nowa confidence coach.
One thing I have always loved isto just help people.
I knew I had one goal and thatwas to spread light.
My name is the one thing that Ithink I just live by.
I'm just a light for others.
I just want to help others.
I want to help others see thatthey're enough, that they're

(01:32):
beautiful, that they're handsome, that they are enough, and
that's one thing I take pride in.
I didn't always have confidence.
Confidence came from multipleexperiences with, I guess, just
my dating situation, where Ifelt like I wasn't enough.
People told me I wasn'tbeautiful, I wasn't smart.
They made me feel like I wasn'tgood enough.

(01:53):
That's one thing I made.
A mission was to first of allmake sure I knew that I was
beautiful that I was strong, that I was worthy, that I was
enough.
Once I finally got thatconfidence up, I was like, wow,
now you start sharing it to theworld.
And that's when I reallystarted pouring into people and
where I knew I actually have abrand.

(02:14):
I'm writing a poetry book.
It's called Pure Heart, and Irealized my heart is pure.
I'm not a bad person, I am agood person.
I want what's best in the world, and so I think confidence was
what I was meant to share withthe world.
It's what people need.
Everybody needs confidence.
Everybody needs to know thatthey're enough, come in and

(02:43):
they're always trying to work ontheir physique, but a lot of
people need their mental healthworked on too.
They need to know that justbecause you're working out, it's
good, it's good to be healthy,it's good to take care of your
body, but if you're not takingcare of your mind, then what are
we doing here?

Speaker 1 (02:53):
That's so true.
I just did another interviewwith a nutritionist and she was
talking about that very thing, like how there is so much that
like nutrition and I'm sure it'sthe same for exercise it does
for you more mentally than werealize, like there is a lot
that goes on in the mental part.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
So yes, there is the.
It's a battle, but I, when Isee my clients start to feel
good about themselves, theirconfidence goes up and it's such
a beautiful thing to see, because even today I had this
client come in and she stillcame into the gym but she was
crying over a man and it's okay.
But it's like she's gettingmore confident and realizing

(03:31):
that she can do this.
She, she can do hard things, and I think that's what my
favorite part about personaltraining is is just seeing
people fight through the battlesof their day-to-day life, but
still choosing themselves, and Ilove to see people choose
themselves.
It's one thing I love and Iwant to help more people
understand is that you areworthy.
You wake up today, no matter.
You don't have to be anything, you don't have to say this or do

(03:54):
anything to be enough, andthat's just what I want the
world to know.

Speaker 1 (03:58):
I love that.
I really love that you, you areyour name, you are a star, and
so thank you for sharing thatwith the world, and you know how
many more people feel that way.
It's so important.
So let's go a little bit backto your business side.
So you talked a little bitabout why you kind of went into
this, which I think is anamazing, amazing path to take

(04:19):
your career, but you started asa personal trainer, so tell us a
little bit about your personaltraining.
Who do you train?

Speaker 2 (04:26):
Like any experiences that you've had like that have
helped you to be able to teachmore people about confidence in,
specifically in your traininggym and this guy who believed in

(04:47):
me and saw that I could reallyhelp people, he took me to his
private gym and I startedtraining people and I realized
that first I like to train kidstoo, but most importantly women.
I really like to train women.
And so I was at that gym for awhile and then I stopped
training and then I got into myown business because I was under
him and then I realized I wasthinking to myself am I even
good at this?
Do people even want me?

(05:08):
I was like I don't know and Iwould pray about it.
I was like God, like is thisfor me?
Should I personal train?
And then one day I had somebodyhit me up and she was just like
hey, I'm trying to feel moreconfident.
And I was like, girl, I got youbecause I have, in the time,
been working on my confidence.
I took a time for myself toreally pour into me and I felt
like in my training, personaltraining was like my gateway to

(05:32):
really like talk to people andhelp them know that they are
enough.
So once I started trainingwomen, it's really when I saw
women really need it, like womenneed to know that they are
beautiful, that they are strong.
I don't care if you're big,skinny, tall, short, it doesn't
matter.
And so personal training wasreally just the gateway to
opening up my confidence.
Coaching.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
Personal training was like the perfect gateway into
your confidence coaching.
So now tell us what are youdoing with your confidence
coaching?
How are you helping women?
Who are you specifically tryingto help?

