Justin Wenck (00:00):
Today I'm going to
be talking about how now is the
(00:03):
time to create your new year.
And I'm going to be going over asimple formula of how to make it
happen. And that's formula isreflect set and get super
simple, and there's no reason towait for the new year to create
the year that you want rightnow. So with that, let's get
started. Are you ready to live alife with enough time, money and
(00:29):
energy have relationships andconnections that delight you?
Are you ready for theextraordinary life you know
you've been missing? If so, thenthis is the place for you. I'm a
best selling author, coach, consultant and speaker who's
worked in technology for overtwo decades. I'm a leader at
transforming people andorganizations from operating in
(00:52):
fear, obligation and guilt torunning off joy, ease and love.
It's time for engineeringemotions and energy with me.
Justin Wenck, PhD, okay, so ifyou're watching this live,
you're like, it's nowhere nearNew Year's like, it's it's
(01:13):
closer to coming out, like, right before Halloween. So I was
like, why am I talking about thenew year when there's still,
still plenty of the year left?
For a couple reasons. One isthere's actually not a lot of
the year left. I mean, there'sjust a couple months. And then
(01:36):
the other thing is dependent, nomatter when you're watching
this, listen to this. Thank you.
Either way, make sure you do,you know, hit the Like,
subscribe all that, all thatstuff really does help the show,
getting it to more people. So doappreciate you being here. Thing
is, is that, if you're waitingtill January 1 is the only time
to think about, well, what thewhat? What do I want to do?
(01:58):
What's What do I want this yearto be about? What? What am I
going to change? What am I goingto shift? That really diminishes
the amount of amazingexperiences that that you can
have in your lifetime. Becausehow many January 1 does the
average person get? Let's justsay it's, it's 100 would you
rather have way moreopportunities than 100 like,
(02:22):
wouldn't you maybe want to havehundreds or maybe even 1000s?
And so that's why this is thetime, because now is always the
time to create the year that'scoming up for you. So it doesn't
matter when it is in the year.
(02:43):
And the only reason that it canbe good to use things like the
new year is because anythingthat gets you to go, Oh, now is
the time. That's great. So a lotof people ask me, like, you
know, just Justin, should I dosomething, you know, for the
solstice, or should I dosomething for the full moon? Or
(03:05):
should I do something for thisholiday or that holiday? And I
just go, like, feels like a goodtime to do it, then do it. But
don't wait for the holiday, thecelestial event. Whenever you
feel like it's time, it's time.
And for me, I'm in a time whereI'm like, now is the time to be
really creating some big things, some big shifts for my next
(03:27):
year. I'll share, I'll sharesome of these with you as I as
examples to go through thissimple three step process to
create your year now three thosethree steps, as I said at the
top of the show is it's youreflect, and then you set, and
then you get. It's simple, yetit will take a lifetime for you
(03:51):
to master this formula, becausein the many ways, each of these
steps might not be what youfirst imagined it to be. So
let's talk about reflect like, why the fuck do you have to
reflect back? Why can't you justfigure out what it is that you
want to get? And this issomething that most people miss
(04:15):
when figuring out what they wantto achieve, what they want to
experience, what they want theirlife to be like, is they don't
look back on the life thatthey've already gotten to live
and gotten out of it, so manygems and skills and experiences
and joys that they can takeforward. And then also there's
(04:38):
the learnings of what maybedidn't work so well, so that you
can adjust and do better andadjust right? So, for example,
when I look back on this year sofar, there's a number of things
where I'm just like, boy, this, this year has not, has not
worked out the way that. That Iwanted, wanted it to like I, you
(05:00):
know, it's like, the some of thethings I want to do my business
aren't where I want, you know, the number of friends and
connections and ones that I careabout I like, I feel like I
haven't grown in that as much asI wanted to. So it's like, if it
was just like, Oh, I just focuson what I'm missing. I'm missing
(05:20):
out on a lot of things. And oneof the things is, well, what
challenges have I overcome inthis past year? What challenges
have you overcome? Like, I lookback and it's like, Oh, I've
had, like, a few times where Igot, I got really fucking sick,
like, you know, three separateoccasions this year where I was
pretty much out of commissionfor a week, maybe even more. So
(05:42):
that's a lot of time being, youknow, not able to do the things
that I thought were important todoing. Yet, there were benefits
to that downtime, being sick, that time to be more inward and
reflective and get to experiencewhat it's like to be requiring
(06:03):
help, requiring rest, requiringshifting and nutrition and
making sure I'm balancing out.
