Welcome back to another episodeof Differently.
Today's episode comes rightfrom my journal.
We're doing something a littledifferently.
I want to share some snippetsfrom my own journal and talk you
(00:44):
through these important waysthat journaling can help you
achieve your deepest desires.
This past year, I startedtraining guides to work inside
of my interactive coachingdashboard, where you can journal
with a trained guide on theother side that's there to coach
(01:07):
you in getting out of your ownway, helping you challenge your
own thinking, and they're on theother side of your journal, so
you're not alone in your journaland in training them.
We would take some journals andwe would read those journals
together.
Journals and we would readthose journals together, and I
(01:29):
was really wowed and reminded ofthe honor that it is to read a
client's journal and be invitedinto a snapshot of their life, a
part of their life that theymay not even be sharing with
anyone else, and this is trulyan honor, and it's inspired me
so much that I want to bringsome new episodes to the podcast
(01:49):
this year, where I shareanonymous journals with you,
solely with permission, to letyou get a glimpse into what I
see, because we can all see ourown story inside of the story of
another, and that is the powerof reading someone else's
(02:12):
journal.
So I knew, if I wanted to sharethis with you this year, that
it was really important to leadwith some of my own journals,
and that's what we're going todo today.
So I'm going to share somesnippets from my journals and,
as a coach, I believe in thepower of raw honesty, because
when we're willing to be honestwith ourselves and with God is
(02:36):
when true change occurs, andthat's why I'm going to share
some of these reflections withyou.
These pages capture my ownmoments of doubt, fear,
questioning, inspiration, emotions that we all navigate on
this life journey.
And warning, these are going to.
My thoughts are choppy, myjournaling is choppy, and so
(02:57):
that's how these are going tosound to you, I'm sure, but this
is how I journal, and these arejust snippets from my journal,
so I'm the first one that I'mgoing to read is titled Do you
ever question the path you're on?
Does fear, doubt and confusionshow up for you and derail your
best efforts?
(03:17):
This snippet is about that.
So this is my journal.
Forgive me for getting off track.
I find it hard to find balancefrom going too hard and then too
light.
And then there's that voice inmy head that tries to make me
think I don't really have acalling, I'm not equipped.
(03:38):
And yada, yada, yada slay themental dragons, make them flee
God.
I want to be obedient.
I will keep moving forward.
I promise to follow.
Doubt, fear and confusion goaway.
You aren't needed here at thismoment.
You aren't ever needed in thismission, unless it's from God to
(04:00):
point me in a new direction.
Side note on this little entrythat I have always felt like my
work is a calling and I alsohave the Clifton strength if
you're familiar with those ofresponsibility that I sometimes
take too far and you can hear inthis journal like I desire to
honor this call in my life and Ialso get tripped up along the
(04:24):
way a lot trying to get it right.
Can you relate to any of that?
Okay, journal snippet numbertwo, titled Hello, stress.
I feel emotional today.
I'm not sure what's happening.
All this build up and then what?
Will anyone like it, try it,allow it to impact their life,
(04:46):
or will there be crickets?
What if people don't get it?
All the fears, one by one, comemarching in.
But what about the courage?
Can't it come marching in too?
That's my job to lead thechange, to lead the charge with
courage and new thoughts, thoughts I've cultivated for a
long time.
Why aren't they always at myfingertips?
(05:08):
I teach this stuff day in andday out, and sometimes it feels
like they all run away rightwhen I need them the most.
In this entry, you can hear myfear again.
You can hear my angst of beingan entrepreneur.
Sometimes I get tired, sometimes doing new things and
sharing new things and pluggingalong and doing the next brave
(05:31):
thing.
Sometimes it's tiring andsometimes it's discouraging, and
some days are like this.
The next one is about stayingin step and listening for wisdom
that's bigger than you, andthis is truly what keeps me
going and guides me along theway.
Here's the snippet.
(05:52):
Something is stirring meyesterday and tonight, and
that's why I can't sleep.
God is reminding me to actswiftly, be courageous, move, be
relentless in quieting the mindand step forward, finishing
what he has called me to do.
Time is of the essence.
Don't wait, don't hem and haw.
(06:13):
Stay in the flow.