Speaker 2 (06:03):
Okay, so I'm trying to help all women and so I would
go for my youngest.
I was just training a very16-year-old girl and she is very
much.
She's very aware, actually moreaware than I.
Felt like I was at 16.
And she felt like she wasn'tgood enough and she'd be like
I'm ugly and I look like thisand I just want this.
My nose is too big and as assomebody who's such a young

(06:29):
client of mine, but I was likegirl, like you don't even see
your beauty, you don'tunderstand that you are more
than enough, because everyoneneeds to know.
Hey, what you're doing isenough.
Who you are is enough.
You are beautiful, you arestrong, you are doing enough for
your kids, you are doing enoughfor your husband.
And I realized that there isnot a range that I cut off at.

(06:54):
I don't care if you're 95.
I don't care if you're 14.
I feel like all womenspecifically need to know and
that's not the cutoff myth butI'm a girl's, girl, I am all for
the girls and I just think thatgirls need to band together and
we don't need to be jealous ofeach other.
We just need to know that weare strong individuals and once

(07:16):
we get our.
When woman has confidence, youcannot touch her.
You cannot touch a confidentwoman, you cannot tell a
confident woman nothing.
And so, just working with womenand realizing that this is
truly the path I want to go on,I really want to work with all
ranges of women and when I workwith them, I really help them to

(07:37):
understand.
Firstly, like, why don't youfeel like you're enough?
And that's really the firstquestion I ask them is what is
it in you that you feel is notworthy?
Like, why don't you feel goodenough?
And they're always like oh, I'mmy weight or I look like, it's
like an outside thing.
Okay, that's something you canfix.
Everybody thinks it's outsidethings that make them or they

(07:58):
feel like they have to be enoughbecause they don't look like
this.
So let me change this.
It's not outside, it's allinside.
You are all worthy.

Speaker 1 (08:06):
Yeah, I have a slogan here on the podcast and with my
business is we all haveconfidence inside us.
We just need to bring it out.
So that sounds like you areperfectly doing that Like and
you know, we're all born.
We're not born like feeling, like we're not worthy, we're not
enough right, it's there, likeit's born in us.
We just need to like, let itshine and bring it out, and so I

(08:27):
think that is a really greatmessage.
So what do you do specificallyin your coaching?
Do you have like a specificpractice you take people through
, or what are you?
What are you doing right now?

Speaker 2 (08:37):
Honestly, I just it's really based off of the person
I really like to gauge howthey're feeling, what.
What's going on in their life.
So, like for a 16 year old, Ijust try to understand what is
it going?
What's going on in your life?
I just I try to be friends tothem.
I'm not really so much sosomebody who's like, okay, we're
going to do this, this and this, it's really just conversation.

(08:58):
I really just kind of go throughand I try to understand where
you're lacking so much love orwhy you don't feel enough, and I
think I just go off of that.
So if a woman comes to me andshe's like I don't feel like I'm
good enough because I feel likeI can't do anything right, and
it's like, okay, you don't feellike you can do anything right,
do you?
Do you know what you do doright?

(09:19):
And they can name those thingsand I really just try to feed
off that.
I try to let my clients knowthat I know that you all feel
like you have lacking somewhere, but what I try to steer their
attention back to is where theyare great, because we all have
lack and we all we're notperfect human beings but you
need to start recognizing whereyou are good at, where you are
strong at, and I just try topoint them towards those strong

(09:39):
suits and then we just work offof that and then I just try to
go know a little bit more aboutthem.
It's just not like a learningexperience just to talk and I
don't really want people to feellike it's something like I'm
I'm just sitting there and Ineed to know everything about
you and I'm writing it all downon paper like a therapist, like
I just want to have aconversation and understand you

(10:00):
and that's what I seek to dowith all my clients is just to
understand and help.
So it's just it kind of varies.