And then also my, you know, Ihad, I had a loss. My sister
died earlier this year, and it'slike, oh yeah. That brought up a
whole, whole lot of things, youknow, with family and other
(06:25):
things like that, and it's like,oh yeah. That's actually a
really, really big event insomeone's life. And it's wasn't
something I planned yet. Itbrought a lot of stuff up that
I'm so grateful that I've beenable to work on and learn from
and grow from. Then I look atlike, oh, what has been
(06:48):
accomplished? Like, I've, youknow, created this incredible
energy practice that I'vestarted to share with people,
and they've been having amazingresults and experiences. And if
we get to the end, maybe I'llshare you know how you can
experience that for yourselfreally, really soon here, and
it's like, oh yeah. And I've hadsome great travels, some really,
(07:11):
really amazing travelexperiences. So it's like, there
really has been a lot of amazingthings, and oh, the more I've
been flexible and open toletting things come the way they
do, the more I can enjoy it. Sookay, so that's, that's the
importance of the reflection isto go, wow, look at all I
(07:34):
already got. And what is itabout? Maybe what I didn't get,
that I'm wanting, or what'simportant. And maybe there's a
reason I hadn't gotten what Iwanted just yet, because if I'd
gotten it, it might not haveactually fulfilled me the way
that I thought it would. Like, you know, the having new friends
(07:56):
is like, well, do I know what itis I want to friend four, right?
So these, this is a reflection.
And so now step one is theReflect. Step two is the set,
set your intentions for what youwant to bring in. And so this is
the time to kind of go like, Oh,What? What? What's, what's
(08:19):
really important, and for me, Ireally want to, you know, I want
to get my energy practice out tomore people. I want to have some
very, very deep impact on topeople that want to do amazing
things, even if it's just, they just
want to have an enjoyable lifelike, to me, that's amazing
(08:43):
enough. And it's not about thenumbers, it's about the depth to
which that impact is going toimpact that person and the
people around them. And that's,that's what my my work is, is
about. You know, that's why Ilike to coach, I like to
consult, and I like to share, you know, these, this podcast,
my book, my meditation, mybreathing and my energy
(09:06):
practices. And then I like tojust enjoy experiencing this
vast, amazing, incredible world.
So for me, that's, that's, youknow, a lot of that has to do
with traveling, and so that'swhy, if you've seen some of the
Adventure Time videos onYouTube, you know, where it's
(09:27):
like when I go somewhere, I puttogether a little video so that
you can experience, get theenergies, the essence and the
joy that I experienced whilegoing to places. So I, you know,
lately, got the trip to Cabo SanLucas was the most recent one
out soon there's going to be onefor the trips that I did to
(09:48):
Yellowstone and Grand Tetons. Soyou know, definitely go check
out my YouTube channel and checkout the Adventure Time videos
there, and make sure yousubscribe. So that you get to
enjoy those. And I'm lookingforward to more travel so I can
create more videos and have moreexperiences that I just I just
enjoy, you know, getting to meetthe people, enjoy the food, and
(10:12):
really connecting with natureand the wildlife. And so one of
the things that I'm setting up,and this is kind of what has
inspired me to do this, thisepisode, topic now, basically,
for the next the first fewmonths of 2026, is going to be
(10:36):
just out, out traveling, solooking to do half of that, half
of that time in South Americaand the other half in Europe. So
been putting together theitineraries and places to stay
and things to do, and mostimportantly, the things not to
do is building in time to justlike be and soak in and enjoy
(11:04):
and one then also, you know, time to do my podcast and, you
know, do the videos and thingsto continue to connecting and
doing the impacts that isimportant to me as well. So
these are the things that I'msetting up for for my new year,
but I'm setting it up now. Sothere is a little bit of like,
(11:25):
Yes, this is for the nextcalendar year, which this being
October 2025 is going to be, youknow, the first few months of
2026 but whenever you'rewatching this, listening to
this, hearing this, experiencingthis. Now is the time to set up
that next year, and that nextyear can start. You know, the
(11:49):
next minute, next day startswhenever you want it to start,
but you got to set it in motion.
Now, if you wait till January 1every single year, again, you're
there's a lot that's that can'tbe done. Like, for example, you
know, South America beginningthe winter is their summer. And
(12:10):
so if I wait till January 1, Igotta wait till, you know, 10
and 11 months before maybe it'sthe right time of year to go
visit there. So if you wait, oftentimes, you know you're
going to miss it, but don't beworried that you're missing out,
because you're still gettingwhat you're meant to get now,
(12:31):
just once you get that, now isthe time to do the thing you're
meant to do, to do the thing nowand start getting what you're
meant to get. Which brings us tothe third step of the reflect
set and get. And this is startallowing yourself to get what it
(12:51):
is that you truly want fromwhatever it is that you have
set, and allow it to be bothmore and less than what your
logical mind is expecting. Sooften the logical mind because a
lot of a lot of my my myviewers, my followers, you know,
(13:13):
brilliant, and you can think outall the things I like, I know I
can like, go A to B to C to D toD, and then all these
contingency plans and all thesethings, and that can be great,
yet it's also can be verylimiting, because it's like, if
it has to come in a particularway, then how are you going to
get more than you asked for? Ithas to come the way. If to get
(13:37):
what you want, it has to come inthe way that you want it. How
can you get even more? Right?