And these journals like thisare just honestly.
I sit down and I write, andit's just listening and
remembering, remembering thethings that I truly know deep
down in my heart and soul, because sometimes the mind not
sometimes all the time the mindis trying to derail us.
(06:34):
The mind gets super noisy andwe need to get quiet.
This is our superpower in thislife to get quiet, to connect
with God and to hear wisdomthat's much, much bigger than we
are.
Okay, the next one is aboutwhere to focus.
So journaling helps us to getout of our head and tap into
that deeper wisdom, and for manyof us, it's hard to slow down,
(06:57):
to listen, and this is the verything that we need to do,
because that's where we haveaccess to the things that we
truly, truly want, and in thisentry I'm referencing a book
that I was reading it is thepresence of God that changes us,
it is the presence of God thatempowers us, it's the presence
of God that enables us to changethe nature of where we are.
(07:20):
It is the presence of God thatmakes all the difference that we
cannot make on our own, evenwith all of our best efforts.
It is the presence of God thatmakes all the difference that we
cannot make on our own, evenwith all of our best efforts.
The one need of our life is thepresence of God.
I will be with you.
That's from the Bible.
In essence, god is saying toMoses I know you feel inadequate
, I know you feel like you don'thave what it takes to
(07:40):
accomplish the impossibleassignment, but I will be with
you and that is enough.
The one irrepressible need inour life is the presence of God.
Moses internalizes this lessonfor the rest of his life.
This becomes the number onepriority the pursuit of the
presence of God.
Quotes.
That was from the book.
(08:01):
This is my journal.
I love this so much.
This is my mission too, becausewhen I get in my head and I try
to strategize and figure it allout on my own, it creates
stress, confusion and overwhelm.
That when I show up and prayand focus and listen, god shows
up and everything happens withgreater ease than a joy.
I love this so much.
(08:23):
This is my mission too, becausewhen I get in my head and try
to strategize and figure it allout on my own, it creates stress
, confusion and overwhelm.
When I show up and I pray and Ifocus and I listen, god shows
up and everything happens withgreater ease.
It is that simple.
If I focus on one thing, therest falls into place with more
(08:45):
richness than I could everimagine.
So sometimes I'm journalingbecause I've read something and
it's stirred my heart and souland I write in my journal like
what does that mean for me today?
Well, how do I interpret thatfor my life?
Okay, the next one is aboutcourage to take action and stay
(09:06):
the course.
I wrote this in my journal overand over again this year to
remind me left to my ownthinking and devices, I will
derail myself, for God has notgiven us a spirit of fear and
timidity, but of power, love andsound mind.
Second Timothy I think thatsound mind 2 Timothy.
(09:26):
I think that's 2 Timothy 2.
I can't read my writing.
This is the goal, this is thestretch, this is the mantra Get
out of the way, let God do a newthing here.
That's the end of my journalentry, and a lot of times you
can see, I'm just processingthrough my own natural feelings
(09:48):
and emotions, as I'm committedto fulfilling something in my
life and continuing on this pathof my life's work.
So what you see here is thenatural ebb and flow of growth,
the questioning, the uncertaintyand yes, the moments of getting
stuck and off track, andthey're all part of the journey.
What matters most isn't theabsence of doubt, but our
(10:09):
willingness to keep showing up,to keep seeking direction and to
stay committed to what trulymatters.
So throughout the year, I'mgoing to share more journal
entries on the show, demonstrating how we work with
our clients through journalingto create lasting change,
because having someone else onthe other side of your journal
(10:30):
to give you perspective, to helpyou see beyond your own
limiting beliefs, is so powerfulin the journey of growth.
If that's what you're up to andI hope that you can see here
too, that we believe that theanswers are within you and we're
here to help you find them.
And you can see, even in justreading some of my journal
(10:51):
snippets here, that I was ableto find wisdom, I was able to
find courage, I was able to findwhat I needed to focus on, and
I believe journaling is apowerful tool for getting
clarity and direction in yourlife.
There is power in journalingand even more when getting
clarity and direction in yourlife.
There is power in journalingand even more when you share it
with a coach or a guide, someonethat's trained to help you.
(11:12):