Speaker 1 (10:06):
Yeah, no, that's really good.
So you talked a little bit atthe beginning of like your
personal confidence journey andhow you were struggling with
some confidence early on.
Were there some specific thingsthat you did that helped you
and your confidence to grow thatmaybe people listening who are
struggling with confidence incertain areas could take and
they could implement into theirlife?

Speaker 2 (10:28):
So when I was working on my own confidence, I started
looking at myself and I startedto be like you are a beautiful
star, like you are smart becauseI always got told that I was
not smart and I believed them.
I used to believe them.
So I really started doingaffirmations like you are
beautiful star, you are smartstar, you are smart, you are
strong star.

(10:49):
People love you, people carefor you.
And I just really started doingthose affirmations over and
over again and it was honestlyjust some little situations
where if I didn't feel good, Iwould speak up about it.
And that's where confidencecomes in.
Like somebody says something tome that's disrespectful to me,
but I didn't like that.
Don't say that to me.
You're not going to speak to melike that.
I'm not disrespectful.
But I started standing my grounda little bit more.

(11:09):
That's also something I foundto be very helpful with my
confidence.
Standing your ground and notletting people walk all over you
is like the number one thing Iwill tell people.
Stop letting people walk on you.
You don't have to bedisrespectful, but what you will
do is clock anybody who feelslike they can put you down,
because once you know that, youcan be a good person but also a

(11:31):
stern person, and I just thinkthat's where a lot of confidence
comes in.
I used to let people walk allover me, walk all over me, and
it was crazy.
I was like, wow, I was such atimid star.
I really used to just back downto anything that would slightly
scare me.
Not, no more, not anymore Watchout world.

(11:53):
Watch out.
I'm coming for you Cause youhuh, what did you say about me?
Yeah, let's talk about it realquick.
So it's really just.
It was truly a beautifuljourney a lot of crying, and I
will say this it takes a lot oftime alone to find that
confidence in yourself.
I spent a lot of time alone andkind of just praying and
finding that peace within myself.
It's a beautiful thing to thinkabout.

(12:16):
I can remember going throughhard times and being like this
needs to happen, this has tohappen, and I was picking myself
back up and it was really justme never giving up on myself,
and that's where my confidencegrew.
I didn't give up on me.
I'll never speak down on myself.
I really try to catch myself, and so that's also in the

(12:37):
process of growing and becomingmore confident.
I'm watching the words that Ispeak out of my mouth about
myself, because if I can't speakgood about me, why do I expect
others to speak good about me?
And why would they, as long asI love me, speak good about me?
I'm good.

Speaker 1 (12:48):
A lot of stillness, a lot of alone time, time with
yourself, getting to knowyourself.
It sounds like it was a journey, a long one, yeah.
Yeah, I think we all are goingto always be on it, cause I feel
like in life you feel confidentin like a certain area and then
something happens, like youknow, something's thrown at you

(13:09):
or something changes with you orwith your circumstances, and
you're going to maybe have tolike go through that journey
again, because it's going to bea constant thing, and I think
there's never like confidenceisn't like a destination, like
we're always on that journey toconfidence, and I think that's a
good example of that itdefinitely is an ongoing journey

(13:30):
.

Speaker 2 (13:30):
It's a beautiful journey, though.

Speaker 1 (13:31):
Yeah, yeah, I would call it a beautiful, beautiful
pain sometimes.
Yes, yes, yes, cause itsometimes can be painful, but it
is beautiful.
Yes, yeah, I agree, you juststarted a group.
Do you want to tell us aboutyour group that you just oh?