It's going to be very, verydifficult. And then what if the
thing you want is actuallysomething you don't want? And
maybe the reason you're notgetting something is because
(13:59):
you're not getting the point ofwhy you wanted, what you wanted.
So, like, let's take a let'stake an example of you want. You
want to have, like, you want tobring in a lot more money,
right? So you want to raise atyour job, or you want a business
that brings in more money. Youwant your investments to do.
Well, whatever it is you wantyou want more money in your
(14:23):
life. Yet, what do you believeabout people that that have the
kind of money you claim that youwant? Are they bad people? Are
they? Are they liars? Are theymanipulative? Are they harmful?
Because if do you believe thathaving more money makes you that
(14:44):
but you also have an identitythat says I'm a good person,
then you can't get the money.
Now, none of this is a problemonce you see it, and then you
recognize that you can easilychange your identity, or you can
change your beliefs about these.
Things. Yet if you don't getthat awareness, you can't change
(15:05):
that, and you're not going toget what you want. So when you
don't get what you want, startto see that maybe you're getting
some insights into how yourinternal programming isn't
matching how you want to liveyour life. And once you
recognize that that is a greatget, because now you can shift
(15:26):
your internal programming, andyou might be going like, Well,
how do I do that? I've done somepodcasts about that. Lot of ways
in the book engineered to lovethat I wrote of how to do that,
and then also my energy practiceis a great way to do these
things with with speed, withease. It's going to work if
you're if you're ready for it towork. Again, like, if you don't
(15:49):
want something, you're allyou're not going to get it. And
that's okay, because, again, yougot a whole lifetime to want and
get things and the so then theother thing is, you know, the
the getting is you also mightget something different or more
or better than you set out, butyou got to be open to that. And
(16:11):
also you're getting the joy oftaking the steps. So you also
want to be getting going, movingtowards the thing that you you
set your intention to bring intoyour life. So, for example, for
you know, me and the trip nextyear, it's like it's, you know,
(16:32):
putting a deposit down on on acruise for one portion, or, you
know, putting in having the listof locations, and starting to
figure out which places to stayand booking booking flights,
right? So depending on what itis, you got to start taking some
steps. Doesn't mean you have todo it the way everyone else is
that you got to do it like itcould just mean you're going to
(16:56):
write in the journal about a bigdream you have of like, of the
kind of relationship, or thekinds of friends that you want,
like, just start taking steps.
And by taking the steps andfeeling, feeling the feelings of
what it is that you intend tofeel when you're going to get
it, you're going to start to getwhat you want now, because it's
(17:18):
really, it's the feelings, theexperiences, that's, that's what
really matters, because thething of itself is just like any
other thing. And it's, it'sephemeral, it's, it's here and
it's gone, and you're going towant more. So it's enjoy the
wanting, enjoy the process ofgetting, and that's, that's the
(17:39):
ride, that's the fun, that's thejoy. And so the get is, it
really is. It's, it's you'regetting now by going, this is
what I'm creating. It'shappening. It's kind of like
when you're, you know, cookingsomething really delicious, you
start to smell the scent of thefood before it's even done. This
(17:59):
is what life is intended to belike. It's not, it's not, oh,
I'm going to shut myself downfrom the the enjoyable
experience until the thing isdone. That's so limiting.
There's so much more, if you'rewilling to explore more than
before. And I hope you adore therhyme that is happening at this
(18:24):
time, because the time is now,and I think that, I think that
kind ofgets it. And if again you you
want some help with this. Soremember those three steps. It's
reflect, look back on, you knowwhat's been going on the
previous year and see, you knowwhat you've overcome, what
(18:48):
you've gained, and what theessence of what you're looking
to bring in, and then set, setthat desire, that intention of
what you want to bring into yourlife. And really, you know, get
specific and get clear, andthink of the the emotions and
the experiences you want toenjoy. And then get, allow
(19:08):
yourself to get these thingsnow, through the joy of taking
the steps, through the joy ofimagining what you're going to
experience, and then allowyourself to just, you know, get
what you're going to going toget, because it might be the
thing. It might be somethingcompletely different, or it
(19:31):
might be even better, but beopen to the getting starting
now. So those are the threethings, the Reflect, set get
that is how you want to set upand create your new year now.
There's no need to wait for thefull moon, for the equinox, for
the new year, for the ChineseNew Year, for the for the high.
(19:56):