Speaker 2 (13:44):
my gosh.
If you live in St George Utah, listen up, ladies, because this
is for you, okay.
So I just group.
It's called baddie's breakfastclub and it is for all women,
all ages.
Of course, if you're like 12,your mom needs to come, but
other than that, you're good togo.
It is for women who want to gettogether.
We go on walks.
I'm trying to do it at leasttwo times um the week in the

(14:06):
week, on tuesday and saturdayright now.
So this saturday we are goingon a walk for an hour and we are
going to start with thefarmer's market.
But this group is going to belike sisterhood.
We're going to do activities,we're going to plan travel trips
, we're going to have littleactivities where we have friends
giving and we're going todecorate for the holiday season

(14:27):
or maybe go to the pumpkinpatches together.
It's just a group of women onthe internet they all came from
the internet, from TikTok whoare telling me I need more
friends in St George Utah, and Ididn't know that all of us were
struggling.
I'm working upon myself tocreate a group of women who can
just come together and supportone another, show love, and I am
also in there just encouragingthese women.

(14:47):
I have created from that groupa 75-part group.
So I have created from thatgroup a 75 hard group.
So I have women who are inthere doing 75 hard.
And if you don't know what thatis, it's where you stick to a
diet plan.
Two workouts, one in the one,no two 45 minute workouts.
One has to be outside, drink agallon of water, read 10 pages
of a nonfiction book, takeprogress pictures.
I think I already said that.

(15:08):
Stick to a diet plan, noalcohol.
And I have women who are doingthis.
We also have a book club groupin the midst of this group.
So it's just like we have theselittle groups among the big
group where women are findingwhat they like and we're
creating groups from it andwe're just making sisterhood,
making friends, making memories.
And I'm just so excited for Icreated this and it's more than

(15:32):
I could ever imagine just tohave women who can come together
.
Moms, all these moms arebringing their kids in the
strollers, going on walksbecause they don't get out the
house.
You know, some moms are alwaysat home with the kids.
It's all my, bring your kids.
I want everyone to know they'rewelcome.
I don't care if you're 95, 16.
I want you all to come and feelwelcome and that's what the

(15:52):
main purpose of my, my group is.
Baddies breakfast club for allthe baddies I love that.

Speaker 1 (15:58):
Okay, so you're gonna have, like you know, if you're
bringing in all these differentinterests, you're gonna have a
lot of groups going on.
Are you gonna be?
I know, I'm just groups.

Speaker 2 (16:06):
Yeah, I don't run all the groups, so some of the
girls like there's a girl whoruns the book club group, so I
don't run all of them.
Thank goodness, not I you'relike.
I can't do that.
Some girls are like you guyshave plants, let's, let's talk
about our plants, and so theyhave that group.
But I've known a lot of peoplehave branched off into um a lot
of their interests and it's justbeen a space where you can find

(16:26):
your group of people too.
So I think that's what's beenfun to see is, uh, girls find
their space and it's like, okay, well, maybe you guys aren't so
interested in 10, five or four, but you guys like to read or you
guys are interested in plans,so it's just cool.
It's cool.
I love that I'm creating aspace for people who can really
make some friends.
I think that's my mostimportant goal, that's my

(16:47):
biggest goal is to have womenwho can just have someone.

Speaker 1 (16:52):
Yeah, because I think if you have someone, your
confidence grows Exactly.
Yeah, you do need to, like yousaid, you need to spend time
alone and to help, to help killyour confidence, but I think
eventually you need people youknow to help you continue to
grow with that.
So that's, that's a beautifulthing you've created, so
congratulations.

Speaker 2 (17:12):
I'm excited, thank you, thank you, and I hope to
have more enjoying.
We have more joining every dayand the TikTok keeps just
getting more and more comments.
It's hard for me to even keepup.
I'm like, wow, this is hard, but I'm excited, it's going to
be worth it.
I'm trying to make some shirts, that's awesome.

Speaker 1 (17:27):
All right, well, I will include it in the show
notes, like how they can getinvolved in that group, but can
you tell us, like where they, where they could go to try and
find this group?

Speaker 2 (17:37):
So if you go onto Tik TOK, it's called star fit,
underscore 23.
Um, and there's going to be alot of QR codes.
You can personally message meif you really want.
If it doesn't work for you, butyou have to download telegram.
That's the first thing you haveto do, um, and then from there

(17:58):
you need to go onto my page, screenshot it and then go to
your camera, hold it down.
It's going to take you to thelink.
It's going to say, like Safari, you'll click that and then it
should take you into the group.
The code is the easiest way, butagain, if you really are
interested, I would just sayfrom podcast, that would be the
easiest way for me to know thatyou are somebody who hasn't seen
it from my TikTok but you'reinterested in the group still.

(18:18):
Or Instagram, you can messageme on there and I can just send
you the link directly.
That'll be a lot easier and myname on there is fitstar,
underscore 23.
And, yeah, just message me andsay you want to be in the group
and I will add you in and itwill be as simple as that.
Make sure you got it downloaded, though.
I've been having to preach thatto all these women.

(18:39):
They're like it's not working.
Is the app downloaded?

Speaker 1 (18:41):
No Telegram.

Speaker 2 (18:45):
All right, I can't do that one for you, but yeah,
okay.

Speaker 1 (18:49):
Well, so Telegram is how you're going to communicate,
how you're going to tell peopleabout all the events and the
different groups, and all that.

Speaker 2 (18:54):
Oh yes, we have a Facebook group.
It's also called Daddy'sBreakfast Club, so if you want
to even join that, you can dothat as well, and that is the
name, okay.

Speaker 1 (19:02):
I will include all of those links in the show notes
of this episode.
So if you're listening to thisepisode, you can just click on
the show notes and there shouldbe links there so that you can
get them.
But you can also reach out tome or Star and we can help you
out.
But thank you so much, star.
This was so good.
One thing I like to ask all ofmy guests is what is one thing
that you try and do every day tohelp your confidence?

Speaker 2 (19:25):
Okay, so I go on walks.
I go on walks every day andit's really when I cross the
street because people arewatching you, I try to keep my
head up high, I try not to lookon my phone and I just walk, and
that's just one thing I do onall my walks.
Whenever I cross the street, Ikeep my head up high and I tell
myself this is your world, thisis your world.

(19:45):
Well, I sound cocky, but thisis my world.
You guys are all just living init.
But in your, your world, I'mjust living in it.
That's the one thing I do everyday and I think that helps my
confidence a lot, because I it'skind of scary walking across
the street.
I don't care what anybody saysthat is, and that's just one
thing I do that helps build myconfidence.
Don't look at your phone.

(20:06):
Keep your head up, maybe evenlook around, stare at somebody
straight in the eyes in theircar, like that is something that
I see, I love to do, and I alsodo affirmations every day in
the mirror as well.
Um, starting off like I ambeautiful, I am enough, miracles
happen for me, um, abundance isalways flowing to me, um,
things like that, just to helpme know well, just to help me

(20:28):
remind myself that good thingsare coming, I'm doing what I can
do every day, but, mostimportantly, that I'm beautiful
and that I am enough.
And those are the two wordsthat I love to say to myself you
are beautiful, you are enough, and if you're listening to this
podcast, know that you'rebeautiful, know that you're
enough and you're worthy, andyou don't have to do anything

(20:48):
but wake up and be yourself.
Thank you, star.
Thank you for being here.
Thank you, it's been a pleasure.

Speaker 1 (20:55):

I believe that when you (yes you) feel seen, heard and understood you’re able to deal with relationship struggles, work challenges and life’s ups and downs with more ease and grace. I interview experts, celebrities, thought leaders and athletes so that we can grow our mindset, build better habits and uncover a side of them we’ve never seen before. New episodes every Monday and Friday. Your support means the world to me and I don’t take it for granted — click the follow button and leave a review to help us spread the love with On Purpose. I can’t wait for you to listen to your first or 500th episode!
